1. வானங்கள் தேவனுடைய மகிமையை வெளிப்படுத்துகின்றன, ஆகாய விரிவு அவருடைய கரங்களின் கிரியையை அறிவிக்கிறது.

1. To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. THE HEAVENS declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows and proclaims His handiwork. [Rom. 1:20, 21.]

2. பகலுக்குப் பகல் வார்த்தைகளைப் பொழிகிறது, இரவுக்கு இரவு அறிவைத் தெரிவிக்கிறது.

2. Day after day pours forth speech, and night after night shows forth knowledge.

3. அவைகளுக்குப் பேச்சுமில்லை, வார்த்தையுமில்லை, அவைகளின் சத்தம் கேட்கப்படுவதுமில்லை.

3. There is no speech nor spoken word [from the stars]; their voice is not heard.

4. Yet their voice [in evidence] goes out through all the earth, their sayings to the end of the world. Of the heavens has God made a tent for the sun, [Rom. 10:18.]

5. அது தன் மணவறையிலிருந்து புறப்படுகிற மணவாளனைப்போல் இருக்கிறது, பராக்கிரமசாலியைப்போல் தன் பாதையில் ஓட மகிழ்ச்சியாயிருக்கிறது.

5. Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber; and it rejoices as a strong man to run his course.

6. அது வானங்களின் ஒரு முனையிலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு, அவைகளின் மறுமுனைவரைக்கும் சுற்றியோடுகிறது; அதின் வெம்மைக்கு மறைவானது ஒன்றுமில்லை.

6. Its going forth is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the ends of it; and nothing [yes, no one] is hidden from the heat of it.

7. கர்த்தருடைய வேதம் குறைவற்றதும், ஆத்துமாவை உயிர்ப்பிக்கிறதுமாயிருக்கிறது; கர்த்தருடைய சாட்சி முழுமையானதும், பேதையை ஞானியாக்குகிறதுமாயிருக்கிறது.

7. The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the [whole] person; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.

8. கர்த்தருடைய நியாயங்கள் செம்மையும், இருதயத்தைச் சந்தோஷிப்பிக்கிறவையுமாய் இருக்கிறது; கர்த்தருடைய கற்பனை தூய்மையும், கண்களைத் தெளிவிக்கிறதுமாய் இருக்கிறது.

8. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is pure and bright, enlightening the eyes.

9. கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிற பயம் சுத்தமும், என்றைக்கும் நிலைக்கிறதுமாயிருக்கிறது; கர்த்தருடைய நியாயங்கள் உண்மையும், அவைகள் அனைத்தும் நீதியுமாய் இருக்கின்றன.

9. The [reverent] fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

10. அவை பொன்னிலும், மிகுந்த பசும்பொன்னிலும் விரும்பப்படத்தக்கவையும், தேனிலும் தேன்கூட்டிலிருந்து ஒழுகும் தெளிதேனிலும் மதுரமுள்ளவையுமாய் இருக்கின்றன.

10. More to be desired are they than gold, even than much fine gold; they are sweeter also than honey and drippings from the honeycomb.

11. அன்றியும் அவைகளால் உமது அடியேன் எச்சரிக்கப்படுகிறேன்; அவைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறதினால் மிகுந்த பலன் உண்டு.

11. Moreover, by them is Your servant warned (reminded, illuminated, and instructed); and in keeping them there is great reward.

12. தன் பிழைகளை உணருகிறவன் யார்? மறைந்து கிடக்கும் பிழைகளிலிருந்து என்னைச் சுத்திகரியும்.

12. Who can discern his lapses and errors? Clear me from hidden [and unconscious] faults.

13. துணிகரமான பாவங்களுக்கும் உமது அடியேனை விலக்கிக்காரும்; அவைகள் என்னை ஆண்டுகொள்ள ஒட்டாதிரும்; அப்பொழுது நான் உத்தமனாகி, பெரும்பாதகத்துக்கு நீங்கலாயிருப்பேன்.

13. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then shall I be blameless, and I shall be innocent and clear of great transgression.

14. என் கன்மலையும் என் மீட்பருமாகிய கர்த்தாவே, என் வாயின் வார்த்தைகளும், என் இருதயத்தின் தியானமும், உமது சமுகத்துக்குப் பிரியமாய் இருப்பதாக.

14. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [firm, impenetrable] Rock and my Redeemer.
