1. என் நாவினால் பாவஞ்செய்யாதபடிக்கு நான் என் வழிகளைக் காத்து, துன்மார்க்கன் எனக்கு முன்பாக இருக்குமட்டும் என் வாயைக் கடிவாளத்தால் அடக்கிவைப்பேன் என்றேன்.

1. To the excellent musician Ieduthun. I thought, I will take heede to my wayes, that I sinne not with my tongue: I will keepe my mouth brideled, while the wicked is in my sight.

2. நான் மவுனமாகி, ஊமையனாயிருந்தேன், நலமானதையும் பேசாமல் அமர்ந்திருந்தேன்; ஆனாலும் என் துக்கம் அதிகரித்தது;

2. I was dumme and spake nothing: I kept silece euen from good, and my sorow was more stirred.

3. என் இருதயம் எனக்குள்ளே அனல்கொண்டது; நான் தியானிக்கையில் அக்கினி மூண்டது; அப்பொழுது என் நாவினால் விண்ணப்பம் செய்தேன்.

3. Mine heart was hote within me, and while I was musing, the fire kindeled, and I spake with my tongue, saying,

4. கர்த்தாவே, நான் எவ்வளவாய் நிலையற்றவன் என்று உணரும்படி என்முடிவையும், என் நாட்களின் அளவு இவ்வளவு என்பதையும் எனக்குத் தெரிவியும்.

4. Lord, let me know mine ende, and the measure of my dayes, what it is: let mee knowe howe long I haue to liue.

5. இதோ, என் நாட்களை நாலு விரற்கடையளவாக்கினீர்; என் ஆயுசு உமது பார்வைக்கு இல்லாதது போலிருக்கிறது; எந்த மனுஷனும் மாயையே என்பது நிச்சயம். (சேலா)

5. Beholde, thou hast made my dayes as an hand breadth, and mine age as nothing in respect of thee: surely euery man in his best state is altogether vanitie. Selah.

6. வேஷமாகவே மனுஷன் திரிகிறான்; விருதாவாகவே சஞ்சலப்படுகிறான்; ஆஸ்தியைச் சேர்க்கிறான். யார் அதை வாரிக்கொள்ளுவான் என்று அறியான்.

6. Doubtlesse man walketh in a shadowe, and disquieteth himselfe in vaine: he heapeth vp riches, and cannot tell who shall gather them.

7. இப்போதும் ஆண்டவரே, நான் எதற்கு எதிர்பார்த்திருக்கிறேன்? நீரே என் நம்பிக்கை.

7. And now Lord, what wait I for? mine hope is euen in thee.

8. என் மீறுதல்கள் எல்லாவற்றிலுமிருந்து என்னை விடுதலையாக்கும், மூடனுடைய நிந்தனைக்கு என்னை ஒப்புக்கொடாதேயும்.

8. Deliuer me from all my transgressions, and make me not a rebuke vnto the foolish.

9. நீரே இதைச் செய்தீர் என்று நான் என் வாயைத் திறவாமல் மவுனமாயிருந்தேன்.

9. I should haue bene dumme, and not haue opened my mouth, because thou didest it.

10. என்னிலிருந்து உம்முடைய வாதையை எடுத்துப்போடும்; உமது கரத்தின் அடிகளால் நான் சோர்ந்து போனேன்.

10. Take thy plague away from mee: for I am consumed by the stroke of thine hand.

11. அக்கிரமத்தினிமித்தம் நீர் மனுஷனைக் கடிந்துகொண்டு தண்டிக்கிறபோது, அவன் வடிவைப் பொட்டரிப்பைப்போல் அழியப்பண்ணுகிறீர்; நிச்சயமாக எந்த மனுஷனும் மாயையே. (சேலா)

11. When thou with rebukes doest chastise man for iniquitie, thou as a mothe makest his beautie to consume: surely euery man is vanitie. Selah.

12. கர்த்தாவே, என் ஜெபத்தைக் கேட்டு, என் கூப்பிடுதலுக்குச் செவிகொடும்; என் கண்ணீருக்கு மவுனமாயிராதேயும்; என் பிதாக்களெல்லாரையும்போல நானும் உமக்குமுன்பாக அந்நியனும் பரதேசியுமாயிருக்கிறேன்.

12. Heare my prayer, O Lord, and hearken vnto my cry: keepe not silence at my teares, for I am a strager with thee, and a soiourner as all my fathers.

13. நான் இனி இராமற்போகுமுன்னே, தேறுதலடையும்படி என்னிடத்தில் பொறுமையாயிரும்.

13. Stay thine anger from me, that I may recouer my strength, before I go hence and be not.
