2. அறிவில்லாத வார்த்தைகளினால் ஆலோசனையை அந்தகாரப்படுத்துகிற இவன் யார்?

2. Who is this that darkens counsel by words without knowledge?

3. இப்போதும் புருஷனைப்போல் இடைகட்டிக்கொள்; நான் உன்னைக்கேட்பேன்; நீ எனக்கு உத்தரவு சொல்லு.

3. Gird up now thy loins like a man, for I will demand of thee, and declare thou to me.

4. நான் பூமியை அஸ்திபாரப்படுத்துகிறபோது நீ எங்கேயிருந்தாய்? நீ அறிவாளியானால் அதை அறிவி.

4. Where were thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? Declare, if thou have understanding.

5. அதற்கு அளவு குறித்தவர் யார்? அதின்மேல் நூல்போட்டவர் யார்? இதை நீ அறிந்திருந்தால் சொல்லு.

5. Who determined the measures of it, if thou know? Or who stretched the line upon it?

6. Upon what were the foundations of it fastened? Or who laid the corner-stone of it

7. அப்பொழுது விடியற்காலத்து நட்சத்திரங்கள் ஏகமாய்ப்பாடி, தேவபுத்திரர் எல்லாரும் கெம்பீரித்தார்களே.

7. when the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

8. கர்ப்பத்திலிருந்து உதிக்கிறதுபோல் சமுத்திரம் புரண்டுவந்தபோது, அதைக் கதவுகளால் அடைத்தவர் யார்?

8. Or who shut up the sea with doors when it broke forth, like it had issued out of the womb,

9. மேகத்தை அதற்கு வஸ்திரமாகவும், இருளை அதற்குப் புடவையாகவும் நான் உடுத்தினபோதும்,

9. when I made clouds the garment of it, and thick darkness a swaddling-band for it,

10. நான் அதற்கு எல்லையைக் குறித்து, அதற்குத் தாழ்ப்பாள்களையும் கதவுகளையும் போட்டு:

10. and marked out for it my bound, and set bars and doors,

11. இம்மட்டும் வா, மிஞ்சி வராதே; உன் அலைகளின் பெருமை இங்கே அடங்கக்கடவது என்று நான் சொல்லுகிறபோதும் நீ எங்கேயிருந்தாய்?

11. and said, This far thou shall come, but no further, and here thy proud waves shall be stayed?

12. துஷ்டர்கள் பூமியிலிருந்து உதறிப்போடப்படும்படிக்கு, அதின் கடையாந்தரங்களைப் பிடிக்கும்பொருட்டு,

12. Have thou commanded the morning since thy days began, and caused the dayspring to know its place

13. உன் ஜீவகாலத்தில் எப்போதாவது நீ விடியற்காலத்துக்குக் கட்டளை கொடுத்து, அருணோதயத்துக்கு அதின் இடத்தைக் காண்பித்ததுண்டோ?

13. that it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?

14. பூமி முத்திரையிடப்பட்ட களிமண்போல் வேறே ரூபங்கொள்ளும்; சகலமும் வஸ்திரம் தரித்திருக்கிறது போல் காணப்படும்.

14. It is changed as clay under the seal, and all things stand forth as a garment.

15. துன்மார்க்கரின் ஒளி அவர்களை விட்டு எடுபடும்; மேட்டிமையான புயம் முறிக்கப்படும்.

15. And from the wicked their light is withheld, and the high arm is broken.

16. நீ சமுத்திரத்தின் அடித்தலங்கள்மட்டும் புகுந்து, ஆழத்தின் அடியில் உலாவினதுண்டோ?

16. Have thou entered into the springs of the sea? Or have thou walked in the recesses of the deep?

17. மரணவாசல்கள் உனக்குத் திறந்ததுண்டோ? மரண இருளின் வாசல்களை நீ பார்த்ததுண்டோ?

17. Have the gates of death been revealed to thee? Or have thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?

18. நீ பூமியின் விசாலங்களை ஆராய்ந்து அறிந்ததுண்டோ? இவைகளையெல்லாம் நீ அறிந்திருந்தால் சொல்லு.

18. Have thou comprehended the earth in its breadth? Declare, if thou know it all.

19. வெளிச்சம் வாசமாயிருக்கும் இடத்துக்கு வழியெங்கே? இருள் குடிகொண்டிருக்கும் ஸ்தானமெங்கே?

19. Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And as for darkness, where is the place of it

20. அதின் எல்லை இன்னதென்று உனக்குத் தெரியுமோ? அதின் வீட்டுக்குப்போகிற பாதையை அறிந்திருக்கிறாயோ?

20. that thou should take it to the bound of it, and that thou should discern the paths to the house of it?

21. நீ அதை அறியும்படி அப்போது பிறந்திருந்தாயோ? உன் நாட்களின் தொகை அவ்வளவு பெரிதோ?

21. Thou know, for thou were born then, and the number of thy days is great!

22. உறைந்த மழையின் பண்டசாலைகளுக்குள் நீ பிரவேசித்தாயோ? கல்மழையிலிருக்கிற பண்டசாலைகளைப் பார்த்தாயோ?

22. Have thou entered the treasuries of the snow, or have thou seen the treasures of the hail,

23. ஆபத்து வருங்காலத்திலும், கலகமும் யுத்தமும் வருங்காலத்திலும், பிரயோகிக்கும்படி நான் அவைகளை வைத்துவைத்திருக்கிறேன்.

23. which I have reserved against the time of trouble, against the day of battle and war?

24. வெளிச்சம் பரவப்படுகிறதற்கும், கீழ்காற்று பூமியின்மேல் வீசுகிறதற்குமான வழி எங்கே?

24. By what way is the light divided, or the east wind scattered upon the earth?

25. பாழும் அந்தரவெளியுமான தரையைத் திருப்தியாக்கி, இளம்பூண்டுகளின் முளைகளை முளைக்கப்பண்ணும்படி,

25. Who has cleft a channel for the water flood, or the way for the lightning of the thunder,

26. பூமியெங்கும் மனுஷர் குடியில்லாத இடத்திலும், மனுஷசஞ்சாரமில்லாத வனாந்தரத்திலும் மழையை வருஷிக்கப்பண்ணி,

26. to cause it to rain on a land where no man is, on the wilderness, in which there is no man,

27. வெள்ளத்துக்கு நீர்க்கால்களையும், இடிமுழக்கங்களோடு வரும் மின்னலுக்கு வழிகளையும் பகுத்தவர் யார்?

27. to satisfy the waste and desolate ground, and to cause the tender grass to spring forth?

28. மழைக்கு ஒரு தகப்பனுண்டோ? பனித்துளிகளை ஜநிப்பித்தவர் யார்?

28. Has the rain a father? Or who has begotten the drops of dew?

29. உறைந்த தண்ணீர் யாருடைய வயிற்றிலிருந்து புறப்படுகிறது? ஆகாயத்தினுடைய உறைந்த பனியைப் பெற்றவர் யார்?

29. Out of whose womb came the ice? And the hoary frost of heaven, who has engendered it?

30. ஜலம் கல்லுருவங்கொண்டு மறைந்து, ஆழத்தின் முகம் கெட்டியாய் உறைந்திருக்கிறதே.

30. The waters hide themselves and become like stone, and the face of the deep is frozen.

31. அறுமீன் நட்சத்திரத்தின் சுகிர்த சம்பந்தத்தை நீ இணைக்கக்கூடுமோ? அல்லது மிருகசீரிஷத்தின் கட்டுகளை அவிழ்ப்பாயோ?

31. Can thou bind the cluster of the Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?

32. இராசிகளை அதினதின் காலத்திலே வரப்பண்ணுவாயோ? துருவச்சக்கர நட்சத்திரத்தையும் அதைச் சேர்ந்த நட்சத்திரங்களையும் வழிநடத்துவாயோ?

32. Can thou lead forth the Mazzaroth in their season? Or can thou guide the Bear with her train?

33. வானத்தின் நியமங்களை நீ அறிவாயோ? அது பூமியையாளும் ஆளுகையை நீ திட்டம்பண்ணுவாயோ?

33. Do thou know the ordinances of the heavens? Can thou establish the dominion of it on the earth?

34. ஏராளமான தண்ணீர் உன்மேல் சொரியவேணும் என்று உன் சத்தத்தை மேகங்கள் பரியந்தம் உயர்த்துவாயோ?

34. Can thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that abundance of waters may cover thee?

35. நீ மின்னல்களை அழைத்தனுப்பி, அவைகள் புறப்பட்டுவந்து: இதோ, இங்கேயிருக்கிறோம் என்று உனக்குச் சொல்லும்படி செய்வாயோ?

35. Can thou send forth lightnings, that they may go, and say to thee, Here we are?

36. அந்தக்கரணங்களில் ஞானத்தை வைத்தவர் யார்? உள்ளத்தில் புத்தியைக் கொடுத்தவர் யார்?

36. Who has put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who has given understanding to the mind?

37. ஞானத்தினாலே கொடிமாசிகளை எண்ணுபவர் யார்?

37. Who can number the clouds by wisdom? Or who can pour out the bottles of heaven

38. தூளானது ஏகபாளமாகவும், மண்கட்டிகள் ஒன்றோடொன்று ஒட்டிக்கொள்ளவும், ஆகாயத்துருத்திகளிலுள்ள தண்ணீரைப் பொழியப்பண்ணுகிறவர் யார்?

38. when the dust runs into a mass, and the clods cleave fast together?

39. நீ சிங்கத்துக்கு இரையை வேட்டையாடி,

39. Can thou hunt the prey for the lioness, or satisfy the appetite of the young lions

40. சிங்கக்குட்டிகள் தாங்கள் தங்கும் இடங்களிலே கிடந்து கெபியிலே பதிவிருக்கிறபோது, அவைகளின் ஆசையைத் திருப்தியாக்குவாயோ?

40. when they couch in their dens, and abide in the covert to lie in wait?

41. காக்கைக்குஞ்சுகள் தேவனை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு, ஆகாரமில்லாமல் பறந்து அலைகிறபோது, அவைகளுக்கு இரையைச் சவதரித்துக் கொடுக்கிறவர் யார்?

41. Who provides for the raven his prey when his young ones cry to God, and wander for lack of food?
