1. கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

1. The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying,

2. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் நிமித்தம் மீதியானியரிடத்தில் பழிவாங்குவாயாக; அதன் பின்பு உன் ஜனத்தாரிடத்தில் சேர்க்கப்படுவாய் என்றார்.

2. Avenge the children of Yisra'el of the Midyanim: afterward you shall be gathered to your people.

3. அப்பொழுது மோசே ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் நிமித்தம் மீதியானியரிடத்தில் பழிவாங்கும்பொருட்டு, உங்களில் அவர்கள்மேல் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போகத்தக்கதாக மனிதரைப் பிரித்தெடுங்கள்.

3. Moshe spoke to the people, saying, Arm you men from among you for the war, that they may go against Midyan, to execute the LORD's vengeance on Midyan.

4. இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லாக் கோத்திரங்களிலும் ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரத்தில் ஆயிரம்பேரை யுத்தத்திற்கு அனுப்பவேண்டும் என்றான்.

4. Of every tribe one thousand, throughout all the tribes of Yisra'el, shall you send to the war.

5. அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலராகிய அநேகம் ஆயிரங்களில், ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரத்தில் ஆயிரமாயிரம் பேராகப் பன்னீராயிரம்பேர் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் நிறுத்தப்பட்டார்கள்.

5. So there were delivered, out of the thousands of Yisra'el, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.

6. மோசே அவர்களையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரின் குமாரன் பினெகாசையும் யுத்தத்திற்கு அனுப்புகையில், அவன் கையிலே பரிசுத்த தட்டுமுட்டுகளையும், தொனிக்கும் பூரிகைகளையும் கொடுத்து அனுப்பினான்.

6. Moshe sent them, one thousand of every tribe, to the war, them and Pinechas the son of El`azar the Kohen, to the war, with the vessels of the sanctuary and the trumpets for the alarm in his hand.

7. கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே அவர்கள் மீதியானியருடன் யுத்தம்பண்ணி, புருஷர்கள் யாவரையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

7. They warred against Midyan, as the LORD commanded Moshe; and they killed every male.

8. அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோட்டதும் அன்றி, மீதியானியரின் ஐந்து ராஜாக்களாகிய ஏவி, ரேக்கேம், சூர், ஊர், ரேபா என்பவர்களையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள். பேயோரின் குமாரனாகிய பிலேயாமையும் பட்டயத்தினாலே கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

8. They killed the kings of Midyan with the rest of their slain: Evi, and Rekem, and Tzur, and Hur, and Reva, the five kings of Midyan: Bil`am also the son of Be'or they killed with the sword.

9. அன்றியும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மீதியானியரின் ஸ்திரீகளையும் குழந்தைகளையும் சிறைபிடித்து, அவர்களுடைய மிருகஜீவன்களாகிய ஆடுமாடுகள் யாவையும், மற்ற ஆஸ்திகள் யாவையும் கொள்ளையிட்டு,

9. The children of Yisra'el took captive the women of Midyan and their little ones; and all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods, they took for a prey.

10. அவர்கள் குடியிருந்த ஊர்கள் கோட்டைகள் யாவையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்து,

10. All their cities in the places in which they lived, and all their encampments, they burnt with fire.

11. தாங்கள் கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருளையும் தாங்கள் பிடித்த நரஜீவன் மிருகஜீவன் அனைத்தையும் சேர்த்து,

11. They took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of man and of animal.

12. சிறைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்ட மனிதரையும், மிருகங்களையும், கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருள்களையும், எரிகோவின் அருகேயுள்ள யோர்தானுக்கு இக்கரையில் மோவாபின் சமனான வெளிகளிலுள்ள பாளயத்திலிருந்த மோசேயினிடத்துக்கும், ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரினிடத்துக்கும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையாரிடத்துக்கும் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.

12. They brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, to Moshe, and to El`azar the Kohen, and to the congregation of the children of Yisra'el, to the camp at the plains of Mo'av, which are by the Yarden at Yericho.

13. மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் சபையின் பிரபுக்கள் எல்லாரும் அவர்களைச் சந்திக்கப் பாளயத்திற்கு வெளியே புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

13. Moshe, and El`azar the Kohen, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them outside of the camp.

14. அப்பொழுது மோசே யுத்தத்திலிருந்து வந்த ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரும், நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவருமாகிய சேனாபதிகள்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு,

14. Moshe was angry with the officers of the host, the captains of thousands and the captains of hundreds, who came from the service of the war.

15. அவர்களை நோக்கி: ஸ்திரீகள் எல்லாரையும் உயிரோடே விட்டுவிட்டீர்களா?

15. Moshe said to them, Have you saved all the women alive?

16. பேயோரின் சங்கதியிலே பிலேயாமின் ஆலோசனையினால் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்த் துரோகம்பண்ணக் காரணமாயிருந்தவர்கள் இவர்கள்தானே; அதினால் கர்த்தரின் சபையிலே வாதையும் நேரிட்டதே.

16. Behold, these caused the children of Yisra'el, through the counsel of Bil`am, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Pe`or, and so the plague was among the congregation of the LORD.

17. ஆகையால் குழந்தைகளில் எல்லா ஆண்பிள்ளைகளையும், புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறிந்த எல்லா ஸ்திரீகளையும் கொன்றுபோடுங்கள்.

17. Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman who has known man by lying with him.

18. ஸ்திரீகளில் புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறியாத எல்லாப் பெண்பிள்ளைகளையும் உங்களுக்காக உயிரோடே வையுங்கள்.

18. But all the girls, who have not known man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.

19. பின்பு நீங்கள் ஏழுநாள் பாளயத்திற்குப் புறம்பே தங்குங்கள்; நரஜீவனைக் கொன்றவர்களும். வெட்டுண்டவர்களைத் தொட்டவர்களுமாகிய நீங்கள் யாவரும் மூன்றாம் நாளிலும் ஏழாம் நாளிலும் உங்களையும் உங்களால் சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்டவர்களையும் சுத்திகரித்து,

19. Encamp you outside of the camp seven days: whoever has killed any person, and whoever has touched any slain, purify yourselves on the third day and on the seventh day, you and your captives.

20. அந்தப்படியே எல்லா வஸ்திரத்தையும், தோலால் செய்த கருவிகளையும், வெள்ளாட்டுமயிரினால் நெய்தவைகளையும், மரச்சாமான்களையும் சுத்திகரிக்கக்கடவீர்கள் என்றான்.

20. As to every garment, and all that is made of skin, and all work of goats' hair, and all things made of wood, you shall purify yourselves.

21. ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போய்வந்த படைவீரரை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட விதிப்பிரமாணம் என்னவென்றால்:

21. El`azar the Kohen said to the men of war who went to the battle, This is the statute of the law which the LORD has commanded Moshe:

22. அக்கினிக்கு நிற்கத்தக்கவைகளாகிய பொன், வெள்ளி, வெண்கலம், இரும்பு, தகரம், ஈயம் ஆகிய இவைகளெல்லாம் சுத்தமாகும்படிக்கு,

22. however the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,

23. அவைகளை அக்கினியிலே போட்டெடுக்கக்கடவீர்கள்; தீட்டுக்கழிக்கும் தண்ணீராலும் அவைகள் சுத்திகரிக்கப்படவேண்டும்; அக்கினிக்கு நிற்கத்தகாதவைகளையெல்லாம் தண்ணீரினால் சுத்தம் பண்ணக்கடவீர்கள்.

23. everything that may abide the fire, you shall make to go through the fire, and it shall be clean; nevertheless it shall be purified with the water for impurity: and all that doesn't withstand the fire you shall make to go through the water.

24. ஏழாம் நாளில் உங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கவேண்டும்; அப்பொழுது சுத்தமாயிருப்பீர்கள்; பின்பு நீங்கள் பாளயத்திற்குள் வரலாம் என்றான்.

24. You shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and you shall be clean; and afterward you shall come into the camp.

25. கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

25. The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying,

26. பிடித்துக்கொண்டு வரப்பட்ட மனிதரையும் மிருகங்களையும் நீயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் சபையினுடைய பிதாக்களாகிய தலைவரும் தொகை பார்த்து,

26. Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of animal, you, and El`azar the Kohen, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the congregation;

27. கொள்ளையிடப்பட்டதை இரண்டு பங்காகப் பங்கிட்டு, யுத்தத்திற்குப் படையெடுத்துப்போனவர்களுக்கும் சபையனைத்திற்கும் கொடுங்கள்.

27. and divide the prey into two parts: between the men skilled in war, who went out to battle, and all the congregation.

28. மேலும் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போன படைவீரரிடத்தில் கர்த்தருக்காக மனிதரிலும் மாடுகளிலும் கழுதைகளிலும் ஆடுகளிலும் ஐந்நூற்றிற்கு ஒரு பிராணி வீதமாக பகுதி வாங்கி,

28. Levy a tribute to the LORD of the men of war who went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the oxen, and of the donkeys, and of the flocks:

29. அவர்களுடைய பாதிப்பங்கில் எடுத்து, கர்த்தருக்கு ஏறெடுத்துப்படைக்கும் படைப்பாக ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கு கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

29. take it of their half, and give it to El`azar the Kohen, for the LORD's heave-offering.

30. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் பாதிப்பங்கிலோ மனிதரிலும், மாடுகள் கழுதைகள் ஆடுகளாகிய சகலவித மிருகங்களிலும், ஐம்பதிற்கு ஒன்று வீதமாய் வாங்கி, அவைகளைக் கர்த்தருடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தின் காவலைக்காக்கும் லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்.

30. Of the children of Yisra'el's half, you shall take one drawn out of every fifty, of the persons, of the oxen, of the donkeys, and of the flocks, even of all the cattle, and give them to the Levites, who keep the charge of the tent of the LORD.

31. கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் செய்தார்கள்.

31. Moshe and El`azar the Kohen did as the LORD commanded Moshe.

32. படைவீரர் கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருளில், ஆறுலட்சத்து எழுபத்தையாயிரம் ஆடுகளும்,

32. Now the prey, over and above the booty which the men of war took, was six hundred seventy-five thousand sheep,

33. எழுபத்தீராயிரம் மாடுகளும்,

33. and seventy-two thousand oxen,

34. அறுபத்தோராயிரம் கழுதைகளும் மீதியாயிருந்தது.

34. and seventy-one thousand donkeys,

35. புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறியாத ஸ்திரீகளில் முப்பத்தீராயிரம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.

35. and thirty-two thousand persons in all, of the women who had not known man by lying with him.

36. யுத்தஞ்செய்யப் போனவர்களுக்குக் கிடைத்த பாதிப்பங்கின் தொகையாவது: ஆடுகள் மூன்றுலட்சத்து முப்பத்தேழாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு.

36. The half, which was the portion of those who went out to war, was in number three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep:

37. இந்த ஆடுகளிலே கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தது அறுநூற்று எழுபத்தைந்து.

37. and the LORD's tribute of the sheep was six hundred seventy-five.

38. மாடுகள் முப்பத்தாறாயிரம்; அவைகளில் கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தது எழுபத்திரண்டு.

38. The oxen were thirty-six thousand; of which the LORD's tribute was seventy-two.

39. கழுதைகள் முப்பதினாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு; அவைகளில் கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தது அறுபத்தொன்று.

39. The donkeys were thirty thousand five hundred; of which the LORD's tribute was sixty-one.

40. நரஜீவன்கள் பதினாறாயிரம்பேர்; அவர்களில் கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தவர்கள் முப்பத்திரண்டு பேர்.

40. The persons were sixteen thousand; of whom the LORD's tribute was thirty-two persons.

41. கர்த்தருக்கு ஏறெடுத்துப் படைக்கும் அந்தப் பகுதியை, மோசே கர்த்தர் தனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே. ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரிடத்தில் கொடுத்தான்.

41. Moshe gave the tribute, which was the LORD's heave-offering, to El`azar the Kohen, as the LORD commanded Moshe.

42. யுத்தம்பண்ணின பேர்களுக்கும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கும் மோசே பாதி பாதியாகப் பங்கிட்டதின்படியே சபையாருக்கு வந்த பாதிப்பங்காவது:

42. Of the children of Yisra'el's half, which Moshe divided off from the men who warred

43. ஆடுகளில் மூன்றுலட்சத்து முப்பத்தேழாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு,

43. (now the congregation's half was three hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred sheep,

44. மாடுகளில் முப்பத்தாறாயிரம்,

44. and thirty-six thousand oxen,

45. கழுதைகளில் முப்பதினாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு,

45. and thirty thousand five hundred donkeys,

46. நரஜீவன்களில் பதினாயிரம்பேருமே.

46. and sixteen thousand persons),

47. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் பாதிப்பங்குக்கு வந்த இந்த நரஜீவன்களிலும் மிருகங்களிலும் மோசே ஐம்பதுக்கு ஒன்று வீதமாக, எடுத்து அவைகளைக் கர்த்தர் தனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, கர்த்தருடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தின் காவலைக் காக்கிற லேவியருக்குக் கொடுத்தான்.

47. even of the children of Yisra'el's half, Moshe took one drawn out of every fifty, both of man and of animal, and gave them to the Levites, who kept the charge of the tent of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moshe.

48. பின்பு ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரும் நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவருமான சேனாபதிகள் மோசேயினிடத்தில் வந்து,

48. The officers who were over the thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and the captains of hundreds, came near to Moshe;

49. உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் எங்கள் கையின் கீழிருக்கிற யுத்தமனிதரைத் தொகை பார்த்தோம்; அவர்களுக்குள்ளே ஒரு ஆளும் குறையவில்லை.

49. and they said to Moshe, Your servants have taken the sum of the men of war who are under our charge, and there lacks not one man of us.

50. ஆகையால், கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் எங்கள் ஆத்துமாக்களுக்காகப் பாவநிவிர்த்தி செய்யும்பொருட்டு, எங்களுக்குக் கிடைத்த பொற்பணிகளாகிய பாதசரங்களையும், அஸ்தகடகங்களையும், மோதிரங்களையும், காதணிகளையும், காப்புகளையும் கர்த்தருக்குக் காணிக்கையாகக் கொண்டுவந்தோம் என்றார்கள்.

50. We have brought the LORD's offering, what every man has gotten, of jewels of gold, ankle-chains, and bracelets, signet-rings, ear-rings, and armlets, to make atonement for our souls before the LORD.

51. அப்பொழுது மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் சகலவித வேலைப்பாடான பணிதிகளான அந்தப் பொன்னாபரணங்களை அவர்களிடத்தில் வாங்கினார்கள்.

51. Moshe and El`azar the Kohen took the gold of them, even all worked jewels.

52. இப்படி ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களாலும் நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களாலும் கர்த்தருக்கு ஏறெடுத்துப் படைக்கும் காணிக்கையாகச் செலுத்தப்பட்ட பொன் முழுவதும் பதினாறாயிரத்து எழுநூற்று ஐம்பது சேக்கல் நிறையாயிருந்தது.

52. All the gold of the heave-offering that they offered up to the LORD, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred fifty shekels.

53. யுத்தத்திற்குப் போன மனிதர் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்கள் தங்களுக்காக் கொள்ளையிட்டிருந்தார்கள்.

53. (For the men of war had taken booty, every man for himself.)

54. அந்தப் பொன்னை மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் ஆயிரம் பேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களின் கையிலும், நூறு பேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களின் கையிலும் வாங்கி, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு ஞாபகக்குறியாக ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்திலே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் கொண்டுவந்து வைத்தார்கள்.

54. Moshe and El`azar the Kohen took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tent of meeting, for a memorial for the children of Yisra'el before the LORD.
