1. கீலேயாத்தியனான யெப்தா பலத்த பராக்கிரமசாலியாயிருந்தான்; அவன் பரஸ்திரீயின் குமாரன்; கிலெயாத் அவனைப் பெற்றான்.

1. Iephthae a Gileadite was a valeaut man of armes, but an harlottes childe. Gilead begat Iephthae.

2. கிலெயாத்தின் மனைவியும் அவனுக்குக் குமாரர்களைப் பெற்றாள்; அவன் மனைவி பெற்ற குமாரர் பெரியவர்களானபின்பு, அவர்கள் யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: உனக்கு எங்கள் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலே சுதந்தரம் இல்லை; நீ அந்நிய ஸ்திரீயின் மகன் என்று சொல்லி அவனைத் துரத்தினார்கள்.

2. But whan the wyfe had borne children vnto Gilead, and the same wyues childre were waxe greate, they thrust out Iephtae, and sayde vnto him: Thou shalt not be heire in oure fathers house, for thou art another womas sonne.

3. அப்பொழுது யெப்தா: தன் சகோதரரை விட்டு ஓடிப்போய், தோப் தேசத்திலே குடியிருந்தான்; வீணரான மனுஷர் யெப்தாவோடே கூடிக்கொண்டு, அவனோடேகூட யுத்தத்திற்குப் போவார்கள்.

3. The fled he from his brethre, and dwelt in the londe of Tob. And there resorted vnto him vagabudes, and wete out with him.

4. சிலநாளைக்குப்பின்பு, அம்மோன் புத்திரர் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

4. And after a certayne tyme foughte the children of Ammon with Israel.

5. அவர்கள் இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணும்போது கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பர் யெப்தாவைத் தோப் தேசத்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவரப்போய்,

5. Now wha the childre of Ammon foughte thus with Israel, the Elders wente from Gilead to fetch Iephthae out of the londe of Tob,

6. யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: நீ வந்து, நாங்கள் அம்மோன் புத்திரரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ண எங்கள் சேனாபதியாயிருக்க வேண்டும் என்றார்கள்.

6. and sayde vnto him: Come, and be oure captayne, and fight agaynst the children of Ammon.

7. அதற்கு யெப்தா கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பரைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் அல்லவா என்னைப் பகைத்து, என் தகப்பன் வீட்டிலிருந்து என்னைத் துரத்தினவர்கள்? இப்பொழுது உங்களுக்கு ஆபத்து நேரிட்டிருக்கிற சமயத்தில் நீங்கள் என்னிடத்தில் ஏன் வருகிறீர்கள் என்றான்.

7. But Iephthae sayde vnto the Eldes of Gilead: Are not ye they that hate me and haue thrust me out of my fathers house, and now come ye to me whan ye are in trouble?

8. அதற்குக் கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பர் யெப்தாவை நோக்கி: நீ எங்களுடனேகூட வந்து, அம்மோன் புத்திரரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, கீலேயாத்தின் குடிகளாகிய எங்கள் அனைவர்மேலும் தலைவனாயிருக்க வேண்டும்; இதற்காக இப்பொழுது உன்னிடத்தில் வந்தோம் என்றார்கள்.

8. The Elders of Gilead sayde: Therfore come we now againe vnto the, that thou mayest go with vs, and fighte agaynst the children of Ammon, and be oure captayne ouer all that dwell in Gilead.

9. அதற்கு யெப்தா: அம்மோன் புத்திரரோடே யுத்தம்பண்ண, நீங்கள் என்னைத் திரும்ப அழைத்துப்போனபின்பு, கர்த்தர் அவர்களை என் முன்னிலையாய் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தால், என்னை உங்களுக்குத் தலைவனாய் வைப்பீர்களா என்று கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பரைக் கேட்டான்.

9. Iephthae sayde vnto the Elders of Gilead: Yf ye fetch me agayne to fighte agaynst the childre of Ammon, and the LORDE delyuer them before me shal I then be youre heade?

10. கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பர் யெப்தாவைப் பார்த்து: நாங்கள் உன் வார்த்தையின்படியே செய்யாவிட்டால், கர்த்தர் நமக்கு நடுநின்று கேட்பாராக என்றார்கள்.

10. The Elders of Gilead saide vnto Iephthae: The LORDE be hearer betwene vs, yf we do not as thou hast sayde.

11. அப்பொழுது யெப்தா கீலேயாத்தின் மூப்பரோடே கூடப்போனான்; ஜனங்கள் அவனைத் தங்கள்மேல் தலைவனும் சேனாபதியுமாக வைத்தார்கள். யெப்தா தன் காரியங்களையெல்லாம் மிஸ்பாவிலே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியிலே சொன்னான்.

11. So Iephthae wete with the Elders of Gilead. And the people made him heade and duke ouer them. And Iephthae spake all this before the LORDE at Mispa.

12. பின்பு யெப்தா அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நீ என் தேசத்தில் எனக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தம்பண்ண வருகிறதற்கு, எனக்கும் உனக்கும் என்ன வழக்கு இருக்கிறது என்று கேட்கச் சொன்னான்.

12. Then sente Iephthae messaungers to the kynge of the children of Ammon, and caused to saye vnto him: What hast thou to do with me, that thou comest vnto me to fight agaynst my londe?

13. அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜா யெப்தாவின் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வருகிறபோது, அர்னோன் துவக்கி யாபோக்மட்டும், யோர்தான்மட்டும் இருக்கிற என் தேசத்தைக் கட்டிக்கொண்டார்களே; இப்பொழுது அதை எனக்குச் சமாதானமாய்த் திரும்பக் கொடுத்துவிடவேண்டும் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

13. The kynge of the childre of Ammo answered Iephthaes messaungers Because that Israel toke awaye my londe (whan they departed out of Egipte) from Arnon vnto Iabock, and vnto Iordane: geue it me agayne now therfore peaceably.

14. யெப்தா மறுபடியும் அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி, அவனுக்குச் சொல்லச் சொன்னதாவது:

14. But Iephthae sent yet mo messaungers to ye kynge of the children of Ammon,

15. யெப்தா சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: இஸ்ரவேலர் மோவாபியரின் தேசத்தையாகிலும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் தேசத்தையாகிலும் கட்டிக்கொண்டதில்லையே.

15. which sayde vnto him: Thus sayeth Iephthae: Israel hath taken no londe, nether from the Moabites ner from the children of Ammon:

16. இஸ்ரவேலர் எகிப்திலிருந்து வருகிறபோது, வனாந்தரத்தில் சிவந்த சமுத்திரமட்டும் நடந்து, பின்பு காதேசுக்கு வந்து,

16. for when they departed out of Egipte, Israel walked thorow the wyldernes vnto the reed see, and came to Cades,

17. இஸ்ரவேலர் ஏதோமின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நாங்கள் உன் தேசத்துவழியாய்க் கடந்து போகட்டும் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னார்கள்; அதற்கு ஏதோமின் ராஜா செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை; அப்படியே மோவாபின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கும் அனுப்பினார்கள்; அவனும் சம்மதிக்கவில்லை. ஆதலால் இஸ்ரவேலர் காதேசிலே தரித்திருந்து,

17. and sent messaungers to the kynge of the Edomites, and sayde: Let me go thorow thy londe. But the kynge of ye Edomites wolde not heare the. They sent lykewyse vnto the kynge of the Moabites, which wolde not also. Thus Israel abode in Cades,

18. பின்பு வனாந்தரவழியாய் நடந்து ஏதோம் தேசத்தையும் மோவாப் தேசத்தையும் சுற்றிப்போய், மோவாபின் தேசத்திற்குக் கிழக்கேவந்து, மோவாபின் எல்லைக்குள் பிரவேசியாமல், மோவாபின் எல்லையான அர்னோன் நதிக்கு அப்பாலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்.

18. and compased the lode of the Edomites and Moabites, and came on the eastsyde of the londe of the Moabites and pitched beyonde Arnon, and came not within the coaste of the Moabites. For Arnon is the border of the Moabites.

19. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலர் எஸ்போனில் ஆளுகிற சீகோன் என்னும் எமோரியரின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்கு ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி: நாங்கள் உன் தேசத்து வழியாய் எங்கள் ஸ்தானத்திற்குக் கடந்துபோக இடங்கொடு என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னார்கள்.

19. And Israel sent messaungers vnto Sihon the kynge of the Amorites at Hesbon, and caused to saye vnto him: Let me go thorow thy londe vnto my place.

20. சீகோன் இஸ்ரவேலரை நம்பாததினால், தன் எல்லையைக் கடந்துபோகிறதற்கு இடங்கொடாமல் தன் ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் கூட்டி, யாகாசிலே பாளயமிறங்கி, இஸ்ரவேலரோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணினான்.

20. Neuertheles Sihon wolde not trust Israel to go thorow the border of his londe, but gathered all his people, and pitched at Iahza, and foughte with Israel.

21. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சீகோனையும் அவனுடைய எல்லா ஜனங்களையும் இஸ்ரவேலரின் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்களை முறிய அடித்தார்கள்; அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலர் அந்த தேசத்திலே குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் சீமையையெல்லாம் பிடித்து, அர்னோன் துவக்கி,

21. Howbeit the LORDE God of Israel gaue Sihon with all his people in to Israels hade, so that they slewe them. Thus Israel conquered all the londe of the Amorites that dwelt in ye same countre.

22. யாபோக்மட்டும், வனாந்தரம் துவக்கி யோர்தான்மட்டும் இருக்கிற எமோரியரின் எல்லையையெல்லாம் சுதந்தரமாய்க் கட்டிக்கொண்டார்கள்.

22. And they toke possessio of all the borders of the Amorites, from Arnon vnto Iabok, & from ye wyldernesse vnto Iordane.

23. இப்படி இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எமோரியரைத் தம்முடைய ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்தியிருக்க, நீர் அந்த தேசத்தைக் கட்டிக்கொள்ளத்தகுமா?

23. So ye LORDE God of Israel droue awaye the Amorites before his people of Israel, and wilt thou coquere them?

24. உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய காமோஸ் உமக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துகிறவர்களின் தேசத்தை நீர் கட்டிக்கொள்ளமாட்டீரோ? அப்படியே எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துகிறவர்களின் தேசத்தையெல்லாம் நாங்களும் கட்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறோம்.

24. Is it not so, yf thy God Camos gaue the oughte to possesse, woldest thou not possesse it? What so euer the LORDE oure God hath geue vs before vs to possesse, that shal we conquere and take in possession.

25. மேலும் சிப்போரின் குமாரனாகிய பாலாக் என்னும் மோவாபின் ராஜாவைப்பார்க்கிலும் உமக்கு அதிக நியாயம் உண்டோ? அவன் இஸ்ரவேலோடே எப்போதாகிலும் வழக்காடினானா? எப்போதாகிலும் அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தம்பண்ணினானா?

25. Hast thou better right (thinkest thou) the Balac the sonne of Ziphor, the kynge of ye Moabites? Dyd he euer go to lawe or fighte agaynst Israel?

26. இஸ்ரவேலர் எஸ்போனிலும் அதின் கிராமங்களிலும், ஆரோவேரிலும் அதின் கிராமங்களிலும், அர்னோன் நதியருகான எல்லா ஊர்களிலும், முந்நூறு வருஷம் குடியிருக்கையில், இவ்வளவு காலமாய் நீங்கள் அதைத் திருப்பிக்கொள்ளாதே போனதென்ன?

26. Though Israel haue dwelt now vpo a thre hudreth yeare in Hesbon, and in the vyllages therof, in Aroer and in the vyllages therof, and in all the cities that lye by Arnon. Why dyd not ye rescue it at the same tyme?

27. நான் உமக்கு விரோதமாய்க் குற்றம் செய்யவில்லை; நீர் எனக்கு விரோதமாய் யுத்தம்பண்ணுகிறதினால் நீர்தான் எனக்கு அநியாயம் செய்கிறீர்; நியாயாதிபதியாகிய கர்த்தர் இன்று இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கும் அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கும் நடுநின்று நியாயம் தீர்க்கக்கடவர் என்று சொல்லி அனுப்பினான்.

27. I haue not offended the, & thou doest me euell to fighte agaynst me? The LORDE geue sentence this daie betwene Israel and the children of Ammon.

28. ஆனாலும் அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜா தனக்கு யெப்தா சொல்லியனுப்பின வார்த்தைகளுக்குச் செவிகொடாதே போனான்.

28. Neuertheles the kynge of the children of Ammon wolde not heare ye wordes of Iephthae, which he sent vnto him.

29. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி யெப்தாவின்மேல் இறங்கினார்; அவன் கீலேயாத்தையும் மனாசே நாட்டையும் கடந்துபோய், கீலேயாத்திலிருக்கிற மிஸ்பாவுக்கு வந்து, அங்கேயிருந்து அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கு விரோதமாகப் போனான்.

29. Then came ye sprete of the LORDE vpon Iephthae, and he wente thorow Gilead and Manasse, and thorow Mispa which lieth in Gilead, and fro Mispa that lieth in Gilead, vnto ye children of Ammon.

30. அப்பொழுது யெப்தா கர்த்தருக்கு ஒரு பொருத்தனையைப்பண்ணி: தேவரீர் அம்மோன் புத்திரரை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கவே ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தால்,

30. And Iephthae vowed a vowe vnto the LORDE, and sayde: Yf thou wilt delyuer the childre of Ammon in to my hande,

31. நான் அம்மோன் புத்திரரிடத்திலிருந்து சமாதானத்தோடே திரும்பி வரும்போது, என் வீட்டு வாசற்படியிலிருந்து எனக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வருவது எதுவோ அது கர்த்தருக்கு உரியதாகும், அதைச் சர்வாங்கதகனபலியாகச் செலுத்துவேன் என்றான்.

31. what so euer commeth (first) out at the dore of my house in my waye, whan I returne agayne peaceably from the childre of Ammon, that same shalbe the LORDES, and I wyl offre it for a burtnofferynge.

32. யெப்தா அம்மோன் புத்திரரின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ண, அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனான்; கர்த்தர் அவர்களை அவன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.
எபிரேயர் 11:32

32. So Iephthae wente vpon the children of Ammon, to fighte against them. And ye LORDE gaue them in to his hande,

33. அவன் அவர்களை ஆரோவேர் துவக்கி மின்னித்திற்குப் போகுமட்டும், திராட்சத்தோட்டத்து நிலங்கள்வரைக்கும், மகா சங்காரமாய் முறிய அடித்து, இருபது பட்டணங்களைப் பிடித்தான்; இப்படி அம்மோன் புத்திரர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகத் தாழ்த்தப்பட்டார்கள்.

33. and he smote the from Aroer tyll thou comest vnto Minnith, euen twentye cities, and vnto the playne of ye vynyardes a very greate slaughter, and thus were the children of Ammon subdued before the children of Israel.

34. யெப்தா மிஸ்பாவிலிருக்கிற தன் வீட்டுக்கு வருகிறபோது, இதோ, அவன் குமாரத்தி தம்புரு வாசித்து நடனஞ்செய்து, அவனுக்கு எதிர்கொண்டு வந்தாள்; அவள் அவனுக்கு ஒரே பிள்ளையானவள்; அவளையல்லாமல் அவனுக்குக் குமாரனும் இல்லை குமாரத்தியும் இல்லை.

34. Now whan Iephthae came to Mispa vnto his house, beholde, his doughter wente out to mete him with tabrettes and daunces: and she was his onely childe, & he had els nether sonne ner doughter.

35. அவன் அவளைக் கண்டவுடனே தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: ஐயோ! என் மகளே, என்னை மிகவும் மனமடியவும் கலங்கவும் பண்ணுகிறாய்; நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி என் வாயைத் திறந்து சொல்லிவிட்டேன்; அதை நான் மாற்றக்கூடாது என்றான்.

35. And whan he sawe her, he rente his clothes, & sayde: Alas my doughter, thou makest my hert soroufull, and discomfortest me: for I haue opened my mouth vnto the LORDE, and can not call it agayne.

36. அப்பொழுது அவள்: என் தகப்பனே, நீர் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி உம்முடைய வாயைத் திறந்து பேசினீரல்லவோ? அம்மோன் புத்திரராகிய உம்முடைய சத்துருக்களுக்கு நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டும் ஜெயத்தைக் கர்த்தர் உமக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியினால், உம்முடைய வாயிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபடியே எனக்குச் செய்யும் என்றாள்.

36. She sayde: My father, yf thou hast opened thy mouth vnto the LORDE, then do vnto me as it is proceaded out of yi mouth, acordinge as the LORDE hath aueged the of thyne enemies the children of Ammon.

37. பின்னும் அவள் தன் தகப்பனை நோக்கி: நீர் எனக்கு ஒரு காரியம் செய்யவேண்டும்; நான் மலைகளின்மேல் போய்த்திரிந்து, நானும் என் தோழிமார்களும் என் கன்னிமையினிமித்தம் துக்கங்கொண்டாட, எனக்கு இரண்டு மாதம் தவணைகொடும் என்றாள்.

37. And she sayde vnto hir father: Do this for me, geue me leue to go downe vpo the mountaynes two monethes, that I maye bewepe my virginite with my playfeeres.

38. அதற்கு அவன்: போய்வா என்று அவளை இரண்டு மாதத்திற்கு அனுப்பிவிட்டான்; அவள் தன் தோழிமார்களோடும் கூடப்போய், தன் கன்னிமையினிமித்தம் மலைகளின்மேல் துக்கங்கொண்டாடி,

38. He sayde: Go thy waye. And he let her go two monethes. Then wente she with her playefeeres, and bewayled hir mayden heade vpon the mountaynes.

39. இரண்டு மாதம் முடிந்தபின்பு, தன் தகப்பனிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பிவந்தாள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் பண்ணியிருந்த தன் பொருத்தனையின்படி அவளுக்குச் செய்தான்; அவள் புருஷனை அறியாதிருந்தாள்.

39. And after two monethes she came agayne vnto hir father. And he dyd vnto her acordinge as he had vowed. And she had neuer bene in daunger of eny man. And it was a custome in Israel,

40. இதினிமித்தம் இஸ்ரவேலின் குமாரத்திகள் வருஷந்தோறும் போய், நாலு நாள் கீலேயாத்தியனான யெப்தாவின் குமாரத்தியைக்குறித்துப் புலம்புவது இஸ்ரவேலிலே வழக்கமாயிற்று.

40. that the doughters of Israel shulde go euery yeare, and mourne for the doughter of Iephthae the Gileadite, foure dayes in the yeare.
