1. பெலிஸ்தர் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைப் பிடித்து, அதை எபெனேசரிலிருந்து அஸ்தோத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

1. Then the Philistims tooke the Arke of God and caried it from Eben-ezer vnto Ashdod,

2. பெலிஸ்தர் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைப் பிடித்து, தாகோனின் கோவிலிலே கொண்டுவந்து, தாகோனண்டையிலே வைத்தார்கள்.

2. Euen the Philistims tooke ye Arke of God, and brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.

3. அஸ்தோத் ஊரார் மறுநாள் காலமே எழுந்திருந்து வந்தபோது, இதோ, தாகோன் கர்த்தருடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்துகிடந்தது; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் தாகோனை எடுத்து, அதை அதின் ஸ்தானத்திலே திரும்பவும் நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

3. And when they of Ashdod rose the next day in the morning, beholde, Dagon was fallen vpon his face on the ground before the Arke of the Lord, and they tooke vp Dagon, and set him in his place againe.

4. அவர்கள் மறுநாள் காலமே எழுந்திருந்து வந்தபோது, இதோ, தாகோன் கர்த்தருடைய பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து கிடந்ததுமல்லாமல், தாகோனின் தலையும் அதின் இரண்டு கைகளும் வாசற்படியின்மேல் உடைபட்டுக் கிடந்தது; தாகோனுக்கு உடல்மாத்திரம் மீதியாயிருந்தது.

4. Also they rose vp earely in the morning the next day, and beholde, Dagon was fallen vpon his face on the ground before the Arke of the Lord, and the head of Dagon and the two palmes of his hands were cut off vpon the thresholde: onely the stumpe of Dagon was left to him.

5. ஆதலால் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் தாகோனின் பூஜாசாரிகளும் தாகோனின் கோவிலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கிற யாவரும் அஸ்தோத்திலிருக்கிற தாகோனுடைய வாசற்படியை மிதிக்கிறதில்லை.

5. Therefore the Priests of Dagon, and all that come into Dagons house tread not on the thresholde of Dagon in Ashdod, vnto this day.

6. அஸ்தோத் ஊராரைப் பாழாக்கும்படிக்கு கர்த்தருடைய கை அவர்கள்மேல் பாரமாயிருந்தது; அவர் அஸ்தோத்தின் ஜனங்களையும், அதின் எல்லைகளுக்குள் இருக்கிறவர்களையும் மூலவியாதியினால் வாதித்தார்.

6. But the hand of the Lord was heauie vpon them of Ashdod, and destroyed them, and smote them with the emerods, both Ashdod, and the coastes thereof.

7. இப்படி நடந்ததை அஸ்தோத்தின் ஜனங்கள் கண்டபோது: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய கை நமதுமேலும், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய தாகோனின்மேலும் கடினமாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவருடைய பெட்டி நம்மிடத்தில் இருக்கலாகாது என்று சொல்லி;

7. And when the men of Ashdod sawe this, they sayd, Let not the Arke of the God of Israel abide with vs: for his hand is sore vpon vs and vpon Dagon our god.

8. பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகளையெல்லாம் அழைப்பித்து, தங்களண்டையிலே கூடிவரச் செய்து: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நாம் என்ன செய்யவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டார்கள். அவர்கள்: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை காத் பட்டணமட்டும் எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டும் என்றார்கள்; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனார்கள்.

8. They sent therefore and gathered all the princes of the Philistims vnto them, and sayde, What shall we doe with the Arke of the God of Israel? And they answered, Let the Arke of the God of Israel be caried about vnto Gath: and they caried the Arke of the God of Israel about.

9. அதை எடுத்துச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு போனபின்பு, கர்த்தருடைய கை அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின்மேல் மகா உக்கிரமாக இறங்கிற்று; அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் மனுஷருக்குள், சிறியவர் துவக்கிப் பெரியவர்மட்டும், மூலவியாதியை உண்டாக்கி, அவர்களை வாதித்தார்.

9. And when they had caried it about, the hand of the Lord was against the citie with a very great destruction, and he smote the men of the citie both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret partes.

10. அதினால் அவர்கள் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எக்ரோனுக்கு அனுப்பினார்கள்; தேவனுடைய பெட்டி எக்ரோனுக்கு வருகிறபோது, எக்ரோன் ஊரார்: எங்களையும் எங்கள் ஜனங்களையும் கொன்றுபோட, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை எடுத்து, எங்களண்டைக்குச் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள் என்று கூக்குரலிட்டார்கள்.

10. Therefore they sent the Arke of God to Ekron: and assoone as the Arke of God came to Ekron, the Ekronites cryed out, saying, They haue brought the Arke of the God of Israel to vs to slay vs and our people.

11. அவர்கள் பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகளையெல்லாம் கூடிவரும்படி அழைத்து: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவன் எங்களையும் எங்கள் ஜனங்களையும் கொன்றுபோடாதபடிக்கு, அவருடைய பெட்டியை அதின் ஸ்தானத்திற்குத் திரும்ப அனுப்பிவிடுங்கள் என்றார்கள்; அந்தப் பட்டணமெங்கும் சாவு மும்முரமாயிருந்தது; தேவனுடைய கை அங்கே மகா பாரமாயிருந்தது.

11. Therefore they sent, and gathered together all the princes of the Philistims and sayd, Sende away the Arke of the God of Israel, and let it returne to his owne place, that it slay vs not and our people: for there was a destruction and death throughout all the citie, and the hand of God was very sore there.

12. செத்துப்போகாதிருந்தவர்கள் மூலவியாதியினால் வாதிக்கப்பட்டதினால், அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் கூக்குரல் வானபரியந்தம் எழும்பிற்று.

12. And the men that dyed not, were smitten with the emerods: and the cry of the citie went vp to heauen.
