1. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுக்கும் தேசத்தின் ஜாதிகளை உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் வேரற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணுவதினால், நீ அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் பட்டணங்களிலும் அவர்கள் வீடுகளிலும் குடியேறும்போது,

1. When the Lord thy God hath rooted out the nations whose lande the Lorde thy God geueth thee, and thou succeedest in their inheritaunce, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses:

2. நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரிக்கக் கொடுக்கும் உன் தேசத்தின் நடுவிலே, உனக்காக மூன்று பட்டணங்களைப் பிரித்துவைக்கக்கடவாய்.

2. Thou shalt seperate three cities for thee in the middes of the lande which the Lorde thy God geueth thee to possesse it:

3. கொலைசெய்தவன் எவனும் அங்கே ஓடிப்போகும்படி உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னைச் சுதந்தரிக்கப்பண்ணப்போகிற உன் தேசத்தின் எல்லையை நீ மூன்று பங்காகப் பகுத்து அதற்கு வழியை உண்டுபண்ணக்கடவாய்.

3. Thou shalt prepare the way, and deuide the coastes of thy lande which the Lorde thy God geueth thee to inherite, into three partes, that whosoeuer committeth murther, may flee thyther.

4. கொலைசெய்து அங்கே ஓடிப்போய், உயிரோடிருக்கத்தக்கவன் யாரென்றால்: தான் முன்னே பகைத்திராத பிறனொருவனை மனதறியாமல் கொன்றவன்தானே.

4. For this cause must the slayer flee thyther, that he may lyue: Who so kylleth his neighbour ignorauntly, and hated hym not in tyme passed:

5. ஒருவன் விறகுவெட்ட மற்றொருவனோடே காட்டில் போய், மரத்தை வெட்டத் தன் கையிலிருந்த கோடரியை ஓங்கும்போது, இரும்பானது காம்பை விட்டுக் கழன்று மற்றவன்மேல் பட்டதினால் அவன் இறந்துபோனால்,

5. And whe a man goeth vnto the wood with his neighbour to hewe wood, and as his hande fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut downe the tree, the head slippeth from the helue, and smyteth his neighbour that he dyeth: the same shall flee vnto one of the same cities, and lyue:

6. இரத்தப்பழிக்காரன் தன் மனம் எரிகையில் கொலைசெய்தவனை வழி தூரமாயிருக்கிறதினாலே பின்தொடர்ந்து பிடித்து, அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடாதபடிக்கு, இவன் அந்தப் பட்டணங்கள் ஒன்றில் ஓடிப்போய் உயிரோடிருப்பானாக; இவன் அவனை முன்னே பகைக்காதபடியினால், இவன்மேல் சாவுக்கான குற்றம் சுமரவில்லை.

6. Lest the auenger of the blood folowe after the slayer whyle his heart is hot, & ouertake hym because the wayes is long, and slay hym, and yet there is no cause worthy of death in hym, in as much as he hated hym not in tyme passed.

7. இதினிமித்தம் மூன்று பட்டணங்களை உனக்காகப் பிரித்துவைக்கக்கடவாய் என்று நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிடுகிறேன்.

7. Wherfore I commaunde thee, saying: Thou shalt appoynt out three cities for thee.

8. நீ உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரிடத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்து, எந்நாளும் அவர் வழிகளில் நடப்பதற்காக, இன்று நான் உனக்குக் கற்பிக்கிற இந்த எல்லாக் கற்பனைகளையும் கைக்கொண்டு அதின்படி செய்து,

8. And if the Lorde thy God enlarge thy coastes (as he hath sworne vnto thy fathers) and geue thee all the lande which he sayde he woulde geue vnto thy fathers:

9. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டபடியே, அவர் உன் எல்லையை விஸ்தாரமாக்கி, உன் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்று சொன்ன தேசம் முழுவதையும் உனக்குக் கொடுத்தால்,

9. Thou shalt kepe all these commaundementes to do them, which I commaunde thee this day, that thou loue the Lorde thy God, and walke in his wayes euer: and adde three cities mo for thee beside these three,

10. அப்பொழுது உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கும் உன் தேசத்தில் குற்றமில்லாத இரத்தம் சிந்தப்படுதிறதினால் உன்மேல் இரத்தப்பழி சுமராதபடிக்கு, இந்த மூன்று பட்டணங்களும் அல்லாமல் இன்னும் மூன்று பட்டணங்களை ஏற்படுத்தக்கடவாய்.

10. That innocent blood be not shed in thy lande, which the Lord thy God geueth thee to inherite, and so blood come vpon thee.

11. ஒருவன் பிறனொருவனைப் பகைத்து, அவனுக்குப் பதிவிருந்து, அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்பி, அவன் சாகும்படி அவனை அடித்து, இந்தப் பட்டணங்களில் ஒன்றில் ஓடிப்போயிருப்பானாகில்,

11. But and if any man hate his neyghbour, and lay awayte for hym, and ryse agaynst hym, and smyte hym that he die, & then fleeth vnto any of these cities:

12. அந்தப் பட்டணத்தின் மூப்பர்கள் ஆள் அனுப்பி, அங்கேயிருந்து அவனைக் கொண்டுவரும்படி செய்து, அவன் சாகும்படிக்கு அவனை இரத்தப்பழி வாங்குகிறவன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கக்கடவர்கள்.

12. The elders of his citie shall sende and fetch hym thence, and deliuer hym into the handes of the auenger of blood, that he may dye.

13. உன் கண் அவனுக்கு இரங்கவேண்டாம்; குற்றமில்லாத இரத்தப்பழியை இஸ்ரவேலை விட்டு விலக்கக்கடவாய்; அப்பொழுது நீ நன்றாயிருப்பாய்.

13. Thine eye shall not spare hym, but thou shalt put away [the crye of] innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.

14. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கும் தேசத்தில் உன் கைவசமாயிருக்கும் காணியாட்சியிலே முன்னோர்கள் குறித்திருக்கிற பிறனுடைய எல்லையை ஒற்றிப்போடாயாக.

14. Thou shalt not remoue thy neyghbours marke, which they of olde time haue set in thine inheritaunce, that thou shalt inherite in the lande which the Lorde thy God geueth thee to enioy it.

15. ஒருவன் எந்த அக்கிரமத்தையாவது எந்தப் பாவத்தையாவது செய்தான் என்று சொல்லப்பட்டால், ஒரே சாட்சியினால் நியாயந்தீர்க்கக்கூடாது; இரண்டு மூன்று சாட்சிகளுடைய வாக்கினாலே காரியம் நிலைவரப்படவேண்டும்.

15. One witnesse shall not rise agaynst a man for any maner trespasse, or for any maner sinne, or for any maner fault that he offendeth in: but at the mouth of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall the matter be stablished.

16. ஒருவன்மேல் ஒரு குற்றத்தைச் சுமத்தும்படி, ஒரு பொய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரன் அவன்மேல் சாட்சி சொல்ல எழும்பினால்,

16. If a false witnesse rise vp agaynst a man, to accuse hym of trespasse:

17. வழக்காடுகிற இருவரும் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் அக்காலத்தில் இருக்கும் ஆசாரியர்களுக்கும் நியாயாதிபதிகளுக்கும் முன்பாக வந்து நிற்பார்களாக.

17. Then both the men which stryue together, shall stande before the Lorde, before the priestes and the iudges which shalbe in those dayes:

18. அப்பொழுது நியாயாதிபதிகள் நன்றாய் விசாரணை செய்யக்கடவர்கள்; சாட்சி கள்ளச்சாட்சி என்றும், தன் சகோதரன்மேல் அபாண்டமாய்க் குற்றஞ்சாற்றினான் என்றும் கண்டால்,

18. And the iudges shall make diligent inquisition: and if the witnesse be founde false, and that he hath geuen false witnesse agaynst his brother:

19. அவன் தன் சகோதரனுக்குச் செய்ய நினைத்தபடியே அவனுக்குச் செய்யக்கடவீர்கள்; இவ்விதமாய்த் தீமையை உன் நடுவிலிருந்து விலக்குவாயாக.

19. Then shall ye do vnto hym, as he had thought to do vnto his brother, & thou shalt put euyll away from the middes of thee.

20. மற்றவர்களும் அதைக் கேட்டுப் பயந்து, இனி உங்களுக்குள்ளே அப்படிப்பட்ட தீமையைச் செய்யாதிருப்பார்கள்.

20. And other shall heare, and feare, and shall hencefoorth commit no more any such wickednesse among you.

21. உன் கண் அவனுக்கு இரங்கவேண்டாம்; ஜீவனுக்கு ஜீவன், கண்ணுக்குக் கண், பல்லுக்குப் பல், கைக்குக் கை, காலுக்குக் கால் கொடுக்கப்படவேண்டும்.

21. And thine eye shall haue no copassion, but lyfe for lyfe, eye for eye, toothe for toothe, hande for hande, foote for foote.
