1. மோசே மீதியான் தேசத்து ஆசாரியனாயிருந்த தன் மாமனாகிய எத்திரோவின் ஆடுகளை மேய்த்துவந்தான். அவன் ஆடுகளை வனாந்தரத்தின் பின்புறத்திலே ஓட்டி, தேவபர்வதமாகிய ஓரேப் மட்டும் வந்தான்.

1. Moses kept the sheep of Jethro his father-in-law priest of Madian, and he drove the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, Horeb.

2. அங்கே கர்த்தருடைய தூதனானவர் ஒரு முட்செடியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உண்டான அக்கினிஜூவாலையிலே நின்று அவனுக்குத் தரிசனமானார். அப்பொழுது அவன் உற்றுப்பார்த்தான்; முட்செடி அக்கினியால் ஜூவாலித்து எரிந்தும், அது வெந்துபோகாமல் இருந்தது.

2. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of a bush. And he perceived that the bush burned with fire, and consumed not.

3. Then Moses said: I will go hence and see this great sight, how it cometh that the bush burneth not.

4. அவன் பார்க்கும்படி கிட்ட வருகிறதைக் கர்த்தர் கண்டார். முட்செடியின் நடுவிலிருந்து தேவன் அவனை நோக்கி: மோசே, மோசே என்று கூப்பிட்டார். அவன்: இதோ, அடியேன் என்றான்.

4. And when the LORD saw that he came for to see, he called unto him out of the bush and said: Moses Moses; And he answered: here am I.

5. அப்பொழுது அவர்: இங்கே கிட்டிச்சேராயாக; உன் கால்களில் இருக்கிற பாதரட்சையைக் கழற்றிப்போடு; நீ நிற்கிற இடம் பரிசுத்த பூமி என்றார்.

5. And he said: come not hither, but put thy shoes off thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.

6. பின்னும் அவர்: நான் ஆபிரகாமின் தேவனும் ஈசாக்கின் தேவனும் யாக்கோபின் தேவனுமாகிய உன் பிதாக்களுடைய தேவனாயிருக்கிறேன் என்றார். மோசே தேவனை நோக்கிப்பார்க்கப் பயந்ததினால், தன் முகத்தை மூடிக்கொண்டான்.

6. And he said: I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look upon God.

7. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர்: எகிப்திலிருக்கிற என் ஜனத்தின் உபத்திரவத்தை நான் பார்க்கவே பார்த்து, ஆளோட்டிகளினிமித்தம் அவர்கள் இடுகிற கூக்குரலைக் கேட்டேன், அவர்கள் படுகிற வேதனைகளையும் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்.

7. Then the LORD said: I have surely seen the trouble of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry, which they have of their taskmasters. For I know their sorrow,

8. அவர்களை எகிப்தியரின் கைக்கு விடுதலையாக்கவும், அவர்களை அந்தத் தேசத்திலிருந்து நீக்கி, கானானியரும் ஏத்தியரும் எமோரியரும் பெரிசியரும் ஏவியரும் எபூசியரும் இருக்கிற இடமாகிய பாலும் தேனும் ஓடுகிற நலமும் விசாலமுமான தேசத்தில் கொண்டுபோய்ச் சேர்க்கவும் இறங்கினேன்.

8. and am come down to deliver them out of the hands of the Egyptians, and to bring them out of that land unto a good land and a large, and unto a land that floweth with milk and honey: even unto the place of the Cananites, Hethites, Amorites, Pherezites, Hevites, and of the Jebusites.

9. இப்பொழுதும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் கூக்குரல் என் சந்நிதியில் வந்து எட்டினது; எகிப்தியர் அவர்களை ஒடுக்குகிற ஒடுக்குதலையும் கண்டேன்.

9. Now therefore behold, the complaint of the children of Israel is come unto me and I have also seen the oppression, wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.

10. நீ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய என் ஜனத்தை எகிப்திலிருந்து அழைத்து வரும்படி உன்னைப் பார்வோனிடத்துக்கு அனுப்புவேன் வா என்றார்.

10. But come, I will send thee unto Pharao, that thou mayst bring my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

11. அப்பொழுது மோசே தேவனை நோக்கி: பார்வோனிடத்துக்குப் போகவும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை எகிப்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவரவும், நான் எம்மாத்திரம் என்றான்.

11. And Moses said unto God: what, am I to go to Pharao and to bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?

12. அதற்கு அவர்: நான் உன்னோடே இருப்பேன்; நீ ஜனத்தை எகிப்திலிருந்து அழைத்துவந்தபின், நீங்கள் இந்த மலையில் தேவனுக்கு ஆராதனை செய்வீர்கள்; நான் உன்னை அனுப்பினேன் என்பதற்கு இதுவே அடையாளம் என்றார்.

12. And he said: I will be with thee. And this shall be a token unto thee that I have sent thee: after that thou hast brought the people out of Egypt, ye shall serve God upon this mountain.

13. அப்பொழுது மோசே தேவனை நோக்கி: நான் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரிடத்தில் போய், உங்கள் பிதாக்களுடைய தேவன் உங்களிடத்தில் என்னை அனுப்பினார் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லும்போது, அவருடைய நாமம் என்ன என்று அவர்கள் என்னிடத்தில் கேட்டால், நான் அவர்களுக்கு என்ன சொல்லுவேன் என்றான்.

13. Then said Moses unto God: when I come unto the children of Israel and say unto them, the God of your fathers hath sent me unto you, and they say unto me, what is his name, what answer shall I give them?

14. அதற்குத் தேவன்: இருக்கிறவராக இருக்கிறேன் என்று மோசேயுடனே சொல்லி, இருக்கிறேன் என்பவர் என்னை உங்களிடத்துக்கு அனுப்பினார் என்று இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரோடே சொல்வாயாக என்றார்.

14. Then said God unto Moses: I will be what I will be: and he said, this shalt thou say unto the children of Israel: I will be did send me to you.

15. And God spake further unto Moses: thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel: the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial thorowout all generations.

16. Go therefore and gather the elders of Israel together and say unto them: the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob, appeared unto me and said: I have been and seen both you and that which is done to you in Egypt.

17. நான் உங்களை எகிப்தின் சிறுமையிலிருந்து நீக்கி, பாலும் தேனும் ஓடுகிற தேசமாகிய கானானியர் ஏத்தியர் எமோரியர் பெரிசியர் ஏவியர் எபூசியருடைய தேசத்துக்குக் கொண்டுபோவேன் என்றும் சொன்னேன் என்றார் என்று சொல்லு.

17. And I have said it, that I will bring you out of the tribulation of Egypt unto the land of the Cananites, Hethites, Amorites, Pherezites, Hevites and Jebusites: even a land that floweth with milk and honey.

18. அவர்கள் உன் வாக்குக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பார்கள்; அப்பொழுது நீயும் இஸ்ரவேலின் மூப்பரும் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய்: எபிரெயருடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் எங்களைச் சந்தித்தார்; இப்பொழுதும் நாங்கள் வனாந்தரத்தில் மூன்று நாள் பிரயாணம்போய், எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பலியிடும்படி எங்களைப் போகவிடவேண்டுமென்று சொல்லுங்கள்.

18. If it come to pass that they hear thy voice, then go, both thou and the elders of Israel unto the king of Egypt, and say unto him: The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: Let us go therefore three days' journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God.

19. ஆனாலும், எகிப்தின் ராஜா கைவல்லமை கண்டாலொழிய, உங்களைப் போகவிடான் என்று நான் அறிவேன்.

19. Notwithstanding I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, except it be with a mighty hand:

20. ஆகையால், நான் என் கையை நீட்டி, எகிப்தின் நடுவிலே நான் செய்யும் சகலவித அற்புதங்களாலும் அதை வாதிப்பேன்; அதற்குப்பின் அவன் உங்களைப் போகவிடுவான்.

20. yea and I will therefore stretch out mine hand, and smite Egypt with all my wonders which I will do therein. And after that he will let you go.

21. அப்பொழுது இந்த ஜனங்களுக்கு எகிப்தியரின் கண்களில் தயவு கிடைக்கப்பண்ணுவேன்; நீங்கள் போகும்போது வெறுமையாய்ப் போவதில்லை.

21. And I will get this people favour in the sight of the Egyptians: so that when ye go, ye shall not go empty:

22. ஒவ்வொரு ஸ்திரீயும், தன்தன் அயலகத்தாளிடத்திலும் தன்தன் வீட்டில் தங்குகிறவளிடத்திலும், வெள்ளியுடைமைகளையும் பொன்னுடைமைகளையும் வஸ்திரங்களையும் கேட்டு வாங்குவாள்; அவைகளை உங்கள் குமாரருக்கும் உங்கள் குமாரத்திகளுக்கும் தரிப்பித்து, எகிப்தியரைக் கொள்ளையிடுவீர்கள் என்றார்.

22. but every wife shall borrow of her neighbouress and of her that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver and of gold and raiment. And ye shall put them on your sons and daughters, and shall rob the Egyptians.
