1. One day Samson went to the Philistine city of Gaza, where he met a prostitute and went to bed with her.

2. அப்பொழுது: சிம்சோன் இங்கே வந்திருக்கிறான் என்று காசா ஊராருக்குச் சொல்லப்பட்டது. அவர்கள்: காலையில் வெளிச்சமாகிறபோது அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடுவோம் என்று சொல்லி, அவனை வளைந்துகொண்டு இராமுழுவதும் அவனுக்காகப் பட்டணவாசலில் பதிவிருந்து இராமுழுவதும் பேசாதிருந்தார்கள்.

2. The people of Gaza found out that Samson was there, so they surrounded the place and waited for him all night long at the city gate. They were quiet all night, thinking to themselves, 'We'll wait until daybreak, and then we'll kill him.'

3. But Samson stayed in bed only until midnight. Then he got up and took hold of the city gate and pulled it up---doors, posts, lock, and all. He put them on his shoulders and carried them far off to the top of the hill overlooking Hebron.

4. After this, Samson fell in love with a woman named Delilah, who lived in Sorek Valley.

5. அவளிடத்திற்குப் பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகள் போய்: நீ அவனை நயம்பண்ணி, அவனுடைய மகா பலம் எதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்றும், நாங்கள் அவனைக் கட்டிச் சிறுமைப்படுத்துகிறதற்கு எதினாலே அவனை மேற்கொள்ளலாம் என்றும் அறிந்துகொள்; அப்பொழுது நாங்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரும் ஆயிரத்துநூறு வெள்ளிக்காசு உனக்குக் கொடுப்போம் என்றார்கள்.

5. The five Philistine kings went to her and said, 'Trick Samson into telling you why he is so strong and how we can overpower him, tie him up, and make him helpless. Each one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver.'

6. அப்படியே தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனைப் பார்த்து: உன் மகா பலம் எதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது. உன்னைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்த, உன்னை எதினாலே கட்டலாம் என்று நீ எனக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

6. So Delilah said to Samson, 'Please tell me what makes you so strong. If someone wanted to tie you up and make you helpless, how could he do it?'

7. அதற்குச் சிம்சோன்: உலராத பச்சையான ஏழு அகணிநார்க் கயிறுகளாலே என்னைக் கட்டினால், நான் பலட்சயமாகி, மற்ற மனுஷனைப்போல் ஆவேன் என்றான்.

7. Samson answered, 'If they tie me up with seven new bowstrings that are not dried out, I'll be as weak as anybody else.'

8. அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகள் உலராத பச்சையான ஏழு அகணிநார்க் கயிறுகளை அவளிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அவைகளால் அவள் அவனைக் கட்டினாள்.

8. So the Philistine kings brought Delilah seven new bowstrings that were not dried out, and she tied Samson up.

9. பதிவிருக்கிறவர்கள் அறைவீட்டிலே காத்திருக்கும்போது, அவள்: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்; அப்பொழுது, சணல்நூலானது நெருப்புப்பட்டவுடனே இற்றுப்போகிறதுபோல, அவன் அந்தக் கயிறுகளை அறுத்துப்போட்டான்; அவன் பலம் இன்னதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்று அறியப்படவில்லை.

9. She had some men waiting in another room, so she shouted, 'Samson! The Philistines are coming!' But he snapped the bowstrings just as thread breaks when fire touches it. So they still did not know the secret of his strength.

10. அப்பொழுது தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, என்னைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி, எனக்குப் பொய்சொன்னாய்; இப்போதும் உன்னை எதினாலே கட்டலாம் என்று எனக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றாள்.

10. Delilah told Samson, 'Look, you've been making a fool of me and not telling me the truth. Please tell me how someone could tie you up.'

11. அதற்கு அவன்: இதுவரைக்கும் ஒரு வேலைக்கும் வழங்காதிருக்கிற புதுக்கயிறுகளால் என்னை இறுகக் கட்டினால், நான் பலட்சயமாகி, மற்ற மனுஷனைப்போல் ஆவேன் என்றான்.

11. He told her, 'If they tie me with new ropes that have never been used, I'll be as weak as anybody else.'

12. அப்பொழுது தெலீலாள், புதுக்கயிறுகளை வாங்கி, அவைகளால் அவனைக்கட்டி: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்: பதிவிருக்கிறவர்கள் அறைவீட்டில் இருந்தார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவன் தன் புயங்களில் இருந்த கயிறுகளை ஒரு நூலைப்போல அறுத்துப்போட்டான்.

12. So Delilah got some new ropes and tied him up. Then she shouted, 'Samson! The Philistines are coming!' The men were waiting in another room. But he snapped the ropes off his arms like thread.

13. பின்பு தெலீலாள் சிம்சோனைப் பார்த்து: இதுவரைக்கும் என்னைப் பரியாசம்பண்ணி, எனக்குப் பொய்சொன்னாய்; உன்னை எதினாலே கட்டலாம் என்று எனக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும் என்றாள்; அதற்கு அவன்: நீ என் தலைமயிரின் ஏழுஜடைகளை நெசவுநூல் பாவோடே பின்னிவிட்டால் ஆகும் என்றான்.

13. Delilah said to Samson, 'You're still making a fool of me and not telling me the truth. Tell me how someone could tie you up.' He told her, 'If you weave my seven locks of hair into a loom, and make it tight with a peg, I'll be as weak as anybody else.'

14. அப்படியே அவள் செய்து, அவைகளை ஆணியடித்து மாட்டி: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்; அவன் நித்திரைவிட்டெழும்பி, நெசவு ஆணியையும் நூல்பாவையும் கூடப் பிடுங்கிக்கொண்டு போனான்.

14. Delilah then lulled him to sleep, took his seven locks of hair, and wove them into the loom. She made it tight with a peg and shouted, 'Samson! The Philistines are coming!' But he woke up and pulled his hair loose from the loom.

15. அப்பொழுது அவள் அவனைப் பார்த்து: உன் இருதயம் என்னோடு இராதிருக்க, உன்னைச் சிநேகிக்கிறேன் என்று நீ எப்படிச் சொல்லுகிறாய்? நீ இந்த மூன்று விசையும் என்னைப் பரியாசம் பண்ணினாய் அல்லவா, உன்னுடைய மகாபலம் எதினாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது என்று எனக்குச் சொல்லாமற்போனாயே என்று சொல்லி,

15. So she said to him, 'How can you say you love me, when you don't mean it? You've made a fool of me three times, and you still haven't told me what makes you so strong.'

16. இப்படி அவனைத் தினம்தினம் தன் வார்த்தைகளினாலே நெருக்கி அலட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதினால், சாகத்தக்கதாய் அவன் ஆத்துமா விசனப்பட்டு,

16. She kept on asking him, day after day. He got so sick and tired of her bothering him about it

17. தன் இருதயத்தையெல்லாம் அவளுக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தி: சவரகன் கத்தி என் தலையின்மேல் படவில்லை; நான் என் தாயின் கர்ப்பத்தில் பிறந்ததுமுதல் தேவனுக்கென்று நசரேயனானவன்; என் தலைசிரைக்கப்பட்டால், என் பலம் என்னை விட்டுப்போகும்; அதினாலே நான் பலட்சயமாகி, மற்ற எல்லா மனுஷரைப்போலும் ஆவேன் என்று அவளிடத்தில் சொன்னான்.

17. that he finally told her the truth. 'My hair has never been cut,' he said. 'I have been dedicated to God as a nazirite from the time I was born. If my hair were cut, I would lose my strength and be as weak as anybody else.'

18. அவன் தன் இருதயத்தையெல்லாம் தனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினதைத் தெலீலாள் கண்டபோது, அவள் பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகளுக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி: இந்த ஒருவிசை வாருங்கள், அவன் தன் இருதயத்தையெல்லாம் எனக்கு வெளிப்படுத்தினான் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னாள்; அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தரின் அதிபதிகள் வெள்ளிக்காசுகளைத் தங்கள் கையில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு அவளிடத்துக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

18. When Delilah realized that he had told her the truth, she sent a message to the Philistine kings and said, 'Come back one more time. He has told me the truth.' Then they came and brought the money with them.

19. அவள் அவனைத் தன் மடியிலே நித்திரைசெய்யப்பண்ணி, ஒருவனை அழைத்து, அவன் தலைமயிரின் ஏழு ஜடைகளையும் சிரைப்பித்து, அவனைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தத் தொடங்கினாள்; அவன் பலம் அவனைவிட்டு நீங்கிற்று.

19. Delilah lulled Samson to sleep in her lap and then called a man, who cut off Samson's seven locks of hair. Then she began to torment him, for he had lost his strength.

20. அப்பொழுது அவள்: சிம்சோனே, பெலிஸ்தர் உன்மேல் வந்துவிட்டார்கள் என்றாள்; அவன் நித்திரைவிட்டு விழித்து, கர்த்தர் தன்னைவிட்டு விலகினதை அறியாமல், எப்போதும்போல உதறிப்போட்டு வெளியே போவேன் என்றான்.

20. Then she shouted, 'Samson! The Philistines are coming!' He woke up and thought, 'I'll get loose and go free, as always.' He did not know that the LORD had left him.

21. பெலிஸ்தர் அவனைப் பிடித்து, அவன் கண்களைப் பிடுங்கி, அவனைக் காசாவுக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், அவனுக்கு இரண்டு வெண்கல விலங்குபோட்டுச் சிறைச்சாலையிலே மாவரைத்துக்கொண்டிருக்க வைத்தார்கள்.

21. The Philistines captured him and put his eyes out. They took him to Gaza, chained him with bronze chains, and put him to work grinding at the mill in the prison.

22. அவன் தலைமயிர் சிரைக்கப்பட்டபின்பு, திரும்பவும் முளைக்கத் தொடங்கிற்று.

22. But his hair started growing back.

23. பெலிஸ்தரின் பிரபுக்கள்: நம்முடைய பகைஞனாகிய சிம்சோனை நம்முடைய தேவன் நம்முடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்று சொல்லி, தங்கள் தேவனாகிய தாகோனுக்கு ஒரு பெரிய பலிசெலுத்தவும், சந்தோஷம் கொண்டாடவும் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.

23. The Philistine kings met together to celebrate and offer a great sacrifice to their god Dagon. They sang, 'Our god has given us victory over our enemy Samson!'

24. ஜனங்கள் அவனைக் கண்டவுடனே: நம்முடைய தேசத்தைப் பாழாக்கி, நம்மில் அநேகரைக் கொன்றுபோட்ட நம்முடைய பகைஞனை நம்முடைய தேவன் நமது கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார் என்று சொல்லி, தங்கள் தேவனைப் புகழ்ந்தார்கள்.

24. They were enjoying themselves, and so they said, 'Call Samson, and let's make him entertain us!' When they brought Samson out of the prison, they made him entertain them and made him stand between the columns. When the people saw him, they sang praise to their god: 'Our god has given us victory over our enemy, who devastated our land and killed so many of us!'

25. இப்படி அவர்கள் மனமகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கும்போது: நமக்கு முன்பாக வேடிக்கைகாட்டும்படிக்கு, சிம்சோனைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது சிம்சோனைச் சிறைச்சாலையிலிருந்து கூட்டிக்கொண்டு வந்தார்கள், அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வேடிக்கை காட்டினான்; அவனைத் தூண்களுக்கு நடுவே நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

26. சிம்சோன் தனக்குக் கைலாகு கொடுத்து நடத்துகிற பிள்ளையாண்டானோடே, வீட்டைத் தாங்குகிற தூண்களிலே நான் சாய்ந்துகொண்டிருக்கும்படி அவைகளை நான் தடவிப்பார்க்கட்டும் என்றான்.

26. Samson said to the boy who was leading him by the hand, 'Let me touch the columns that hold up the building. I want to lean on them.'

27. அந்த வீடு புருஷராலும் ஸ்திரீகளாலும் நிறைந்திருந்தது; அங்கே பெலிஸ்தரின் சகல பிரபுக்களும், வீட்டின்மேல் புருஷரும் ஸ்திரீகளுமாக ஏறக்குறைய மூவாயிரம்பேர், சிம்சோன் வேடிக்கை காட்டுகிறதைப் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

27. The building was crowded with men and women. All five Philistine kings were there, and there were about three thousand men and women on the roof, watching Samson entertain them.

28. அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு: கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, நான் என் இரண்டு கண்களுக்காக ஒரே தீர்வையாய்ப் பெலிஸ்தர் கையிலே பழிவாங்கும்படிக்கு, இந்த ஒருவிசை மாத்திரம் என்னை நினைத்தருளும், தேவனே, பலப்படுத்தும் என்று சொல்லி,
எபிரேயர் 11:32

28. Then Samson prayed, 'Sovereign LORD, please remember me; please, God, give me my strength just this one time more, so that with this one blow I can get even with the Philistines for putting out my two eyes.'

29. சிம்சோன் அந்த வீட்டைத் தாங்கி நிற்கிற இரண்டு நடுத்தூண்களில், ஒன்றைத் தன் வலதுகையினாலும், மற்றொன்றைத் தன் இடதுகையினாலும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு,

29. So Samson took hold of the two middle columns holding up the building. Putting one hand on each column, he pushed against them

30. என் ஜீவன் பெலிஸ்தரோடேகூட மடியக்கடவது என்று சொல்லி, பலமாய்ச் சாய்க்க, அந்த வீடு அதில் இருந்த பிரபுக்கள்மேலும் எல்லா ஜனங்கள்மேலும் விழுந்தது; இவ்விதமாய் அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கையில் அவனால் கொல்லப்பட்டவர்களைப்பார்க்கிலும், அவன் சாகும்போது அவனால் கொல்லப்பட்டவர்கள் அதிகமாயிருந்தார்கள்.

30. and shouted, 'Let me die with the Philistines!' He pushed with all his might, and the building fell down on the five kings and everyone else. Samson killed more people at his death than he had killed during his life.

31. பின்பு அவன் சகோதரரும், அவன் தகப்பன் வீட்டாரனைவரும் போய், அவனை எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவந்து, சோராவுக்கும் எஸ்தாவோலுக்கும் நடுவே அவன் தகப்பனாகிய மனோவாவின் கல்லறையில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள். அவன் இஸ்ரவேலை இருபது வருஷம் நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்.

31. His brothers and the rest of his family came down to get his body. They took him back and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the tomb of his father Manoah. He had been Israel's leader for twenty years.
