1. ஈசாக்கு முதிர்வயதானதினால் அவன் கண்கள் இருளடைந்து பார்வையற்றுப் போனபோது, அவன் தன் மூத்த குமாரனாகிய ஏசாவை அழைத்து, என் மகனே என்றான்; அவன், இதோ, இருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

1. And it came to pass that Isaac waxed old and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see. Then called he Esau his eldest son and said unto him: my son. And he said unto him: here am I.

2. அப்பொழுது அவன்: நான் முதிர்வயதானேன், என் மரணம் இன்ன நாளில் என்று அறியேன்.

2. And he said: behold, I am old and know not the day of my death:

3. ஆகையால், நீ உன் ஆயுதங்களாகிய உன் அம்பறாத்தூணியையும் உன் வில்லையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு வனத்துக்குப்போய், எனக்காக வேட்டையாடி,

3. Now therefore take thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and get thee to the fields, and take me some venison,

4. அதை எனக்குப் பிரியமாயிருக்கிற ருசியுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களாகச் சமைத்து, நான் புசிக்கவும், நான் மரணமடையுமுன்னே என் ஆத்துமா உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவும், என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா என்றான்.

4. and make me meat such as I love, and bring it me and let me eat that my soul may bless thee before that I die.

5. ஈசாக்கு தன் குமாரனாகிய ஏசாவோடே பேசுகையில், ரெபெக்காள் கேட்டுக்கொண்டிருந்தாள். ஏசா வேட்டையாடிக்கொண்டுவரும்படி வனத்துக்குப் போனான்.

5. But Rebecca heard when Isaac spoke to Esau his son. And as soon as Esau was gone to the field to catch venison, and to bring it,

6. அப்பொழுது ரெபெக்காள் தன் குமாரனாகிய யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: உன் தகப்பன் உன் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசாவை அழைத்து:

6. she spake unto Jacob her son saying: Behold I have heard thy father talking with Esau thy brother and saying:

7. நான் புசித்து, எனக்கு மரணம் வருமுன்னே, கர்த்தரை முன்னிட்டு உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படி, நீ எனக்காக வேட்டையாடி, அதை எனக்கு ருசியுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களாகச் சமைத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்று சொல்லக்கேட்டேன்.

7. bring me venison and make me meat, that I may eat and bless thee before the LORD yer I die.

8. ஆகையால், என் மகனே, என் சொல்லைக் கேட்டு, நான் உனக்குக் கற்பிக்கிறபடி செய்.

8. Now therefore my son hear my voice in that which I command thee:

9. நீ ஆட்டுமந்தைக்குப் போய், இரண்டு நல்ல வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டிகளைக் கொண்டுவா; நான் அவைகளை உன் தகப்பனுக்குப் பிரியமானபடி ருசியுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களாகச் சமைப்பேன்.

9. get thee to the flock, and bring me thence two good kids, and I will make meat of them for thy father, such as he loveth.

10. உன் தகப்பன் தாம் மரணமடையுமுன்னே உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்குபடி அவர் புசிப்பதற்கு நீ அதை அவரிடத்தில் கொண்டுபோகவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

10. And thou shalt bring it to thy father and he shall eat, that he may bless thee before his death.

11. அதற்கு யாக்கோபு தன் தாயாகிய ரெபெக்காளை நோக்கி: என் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசா ரோமம் மிகுந்தவன், நான் ரோமமில்லாதவன்.

11. Then said Jacob to Rebecca his mother: Behold Esau my brother is rough and I am smooth.

12. ஒருவேளை என் தகப்பன் என்னைத்தடவிப்பார்ப்பார்; அப்பொழுது நான் அவருக்கு எத்தனாய்க் காணப்பட்டு, என்மேல் ஆசீர்வாதத்தை அல்ல, சாபத்தை வரப்பண்ணிக்கொள்வேனே என்றான்.

12. My father shall peradventure feel me, and I shall seem unto him as though I went about to beguile him, and so shall he bring a curse upon me and not a blessing:

13. அதற்கு அவன் தாய்: என் மகனே, உன்மேல் வரும் சாபம் என்மேல் வரட்டும்; என் சொல்லைமாத்திரம் கேட்டு, நீ போய், அவைகளை என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா என்றாள்.

13. and his mother said unto him. Upon me be thy curse my son, only hear my voice, and go and fetch me them.

14. அவன் போய் அவைகளைப் பிடித்து, தன் தாயினிடத்தில் கொண்டுவந்தான்; அவனுடைய தாய் அவன் தகப்பனுக்குப்பிரியமானபடி ருசியுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களைச் சமைத்தாள்.

14. And Jacob went and fetched them and brought them to his mother. And his mother made meat of them, according as his father loved.

15. பின்பு, ரெபெக்காள் வீட்டிலே தன்னிடத்தில் இருந்த தன் மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏசாவின் நல்ல வஸ்திரங்களை எடுத்து, தன் இளைய மகனாகிய யாக்கோபுக்கு உடுத்தி,

15. And she went and fetched goodly raiment of her eldest son Esau which she had in the house with her, and put them upon Jacob her youngest son,

16. வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டிகளின் தோலை அவன் கைகளிலேயும் ரோமமில்லாத அவன் கழுத்திலேயும் போட்டு;

16. and she put the skins upon his hands and upon the smooth of his neck.

17. தான் சமைத்த ருசியுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களையும் அப்பங்களையும் தன் குமாரனாகிய யாக்கோபின் கையிலே கொடுத்தாள்.

17. And she put the meat and bread which she had made in the hand of her son Jacob.

18. அவன் தன் தகப்பனிடத்தில் வந்து, என் தகப்பனே என்றான்; அதற்கு அவன்: இதோ, இருக்கிறேன்; நீ யார், என் மகனே என்றான்.

18. And he went in to his father saying: my father. And he answered: here am I, who art thou my son?

19. அப்பொழுது யாக்கோபு தன் தகப்பனை நோக்கி: நான் உமது மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏசா; நீர் எனக்குச் சொன்னபடியே செய்தேன்; உம்முடைய ஆத்துமா என்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படி, நீர் எழுந்து உட்கார்ந்து, நான் வேட்டையாடிக்கொண்டு வந்ததைப் புசியும் என்றான்.

19. And Jacob said unto his father: I am Esau thy eldest son, I have done according as thou baddest me, up and sit and eat of my venison, that thy soul may bless me.

20. அப்பொழுது ஈசாக்குத் தன் குமாரனை நோக்கி: என் மகனே, இது உனக்கு இத்தனை சீக்கிரமாய் எப்படி அகப்பட்டது என்றான். அவன்: உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எனக்கு நேரிடப்பண்ணினார் என்றான்.

20. But Isaac said unto his son: How cometh it that thou hast found it so quickly my son? He answered: The LORD thy God brought it to my hand.

21. அப்பொழுது ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபை நோக்கி: என் மகனே, நீ என் குமாரனாகிய ஏசாதானோ அல்லவோ என்று நான் உன்னைத் தடவிப்பார்க்கும்படி கிட்ட வா என்றான்.

21. Then said Isaac unto Jacob: come near and let me feel thee my son, whether thou be my son Esau or not.

22. யாக்கோபு தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாக்கண்டையில் கிட்டப் போனான்; அவன் இவனைத் தடவிப்பார்த்து: சத்தம் யாக்கோபின் சத்தம், கைகளோ ஏசாவின் கைகள் என்று சொல்லி,

22. Then went Jacob to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said the voice is Jacob's voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

23. அவனுடைய கைகள் அவன் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசாவின் கைகளைப்போல ரோமமுள்ளவைகளாயிருந்தபடியினாலே, இன்னான் என்று அறியாமல், அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்து,

23. And he knew him not, because his hands were rough as his brother Esau's hands and so he blessed him.

24. நீ என் குமாரனாகிய ஏசாதானோ என்றான்; அவன்: நான்தான் என்றான்.

24. And he asked him, art thou my son Esau? And he said: that I am.

25. அப்பொழுது அவன்: என் குமாரனே, நீ வேட்டையாடிக் கொண்டுவந்ததை நான் புசித்து, என் ஆத்துமா உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படி அதை என்கிட்டக் கொண்டுவா என்றான்; அவன் அதைக் கிட்டக் கொண்டுபோனான்; அப்பொழுது அவன் புசித்தான்; பிற்பாடு, திராட்சரசம் அவனுக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து கொடுத்தான், அவன் குடித்தான்.

25. Then said he: bring me and let me eat of my son's venison, that my soul may bless thee. And he brought him, and he ate. And he brought him wine also, and he drank.

26. அப்பொழுது அவன் தகப்பானாகிய ஈசாக்கு அவனை நோக்கி: என் மகனே, நீ கிட்ட வந்து என்னை முத்தஞ்செய் என்றான்.

26. And his father Isaac said unto him: come near and kiss me my son.

27. அவன் கிட்டப் போய், அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்தான்; அப்பொழுது அவனுடைய வஸ்திரங்களின் வாசனையை மோந்து: இதோ, என் குமாரனுடைய வாசனை கர்த்தர் ஆசீர்வதித்த வயல்வெளியின் வாசனையைப்போல் இருக்கிறது.
எபிரேயர் 11:20

27. And he went to him and kissed him. And he smelled the savour of his raiment and blessed him, and said See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD(lorde) hath blessed.

28. தேவன் உனக்கு வானத்துப் பனியையும் பூமியின் கொழுமையையும் கொடுத்து, மிகுந்த தானியத்தையும் திராட்சரசத்தையும் தந்தருளுவாராக.

28. God give thee of the dew of heaven, and of the fatness of the earth and plenty of corn and wine.

29. ஜனங்கள் உன்னைச் சேவிக்கவும் ஜாதிகள் உன்னை வணங்கவும்கடவர்கள்; உன் சகோதரருக்கு எஜமானாயிருப்பாய்; உன் தாயின் பிள்ளைகள் உன்னை வணங்குவார்கள்; உன்னைச் சபிக்கிறவர்கள் சபிக்கப்பட்டவர்களும், உன்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறவர்கள் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுமாய் இருப்பார்கள் என்று சொல்லி அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தான்.

29. People be thy servants and nations bow unto thee. Be lord over thy brethren, and thy mother's children stoop unto thee. Cursed be he that curseth thee, and blessed(lessed) be he that blesseth thee.

30. ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபை ஆசீர்வதித்து முடிந்தபோது, யாக்கோபு தன் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாக்கின் சமுகத்தைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டவுடனே, அவன் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசா வேட்டையாடி வந்து சேர்ந்தான்.

30. As soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father: then came Esau his brother from his hunting:

31. அவனும் ருசியுள்ள பதார்த்தங்களைச் சமைத்து, தன் தகப்பனண்டைக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து, தகப்பனை நோக்கி: உம்முடைய ஆத்துமா என்னை ஆசீர்வதிக்கும்படி, என் தகப்பனார் எழுந்திருந்து, உம்முடைய குமாரனாகிய நான் வேட்டையாடிக் கொண்டுவந்ததைப் புசிப்பாராக என்றான்.

31. and had made also meat, and brought it in unto his father and said unto him: Arise my father and eat of thy son's venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32. அப்பொழுது அவன் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாக்கு: நீ யார் என்றான்; அதற்கு அவன்: நான் உமது மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏசா என்றான்.

32. Then his father Isaac said unto him: Who art thou? he answered I am thy eldest son Esau.

33. அப்பொழுது ஈசாக்கு மிகவும் பிரமித்து நடுங்கி: வேட்டையாடி எனக்குக் கொண்டுவந்தானே, அவன் யார்? நீ வருமுன்னே அவையெல்லாவற்றிலும் நான் புசித்து அவனை ஆசீர்வதித்தேனே, அவன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவனாகவும் இருப்பான் என்றான்.

33. And Isaac was greatly astonied out of measure, and said: Where is he then that hath hunted venison and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him, and he shall be blessed still.

34. ஏசா தன் தகப்பனுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டவுடனே, மிகவும் மனங்கசந்து உரத்த சத்தமிட்டு அலறி, தன் தகப்பனை நோக்கி: என் தகப்பனே, என்னையும் ஆசீர்வதியும் என்றான்.

34. When Esau heard the words of his father, he cried out greatly and bitterly above measure, and said unto his father: bless me also my father.

35. அதற்கு அவன்: உன் சகோதரன் தந்திரமாய் வந்து, உன்னுடைய ஆசீர்வாதத்தைப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டான் என்றான்.

35. And he said thy brother came with subtlety, and hath taken away thy blessing.

36. அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவன் பெயர் யாக்கோபு என்னப்படுவது சரியல்லவா? இதோடே இரண்டுதரம் என்னை மோசம் போக்கினான்; என் சேஷ்ட புத்திரபாகத்தை எடுத்துக்கொண்டான்; இதோ, இப்பொழுது என் ஆசீர்வாதத்தையும் வாங்கிக்கொண்டான் என்று சொல்லி, நீர் எனக்கு ஒரு ஆசீர்வாதத்தையாகிலும் வைத்துவைக்கவில்லையா என்றான்.

36. Then said he: He may well be called Jacob, for he hath undermined me now two times, first he took away my birthright: and see, now hath he taken away my blessing also. And he said, hast thou kept never a blessing for me?

37. ஈசாக்கு ஏசாவுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: இதோ, நான் அவனை உனக்கு எஜமானாக வைத்தேன்; அவன் சகோதரர் எல்லாரையும் அவனுக்கு ஊழியக்காரராகக் கொடுத்து, அவனைத் தானியத்தினாலும் திராட்சரசத்தினாலும் ஆதரித்தேன்; இப்பொழுதும் என் மகனே, நான் உனக்கு என்னசெய்வேன் என்றான்.

37. Isaac answered and said unto Esau: behold I have made him thy Lord,(LORde) and all his mother's children have I made his servants. Moreover with corn and wine have I stablished him, what can I do unto thee now my son?

38. ஏசா தன் தகப்பனை நோக்கி: என் தகப்பனே, இந்த ஒரே ஆசீர்வாதம் மாத்திரமா உம்மிடத்தில் உண்டு? என் தகப்பனே, என்னையும் ஆசீர்வதியும் என்று சொல்லி, ஏசா சத்தமிட்டு அழுதான்.

38. And Esau said unto his father: hast thou but that one blessing my father? bless me also my father: so lifted up Esau his voice and wept.

39. அப்பொழுது அவன் தகப்பனாகிய ஈசாக்கு அவனுக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: உன் வாசஸ்தலம் பூமியின் சாரத்தோடும் உயர வானத்திலிருந்து இறங்கும் பனியோடும் இருக்கும்.

39. Then Isaac his father answered and said unto him: Behold thy dwelling place shall have of the fatness of the earth, and of the dew of heaven from above.

40. உன் பட்டயத்தினாலே நீ பிழைத்து, உன் சகோதரனைச் சேவிப்பாய்; நீ மேற்கொள்ளும் காலம் வரும்போதோ, உன் கழுத்தில் இருக்கிற அவனுடைய நுகத்தடியை முறித்துப்போடுவாய் என்றான்.

40. And with thy sword shalt thou live and shalt be thy brother's servant; But the time will come, when thou shalt get the mastery, and lowse his yoke from off thy neck.

41. யாக்கோபைத் தன் தகப்பன் ஆசீர்வதித்ததினிமித்தம் ஏசா யாக்கோபைப் பகைத்து: என் தகப்பனுக்காகத் துக்கிக்கும் நாட்கள் சீக்கிரமாய் வரும், அப்பொழுது என் சகோதரனாகிய யாக்கோபைக் கொன்றுபோடுவேன் என்று ஏசா தன் இருதயத்திலே சொல்லிக்கொண்டான்.

41. And Esau hated Jacob, because of the blessing that his father blessed him withal, and said in his heart: The days of my father's sorrow are at hand, for I will slay my brother Jacob.

42. மூத்த மகனாகிய ஏசாவின் வார்த்தைகள் ரெபெக்காளுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது; அப்பொழுது அவள் தன் இளைய மகனாகிய யாக்கோபை அழைத்து: உன் சகோதரனாகிய ஏசா உன்னைக் கொன்றுபோட நினைத்து, தன்னைத் தேற்றிக்கொள்ளுகிறான்.

42. And these words of Esau her eldest son, were told to Rebecca. And she sent and called Jacob her youngest son, and said unto him: behold thy brother Esau threateneth to kill thee:

43. ஆகையால், என் மகனே, நான் சொல்வதைக் கேட்டு, எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு, ஆரானில் இருக்கிற என் சகோதரனாகிய லாபானிடத்துக்கு ஓடிப்போய்,

43. Now therefore my son hear my voice, make thee ready, and flee to Laban my brother at Haran:

44. உன் சகோதரன் உன்மேல் வைத்த கோபம் தணியுமட்டும் சிலநாள் அவனிடத்திலே இரு.

44. And tarry with him a while, until thy brother's fierceness be swaged,

45. உன் சகோதரன் உன்மேல் வைத்த கோபம் தணிந்து, நீ அவனுக்குச் செய்ததை அவன் மறந்தபின், நான் ஆள் அனுப்பி, அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து உன்னை அழைப்பிப்பேன்; நான் ஒரே நாளில் உங்கள் இருவரையும் ஏன் இழந்துபோகவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

45. and until thy brother's wrath turn away from thee, and he forget that which thou hast done to him. Then will I send and fetch thee away from thence. Why should I lose you both in one day?

46. பின்பு, ரெபெக்காள் ஈசாக்கை நோக்கி: ஏத்தின் குமாரத்திகளினிமித்தம் என் உயிர் எனக்கு வெறுப்பாயிருக்கிறது; இந்தத் தேசத்துப் பெண்களாகிய ஏத்தின் குமாரத்திகளில் யாக்கோபு ஒரு பெண்ணைக் கொள்வானானால் என் உயிர் இருந்து ஆவதென்ன என்றாள்.

46. And Rebecca spake to Isaac: I am weary of my life, for fear of the daughters of Heth. If Jacob take a wife of the daughters of Heth, such one as these are, or of the daughters of the land, what lust should I have to live?
