1. இப்போது கூப்பிடும், உமக்கு உத்தரவு கொடுப்பார் உண்டோ பார்ப்போம்? பரிசுத்தவான்களில் யாரை நோக்கிப் பார்ப்பீர்?

1. Call now, if there shall be anyone to answer thee; and if there shall be any of the saints for thee to look unto?

2. கோபம் நிர்மூடனைக் கொல்லும்; பொறாமை புத்தியில்லாதவனை அதம்பண்ணும்.

2. It is certain that wrath kills the foolish man, and envy consumes the covetous one.

3. நிர்மூடன் ஒருவன் வேரூன்றுகிறதை நான் கண்டு உடனே அவன் வாசஸ்தலத்தைச் சபித்தேன்.

3. I have seen the foolish taking root, but at the same time I cursed his habitation.

4. அவன் பிள்ளைகள் இரட்சிப்புக்குத் தூரமாகி, தப்புவிப்பாரில்லாமல், வாசலிலே நொறுக்கப்பட்டார்கள்.

4. His sons are far from saving health, and they shall be crushed in the gate, and there shall be no one to deliver [them].

5. பசித்தவன் அவன் விளைச்சலை முட்செடிகளுக்குள்ளுமிருந்து பறித்துத் தின்றான்; பறிகாரன் அவன் ஆஸ்தியை விழுங்கினான்.

5. The hungry shall eat up his harvest, and even take it out from among the thorns, and the thirsty shall drink up their substance.

6. தீங்கு புழுதியிலிருந்து உண்டாகிறதுமில்லை; வருத்தம் மண்ணிலிருந்து முளைக்கிறதுமில்லை.

6. For the iniquity does not come forth out of the dust; neither does chastisement spring up out of the ground;

7. அக்கினிப்பொறிகள் மேலே பறக்கிறதுபோல, மனுஷன் வருத்தம் அநுபவிக்கப் பிறந்திருக்கிறான்.

7. yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

8. ஆனாலும் நான் தேவனை நாடி, என் நியாயத்தை தேவனிடத்தில் ஒப்புவிப்பேன்.

8. I would certainly seek God, and unto God would I commit my affairs;

9. ஆராய்ந்து முடியாத பெரிய காரியங்களையும், எண்ணிமுடியாத அதிசயங்களையும் அவர் செய்கிறார்.

9. who does great things that no one can understand, and marvels that have no explanation;

10. தாழ்ந்தவர்களை உயரத்தில் வைத்து, துக்கிக்கிறவர்களை இரட்சித்து உயர்த்துகிறார்.

10. who gives rain upon the earth and sends waters abroad;

11. அவர் பூமியின்மேல் மழையை வருஷிக்கப்பண்ணி, வெளிநிலங்களின்மேல் தண்ணீர்களை வருவிக்கிறார்.

11. who sets up the humble on high, that those who mourn may be lifted up with saving health.

12. தந்திரக்காரரின் கைகள் காரியத்தை முடிய நடத்தக்கூடாதபடிக்கு, அவர்களுடைய உபாயங்களை அவர் அபத்தமாக்குகிறார்.

12. He frustrates the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform [their] enterprise.

13. அவர் ஞானிகளை அவர்களுடைய தந்திரத்திலே பிடிக்கிறார்; திரியாவரக்காரரின் ஆலோசனை கவிழ்க்கப்படும்.

13. He takes the wise in their own prudence, and the counsel of his adversaries is turned to folly.

14. அவர்கள் பகற்காலத்திலே அந்தகாரத்துக்குள்ளாகி, மத்தியான வேளையிலே இரவில் தடவுகிறதுபோல தடவித் திரிகிறார்கள்.

14. They meet with darkness in the daytime and grope in the noonday as in the night.

15. ஆனாலும் எளியவனை அவர்கள் வாயிலிருக்கிற பட்டயத்துக்கும், பெலவானின் கைக்கும் விலக்கி இரட்சிக்கிறார்.

15. But he saves the poor from the sword, from the mouth of the wicked, and from the hand of the violent.

16. அதினால் தரித்திரனுக்கு நம்பிக்கை உண்டு; தீமையானது தன் வாயை மூடும்.

16. Who is the hope of the poor, and iniquity closes her mouth.

17. இதோ, தேவன் தண்டிக்கிற மனுஷன் பாக்கியவான்; ஆகையால் சர்வவல்லவருடைய சிட்சையை அற்பமாக எண்ணாதிரும்.

17. Behold, blessed [is] the man whom God chastens; therefore, do not despise not the correction of the Almighty.

18. அவர் காயப்படுத்திக் காயங்கட்டுகிறார்; அவர் அடிக்கிறார், அவருடைய கை ஆற்றுகிறது.

18. For he makes sore, and binds up; he wounds, and his hands make whole.

19. ஆறு இக்கட்டுகளுக்கு உம்மை நீங்கலாக்குவார்; ஏழாவதிலும் பொல்லாப்பு உம்மைத் தொடாது.

19. He shall deliver thee in six tribulations, and in the seventh no evil shall touch thee.

20. பஞ்சகாலத்திலே அவர் உம்மை மரணத்துக்கும், யுத்தத்திலே பட்டயத்தின் வெட்டுக்கும் விலக்கி மீட்பார்.

20. In famine he shall ransom thee from death, and in war from the power of the sword.

21. நாவின் சவுக்குக்கும் மறைக்கப்படுவீர்; பாழாக்குதல் வரும்போதும் பயப்படாமலிருப்பீர்.

21. Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue; neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it comes.

22. பாழாக்குதலையும் பஞ்சத்தையும் பார்த்து நகைப்பீர்; காட்டுமிருகங்களுக்கும் பயப்படாமலிருப்பீர்.

22. At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh; neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth;

23. வெளியின் கல்லுகளோடும் உமக்கு உடன்படிக்கையிருக்கும்; வெளியின் மிருகங்களும் உம்மோடே சமாதானமாயிருக்கும்.

23. for thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

24. உம்முடைய கூடாரம் சமாதானத்தோடிருக்கக் காண்பீர்; உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தை விசாரிக்கும்போது குறைவைக் காணமாட்டீர்.

24. And thou shalt know that there is peace in thy tent, and thou shalt visit thy habitation and shalt not sin.

25. உம்முடைய சந்தானம் பெருகி, உம்முடைய சந்ததியார் பூமியின் பூண்டுகளைப்போல இருப்பார்கள் என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்வீர்.

25. Thou shalt know that thy seed [is] great and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.

26. தானியம் ஏற்றகாலத்திலே அம்பாரத்தில் சேருகிறதுபோல, முதிர்வயதிலே கல்லறையில் சேருவீர்.

26. Thou shalt come to [thy] grave in a full age, like a shock [of wheat] that is gathered in its season.

27. இதோ, நாங்கள் ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்தது இதுதான்; காரியம் இப்படியிருக்கிறது; இதை நீர் கேட்டு உமக்கு நன்மையுண்டாக அறிந்துகொள்ளும் என்றான்.

27. Behold that which we have searched out, so it [is]; hear it and judge [it] for thyself.:
