1. அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் தைலக்குப்பியை எடுத்து, அவன் தலையின்மேல் வார்த்து, அவனை முத்தஞ்செய்து: கர்த்தர் உன்னைத் தம்முடைய சுதந்தரத்தின்மேல் தலைவனாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினார் அல்லவா?

1. And then Samuel took a box of oil and poured it upon his head and kissed him and said: the LORD hath anointed thee to be a captain over his inheritance.

2. நீ இன்றைக்கு என்னைவிட்டுப் போகிறபோது, பென்யமீன் எல்லையாகிய செல்சாகில் ராகேலின் கல்லறையண்டையில் இரண்டு மனுஷரைக் காண்பாய்; அவர்கள் உன்னைப் பார்த்து: நீ தேடப்போன கழுதைகள் அகப்பட்டது; இதோ, உன் தகப்பன் கழுதைகளின் மேலிருந்த கவலையைவிட்டு, உங்களுக்காக விசாரப்பட்டு, என் மகனுக்காக என்ன செய்வேன்? என்கிறான் என்று சொல்லுவார்கள்.

2. And now when thou art departed from me, thou shalt meet two men by Rahel's sepulchre in the borders of Benjamin even at Zalezah. And they will say unto thee, the asses which thou wentest to seek, are found see, thy father hath left the care of the Asses and sorroweth for you saying: what shall I do for my son?

3. நீ அவ்விடத்தை விட்டு அப்புறம் கடந்துபோய், தாபோரிலுள்ள சமபூமியிலே சேரும்போது, தேவனைப் பணியும்படி பெத்தேலுக்குப் போகிற மூன்று மனுஷர் அங்கே உன்னைக் கண்டு சந்திப்பார்கள்; ஒருவன் மூன்று ஆட்டுக்குட்டிகளையும், இன்னொருவன் மூன்று அப்பங்களையும், வேறொருவன் திராட்சரசமுள்ள ஒரு துருத்தியையும் கொண்டுவந்து,

3. Then thou shalt go forth from thence and shalt come to the oak of Thabor. And there shalt thou meet three men going to God to Bethel: one carrying three kids: and another carrying three loaves of bread: and the third carrying a bottle of wine.

4. உன்னுடைய சுகசெய்தியை விசாரித்து, உனக்கு இரண்டு அப்பங்களைக் கொடுப்பார்கள்; அவைகளை நீ அவர்கள் கையிலே வாங்கவேண்டும்.

4. And they will salute thee and give thee two loaves of bread: which thou shalt receive of their hands.

5. பின்பு பெலிஸ்தரின் தாணையம் இருக்கிற தேவனுடைய மலைக்குப் போவாய்; அங்கே நீ பட்டணத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கையில், மேடையிலிருந்து இறங்கி வருகிற தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் கூட்டத்திற்கு எதிர்ப்படுவாய்; அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் தம்புரும், மேளமும், நாகசுரமும், சுரமண்டலமும் போகும்; அவர்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுவார்கள்.

5. After that thou shalt come to the hill of God, where the Philistines keep their watch. And when thou art come thither to the city thou shalt meet a company of prophets coming down from the hill, with a psalter, a timbrel, a pipe, and a harp before them, and they prophesying.

6. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி உன்மேல் இறங்குவார்; நீ அவர்களோடேகூடத் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லி, வேறு மனுஷனாவாய்.

6. And the spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.

7. இந்த அடையாளங்கள் உனக்கு நேரிடும்போது, சமயத்துக்கு ஏற்றபடி நீ செய்; தேவன் உன்னோடே இருக்கிறார்.

7. And when these signs are chanced thee, then do what thou hast to do, for God is with thee.

8. நீ எனக்கு முன்னே கில்காலுக்கு இறங்கிப்போ; சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளையும் சமாதானபலிகளையும் செலுத்தும்படிக்கு, நான் உன்னிடத்தில் வருவேன்; நான் உன்னிடத்தில் வந்து, நீ செய்யவேண்டியதை உனக்கு அறிவிக்குமட்டும், ஏழு நாள் காத்திரு என்றான்.

8. And thou shalt also go before me to Gilgal. And behold I will come unto thee to sacrifice burnt sacrifice and peace offerings. Tarry for me seven days till I come to thee and shew thee what thou shalt do.

9. அவன் சாமுவேலை விட்டுப் போகும்படி திரும்பினபோது, தேவன் அவனுக்கு வேறே இருதயத்தைக் கொடுத்தார்; அந்த அடையாளங்கள் எல்லாம் அன்றையதினமே நேரிட்டது.

9. And as soon as he had turned his shoulder to go from Samuel, God gave him another manner of heart, and all those tokens came to pass that same day.

10. அவர்கள் அந்த மலைக்கு வந்தபோது, இதோ, தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் கூட்டம் அவனுக்கு எதிராக வந்தது; அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய ஆவி அவன்மேல் இறங்கினதினால், அவனும் அவர்களுக்குள்ளே தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொன்னான்.

10. When they came to the hill: behold the company of prophets met him, and the spirit of God came upon him, and the prophesied among them.

11. அதற்குமுன்னே அவனை அறிந்தவர்கள் எல்லாரும் அவன் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளோடிருந்து, தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லுகிறதைக் கண்டபோது: கீசின் குமாரனுக்கு வந்தது என்ன? சவுலும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் ஒருவனோ? என்று அந்த ஜனங்கள் ஒருவரோடொருவர் சொல்லிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

11. And all that knew him before, when they saw that he prophesied among the prophets, they said each to other: what is happened unto the son of Cis? Is Saul also among the prophets?

12. அதற்கு அங்கே இருக்கிறவர்களில் ஒருவன்: இவர்களுக்குத் தகப்பன் யார் என்றான்; ஆதலால் சவுலும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் ஒருவனோ? என்பது பழமொழியாயிற்று.

12. And one of the same place answered and said: who is their father? And thereof sprang a proverb: what is Saul also among the prophets?

13. அவன் தீர்க்கதரிசனம் சொல்லி முடிந்தபின்பு, மேடையின்மேல் வந்தான்.

13. And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came to the hill.

14. அப்பொழுது சவுலுடைய சிறிய தகப்பன்: நீங்கள் எங்கே போனீர்கள் என்று அவனையும் அவன் வேலைக்காரனையும் கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவன்: நாங்கள் கழுதைகளைத் தேடப்போய், அவைகளை எங்குங்காணாதபடியினால், சாமுவேலிடத்துக்குப் போனோம் என்றான்.

14. Saul's father's brother said unto him and his lad: whither went ye? And he answered: to seek the asses, and when we saw that they were nowhere, we went to Samuel.

15. அப்பொழுது சவுலுடைய சிறிய தகப்பன்: சாமுவேல் உங்களுக்குச் சொன்னது என்ன? அதைச் சொல் என்றான்.

15. Then said Saul's uncle: tell me what Samuel said unto you?

16. சவுல் தன் சிறிய தகப்பனைப் பார்த்து: கழுதைகள் அகப்பட்டது என்று எங்களுக்குத் தீர்மானமாய்ச் சொன்னார் என்றான்; ஆனாலும் ராஜ்யபாரத்தைப்பற்றிச் சாமுவேல் சொன்னதை அவனுக்கு அறிவிக்கவில்லை.

16. And Saul answered his uncle: he told us that the asses were found. But of the kingdom whereof Samuel spake told he him not.

17. சாமுவேல் ஜனங்களை மிஸ்பாவிலே கர்த்தரிடத்திலே வரவழைத்து,

17. After that Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mazphah

18. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், நான் இஸ்ரவேலை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணி, உங்களை எகிப்தியர் கைக்கும், உங்களை இறுகப்பிடித்த எல்லா ராஜ்யத்தாரின் கைக்கும் நீங்கலாக்கிவிட்டேன்.

18. and said unto the children of Israel: thus sayeth the LORD God of Israel, I brought you out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hands of all kingdoms that oppressed you.

19. நீங்களோ உங்களுடைய எல்லாத் தீங்குகளுக்கும் நெருக்கங்களுக்கும் உங்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்த உங்கள் தேவனை இந்நாளிலே புறக்கணித்து, ஒரு ராஜாவை எங்கள்மேல் ஏற்படுத்தும் என்று அவரிடத்தில் கேட்டுக்கொண்டீர்கள்; இப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் உங்கள் வம்சங்களின்படியேயும், ஆயிரங்களான உங்கள் சேர்வைகளின்படியேயும், வந்து நில்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

19. And ye have this day cast away your God that holp you out of all your adversities and tribulations. And ye have said unto him, make a king over us. Now therefore stand before the LORD by your tribes and your thousands.

20. சாமுவேல் இஸ்ரவேலின் கோத்திரங்களையெல்லாம் சேரப்பண்ணினபின்பு பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தின்மேல் சீட்டு விழுந்தது.

20. And when Samuel had brought all the tribes of Israel the tribe of Benjamin was caught.

21. அவன் பென்யமீன் கோத்திரத்தை அதினுடைய குடும்பங்களின்படியே சேரப்பண்ணினபின்பு, மாத்திரி குடும்பத்தின்மேலும், அதிலே கீசின் குமாரனாகிய சவுலின்மேலும், சீட்டு விழுந்தது; அவனைத் தேடினபோது, அவன் அகப்படவில்லை.

21. When he had brought the tribe of Benjamin by their kindreds, the kindred of Metri was caught: and Saul the son of Cis was caught. And they sought him: but he could not be found.

22. அவன் இனி இங்கே வருவானா என்று அவர்கள் திரும்பக் கர்த்தரிடத்தில் விசாரித்தபோது: இதோ, அவன் தளவாடங்களிருக்கிற இடத்திலே ஒளித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறான் என்று கர்த்தர் சொன்னார்.

22. Then they asked the LORD further: whither the man should come thither. And the LORD answered: behold, he hath hid himself among the stuff.

23. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் ஓடி, அங்கேயிருந்து அவனை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள்; அவன் ஜனங்கள் நடுவே வந்து நின்றபோது, எல்லா ஜனங்களும் அவன் தோளுக்குக் கீழாயிருக்கத்தக்க உயரமுள்ளவனாயிருந்தான்.

23. And they ran and fetched him thence. And when he stood among the people, he was higher than any of the people from the shoulders upward.

24. அப்பொழுது சாமுவேல் எல்லா ஜனங்களையும் நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் தெரிந்து கொண்டவனைப் பாருங்கள், சமஸ்த ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளும் அவனுக்குச் சமானமானவன் இல்லை என்றான்; அப்பொழுது ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் ஆர்ப்பரித்து: ராஜா வாழ்க என்றார்கள்.

24. And Samuel said to all the people: there see ye whom the LORD hath chosen and how there is none like him among all the company. And all the people shouted and said: God send the king life.

25. சாமுவேல் ராஜாங்கத்தின் முறையை ஜனங்களுக்குத் தெரிவித்து, அதை ஒரு புஸ்தகத்தில் எழுதி, கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் வைத்து, ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் அவரவர் வீட்டுக்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

25. Then Samuel told the people the duty of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD, and so sent all the people away, every man to his house.

26. சவுலும் கிபியாவிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்குப் போனான்; இராணுவத்தில் தேவன் எவர்கள் மனதை ஏவினாரோ, அவர்களும் அவனோடேகூடப் போனார்கள்.

26. And Saul also went home to Gabaah. And there went with him an host, such as God hath touched their hearts.

27. ஆனாலும் பேலியாளின் மக்கள்: இவனா நம்மை இரட்சிக்கப்போகிறவன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனுக்குக் காணிக்கைகொண்டுவராமல் அவனை அசட்டைப்பண்ணினார்கள்; அவனோ காது கேளாதவன்போல இருந்தான்.

27. But the children of unthriftiness said: how shall he save us? and despised him and brought him not presents. And he made as though he had not heard it.
