1. என் நாவினால் பாவஞ்செய்யாதபடிக்கு நான் என் வழிகளைக் காத்து, துன்மார்க்கன் எனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்குமட்டும் என் வாயைக் கடிவாளத்தால் அடக்கிவைப்பேன் என்றேன்.

1. To the chief music-maker. Of Jeduthun. A Psalm. Of David. I said, I will give attention to my ways, so that my tongue may do no wrong; I will keep my mouth under control, while the sinner is before me.

2. நான் மவுனமாகி, ஊமையனாயிருந்தேன், நலமானதையும் பேசாமல் அமர்ந்திருந்தேன்; ஆனாலும் என் துக்கம் அதிகரித்தது;

2. I made no sound, I said no word, even of good; and I was moved with sorrow.

3. என் இருதயம் எனக்குள்ளே அனல்கொண்டது; நான் தியானிக்கையில் அக்கினி மூண்டது; அப்பொழுது என் நாவினால் விண்ணப்பம் செய்தேன்.

3. My heart was burning in my breast; while I was deep in thought the fire was lighted; then I said with my tongue,

4. கர்த்தாவே, நான் எவ்வளவாய் நிலையற்றவன் என்று உணரும்படி என்முடிவையும், என் நாட்களின் அளவு இவ்வளவு என்பதையும் எனக்குத் தெரிவியும்.

4. Lord, give me knowledge of my end, and of the measure of my days, so that I may see how feeble I am.

5. இதோ, என் நாட்களை நாலு விரற்கடையளவாக்கினீர்; என் ஆயுசு உமது பார்வைக்கு இல்லாதது போலிருக்கிறது; எந்த மனுஷனும் மாயையே என்பது நிச்சயம். (சேலா)

5. You have made my days no longer than a hand's measure; and my years are nothing in your eyes; truly, every man is but a breath. (Selah.)

6. வேஷமாகவே மனுஷன் திரிகிறான்; விருதாவாகவே சஞ்சலப்படுகிறான்; ஆஸ்தியைச் சேர்க்கிறான். யார் அதை வாரிக்கொள்ளுவான் என்று அறியான்.

6. Truly, every man goes on his way like an image; he is troubled for no purpose: he makes a great store of wealth, and has no knowledge of who will get it.

7. இப்போதும் ஆண்டவரே, நான் எதற்கு எதிர்பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்? நீரே என் நம்பிக்கை.

7. And now, Lord, what am I waiting for? my hope is in you.

8. என் மீறுதல்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலுமிருந்து என்னை விடுதலையாக்கும், மூடனுடைய நிந்தனைக்கு என்னை ஒப்புக்கொடாதேயும்.

8. Make me free from all my sins; do not let me be shamed by the man of evil behaviour.

9. நீரே இதைச் செய்தீர் என்று நான் என் வாயைத் திறவாமல் மவுனமாயிருந்தேன்.

9. I was quiet, and kept my mouth shut; because you had done it.

10. என்னிலிருந்து உம்முடைய வாதையை எடுத்துப்போடும்; உமது கரத்தின் அடிகளால் நான் சோர்ந்து போனேன்.

10. No longer let your hand be hard on me; I am wasted by the blows of your hand.

11. அக்கிரமத்தினிமித்தம் நீர் மனுஷனைக் கடிந்துகொண்டு தண்டிக்கிறபோது, அவன் வடிவைப் பொட்டரிப்பைப்போல் அழியப்பண்ணுகிறீர்; நிச்சயமாக எந்த மனுஷனும் மாயையே. (சேலா)

11. By the weight of your wrath against man's sin, the glory of his form is wasted away; truly every man is but a breath. (Selah.)

12. கர்த்தாவே, என் ஜெபத்தைக் கேட்டு, என் கூப்பிடுதலுக்குச் செவிகொடும்; என் கண்ணீருக்கு மவுனமாயிராதேயும்; என் பிதாக்களெல்லாரையும்போல நானும் உமக்குமுன்பாக அந்நியனும் பரதேசியுமாயிருக்கிறேன்.

12. Let my prayer come to your ears, O Lord, and give attention to my cry, make an answer to my weeping: for my time here is short before you, and in a little time I will be gone, like all my fathers.

13. நான் இனி இராமற்போகுமுன்னே, தேறுதலடையும்படி என்னிடத்தில் பொறுமையாயிரும்.

13. Let your wrath be turned away from me, so that I may be comforted, before I go away from here, and become nothing.
