1. சாமுவேல் என்னும் பிள்ளையாண்டான் ஏலிக்கு முன்பாகக் கர்த்தருக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்துகொண்டிருந்தான்; அந்நாட்களிலே கர்த்தருடைய வசனம் அபூர்வமாயிருந்தது; பிரத்தியட்சமான தரிசனம் இருந்ததில்லை.

1. And the chylde Samuel ministred vnto the Lorde before Eli, and the worde of the Lord was precious in those dayes, neither was there any open vision.

2. ஒருநாள் ஏலி தன்னுடைய ஸ்தானத்திலே படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; அவன் பார்க்கக்கூடாதபடிக்கு அவனுடைய கண்கள் இருளடைந்திருந்தது.

2. And as at that tyme Eli lay in his place, his eyes began to waxe dymme that he coulde not see.

3. தேவனுடைய பெட்டி இருக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் தேவனுடைய விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகுமுன்னே சாமுவேலும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

3. And yet the lampe of God went out, Samuel layde hym downe to sleepe in the temple of the Lord, where the arke of God was.

4. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர், சாமுவேலைக் கூப்பிட்டார். அதற்கு அவன்: இதோ, இருக்கிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,

4. And the Lorde called Samuel. And he aunswered, I am here.

5. ஏலியினிடத்தில் ஓடி, இதோ, இருக்கிறேன்; என்னைக் கூப்பிட்டீரே என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் கூப்பிடவில்லை, திரும்பிப்போய்ப் படுத்துக்கொள் என்றான்; அவன் போய்ப்படுத்துக்கொண்டான்.

5. And he ran vnto Eli, and sayde: Here am I, for thou calledst me. And he said, I called thee not, go againe and sleepe. And he went, and layde hym downe to sleepe.

6. மறுபடியும் கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலே என்று கூப்பிட்டார்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் எழுந்திருந்து ஏலியினிடத்தில் போய்: இதோ, இருக்கிறேன்; என்னைக் கூப்பிட்டீரே என்றான். அதற்கு அவன் என் மகனே, நான் உன்னைக் கூப்பிடவில்லை, திரும்பிப்போய்ப் படுத்துக்கொள் என்றான்.

6. And the Lorde called once againe, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and sayde: I am here, for thou diddest call me. And he aunswered: I called thee not my sonne, go againe and sleepe.

7. சாமுவேல் கர்த்தரை இன்னும் அறியாதிருந்தான்; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு இன்னும் வெளிப்படவில்லை.

7. Samuel knewe not yet the Lorde, neither was the worde of the Lorde yet opened vnto hym.

8. கர்த்தர் மறுபடியும் மூன்றாம் விசை: சாமுவேலே என்று கூப்பிட்டார். அவன் எழுந்திருந்து ஏலியினிடத்தில் போய், இதோ, இருக்கிறேன்; என்னைக் கூப்பிட்டீரே என்றான். அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் பிள்ளையாண்டானைக் கூப்பிடுகிறார் என்று ஏலி அறிந்து,

8. And the Lorde went to, and called Samuel the thirde tyme. And he arose and went to Eli, and saide: I am here, for thou hast called me. And Eli perceaued that the Lord had called the childe.

9. சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நீ போய்ப்படுத்துக்கொள்; உன்னைக் கூப்பிட்டால், அப்பொழுது நீ: கர்த்தாவே சொல்லும்; அடியேன் கேட்கிறேன் என்று சொல் என்றான்; சாமுவேல் போய், தன்னுடைய ஸ்தானத்திலே படுத்துக்கொண்டான்.

9. Therefore Eli sayde vnto Samuel: Go and sleepe, and yf he call thee, then say: Speake Lorde, for thy seruaunt heareth thee. So Samuel went, and slept in his place.

10. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் வந்து நின்று, முன்போல: சாமுவேலே சாமுவேலே என்று கூப்பிட்டார்; அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்; சொல்லும்; அடியேன் கேட்கிறேன் என்றான்.

10. And the Lorde came, and stoode and called as before, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel aunswered: Speake, for thy seruaunt heareth.

11. கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: இதோ. நான் இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு காரியத்தைச் செய்வேன்; அதைக் கேட்கிற ஒவ்வொருவனுடைய இரண்டு காதுகளிலும் அது தொனித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்.

11. And the Lorde saide to Samuel: Beholde, I wyll do a thing in Israel, that both the eares of as many as heareth it shall tyngle.

12. நான் ஏலியின் குடும்பத்திற்கு விரோதமாகச் சொன்ன யாவையும், அவன்மேல் அந்நாளிலே வரப்பண்ணுவேன்; அதைத் தொடங்கவும் அதை முடிக்கவும் போகிறேன்.

12. In that day, I wyll rayse vp against Eli all thynges whiche I haue spoken concernyng his house: when I begyn, I wyll also make an ende.

13. அவன் குமாரர் தங்கள்மேல் சாபத்தை வரப்பண்ணுகிறதை அவன் அறிந்திருந்தும், அவர்களை அடக்காமற்போன பாவத்தினிமித்தம், நான் அவன் குடும்பத்துக்கு என்றும் நீங்காத நியாயத்தீர்ப்புச் செய்வேன் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தேன்.

13. I haue tolde hym that I wyll iudge his house for euer, for the wickednesse which he knoweth: For whe [the people] cursed his sonnes for ye same [wickednesse] he hath not corrected them.

14. அதினிமித்தம் ஏலியின் குடும்பத்தார் செய்த அக்கிரமம் ஒருபோதும் பலியினாலாவது காணிக்கையினாலாவது நிவிர்த்தியாவதில்லை என்று ஏலியின் குடும்பத்தைக்குறித்து ஆணையிட்டிருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.

14. And therfore I haue sworne vnto the house of Eli, that the wickednesse of Elies house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offeryng for euer.

15. சாமுவேல் விடியற்காலமட்டும் படுத்திருந்து, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் கதவுகளைத் திறந்தான்; சாமுவேல் ஏலிக்கு அந்தத் தரிசனத்தை அறிவிக்கப் பயந்தான்.

15. Samuel slept vntyl the mornyng, and opened the doores of the house of the Lorde: and Samuel feared to shewe Eli the vision.

16. ஏலியோ: சாமுவேலே, என் மகனே என்று சாமுவேலைக் கூப்பிட்டான். அவன்: இதோ, இருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

16. Then Eli called Samuel, and sayde: Samuel, my sonne. And he aunswered: Here am I.

17. அப்பொழுது அவன்: கர்த்தர் உன்னிடத்தில் சொன்ன காரியம் என்ன? எனக்கு அதை மறைக்கவேண்டாம்; அவர் உன்னிடத்தில் சொன்ன சகல காரியத்திலும் யாதொன்றை எனக்கு மறைத்தாயானால், தேவன் உனக்கு அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

17. He saide: What is that the Lord hath saide vnto thee? I pray thee hyde it not from me: God do so to thee, & more also, if thou hyde any thyng from me of all that he sayde vnto thee.

18. அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் ஒன்றையும் அவனுக்கு மறைக்காமல், அந்தக் காரியங்களையெல்லாம் அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தான். அதற்கு அவன்: அவர் கர்த்தர்: அவர் தமது பார்வைக்கு நலமானதைச் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

18. And Samuel tolde hym euerywhyt, and hyd nothyng from hym. And he saide: It is the Lord, let hym do what seemeth hym good.

19. சாமுவேல் வளர்ந்தான்; கர்த்தர் அவனுடனேகூட இருந்தார்; அவர் தம்முடைய எல்லா வார்த்தைகளிலும் ஒன்றையாகிலும் தரையிலே விழுந்து போகவிடவில்லை.

19. And Samuel grewe, and the Lorde was with hym, and left none of his wordes vnperfourmed.

20. சாமுவேல் கர்த்தருடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிதான் என்று தாண்முதல் பெயெர்செபாமட்டுமுள்ள சகல இஸ்ரவேலருக்கும் விளங்கினது.

20. And all Israel, from Dan to Beerseba, wyst that faythfull Samuel was the Lordes prophete.

21. கர்த்தர் பின்னும் சீலோவிலே தரிசனம் தந்தருளினார்; கர்த்தர் சீலோவிலே தம்முடைய வார்த்தையினாலே சாமுவேலுக்குத் தம்மை வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.

21. And the Lorde appeared againe in Silo: for the Lorde opened him selfe to Samuel in Silo, through the worde of the Lorde.
