1. அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் இஸ்ரவேலர் அனைவரையும் நோக்கி: இதோ, நீங்கள் எனக்குச் சொன்னபடியெல்லாம் உங்கள் சொற்கேட்டு உங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்தினேன்.

1. And Samuel said to all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened to your voice in all that ye said to me, and have made a king over you.

2. இப்போதும் இதோ, ராஜாவானவர் உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகச் சஞ்சரித்துவருகிறார்; நானோ கிழவனும் நரைத்தவனுமானேன்; என் குமாரர் உங்களோடிருப்பார்கள்; நான் என் சிறுவயதுமுதல் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் உங்களுக்கு முன்பாகச் சஞ்சரித்துவந்தேன்.

2. And now behold, the king walks before you; and I am old and grey-headed; and behold, my sons are with you; and I have walked before you from my youth up to this day.

3. Here I am: testify against me before Jehovah, and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I injured? or of whose hand have I received any ransom and blinded mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it to you.

4. அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நீர் எங்களுக்கு அநியாயஞ் செய்யவும் இல்லை; எங்களுக்கு இடுக்கண் செய்யவும் இல்லை; ஒருவர் கையிலும் ஒன்றும் வாங்கவும் இல்லை என்றார்கள்.

4. And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, and thou hast not injured us, neither hast thou taken aught of any man's hand.

5. அதற்கு அவன்: நீங்கள் என் கையில் ஒன்றும் கண்டுபிடிக்கவில்லை என்பதற்குக் கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு எதிராகச் சாட்சியாயிருக்கிறார்; அவர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவரும் இன்று அதற்குச் சாட்சி என்றான்; அதற்கு அவர்கள்: அவர் சாட்சிதான் என்றார்கள்.

5. And he said to them, Jehovah is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found aught in my hand! And [the people] said, [He is] witness!

6. அப்புறம் சாமுவேல் ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: மோசேயையும், ஆரோனையும், ஏற்படுத்தினவரும், உங்கள் பிதாக்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினவரும் கர்த்தரே.

6. And Samuel said to the people, [It is] Jehovah who appointed Moses and Aaron, and who brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

7. இப்பொழுதும் கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கும் உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கும் செய்துவந்த எல்லா நீதியான கிரியைகளைக்குறித்தும், நான் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் உங்களோடே நியாயம் பேசும்படிக்கு நீங்கள் நில்லுங்கள்.

7. And now stand still, that I may plead with you before Jehovah of all the righteous acts of Jehovah which he did to you and to your fathers.

8. யாக்கோபு எகிப்திலே போயிருக்கும்போது, உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டார்கள், அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயையும், ஆரோனையும் அனுப்பினார்; அவர்கள் உங்கள் பிதாக்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவந்து, அவர்களை இந்த ஸ்தலத்திலே குடியிருக்கப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

8. When Jacob had come into Egypt, and your fathers cried to Jehovah, then Jehovah sent Moses and Aaron, and they brought your fathers forth out of Egypt, and made them dwell in this place.

9. அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை மறந்துபோகிறபோது, அவர் அவர்களை ஆத்சோரின் சேனாபதியாகிய சிசெராவின் கையிலும், பெலிஸ்தரின் கையிலும், மோவாபிய ராஜாவின் கையிலும் விற்றுப்போட்டார்; இவர்கள் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

9. And they forgot Jehovah their God, and he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

10. ஆகையால் அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி முறையிட்டு: நாங்கள் கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பாகால்களையும் அஸ்தரோத்தையும் சேவித்ததினாலே, பாவஞ்செய்தோம்; இப்போதும் எங்கள் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கு எங்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சியும்; இனி உம்மைச் சேவிப்போம் என்றார்கள்.

10. And they cried to Jehovah and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken Jehovah, and have served the Baals and the Ashtoreths; and now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.

11. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் எருபாகாலையும், பேதானையும், யெப்தாவையும் சாமுவேலையும் அனுப்பி, நீங்கள் பயமில்லாமல் குடியிருக்கும்படிக்குச் சுற்றிலும் இருந்த உங்கள் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கும் உங்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்தார்.

11. And Jehovah sent Jerubbaal and Bedan and Jephthah and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies round about, so that ye dwelt in safety.

12. அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜாவாகிய நாகாஸ் உங்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் வருகிறதை நீங்கள் கண்டபோது, உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரே உங்களுக்கு ராஜாவாயிருந்தும், நீங்கள் என்னை நோக்கி: அப்படியல்ல, ஒரு ராஜா எங்கள்மேல் ஆளவேண்டும் என்றீர்கள்.

12. But when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said to me, Nay, but a king shall reign over us; when Jehovah your God was your king.

13. இப்பொழுதும் நீங்கள் வேண்டும் என்று விரும்பித் தெரிந்துகொண்ட ராஜா, இதோ, இருக்கிறார்; இதோ, கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜாவை ஏற்படுத்தினார்.

13. And now behold, the king whom ye have chosen, whom ye have asked for! and behold, Jehovah has set a king over you.

14. நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய வாக்குக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணாமல் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, அவரைச் சேவித்து, அவருடைய சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்தால், நீங்களும் உங்களை ஆளுகிற ராஜாவும் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவர்களாயிருப்பீர்கள்.

14. If ye fear Jehovah, and serve him, and hearken to his voice, and rebel not against the commandment of Jehovah, then both ye and the king also that reigns over you shall continue following Jehovah your God.

15. நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாமல், கர்த்தருடைய வாக்குக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம் பண்ணினீர்களானால், கர்த்தருடைய கை உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு விரோதமாயிருந்ததுபோல உங்களுக்கும் விரோதமாயிருக்கும்.

15. But if ye will not hearken to the voice of Jehovah, and if ye rebel against the commandment of Jehovah, then will the hand of Jehovah be against you, as against your fathers.

16. இப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகச் செய்யும் பெரிய காரியத்தை நின்று பாருங்கள்.

16. Now therefore stand and see this great thing which Jehovah will do before your eyes.

17. இன்று கோதுமை அறுப்பின் நாள் அல்லவா? நீங்கள் உங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜாவைக் கேட்டதினால், கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செய்த உங்களுடைய பொல்லாப்புப் பெரியதென்று நீங்கள் கண்டு உணரும்படிக்கு, நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணுவேன்; அப்பொழுது இடிமுழக்கங்களையும் மழையையும் கட்டளையிடுவார் என்று சொல்லி,

17. Is it not wheat-harvest to-day? I will call unto Jehovah, and he will send thunder and rain; and ye shall perceive and see that your wickedness is great which ye have done in the sight of Jehovah in asking for yourselves a king.

18. சாமுவேல் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினான்; அன்றையதினமே கர்த்தர் இடிமுழக்கங்களையும் மழையையும் கட்டளையிட்டார்; அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் கர்த்தருக்கும் சாமுவேலுக்கும் மிகவும் பயந்து;

18. And Samuel called to Jehovah; and Jehovah sent thunder and rain that day. And all the people greatly feared Jehovah and Samuel.

19. சாமுவேலைப் பார்த்து: நாங்கள் சாகாதபடிக்கு உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் உம்முடைய அடியாருக்காக விண்ணப்பம் செய்யும்; நாங்கள் செய்த எல்லாப் பாவங்களோடும் எங்களுக்கு ஒரு ராஜா வேண்டும் என்று கேட்ட இந்தப் பாவத்தையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டோம் என்று ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் சொன்னார்கள்.

19. And all the people said to Samuel, Pray to Jehovah thy God for thy servants, that we die not; for we have added to all our sins the wickedness to ask for ourselves a king.

20. அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: பயப்படாதேயுங்கள்; நீங்கள் இந்தப் பொல்லாப்பையெல்லாம் செய்தீர்கள்; ஆகிலும் கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்காமல் கர்த்தரை உங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் சேவியுங்கள்.

20. And Samuel said to the people, Fear not: *ye* have done all this wickedness; yet turn not aside from following Jehovah, and serve Jehovah with all your heart;

21. விலகிப்போகாதிருங்கள்; மற்றப்படி பிரயோஜனமற்றதும் இரட்சிக்கமாட்டாததுமாயிருக்கிற வீணானவைகளைப் பின்பற்றுவீர்கள்; அவைகள் வீணானவைகளே.

21. and turn ye not aside; for [it would be] after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver; for they are vain.

22. கர்த்தர் உங்களைத் தமக்கு ஜனமாக்கிக்கொள்ளப் பிரியமானபடியினால், கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய மகத்துவமான நாமத்தினிமித்தம் தமது ஜனத்தைக் கைவிடமாட்டார்.
ரோமர் 11:1-2

22. For Jehovah will not cast away his people for his great name's sake; because it has pleased Jehovah to make you his people.

23. நானும் உங்களுக்காக விண்ணப்பம் செய்யாதிருப்பேனாகில் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்கிறவனாயிருப்பேன்; அது எனக்குத் தூரமாயிருப்பதாக; நன்மையும் செவ்வையுமான வழியை நான் உங்களுக்குப் போதிப்பேன்.

23. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Jehovah in ceasing to pray for you; and I will teach you the good and right way.

24. நீங்கள் எப்படியும் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயந்து, உங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உண்மையாய் அவரைச் சேவிக்கக்கடவீர்கள்; அவர் உங்களிடத்தில் எவ்வளவு மகிமையான காரியங்களைச் செய்தார் என்பதைச் சிந்தித்துப்பாருங்கள்.

24. Only, fear Jehovah, and serve him in truth, with all your heart; for see how great things he has done for you.

25. நீங்கள் இன்னும் பொல்லாப்பைச் செய்யவே செய்வீர்களானால், நீங்களும் உங்கள் ராஜாவும் நாசமடைவீர்கள் என்றான்.

25. But if ye do wickedly, ye shall perish, both ye and your king.
