1. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பட்டணங்களிலே குடியேறி, ஏழாம் மாதமானபோது, ஜனங்கள் ஏகோபித்து எருசலேமிலே கூடினார்கள்.

1. And the seventh month came on, and the children of Israel [were] in their cities, and the people assembled as one man at Jerusalem.

2. அப்பொழுது யோசதாக்கின் குமாரனாகிய யெசுவாவும், அவன் சகோதரராகிய ஆசாரியரும், செயல்தியேலின் குமாரனாகிய செருபாபேலும், அவன் சகோதரரும் எழும்பி, தேவனுடைய மனிதனாகிய மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி சர்வாங்கதகனங்களைப் பலியிடும்படிக்கு, இஸ்ரவேலுடைய தேவனின் பலிபீடத்தைக் கட்டினார்கள்.

2. Then stood up Jeshua the [son] of Jozadak, and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the [son] of Shealtiel, and his brothers, and they built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer upon it whole burnt offerings, according to the things that were written in the law of Moses the man of God.

3. அவர்கள் அத்தேசத்தின் ஜனங்களுக்குப் பயந்ததினால், பலிபீடத்தை அதின் ஆதாரங்களின்மேல் ஸ்தாபித்து, அதின்மேல் அவர்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு அந்திசந்தி சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தினார்கள்.

3. And they set up the altar on its place, for there was a fear upon them because of the people of the land. And the whole burnt offerings was offered up upon it to the Lord morning and evening.

4. எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியே அவர்கள் கூடாரப்பண்டிகையை ஆசரித்து, நித்திய நியமத்தின்படியும் அன்றாடகக்கணக்கின்படியும் ஒவ்வொரு நாளிலும் பலியிட்டார்கள்.

4. And they kept the Feast of Tabernacles, according to that which was written, and [offered] whole burnt offerings daily, in number according to the ordinance, the exact daily rate.

5. அதற்குப்பின்பு நித்தமும், மாதப்பிறப்புகளிலும், கர்த்தருடைய சகல பரிசுத்த பண்டிகைகளிலும் செலுத்தும் சர்வாங்கதகனபலியையும், கர்த்தருக்கு அவரவர் செலுத்தும் உற்சாகபலியையும் செலுத்தினார்கள்.

5. And after this the perpetual whole burnt offering, and [offering] for the season of new moon, and for all the hallowed feasts to the Lord, and for everyone that offered a freewill offering to the Lord.

6. ஏழாம் மாதம் முதல்தேதியில் கர்த்தருக்குச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தத்தொடங்கினார்கள்; ஆனாலும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் அஸ்திபாரம் இன்னும் போடப்படவில்லை.

6. On the first day of the seventh month they began to offer whole burnt offerings to the Lord, but the foundation of the house of the Lord was not laid.

7. அப்பொழுது பெர்சியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய கோரேஸ் தங்களுக்குப் பிறப்பித்த உத்தரவின்படியே அவர்கள் கல்தச்சருக்கும் தச்சருக்கும் பணத்தையும், லீபனோனிலிருந்து கேதுருமரங்களைச் சமுத்திரவழியாய் யோபாமட்டும் கொண்டுவரச் சீதோனியருக்கும் தீரியருக்கும் போஜனபானத்தையும் எண்ணெயையும் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

7. And they gave money to the stone masons and carpenters, and food and drink, and oil, to the Sidonians, and Tyrians, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant of Cyrus king of the Persians to them.

8. அவர்கள் எருசலேமிலுள்ள தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்திற்கு வந்த இரண்டாம் வருஷம் இரண்டாம் மாதத்திலே, செயல்தியேலின் குமாரனாகிய செருபாபேலும், யோசதாக்கின் குமாரனாகிய யெசுவாவும், மற்றுமுள்ள அவர்கள் சகோதரராகிய ஆசாரியரும் லேவியரும், சிறையிருப்பிலிருந்து எருசலேமுக்கு வந்த அனைவரும், ஆரம்பஞ்செய்து, இருபதுவயதுமுதல் அதற்கு மேற்பட்ட லேவியரைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் வேலையை நடத்தும்படி வைத்தார்கள்.

8. And in the second year of their coming to the house of God in Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the [son] of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the [son] of Jozadak, and the rest of their brothers the priests and the Levites, and all who came from the captivity to Jerusalem, and they appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, over the workmen in the house of the Lord.

9. அப்படியே தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தின் வேலையைச் செய்கிறவர்களை நடத்தும்படி யெசுவாவும் அவன் குமாரரும் சகோதரரும், கத்மியேலும் அவன் குமாரரும், யூதாவின் குமாரரும், எனாதாத்தின் குமாரரும், அவர்கள் சகோதரராகிய லேவியரும் ஒருமனப்பட்டு நின்றார்கள்.

9. And Jeshua and his sons and brothers stood, [with] Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, over them that performed the works in the house of God; the sons of Henadad [with] their sons and their brothers the Levites.

10. சிற்பாசாரிகள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்கு அஸ்திபாரம்போடுகிறபோது, இஸ்ரவேல் ராஜாவாகிய தாவீதுடைய கட்டளையின்படியே, கர்த்தரைத் துதிக்கும்படிக்கு, வஸ்திரங்கள் தரிக்கப்பட்டு, பூரிகைகளை ஊதுகிற ஆசாரியரையும், தாளங்களைக் கொட்டுகிற ஆசாபின் குமாரராகிய லேவியரையும் நிறுத்தினார்கள்.

10. And they laid a foundation for building the house of the Lord; and the priests in their robes stood with trumpets and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, according to the order of David king of Israel.

11. கர்த்தர் நல்லவர், இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் அவருடைய கிருபை என்றுமுள்ளது என்று அவரைப் புகழ்ந்து துதிக்கையில், மாறிமாறிப் பாடினார்கள்; கர்த்தரைத் துதிக்கையில், ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் அஸ்திபாரம் போடப்படுகிறதினிமித்தம் மகா கெம்பீரமாய் ஆரவாரித்தார்கள்.

11. And they answered [each other] with praise and thanksgiving to the Lord, [saying], For [it is] good, for His mercy to Israel [endures] forever. And all the people shouted with a loud voice to praise the Lord at the laying the foundation of the house of the Lord.

12. முந்தின ஆலயத்தைக்கண்டிருந்த முதிர்வயதான ஆசாரியரிலும், லேவியரிலும், பிதாக்கள் வம்சங்களின் தலைவரிலும் அநேகர் இந்த ஆலயத்துக்குத் தங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக அஸ்திபாரம் போடப்படுகிறதைக் கண்டபோது, மகா சத்தமிட்டு அழுதார்கள்; வேறே அநேகம்பேரோ கெம்பீர சந்தோஷமாய் ஆர்ப்பரித்தார்கள்.

12. But many of the priests and the Levites, and the elder men, heads of families, who had seen the former house on its foundation, and [who saw] this house with their eyes, wept with a loud voice; but the multitude shouted with joy to raise a song.

13. ஜனங்கள் மகா கெம்பீரமாய் ஆர்ப்பரிக்கிறதினால் அவர்கள் சத்தம் வெகுதூரம் கேட்கப்பட்டது; ஆனாலும் சந்தோஷ ஆரவாரத்தின் சத்தம் இன்னதென்றும், ஜனங்களுடைய அழுகையின் சத்தம் இன்னதென்றும் பகுத்தறியக்கூடாதிருந்தது.

13. And the people did not distinguish the voice of the glad shout from the voice of the weeping of the people, for the people shouted with a loud voice, and the voice was heard even from afar off.
