2. ஒரு மனுஷன் விவேகியாயிருந்து, தனக்குத்தான் பிரயோஜனமாயிருக்கிறதினால் தேவனுக்குப் பிரயோஜனமாயிருப்பானோ?

2. 'Can a human be of advantage to God? Can even the wisest benefit him?

3. நீர் நீதிமானாயிருப்பதினால் சர்வவல்லவருக்கு நன்மையுண்டாகுமோ? நீர் உம்முடைய வழிகளை உத்தமமாக்குகிறது அவருக்கு ஆதாயமாயிருக்குமோ?

3. Does [Shaddai] gain if you are righteous? Does he profit if you make your ways blameless?

4. அவர் உமக்குப் பயந்து உம்மோடே வழக்காடி, உம்மோடே நியாயத்துக்கு வருவாரோ?

4. 'Is he rebuking you because you fear him? Is this why he enters into judgment with you?

5. உம்முடைய பொல்லாப்பு பெரியதும், உம்முடைய அக்கிரமங்கள் முடிவில்லாதவைகளுமாய் இருக்கிறதல்லவோ?

5. Isn't it because your wickedness is great? Aren't your iniquities endless?

6. முகாந்தரமில்லாமல் உம்முடைய சகோதரர் கையில் அடகுவாங்கி, ஏழைகளின் வஸ்திரங்களைப் பறித்துக்கொண்டீர்.

6. 'For you kept your kinsmen's goods as collateral for no reason, you stripped the poorly clothed of what clothing they have,

7. விடாய்த்தவனுக்குத் தாகத்துக்குத் தண்ணீர் கொடாமலும், பசித்தவனுக்கு போஜனம் கொடாமலும் போனீர்.

7. you didn't give water to the weary to drink, you withheld food from the hungry.

8. பலவானுக்கே தேசத்தில் இடமுண்டாயிற்று; கனவான் அதில் குடியேறினான்.

8. As a wealthy man, an owner of land, and as a man of rank, who lives on it,

9. விதவைகளை வெறுமையாய் அனுப்பிவிட்டீர்; தாய்தகப்பன் இல்லாதவர்களின் புயங்கள் முறிக்கப்பட்டது.

9. you sent widows away empty-handed and left the arms of orphans crushed.

10. ஆகையால் கண்ணிகள் உம்மைச் சூழ்ந்திருக்கிறது; அசுப்பிலே உமக்கு வந்த பயங்கரம் உம்மைக் கலங்கப்பண்ணுகிறது.

10. 'No wonder there are snares all around you, and sudden terror overwhelms you,

11. நீர் பார்க்கக்கூடாதபடிக்கு இருள் வந்தது, ஜலப்பிரவாகம் உம்மை மூடுகிறது.

11. or darkness, so that you can't see, and a flood of water that covers you up!

12. தேவன் பரலோகத்தின் உன்னதங்களிலிருக்கிறார் அல்லவோ? நட்சத்திரங்களின் உயரத்தைப் பாரும், அவைகள் எத்தனை உயரமாயிருக்கிறது.

12. 'Isn't God in the heights of heaven, looking [[down even]] on the highest stars?

13. நீர்: தேவன் எப்படி அறிவார், அந்தகாரத்துக்கு அப்புறத்திலிருக்கிறவர் நியாயம் விசாரிக்கக்கூடுமோ?

13. Yet you say, 'What does God know? Can he see through thick darkness to judge?

14. அவர் பாராதபடிக்கு மேகங்கள் அவருக்கு மறைவாயிருக்கிறது; பரமண்டலங்களின் சக்கரத்திலே அவர் உலாவுகிறார் என்று சொல்லுகிறீர்.

14. The clouds veil him off, so that he can't see; he just wanders around in heaven.'

15. அக்கிரம மாந்தர் பூர்வத்தில் நடந்த மார்க்கத்தைக் கவனித்துப் பார்த்தீரோ?

15. 'Are you going to keep to the old way, the one the wicked have trodden,

16. காலம் வருமுன்னே அவர்கள் வாடிப்போனார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய அஸ்திபாரத்தின்மேல் வெள்ளம் புரண்டது.

16. the ones snatched away before their time, whose foundations a flood swept away?

17. தேவன் அவர்கள் வீடுகளை நன்மையால் நிரப்பியிருந்தாலும், அவர்கள் அவரை நோக்கி: எங்களைவிட்டு விலகும், சர்வவல்லவராலே எங்களுக்கு என்ன ஆகும் என்றார்கள்.

17. They said to God, 'Leave us alone! What can [Shaddai] do to us?'

18. Yet he himself had filled their homes with good things! (But the advice of the wicked is far away from me.)

19. எங்கள் நிலைமை நிர்மூலமாகாமல், அவர்களுக்கு மீதியானதையோ அக்கினி பட்சித்ததென்பதை நீதிமான்கள் கண்டு சந்தோஷப்படுகிறார்கள்.

19. The righteous saw this and rejoiced; the innocent laughed them to scorn-

20. குற்றமில்லாதவன் அவர்களைப் பார்த்து நகைக்கிறான்.

20. 'Indeed, our substance has not been not cut off, but the fire has consumed their wealth.'

21. நீர் அவரோடே பழகி சமாதானமாயிரும்; அதினால் உமக்கு நன்மைவரும்.

21. 'Learn to be at peace with [[God]]; in this way good will come [[back]] to you.

22. அவர் வாயினின்று பிறந்த வேதப்பிரமாணத்தை ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு, அவர் வார்த்தைகளை உம்முடைய இருதயத்தில் வைத்துக்கொள்ள வேண்டுகிறேன்.

22. Please! Receive instruction from his mouth, and take his words to heart.

23. நீர் சர்வவல்லவரிடத்தில் மனந்திரும்பினால், திரும்பக் கட்டப்படுவீர்; அக்கிரமத்தை உமது கூடாரத்துக்குத் தூரமாக்குவீர்.

23. If you return to [Shaddai], you will be built up. If you drive wickedness far from your tents,

24. அப்பொழுது தூளைப்போல் பொன்னையும், ஆற்றுக் கற்களைப்போல் ஓப்பீரின் தங்கத்தையும் சேர்த்துவைப்பீர்.

24. if you lay your treasure down in the dust and the gold of Ofir among the rocks in the [vadi]s,

25. அப்பொழுது சர்வவல்லவர் தாமே உமக்குப் பசும்பொன்னும், உமக்குச் சொக்கவெள்ளியுமாயிருப்பார்.

25. and let [Shaddai] be your treasure and your sparkling silver;

26. அப்பொழுது சர்வவல்லவர்மேல் மனமகிழ்ச்சியாயிருந்து, தேவனுக்கு நேராக உம்முடைய முகத்தை ஏறெடுப்பீர்.

26. then [Shaddai] will be your delight, you will lift up your face to God;

27. நீர் அவரை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ண, அவர் உமக்குச் செவிகொடுப்பார்; அப்பொழுது நீர் உம்முடைய பொருத்தனைகளைச் செலுத்துவீர்.

27. you will entreat him, and he will hear you, and you will pay what you vowed;

28. நீர் ஒரு காரியத்தை நிருணயம்பண்ணினால், அது உமக்கு நிலைவரப்படும்; உம்முடைய பாதைகளில் வெளிச்சம் பிரகாசிக்கும்.

28. what you decide to do will succeed, and light will shine on your path;

29. மனுஷர் ஒடுக்கப்படும்போது திடப்படக்கடவர்கள் என்று நீர் சொல்ல, தாழ்ந்தோர் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.

29. when someone is brought down, you will say, 'It was pride, because [[God]] saves the humble.'

30. குற்றமற்றிராதவனையுங்கூடத் தப்புவிப்பார்; உம்முடைய கைகளின் சுத்தத்தினிமித்தம் அவன் தப்பிப்போவான் என்றான்.

30. 'He delivers even the unclean; so if your hands are clean, you will be delivered.'
