1. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையார் எல்லாரும் ஏலிமைவிட்டுப் பிரயாணம்பண்ணி, எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட இரண்டாம் மாதம் பதினைந்தாம் தேதியிலே, ஏலிமுக்கும் சீனாய்க்கும் நடுவே இருக்கிற சீன்வனாந்தரத்தில் சேர்ந்தார்கள்.

1. And they took their journey from Elim, and all the whole company of the children of Israel came to the wilderness of Sin, which lieth between Elim and Sinai: the fifteenth day of the second month after that they were come out of the land of Egypt.

2. அந்த வனாந்தரத்திலே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையார் எல்லாரும் மோசேக்கும் ஆரோனுக்கும் விரோதமாக முறுமுறுத்து:

2. And the hole multitude of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness,

3. நாங்கள் இறைச்சிப் பாத்திரங்களண்டையிலே உட்கார்ந்து அப்பத்தைத் திருப்தியாகச் சாப்பிட்ட எகிப்து தேசத்திலே, கர்த்தரின் கையால் செத்துப்போனோமானால் தாவிளை; இந்தக் கூட்டம் முழுவதையும் பட்டினியினால் கொல்லும்படி நீங்கள் எங்களைப் புறப்படப்பண்ணி, இந்த வனாந்தரத்திலே அழைத்துவந்தீர்களே என்று அவர்களிடத்தில் சொன்னார்கள்.

3. and said unto them: would to God we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh pots, and ate bread our bellies' full for ye have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this hole multitude for hunger.

4. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: நான் உங்களுக்கு வானத்திலிருந்து அப்பம் வருஷிக்கப்பண்ணுவேன்; ஜனங்கள் போய், ஒவ்வொரு நாளுக்கு வேண்டியதை ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் சேர்த்துக்கொள்ளவேண்டும்; அதினால் அவர்கள் என் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தின்படி நடப்பார்களோ நடக்கமாட்டார்களோ என்று அவர்களைச் சோதிப்பேன்.

4. Then said the LORD unto Moses: behold, I will rain bread from heaven down to you, and let the people go out, and gather day by day, that I may prove them whether they will walk in my law or no.

5. ஆறாம் நாளிலோ, அவர்கள் நாள்தோறும் சேர்க்கிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் இரண்டத்தனையாய்ச் சேர்த்து, அதை ஆயத்தம்பண்ணி வைக்கக்கடவர்கள் என்றார்.

5. The sixth day let them prepare that which they will bring in, and let it be twice as much as they gather in daily.

6. அப்பொழுது மோசேயும் ஆரோனும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எல்லாரையும் நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் உங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினவர் என்பதைச் சாயங்காலத்தில் அறிவீர்கள்;

6. And Moses and Aaron said unto all the children of Israel: at even ye shall know that it is the LORD, which brought you out of the land of Egypt,

7. விடியற்காலத்தில் கர்த்தருடைய மகிமையையும் காண்பீர்கள்; கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமான உங்கள் முறுமுறுப்புகளை அவர் கேட்டார்; நீங்கள் எங்களுக்கு விரோதமாய் முறுமுறுக்கிறதற்கு நாங்கள் எம்மாத்திரம் என்றார்கள்.

7. and in the morning ye shall see the glory of the LORD: because he hath heard your grudgings against the LORD: for what are we that ye should murmur against us?

8. பின்னும் மோசே: சாயங்காலத்தில் நீங்கள் புசிக்கிறதற்குக் கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு இறைச்சியையும், விடியற்காலத்தில் நீங்கள் திருப்தியடைகிறதற்கு அப்பத்தையும் கொடுக்கையில் இது விளங்கும்; கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக நீங்கள் முறுமுறுத்த உங்கள் முறுமுறுப்புகளை அவர் கேட்டார்; நாங்கள் எம்மாத்திரம்? உங்கள் முறுமுறுப்புகள் எங்களுக்கு அல்ல, கர்த்தருக்கே விரோதமாய் இருக்கிறது என்றான்.

8. And moreover spake Moses: At evening the LORD will give you flesh to eat, and in the morning bread enough, because the LORD hath heard your murmur which ye murmur against him: for what are we? your murmuring is not against us, but against the LORD.

9. அப்பொழுது மோசே ஆரோனைப் பார்த்து: நீ இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையார் எல்லாரையும் நோக்கி: கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் சேருங்கள், அவர் உங்கள் முறுமுறுப்புகளைக் கேட்டார் என்று சொல் என்றான்.

9. And Moses spake unto Aaron: Say unto all the company of the children of Israel, come forth before the LORD, for he hath heard your grudgings.

10. ஆரோன் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சபையாருக்கெல்லாம் இதைச் சொல்லுகிறபோது, அவர்கள் வனாந்தரதிசையாகத் திரும்பிப்பார்த்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய மகிமை மேகத்திலே காணப்பட்டது.

10. And as Aaron spake unto the hole multitude of the children of Israel, they looked toward the wilderness: and behold, the glory of the LORD appeared in a cloud.

11. கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

11. And the LORD spake unto Moses saying:

12. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் முறுமுறுப்புகளைக் கேட்டிருக்கிறேன்; நீ அவர்களோடே பேசி, நீங்கள் சாயங்காலத்தில் இறைச்சியைப் புசித்து, விடியற்காலத்தில் அப்பத்தால் திருப்தியாகி, நான் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்வீர்கள் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

12. I have heard the murmuring of the children of Israel, tell them therefore and say that at evening they shall eat flesh, and in the morning they shall be filled with bread, and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.

13. சாயங்காலத்தில் காடைகள் வந்து விழுந்து பாளயத்தை மூடிக்கொண்டது. விடியற்காலத்தில் பாளயத்தைச் சுற்றி பனி பெய்திருந்தது.

13. And at evening the quails came and covered the ground where they lay. And in the morning the dew lay round about the host.

14. பெய்திருந்த பனி நீங்கினபின், இதோ, வனாந்தரத்தின்மீதெங்கும் உருட்சியான ஒரு சிறிய வஸ்து உறைந்த பனிக்கட்டிப் பொடியத்தனையாய்த் தரையின்மேல் கிடந்தது.

14. And when the dew was fallen: behold, it lay upon the ground in the wilderness, small and round and thin as the hoar frost on the ground.

15. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அதைக் கண்டு, அது இன்னது என்று அறியாதிருந்து, ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பார்த்து, இது என்ன என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி: இது கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குப் புசிக்கக்கொடுத்த அப்பம்.

15. When the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another: what is this? for they wist not what it was; And Moses said: this is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.

16. கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிடுகிறது என்னவென்றால், அவரவர் புசிக்கும் அளவுக்குத் தக்கதாக அதில் எடுத்துச் சேர்க்கக்கடவீர்கள்; உங்களிலுள்ள ஆத்துமாக்களின் இலக்கத்தின்படி, அவனவன் தன் தன் கூடாரத்தில் இருக்கிறவர்களுக்காக தலைக்கு ஒரு ஓமர் அளவு எடுத்துக்கொள்ளக்கடவன் என்றான்.

16. This is the thing which the LORD hath commanded, that ye gather every man enough for him to eat: a gomer full for a man according to the number of you, and gather every man for them which are in his tent.

17. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அப்படியே செய்து, சிலர் மிகுதியாயும் சிலர் கொஞ்சமாயும் சேர்த்தார்கள்.

17. And the children of Israel did even so, and gathered some more some less,

18. பின்பு, அதை ஓமரால் அளந்தார்கள்: மிகுதியாய்ச் சேர்த்தவனுக்கு மீதியானதும் இல்லை, கொஞ்சமாய்ச் சேர்த்தவனுக்குக் குறைவானதும் இல்லை; அவரவர் தாங்கள் புசிக்கும் அளவுக்குத்தக்கதாகச் சேர்த்தார்கள்.

18. and did mete it with a gomer. And unto him that had gathered much remained nothing over, and unto him that had gathered little was there no lack: but every man had gathered sufficient for his eating.

19. மோசே அவர்களை நோக்கி: ஒருவனும் விடியற்காலம்மட்டும் அதில் ஒன்றும் வைக்கக்கூடாது என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லியும்;

19. And Moses said unto them: See that no man let ought remain of it till the morning.

20. மோசேயின் சொல் கேளாமல், சிலர் அதில் விடியற்காலம்மட்டும் கொஞ்சம் மீதியாய் வைத்தார்கள்; அது பூச்சி பிடித்து நாற்றமெடுத்தது. அவர்கள்மேல் மோசே கோபங்கொண்டான்.

20. Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto Moses: but some of the left of it until the mornynge, and it waxed full of worms and stank, and Moses was angry with them.

21. அதை விடியற்காலந்தோறும் அவரவர் புசிக்கும் அளவுக்குத்தக்கதாகச் சேர்த்தார்கள், வெயில் ஏறஏற அது உருகிப்போகும்.

21. And they gathered it all mornings: every man as much as sufficed for his eating, for as soon as the heat of the son(sonne) came it melted.

22. ஆறாம் நாளில் தலைக்கு இரண்டு ஓமர் வீதமாக இரண்டத்தனையாய் ஆகாரம் சேர்த்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது சபையின் தலைவர் எல்லாரும் வந்து, அதை மோசேக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

22. And the sixth day they gathered twice so much bread, two gomers for one man, and the rulers of the multitude came and told Moses.

23. அவன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் சொன்னது இதுதான்; நாளைக்குக் கர்த்தருக்குரிய பரிசுத்த ஓய்வுநாளாகிய ஓய்வு; நீங்கள் சுடவேண்டியதைச் சுட்டு, வேவிக்கவேண்டியதை வேவித்து, மீதியாயிருக்கிறதையெல்லாம் நாளைமட்டும் உங்களுக்காக வைத்துவையுங்கள் என்றான்.

23. And he said unto them: this is that which the LORD hath said: tomorrow is the Sabbath of the holy rest of the LORD: bake that which ye will bake and fetch that ye will fetch, and that which remaineth lay up for you, and keep it till the morning.

24. மோசே கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, அதை மறுநாள்வரைக்கும் வைத்துவைத்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அது நாறவும் இல்லை, அதிலே பூச்சிபிடிக்கவும் இல்லை.

24. And they laid it up till the morning as Moses bade, and it stank not, neither was there any worms therein.

25. அப்பொழுது மோசே; அதை இன்றைக்குப் புசியுங்கள்; இன்று கர்த்தருக்குரிய ஓய்வுநாள்; இன்று நீங்கள் அதை வெளியிலே காணமாட்டீர்கள்.

25. And Moses said: that eat this day: for today it is the LORD's Sabbath: today ye shall find none in the field.

26. ஆறுநாளும் அதைச் சேர்ப்பீர்களாக; ஏழாம்நாள் ஓய்வுநாளாயிருக்கிறது; அதிலே அது உண்டாயிராது என்றான்.

26. Sixth days ye shall gather it, for the seventh is the Sabbath: there shall be none therein.

27. ஏழாம்நாளில் ஜனங்களில் சிலர் அதைச் சேர்க்கப் புறப்பட்டார்கள்; அவர்கள் அதைக் காணவில்லை.

27. Notwithstanding there went out of the people in the seventh day for to gather: but they found none.

28. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: என் கட்டளைகளையும் என் பிரமாணங்களையும் கைக்கொள்ள எந்தமட்டும் மனதில்லாதிருப்பீர்கள்?

28. Then the LORD said unto Moses: how long shall it be, yer ye will keep my commandments and laws?

29. பாருங்கள், கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு ஓய்வுநாளை அருளினபடியால், அவர் உங்களுக்கு ஆறாம்நாளில் இரண்டு நாளுக்கு வேண்டிய ஆகாரத்தைக் கொடுக்கிறார்; ஏழாம்நாளில் உங்களில் ஒருவனும் தன்தன் ஸ்தானத்திலிருந்து புறப்படாமல், அவனவன் தன்தன் ஸ்தானத்திலே இருக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்.

29. See because the LORD hath given you a Sabbath, therefore he giveth you the sixth day bread for two days. Bide therefore every man at home, and let no man go out of his place the seventh day.

30. அப்படியே ஜனங்கள் ஏழாம்நாளில் ஓய்ந்திருந்தார்கள்.

30. And the people rested the seventh day.

31. இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்தார் அதற்கு மன்னா என்று பேரிட்டார்கள்; அது கொத்துமல்லி அளவாயும் வெண்மைநிறமாயும் இருந்தது, அதின் ருசி தேனிட்ட பணிகாரத்திற்கு ஒப்பாயிருந்தது.

31. And the house of Israel called it Man. And it was like unto Coriander seed and white, and the taste of it was like unto wafers made with honey.

32. அப்பொழுது மோசே: கர்த்தர் கட்டளையிட்ட காரியம் என்னவென்றால், நான் உங்களை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினபோது, வனாந்தரத்தில் உங்களுக்குப் புசிக்கக்கொடுத்த அப்பத்தை உங்கள் சந்ததியார் பார்க்கும்படிக்கு, அவர்களுக்காக அதைப் காப்பதற்கு, அதிலே ஒரு ஓமர் நிறைய எடுத்து வைக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

32. And Moses said: this is that which the LORD commandeth: fill a gomer of it, that it may be kept for your children after you: that they may see the bread wherewith he fed you in wilderness, when he had brought you out of the land of Egypt.

33. மேலும், மோசே ஆரோனை நோக்கி: நீ ஒரு கலசத்தை எடுத்து, அதிலே ஒரு ஓமர் அளவு மன்னாவைப் போட்டு, அதை உங்கள் சந்ததியாருக்காகக் காப்பதற்குக் கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியிலே வை என்றான்.
எபிரேயர் 9:4

33. And Moses spake unto Aaron: take a cruse and put a gomer full of Man therein, and lay it up before the LORD to be kept for your children after you,

34. கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே அது காக்கப்படும்படி ஆரோன் அதைச் சாட்சி சந்நிதியில் வைத்தான்.

34. as the LORD commanded Moses. And Aaron laid it up before the testimony there to be kept.

35. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் குடியிருப்பான தேசத்துக்கு வருமட்டும் நாற்பது வருஷமளவும் மன்னாவைப் புசித்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் கானான் தேசத்தின் எல்லையில் சேரும்வரைக்கும் மன்னாவைப் புசித்தார்கள்.

35. And the children of Israel ate man forty year until they came unto a land inhabited. And so they ate Man, even until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan,

36. and a gomer is the tenth part of an Epha.
