1. கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் கில்காலிலிருந்து போகீமுக்கு வந்து: நான் உங்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணி, உங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்ட தேசத்தில் நான் உங்களைக் கொண்டுவந்து விட்டு, உங்களோடே பண்ணின என் உடன்படிக்கையை நான் ஒருக்காலும் முறித்துப்போடுவதில்லை என்றும்,

1. And an angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to the [place of] weeping, and to Bethel, and to the house of Israel, and said to them, Thus says the Lord: I brought you up out of Egypt, and I brought you into the land which I swore to your fathers; and I said, I will never break My covenant that I have made with you.

2. நீங்கள் இந்த தேசத்தின் குடிகளோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணாமல், அவர்கள் பலிபீடங்களை இடித்துவிடக்கடவீர்கள் என்றும் சொன்னேன்; ஆனாலும் என் சொல்லைக் கேளாதேபோனீர்கள்; ஏன் இப்படிச் செய்தீர்கள்?

2. And you shall make no covenant with them that dwell in this land, neither shall you worship their gods; but you shall destroy their graven images, you shall pull down their altars: but you did not listen to My voice, for you did these things.

3. ஆகையால் நான் அவர்களை உங்கள் முகத்திற்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துவதில்லை என்றேன்; அவர்கள் உங்களை நெருக்குவார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய தேவர்கள் உங்களுக்குக் கண்ணியாவார்கள் என்றார்.

3. And I said, I will not drive them out from before you, but they shall be for a distress to you, and their gods shall be to you for an offense.

4. கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் இந்த வார்த்தைகளை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எல்லாரோடும் சொல்லுகையில், ஜனங்கள் உரத்த சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள்.

4. And it came to pass when the angel of the Lord spoke these words to all the children of Israel, that the people lifted up their voice, and wept.

5. அவ்விடத்திற்குப் போகீம் என்று பேரிட்டு, அங்கே கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிட்டார்கள்.

5. And they named the name of that place Weepings; and they sacrificed there to the Lord.

6. யோசுவா இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய ஜனங்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டபோது, அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ள அவரவர் தங்கள்தங்கள் சுதந்தர வீதத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.

6. And Joshua dismissed the people, and they went every man to his inheritance, to inherit the land.

7. யோசுவாவின் சகல நாட்களிலும் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காகச் செய்த அவருடைய பெரிய கிரியைகளையெல்லாம் கண்டவர்களும், யோசுவாவுக்குப் பின்பு உயிரோடிருந்தவர்களுமாகிய மூப்பரின் சகல நாட்களிலும் ஜனங்கள் கர்த்தரைச் சேவித்தார்கள்.

7. And the people served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that lived many days with Joshua, as many as knew all the great work of the Lord, what things He had done in Israel.

8. நூனின் குமாரனாகிய யோசுவா என்னும் கர்த்தரின் ஊழியக்காரன் நூற்றுப்பத்து வயதுள்ளவனாய் மரணமடைந்தான்.

8. And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, [being] one hundred and ten years old.

9. அவனை எப்பிராயீமின் மலைத்தேசத்திலுள்ள காயாஸ் மலைக்கு வடக்கேயிருக்கிற அவனுடைய சுதந்தரத்தின் எல்லையாகிய திம்னாத்ஏரேசிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

9. And they buried him in the border of his inheritance, in Timnath Heres, in Mount Ephraim, on the north of the mountain of Gaash.

10. அக்காலத்தில் இருந்த அந்தச் சந்ததியார் எல்லாரும் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுடன் சேர்க்கப்பட்டபின்பு, கர்த்தரையும், அவர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்காகச் செய்த கிரியையையும் அறியாத வேறொரு சந்ததி அவர்களுக்குப்பின் எழும்பிற்று.

10. And all that generation were laid to their fathers: and another generation rose up after them, who knew not the Lord, nor yet the work which He wrought in Israel.

11. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்து, பாகால்களைச் சேவித்து,

11. And the children of Israel did evil before the Lord, and served Baalam.

12. தங்கள் பிதாக்களை எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின அவர்களுடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விட்டு, தங்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற ஜனங்களுடைய தேவர்களாகிய அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிப்போய், அவர்களைப் பணிந்துகொண்டு, கர்த்தருக்குக் கோபமூட்டினார்கள்.

12. And they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and walked after other gods, of the gods of the nations round about them; and they worshipped them.

13. அவர்கள் கர்த்தரை விட்டு, பாகாலையும் அஸ்தரோத்தையும் சேவித்தார்கள்.

13. And they provoked the Lord, and forsook Him, and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

14. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின் மேல் கோபமூண்டவராகி, அவர்கள் அப்புறம் தங்கள் சத்துருக்களுக்கு முன்பாக நிற்கக்கூடாதபடி கொள்ளையிடுகிற கொள்ளைக்காரர் கையில் அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து, அவர்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற அவர்கள் பகைஞரின் கையிலே விற்றுப்போட்டார்.

14. And the Lord was very angry with Israel; and He gave them into the hands of the plunderers, and they plundered them; and He sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, and they could not any longer resist their enemies,

15. கர்த்தர் சொல்லியபடியும், கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டிருந்தபடியும், அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போகிற இடமெல்லாம் கர்த்தருடைய கை தீமைக்கென்றே அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாயிருந்தது; மிகவும் நெருக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

15. among whomsoever they went; and the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord spoke, and as the Lord swore to them; and He greatly afflicted them.

16. கர்த்தர் நியாயாதிபதிகளை எழும்பப்பண்ணினார்; அவர்கள் கொள்ளையிடுகிறவர்களின் கைக்கு அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்தார்கள்.

16. And the Lord raised up judges, and the Lord saved them out of the hands of those that spoiled them: and yet they would not listen to the judges,

17. அவர்கள் தங்கள் நியாயாதிபதிகளின் சொல்லைக் கேளாமல், அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றிச் சோரம்போய், அவைகளைப் பணிந்துகொண்டார்கள்; தங்கள் பிதாக்கள் கர்த்தரின் கற்பனைகளுக்குக் கீழ்ப்படிந்து நடந்த வழியை அவர்கள் சீக்கிரமாய் விட்டு விலகி, அவர்கள் செய்தபடி செய்யாமற்போனார்கள்.

17. for they went whoring after other gods, and worshipped them; and they turned quickly out of the way in which their fathers walked to hearken to the words of the Lord; they did not do so.

18. கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு நியாயாதிபதிகளை எழும்பப்பண்ணுகிறபோது, கர்த்தர் நியாயாதிபதியோடேகூட இருந்து அந்த நியாயாதிபதியின் நாட்களிலெல்லாம் அவர்கள் சத்துருக்களின் கைக்கு அவர்களை நீங்கலாக்கி இரட்சித்துவருவார்; அவர்கள் தங்களை இறுகப்பிடித்து ஒடுக்குகிறவர்களினிமித்தம் தவிக்கிறதினாலே, கர்த்தர் மனஸ்தாபப்படுவார்.

18. And because the Lord raised them up judges, so the Lord was with the judge, and saved them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved at their groaning by reason of them that besieged them and afflicted them.

19. நியாயாதிபதி மரணமடைந்த உடனே, அவர்கள் திரும்பி, அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றவும் சேவிக்கவும் பணிந்துகொள்ளவும், தங்கள் பிதாக்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் கேடாய் நடந்து, தங்கள் கிர்த்தியங்களையும் தங்கள் முரட்டாட்டமான வழியையும் விடாதிருப்பார்கள்.

19. And it came to pass when the judge died, that they went back, and again corrupted [themselves] worse than their fathers to go after other gods, to serve them and to worship them: they did not abandon their own doings, nor their stubborn ways.

20. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் கோபமூண்டவராகி: இந்த ஜனங்கள் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு நான் கற்பித்த என் உடன்படிக்கையை மீறி என் சொல்லைக் கேளாதேபோனபடியால்,

20. And the Lord was very angry with Israel, and said, Because this nation has forsaken My covenant which I commanded their fathers, and has not listened to My voice,

21. யோசுவா மரித்துப் பின்வைத்துப்போன ஜாதிகளில் ஒருவரையும், நான் இனி அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடாதிருப்பேன்.

21. therefore I will no longer drive out a man of the nations before their face, which Joshua the son of Nun left in the land. And [the Lord] left [them],

22. அவர்கள் பிதாக்கள் கர்த்தரின் வழியைக் கவனித்ததுபோல, அவர்கள் அதிலே நடக்கும்படிக்கு, அதைக் கவனிப்பார்களோ இல்லையோ என்று, அவர்களைக்கொண்டு இஸ்ரவேலைச் சோதிப்பதற்காக அப்படிச் செய்வேன் என்றார்.

22. to test Israel with them, whether they would keep the way of the Lord, to walk in it, as their fathers kept it, or not.

23. அதற்காகக் கர்த்தர் அந்த ஜாதிகளை யோசுவாவின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடாமலும், அவைகளைச் சீக்கிரமாய்த் துரத்திவிடாமலும் விட்டுவைத்தார்.

23. So the Lord will leave these nations, so as not to cast them out suddenly; nor did He deliver them into the hand of Joshua.
