1. சாமுவேல் என்னும் பிள்ளையாண்டான் ஏலிக்கு முன்பாகக் கர்த்தருக்குப் பணிவிடை செய்துகொண்டிருந்தான்; அந்நாட்களிலே கர்த்தருடைய வசனம் அபூர்வமாயிருந்தது; பிரத்தியட்சமான தரிசனம் இருந்ததில்லை.

1. And whan the childe Samuel mynistred vnto the LORDE vnder Eli, the worde of ye LORDE was deare at the same tyme, nether was there eny sure & manifest vision.

2. ஒருநாள் ஏலி தன்னுடைய ஸ்தானத்திலே படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்; அவன் பார்க்கக்கூடாதபடிக்கு அவனுடைய கண்கள் இருளடைந்திருந்தது.

2. And it fortuned at the same tyme, that Eli laye in his place, and his eyes beganne to be dymme, so that he coulde not se.

3. தேவனுடைய பெட்டி இருக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் தேவனுடைய விளக்கு அணைந்துபோகுமுன்னே சாமுவேலும் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

3. And Samuel had layed him downe in ye temple of the LORDE (where the Arke of God was) before ye lampe of God was put out.

4. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர், சாமுவேலைக் கூப்பிட்டார். அதற்கு அவன்: இதோ, இருக்கிறேன் என்று சொல்லி,

4. And the LORDE called Samuel. He answered: Beholde, here am I.

5. ஏலியினிடத்தில் ஓடி, இதோ, இருக்கிறேன்; என்னைக் கூப்பிட்டீரே என்றான். அதற்கு அவன்: நான் கூப்பிடவில்லை, திரும்பிப்போய்ப் படுத்துக்கொள் என்றான்; அவன் போய்ப்படுத்துக்கொண்டான்.

5. And he ranne vnto Eli, & sayde: Beholde, here am I, thou hast called me. But he saide: I haue not called the, go thy waye agayne, and laye the downe to slepe. And he wente his waye, and layed him downe to slepe.

6. மறுபடியும் கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலே என்று கூப்பிட்டார்; அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் எழுந்திருந்து ஏலியினிடத்தில் போய்: இதோ, இருக்கிறேன்; என்னைக் கூப்பிட்டீரே என்றான். அதற்கு அவன் என் மகனே, நான் உன்னைக் கூப்பிடவில்லை, திரும்பிப்போய்ப் படுத்துக்கொள் என்றான்.

6. The LORDE called againe: Samuel. And Samuel arose, & wente vnto Eli, & sayde: Beholde, here am I, thou hast called me. Neuertheles he sayde: My sonne, I haue not called the. So thy waye agayne, and laye the downe to slepe.

7. சாமுவேல் கர்த்தரை இன்னும் அறியாதிருந்தான்; கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தை அவனுக்கு இன்னும் வெளிப்படவில்லை.

7. As for Samuel, he knewe not the LORDE as yet, & the worde of ye LORDE was not yet shewed vnto him.

8. கர்த்தர் மறுபடியும் மூன்றாம் விசை: சாமுவேலே என்று கூப்பிட்டார். அவன் எழுந்திருந்து ஏலியினிடத்தில் போய், இதோ, இருக்கிறேன்; என்னைக் கூப்பிட்டீரே என்றான். அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் பிள்ளையாண்டானைக் கூப்பிடுகிறார் என்று ஏலி அறிந்து,

8. And ye LORDE called Samuel ye thirde tyme. And he arose, & wente vnto Eli, & sayde: Beholde, here am I, thou hast called me. Then perceaued Eli yt the LORDE called ye childe,

9. சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: நீ போய்ப்படுத்துக்கொள்; உன்னைக் கூப்பிட்டால், அப்பொழுது நீ: கர்த்தாவே சொல்லும்; அடியேன் கேட்கிறேன் என்று சொல் என்றான்; சாமுவேல் போய், தன்னுடைய ஸ்தானத்திலே படுத்துக்கொண்டான்.

9. & he sayde vnto him: Go thy waye agayne, & laye the downe to slepe: and yf the LORDE call the eny more, then saye: Speake LORDE, for yi seruaunt heareth. Samuel wete his waye, and layed him downe in his place.

10. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் வந்து நின்று, முன்போல: சாமுவேலே சாமுவேலே என்று கூப்பிட்டார்; அதற்குச் சாமுவேல்; சொல்லும்; அடியேன் கேட்கிறேன் என்றான்.

10. The came ye LORDE, & stode, and called like as afore: Samuel, Samuel. And Samuel sayde: Speake (LORDE) for thy seruaunt heareth.

11. கர்த்தர் சாமுவேலை நோக்கி: இதோ. நான் இஸ்ரவேலில் ஒரு காரியத்தைச் செய்வேன்; அதைக் கேட்கிற ஒவ்வொருவனுடைய இரண்டு காதுகளிலும் அது தொனித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கும்.

11. And the LORDE saide vnto Samuel: Beholde, I do a thinge in Israel, yt who so euer shall heare it, both his eares shal glowe.

12. நான் ஏலியின் குடும்பத்திற்கு விரோதமாகச் சொன்ன யாவையும், அவன்மேல் அந்நாளிலே வரப்பண்ணுவேன்; அதைத் தொடங்கவும் அதை முடிக்கவும் போகிறேன்.

12. In yt daie will I rayse vp vpon Eli all yt I haue spoke cocernynge his house. I will take it in hande, & perfourme it:

13. அவன் குமாரர் தங்கள்மேல் சாபத்தை வரப்பண்ணுகிறதை அவன் அறிந்திருந்தும், அவர்களை அடக்காமற்போன பாவத்தினிமித்தம், நான் அவன் குடும்பத்துக்கு என்றும் நீங்காத நியாயத்தீர்ப்புச் செய்வேன் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தேன்.

13. for I haue tolde him, yt I wilbe Iudge ouer his house for euer, because of the wickednes, yt he knewe how shamefully his childre behaued the selues, and hath not once loked sowerly therto.

14. அதினிமித்தம் ஏலியின் குடும்பத்தார் செய்த அக்கிரமம் ஒருபோதும் பலியினாலாவது காணிக்கையினாலாவது நிவிர்த்தியாவதில்லை என்று ஏலியின் குடும்பத்தைக்குறித்து ஆணையிட்டிருக்கிறேன் என்றார்.

14. Therfore haue I sworne vnto ye house of Eli, yt this wickednes of ye house of Eli shall not be recocyled nether wt sacrifice ner wt meatoffringe for euer.

15. சாமுவேல் விடியற்காலமட்டும் படுத்திருந்து, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் கதவுகளைத் திறந்தான்; சாமுவேல் ஏலிக்கு அந்தத் தரிசனத்தை அறிவிக்கப் பயந்தான்.

15. And Samuel laye vnto ye morow, & opened the dores of the house of the LORDE. But Samuel was afrayed to tell the vysion vnto Eli.

16. ஏலியோ: சாமுவேலே, என் மகனே என்று சாமுவேலைக் கூப்பிட்டான். அவன்: இதோ, இருக்கிறேன் என்றான்.

16. Then Eli called him & sayde: Samuel my sonne. He answered: Beholde, here am I.

17. அப்பொழுது அவன்: கர்த்தர் உன்னிடத்தில் சொன்ன காரியம் என்ன? எனக்கு அதை மறைக்கவேண்டாம்; அவர் உன்னிடத்தில் சொன்ன சகல காரியத்திலும் யாதொன்றை எனக்கு மறைத்தாயானால், தேவன் உனக்கு அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

17. He sayde: What is ye worde yt the LORDE hath spoke vnto the? hyde it not fro me. God do this & that vnto ye, yf thou hyde oughte fro me, of all that he hath talked wt the.

18. அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் ஒன்றையும் அவனுக்கு மறைக்காமல், அந்தக் காரியங்களையெல்லாம் அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தான். அதற்கு அவன்: அவர் கர்த்தர்: அவர் தமது பார்வைக்கு நலமானதைச் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

18. Then Samuel tolde him alltogether, & hyd nothinge from him. He sayde: It is the LORDE, let him do what pleaseth him.

19. சாமுவேல் வளர்ந்தான்; கர்த்தர் அவனுடனேகூட இருந்தார்; அவர் தம்முடைய எல்லா வார்த்தைகளிலும் ஒன்றையாகிலும் தரையிலே விழுந்து போகவிடவில்லை.

19. Samuel grewe vp, & the LORDE was wt him, & there fell none of all his wordes vpo the earth.

20. சாமுவேல் கர்த்தருடைய தீர்க்கதரிசிதான் என்று தாண்முதல் பெயெர்செபாமட்டுமுள்ள சகல இஸ்ரவேலருக்கும் விளங்கினது.

20. And all Israel fro Dan vnto Bersaba, knewe yt Samuel was faithfull to be a prophet of the LORDE.

21. கர்த்தர் பின்னும் சீலோவிலே தரிசனம் தந்தருளினார்; கர்த்தர் சீலோவிலே தம்முடைய வார்த்தையினாலே சாமுவேலுக்குத் தம்மை வெளிப்படுத்தினார்.

21. And the LORDE appeared agayne at Silo: for the LORDE shewed him selfe vnto Samuel at Silo, thorow the worde of the LORDE.
