1. அதற்குப்பின்பு யோபு தன் வாயைத்திறந்து, தான் பிறந்த நாளைச் சபித்து,

1. Then, opening his mouth, and cursing the day of his birth,

2. வசனித்துச் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்:

2. Job made answer and said,

3. நான் பிறந்தநாளும் ஒரு ஆண்பிள்ளை உற்பத்தியாயிற்றென்று சொல்லப்பட்ட இராத்திரியும் அழிவதாக.

3. Let destruction take the day of my birth, and the night on which it was said, A man child has come into the world.

4. அந்த நாள் அந்தகாரப்படுவதாக; தேவன் உயரத்திலிருந்து அதை விசாரியாமலும், ஒளி அதின்மேல் பிரகாசியாமலும்,

4. That day -- let it be dark; let not God take note of it from on high, and let not the light be shining on it;

5. அந்தகாரமும் மரணஇருளும் அதைக் கறைப்படுத்தி, மப்பு அதை மூடி, மந்தாரநாளின் பயங்கரங்கள் அதை அருக்களிப்பாக்குவதாக.

5. Let the dark and the black night take it for themselves; let it be covered with a cloud; let the dark shades of day send fear on it.

6. அந்த இராத்திரியை அந்தகாரம் பிடிப்பதாக; வருஷத்தின் நாட்களில் அது சந்தோஷப்படுகிற நாளாயிராமலும் மாதங்களின் கணக்கிலே அது வராமலும் போவதாக.

6. That night -- let the thick dark take it; let it not have joy among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months.

7. அந்த இராத்திரி தனிமையாயிருப்பதாக; அதிலே கெம்பீரசத்தம் இல்லாமற்போவதாக.

7. As for that night, let it have no fruit; let no voice of joy be sounded in it;

8. நாளைச் சபிக்கிறவர்களும், லிவியாதானை எழும்பப்பண்ணத்தக்கவர்களும், அதைச் சபிப்பார்களாக.

8. Let it be cursed by those who put a curse on the day; who are ready to make Leviathan awake.

9. அதின் அஸ்தமனகாலத்தில் தோன்றிய நட்சத்திரங்கள் இருண்டு, அது எதிர்பார்த்திருந்த வெளிச்சம் உண்டாகாமலும், விடியற்காலத்து வெளுப்பை அது காணாமலும் இருப்பதாக.

9. Let its morning stars be dark; let it be looking for light, but may it not have any; let it not see the eyes of the dawn.

10. நான் இருந்த கர்ப்பத்தின் வாசலை அது அடைக்காமலும், என் கண்கள் காண்கிற வருத்தத்தை மறைத்துவிடாமலும் இருந்ததே.

10. Because it did not keep the doors of my mother's body shut, so that trouble might be veiled from my eyes.

11. நான் கர்ப்பத்தில்தானே அழியாமலும், கர்ப்பத்திலிருந்து புறப்படுகிறபோதே சாகாமலும் போனதென்ன?

11. Why did death not take me when I came out of my mother's body, why did I not, when I came out, give up my last breath?

12. என்னை ஏந்திக்கொள்ள மடியும், நான் பாலுண்ண ஸ்தனங்களும் உண்டாயிருந்ததென்ன?

12. Why did the knees take me, or why the breasts that they might give me milk?

13. அப்படியில்லாதிருந்தால், அசையாமல்கிடந்து அமர்ந்திருந்து,

13. For then I might have gone to my rest in quiet, and in sleep have been in peace,

14. பாழ்நிலங்களில் தங்களுக்கு மாளிகையைக் கட்டின பூமியின் ராஜாக்களோடும் மந்திரிமார்களோடும்,

14. With kings and the wise ones of the earth, who put up great houses for themselves;

15. அல்லது, பொன்னை உடையவர்களும், தங்கள் வீடுகளை வெள்ளியினால் நிரப்பினவர்களுமான பிரபுக்களோடுங்கூட நான் இப்பொழுது தூங்கி இளைப்பாறுவேனே.

15. Or with rulers who had gold, and whose houses were full of silver;

16. அல்லது, வெளிப்படாத முதிராப்பிண்டம்போலவும், வெளிச்சத்தைக் காணாத சிசுக்கள்போலவும் இருப்பேனே.

16. Or as a child dead at birth I might never have come into existence; like young children who have not seen the light.

17. துன்மார்க்கருடைய தொந்தரவு அங்கே ஓய்ந்திருக்கிறது; பெலனற்று விடாய்த்துப்போனவர்கள் அங்கே இளைப்பாறுகிறார்கள்.

17. There the passions of the evil are over, and those whose strength has come to an end have rest.

18. கட்டுண்டிருந்தவர்கள் அங்கே ஏகமாக அமைந்திருக்கிறார்கள்; ஒடுக்குகிறவனுடைய சத்தம் அங்கே கேட்கப்படுகிறதில்லை.

18. There the prisoners are at peace together; the voice of the overseer comes not again to their ears.

19. சிறியவனும் பெரியவனும் அங்கே சரியாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; அடிமை தன் எஜமானுக்கு நீங்கலாயிருக்கிறான்.

19. The small and the great are there, and the servant is free from his master.

20. மரணத்துக்கு ஆசையாய்க் காத்திருந்து, புதையலைத் தேடுகிறதுபோல அதைத் தேடியும் அடையாமற்போகிறவர்களும்,

20. Why does he give light to him who is in trouble, and life to the bitter in soul;

21. பிரேதக்குழியைக் கண்டுபிடித்ததினால் மிகவும் களிகூர்ந்து,
வெளிப்படுத்தின விசேஷம் 9:6

21. To those whose desire is for death, but it comes not; who are searching for it more than for secret wealth;

22. அதற்காகச் சந்தோஷப்படுகிற நிர்ப்பாக்கியருமாகிய இவர்களுக்கு வெளிச்சமும், மனச்சஞ்சலமுள்ள இவர்களுக்கு ஜீவனும் கொடுக்கப்படுகிறதினால் பலன் என்ன?

22. Who are glad with great joy, and full of delight when they come to their last resting-place;

23. தன் வழியைக் காணக்கூடாதபடிக்கு, தேவனால் வளைந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவனுக்கு வெளிச்சத்தினால் பலன் என்ன?

23. To a man whose way is veiled, and who is shut in by God?

24. என் போஜனத்துக்கு முன்னே எனக்குப் பெருமூச்சு உண்டாகிறது; என் கதறுதல் வெள்ளம்போல் புரண்டுபோகிறது.

24. In place of my food I have grief, and cries of sorrow come from me like water.

25. நான் பயந்த காரியம் எனக்கு நேரிட்டது; நான் அஞ்சினது எனக்கு வந்தது.

25. For I have a fear and it comes on me, and my heart is greatly troubled.

26. எனக்குச் சுகமுமில்லை, இளைப்பாறுதலுமில்லை, அமைதலுமில்லை; எனக்குத் தத்தளிப்பே நேரிட்டது.

26. I have no peace, no quiet, and no rest; nothing but pain comes on me.
