1. கர்த்தாவே, ஏன் தூரத்தில் நிற்கிறீர்? துன்பம் நேரிடுகிற சமயங்களில் நீர் ஏன் மறைந்திருக்கிறீர்?

1. Wherefore, O Yahweh, shouldst thou stand afar off? Wherefore hide thyself, in times of destitution?

2. துன்மார்க்கன் தன் பெருமையினால் சிறுமைப்பட்டவனைக் கடூரமாய்த் துன்பப்படுத்துகிறான்; அவர்கள் நினைத்த சதிமோசங்களில் அவர்களே அகப்படுவார்கள்.

2. In the pride of the lawless one, he hotly pursueth the poor, let them be caught in the plots which they have devised!

3. துன்மார்க்கன் தன் உள்ளத்தின் இச்சையில் பெருமை பாராட்டுகிறான், பொருளை அபகரிக்கிறவன் கர்த்தரைச் சபித்து அசட்டைபண்ணுகிறான்.

3. For the lawless one hath boasted over the longing of his soul, and, the robber, hath blasphemed Yahweh.

4. துன்மார்க்கன் தன் கர்வத்தினால் தேவனைத் தேடான்; அவன் நினைவுகளெல்லாம் தேவன் இல்லை என்பதே.

4. The lawless one, in the loftiness of his countenance, will not enquire, God is not in any of his plots:

5. அவன் வழிகள் எப்போதும் கேடுள்ளவைகள்; உம்முடைய நியாயத்தீர்ப்புகள் அவன் பார்வைக்கு எட்டாமல் மிகவும் உயரமாயிருக்கின்றன; தன் எதிராளிகள் எல்லார்மேலும் சீறுகிறான்.

5. His ways are firm at all times, On high, are thy righteous regulations, out of his sight, As for all his adversaries, he puffeth at them:

6. "நான் அசைக்கப்படுவதில்லை, தலைமுறை தலைமுறைதோறும் தீங்கு என்னை அணுகுவதில்லை" என்று தன் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லிக்கொள்ளுகிறான்.

6. He hath said in his heart, I shall not be shaken, From generation to generation, shall I be in no misfortune.

7. அவன் வாய் சபிப்பினாலும் கபடத்தினாலும் கொடுமையினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது; அவன் நாவின்கீழ் தீவினையும் அக்கிரமமும் உண்டு.

7. With cursing, his mouth is full, and with deceptions and oppression, Under his tongue, are trouble and mischief:

8. கிராமங்களின் ஒளிப்பிடங்களிலே பதிவிருந்து, மறைவிடங்களிலே குற்றமற்றவனைக் கொல்லுகிறான்; திக்கற்றவர்களைப் பிடிக்க அவன் கண்கள் நோக்கிக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.

8. He abideth in the lurking-place of villages, In the hiding-places, he murdereth the innocent, His eyes, for the unfortunate, are on the watch:

9. தன் கெபியிலிருக்கிற சிங்கத்தைப்போல மறைவில் பதிவிருக்கிறான்; ஏழையைப் பிடிக்கப் பதிவிருந்து, அவனைத் தன் வலைக்குள் இழுத்துப் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளுகிறான்.

9. He lieth in wait in a hiding-place, like a lion in his covert, He lieth in wait to catch the humbled, He catcheth the humbled, by drawing him into his net:

10. திக்கற்றவர்கள் தன் பலவான்கள் கையில் விழும்படி அவன் பதுங்கிக் கிடக்கிறான்.

10. He croucheth, he lieth down, then falleth he with his strong claws upon the unfortunate.

11. " தேவன் அதை மறந்தார் என்று, அவர் தம்முடைய முகத்தை மறைத்து, ஒருக்காலும் அதைக் காணமாட்டார்" என்றும், தன் இருதயத்திலே சொல்லிகொள்ளுகிறான்.

11. He hath said in his heart, GOD hath forgotten, He hath veiled his face, Oh he hath never seen!

12. கர்த்தாவே, எழுந்தருளும்; தேவனே, உம்முடைய கையை உயர்த்தும்; சிறுமைப்பட்டவர்களை மறவாதேயும்.

12. Arise! Yahweh! O GOD! raise thy hand, Do not forget the patient!

13. துன்மார்க்கன் தேவனை அசட்டைபண்ணி, "நீர் கேட்டு விசாரிப்பதில்லை" என்று தன் இருதயத்தில் சொல்லிக்கொள்வானேன்?

13. Wherefore hath the lawless one blasphemed God? He hath said in his heart, Thou wilt not require it !

14. அதைப் பார்த்திருக்கிறீரே! உபத்திரவத்தையும் குரோதத்தையும் கவனித்திருக்கிறீரே; நீர் பதிலளிப்பீர்; ஏழையானவன் தன்னை உமக்கு ஒப்புவிக்கிறான்; திக்கற்ற பிள்ளைகளுக்குச் சகாயர் நீரே.

14. Thou hast seen! For, thou, mischief and misery, dost discern, to requite with thine own hand, Unto thee, doth, the unfortunate one, give himself up, To the fatherless, thou thyself, hast become a helper.

15. துன்மார்க்கனும் பொல்லாதவனுமாயிருக்கிறவனுடைய புயத்தை முறித்துவிடும்; அவனுடைய துன்மார்கம் காணாமற்போகுமட்டும் அதைத் தேடி விசாரியும்.

15. Shatter thou the arm of the lawless one, And, as for the wrongful, wilt thou not enquire for his lawlessness wilt thou not find it ?

16. கர்த்தர் சதாகாலங்களுக்கும் இராஜாவாயிருக்கிறார்; புறஜாதியார் அவருடைய தேசத்திலிருந்து அழிந்து போவார்கள்.

16. Yahweh, is king, to times age-abiding and beyond, The nations have perished out of his land.

17. கர்த்தாவே, சிறுமைப்பட்டவர்களுடைய வேண்டுதலைக் கேட்டிருக்கிறீர்; அவர்கள் இருதயத்தை ஸ்திரப்படுத்துவீர்.

17. The longing of the patient, thou hast heard, O Yahweh, Thou wilt establish their heart, Thou wilt make attentive thine ear:

18. மண்ணான மனுஷன் இனிப் பலவந்தஞ்செய்யத் தொடராதபடிக்கு, தேவரீர் திக்கற்ற பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் ஒடுக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கும் நீதிசெய்ய உம்முடைய செவியைச் சாய்த்துக் கேட்டருளுவீர்.

18. To vindicate the fatherless and the crushed, A man of the earth, shall, no further, cause terror!
