1. அப்பொழுது சாலொமோன்: காரிருளிலே வாசம்பண்ணுவேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொன்னார் என்றும்,

1. Then Solomon said, 'The Lord has said that He would live in the thick cloud.

2. தேவரீர் வாசம்பண்ணத்தக்க வீடும், நீர் என்றைக்கும் தங்கத்தக்க நிலையான ஸ்தானமுமாகிய ஆலயத்தை உமக்குக் கட்டினேன் என்றும் சொல்லி,

2. I have built a great house for You. It is a place for You to live in forever.'

3. ராஜா முகம் திரும்பி, இஸ்ரவேல் சபையார் எல்லாரையும் ஆசீர்வதித்தான்; இஸ்ரவேல் சபையார் எல்லாரும் நின்றார்கள்.

3. Then the king turned around and prayed that good would come to all the people of Israel, while all the people of Israel stood.

4. அவன் சொன்னது: இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம்; அவர் என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுக்குத் தம்முடைய வாக்கினால் சொன்னதை, தம்முடைய கரத்தினால் நிறைவேற்றினார்.

4. Solomon said, 'Honor and thanks be to the Lord, the God of Israel. He spoke with His mouth to my father David. And He has kept His promises with His hands, saying,

5. அவர்: நான் என் ஜனத்தை எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின நாள்முதற்கொண்டு, என் நாமம் விளங்கும்படி, ஒரு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டவேண்டுமென்று நான் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லாக்கோத்திரங்களிலுமுள்ள வேறே யாதொரு பட்டணத்தைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமலும், என் ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் அதிபதியாயிருக்கும்படி வேறே ஒருவரைத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளாமலும்,

5. `Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the families of Israel in which to build a house for My name. I did not choose any man to be a leader over My people Israel.

6. என் நாமம் விளங்கும் ஸ்தானமாக எருசலேமையும், என் ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் அதிபதியாயிருக்கத் தாவீதையும் தெரிந்துகொண்டேன் என்றார்.

6. But I have chosen Jerusalem that My name might be there. And I have chosen David to rule My people Israel.'

7. இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் நாமத்திற்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டவேண்டும் என்கிற விருப்பம் என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் மனதில் இருந்தது.

7. Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

8. ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதை நோக்கி: என் நாமத்திற்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டவேண்டும் என்கிற விருப்பம் உன் மனதிலே இருந்தது நல்ல காரியந்தான்.

8. But the Lord said to my father David, `Because it was in your heart to build a house for My name, you did well that it was in your heart.

9. ஆகிலும் நீ அந்த ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டமாட்டாய்; உன் கர்ப்பப்பிறப்பாகிய உன் குமாரனே என் நாமத்திற்கு அந்த ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டுவான் என்றார்.

9. But you will not build the house. Your son who will be born to you will build the house for My name.'

10. இப்போதும் கர்த்தர் சொல்லிய தமது வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றினார்; கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடியே, நான் என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் ஸ்தானத்தில் எழும்பி, இஸ்ரவேலுடைய சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் உட்கார்ந்து, இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் நாமத்திற்கு ஆலயத்தைக் கட்டி,

10. Now the Lord has kept His promise which He made. For I have taken the place of my father David and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised. And I have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.

11. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடனே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கையிருக்கிற பெட்டியை அதிலே வைத்தேன் என்று சொல்லி,

11. There I have put the special box with the Law of the Lord which He gave to the people of Israel.'

12. கர்த்தருடைய பலிபீடத்திற்கு முன்னே இஸ்ரவேல் சபையார் எல்லாருக்கும் எதிராக நின்று தன் கைகளை விரித்தான்.

12. Then Solomon stood before the altar of the Lord, in front of all the people of Israel, and spread out his hands.

13. சாலொமோன் ஐந்து முழ நீளமும், ஐந்து முழ அகலமும், மூன்று முழ உயரமுமான ஒரு வெண்கலப் பிரசங்கபீடத்தை உண்டாக்கி, அதை நடுப்பிராகாரத்திலே வைத்திருந்தான்; அதின்மேல் அவன் நின்று, இஸ்ரவேலின் சபையார் எல்லாருக்கும் எதிராக முழங்காற்படியிட்டு, தன் கைகளை வானத்திற்கு நேராக விரித்து:

13. Solomon had made a special place to stand, out of brass. It was as long and as wide as three steps, and as high as a man's chest. And he had put it in the center of the open space. He stood on it, then got down on his knees in front of all the people of Israel, and spread out his hands toward heaven.

14. இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, வானத்திலும், பூமியிலும் உமக்கு ஒப்பான தேவனில்லை; தங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் உமக்கு முன்பாக நடக்கிற உமது அடியாருக்கு உடன்படிக்கையையும் கிருபையையும் காத்துவருகிறீர்.

14. He said, 'O Lord, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven or on earth. You keep Your promises and show loving-kindness to Your servants who walk with You with all their hearts.

15. தேவரீர் என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது என்னும் உமது அடியானுக்குச் செய்த வாக்குத்தத்தத்தைக் காத்தருளினீர்; உம்முடைய வாக்கினால் அதைச் சொன்னீர்; உம்முடைய கரத்தினால் அதை இந்நாளில் இருக்கிறபடி நிறைவேற்றினீர்.

15. You have kept Your promises to Your servant David my father. Yes, You have spoken with Your mouth, and have done all You said You would do, as it is today.

16. இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, தேவரீர் என் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீது என்னும் உமது அடியானை நோக்கி: நீ எனக்கு முன்பாக நடந்தது போல, உன் குமாரரும் என் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் நடக்கும்படி தங்கள் வழியைக் காப்பார்களேயானால், இஸ்ரவேலின் சிங்காசனத்தில் வீற்றிருக்கும் புருஷன் எனக்கு முன்பாக உனக்கு இல்லாமற்போவதில்லை என்று சொன்னதை இப்பொழுது அவனுக்கு நிறைவேற்றும்.

16. So now, O Lord, God of Israel, keep Your promise which You made to Your servant David my father, saying, `You will never be without a man to sit on the throne of Israel. But your sons must be careful to walk in My Law, as you have done.'

17. இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, தேவரீர் உமது அடியானாகிய தாவீதுக்குச் சொன்ன உம்முடைய வார்த்தை மெய் என்று விளங்குவதாக.

17. So now, O Lord, God of Israel, let Your Word be made sure which You have spoken to Your servant David.

18. தேவன் மெய்யாக மனுஷரோடே பூமியிலே வாசம்பண்ணுவாரோ? இதோ, வானங்களும், வானாதி வானங்களும் உம்மைக் கொள்ளாதே; நான் கட்டின இந்த ஆலயம் எம்மாத்திரம்?

18. But is it true that God will live with man on the earth? See, heaven and the highest heaven cannot hold You. How much less can this house hold You which I have built!

19. என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, உமது அடியேன் உமது சந்நிதியில் செய்கிற விண்ணப்பத்தையும் மன்றாட்டையும் கேட்டு, உமது அடியேனுடைய விண்ணப்பத்தையும் வேண்டுதலையும் திருவுளத்தில் கொண்டருளும்.

19. But respect the prayer of Your servant and what he asks of You, O Lord my God. Listen to the cry and to the prayer which Your servant prays to You.

20. உமது அடியேன் இவ்விடத்திலே செய்யும் விண்ணப்பத்தைக் கேட்க, என் நாமம் விளங்குமென்று நீர் சொன்ன ஸ்தலமாகிய இந்த ஆலயத்தின்மேல் உம்முடைய கண்கள் இரவும் பகலும் திறந்திருப்பதாக.

20. May Your eyes be open day and night toward this house, the place where You have promised to put Your name. Listen to the prayer which Your servant prays toward this place.

21. உமது அடியேனும், இந்த ஸ்தலத்திலே விண்ணப்பம் செய்யப்போகிற உமது ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலும் பண்ணும் ஜெபங்களைக் கேட்டருளும்; பரலோகமாகிய உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலத்திலே நீர் அதைக் கேட்பீராக, கேட்டு மன்னிப்பீராக.

21. Listen to what Your servant and Your people Israel ask for when they pray toward this place. Hear from the place where You live, from heaven. Hear and forgive.

22. ஒருவன் தன் அயலானுக்குக் குற்றம் செய்திருக்கையில், இவன் அவனை ஆணையிடச் சொல்லும்போது, அந்த ஆணை இந்த ஆலயத்திலே உம்முடைய பலிபீடத்திற்கு முன்பாக வந்தால்,

22. If a man sins against his neighbor, and has to make a promise, and he comes and makes a promise before Your altar in this house,

23. அப்பொழுது பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற தேவரீர் கேட்டு, துன்மார்க்கனுடைய நடக்கையை அவன் தலையின்மேல் சுமரப்பண்ணி, அவனுக்கு நீதியைச் சரிக்கட்டவும், நீதிமானுக்கு அவனுடைய நீதிக்குத்தக்கதாய்ச் செய்து அவனை நீதிமானாக்கவுந்தக்கதாய், உமது அடியாரை நியாயந்தீர்ப்பீராக.

23. then hear from heaven, and act. Judge Your servants. Punish the sinful by bringing his actions on his own head. And make it known that the one who is right and good is not guilty. Bring good to him because he is right and good.

24. உம்முடைய ஜனங்களாகிய இஸ்ரவேலர் உமக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்ததினிமித்தம் சத்துருவுக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்துபோய், உம்மிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பி, உம்முடைய நாமத்தை அறிக்கைபண்ணி, இந்த ஆலயத்திலே உம்முடைய சந்நிதியில் விண்ணப்பத்தையும் வேண்டுதலையும் செய்தால்,

24. If Your people Israel lose a battle against those who hate them, because they have sinned against You, and they return to You and tell of Your name, and pray and ask of You in this house,

25. பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற தேவரீர் கேட்டு, உம்முடைய ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலின் பாவத்தை மன்னித்து, அவர்களுக்கும் அவர்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கும் நீர் கொடுத்த தேசத்துக்கு அவர்களைத் திரும்பிவரப்பண்ணுவீராக.

25. then listen to them from heaven and forgive the sin of Your people Israel. Bring them back to the land You have given to them and to their fathers.

26. அவர்கள் உமக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்ததினால், வானம் அடைபட்டு மழை பெய்யாதிருக்கும்போது, அவர்கள் இந்த ஸ்தலத்திற்கு நேராக விண்ணப்பஞ்செய்து, உம்முடைய நாமத்தை அறிக்கைபண்ணி, தேவரீர் தங்களைக் கிலேசப்படுத்துகையில் தங்கள் பாவங்களை விட்டுத் திரும்பினால்,

26. When the heavens are shut up and give no rain because the people have sinned against You, and they pray toward this place and tell of Your name, and turn from their sin when You bring trouble to them,

27. பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற தேவரீர் கேட்டு, உமது அடியாரும் உமது ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலும் செய்த பாவத்தை மன்னித்து, அவர்கள் நடக்கவேண்டிய நல்வழியை அவர்களுக்குப் போதித்து, தேவரீர் உமது ஜனத்திற்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்த உம்முடைய தேசத்தில் மழைபெய்யக் கட்டளையிடுவீராக.

27. then hear in heaven and forgive the sin of Your servants and Your people Israel. Teach them the good way in which they should walk. And send rain on Your land which You have given to Your people.

28. தேசத்திலே பஞ்சம் உண்டாகிறபோதும், கொள்ளைநோய் உண்டாகிறபோதும், வறட்சி, சாவி, வெட்டுக்கிளி, பச்சைக்கிளி உண்டாகிறபோதும், அவர்களுடைய சத்துருக்கள் அவர்கள் வாசஞ்செய்கிற தேசத்திலே அவர்களை முற்றிக்கை போடுகிறபோதும், யாதொரு வாதையாகிலும் யாதொரு வியாதியாகிலும் வந்திருக்கிறபோதும்,

28. If there is a time of no food in the land, and if there is a disease that kills the plants, or if there are locusts or grasshoppers, if those who hate Your people send armies to trap them in their cities, whatever trouble or sickness there is,

29. எந்த மனுஷனானாலும், இஸ்ரவேலாகிய உம்முடைய ஜனத்தில் எவனானாலும், தன் தன் வாதையையும் வியாகுலத்தையும் உணர்ந்து, இந்த ஆலயத்திற்கு நேராகத் தன் கைகளை விரித்துச் செய்யும் சகல விண்ணப்பத்தையும், சகல வேண்டுதலையும்,

29. hear the prayer made by any man or by all Your people Israel. Each one will know his own trouble and his own pain. And when he spreads his hands toward this house,

30. உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலமாகிய பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற தேவரீர் கேட்டு மன்னித்து,

30. then hear from heaven where You live, and forgive. Give to each man what he should have. For You, and only You, know the hearts of men.

31. தேவரீர் எங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தில் அவர்கள் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாளெல்லாம் உமக்குப் பயப்பட்டு, உம்முடைய வழிகளில் நடக்கும்படிக்கு தேவரீர் ஒருவரே மனுப்புத்திரரின் இருதயத்தை அறிந்தவரானதால், நீர் அவனவன் இருதயத்தை அறிந்திருக்கிறபடியே அவனவனுடைய எல்லா வழிகளுக்கும் தக்கதாய்ச் செய்து பலன் அளிப்பீராக.

31. May they fear You and walk in Your ways as long as they live in the land You have given to our fathers.

32. உம்முடைய ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேல் ஜாதியல்லாத அந்நிய ஜாதியார் உம்முடைய மகத்துவமான நாமத்தினிமித்தமும், உம்முடைய பலத்த கரத்தினிமித்தமும், ஓங்கிய உம்முடைய புயத்தினிமித்தமும், தூரதேசங்களிலிருந்து வந்து, இந்த ஆலயத்துக்கு நேராக நின்று விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினால்,

32. If a stranger who is not from Your people Israel comes from a far country because of Your great name, Your powerful hand, and Your strong arm, when he comes and prays toward this house,

33. உமது வாசஸ்தலமாகிய பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற தேவரீர் அதைக் கேட்டு, பூமியின் ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் உம்முடைய ஜனமாகிய இஸ்ரவேலைப்போல, உம்முடைய நாமத்தை அறிந்து உமக்குப் பயப்பட்டு, நான் கட்டின இந்த ஆலயத்திற்கு உம்முடைய நாமம் தரிக்கப்பட்டதென்று அறியும்படிக்கு, அந்த அந்நிய ஜாதியான் உம்மை நோக்கி வேண்டிக்கொள்வதின்படியே தேவரீர் செய்வீராக.

33. hear from heaven where You live. Do all that the stranger asks of You. Then all the people of the earth may know Your name and honor You with fear, as Your people Israel do. And then they may know that this house I have built is called by Your name.

34. நீர் உம்முடைய ஜனங்களை அனுப்பும் வழியிலே அவர்கள் தங்கள் சத்துருக்களோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணப் புறப்படும்போது, நீர் தெரிந்துகொண்ட இந்த நகரத்துக்கும், உம்முடைய நாமத்திற்கு நான் கட்டின இந்த ஆலயத்திற்கும் நேராக விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினால்,

34. 'When Your people go out to battle against those who hate them, by whatever way You send them, and they pray to You toward this city which You have chosen and the house I have built for Your name,

35. பரலோகத்தில் இருக்கிற தேவரீர் அவர்கள் விண்ணப்பத்தையும் வேண்டுதலையும் கேட்டு, அவர்கள் நியாயத்தை விசாரிப்பீராக.

35. then hear their prayer from heaven and help them.

36. பாவஞ்செய்யாத மனுஷன் இல்லையே; ஆகையால் அவர்கள் உமக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்து, தேவரீர் அவர்கள்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் சத்துருக்கள் கையில் அவர்களை ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கிறதினால், அவர்களைச் சிறைபிடிக்கிறவர்கள் அவர்களைத் தூரத்திலாகிலும் சமீபத்திலாகிலும் இருக்கிற தங்கள் தேசத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோயிருக்கையில்,

36. 'When they sin against You, (for there is no man who does not sin), and You are angry with them and give them to those who hate them, they will be carried away against their will to a land far away or near.

37. அவர்கள் சிறைபட்டுப்போன தேசத்திலே தங்களில் உணர்வடைந்து, மனத்திரும்பி: நாங்கள் பாவஞ்செய்து அக்கிரமம்பண்ணி, துன்மார்க்கமாய் நடந்தோம் என்று தங்கள் சிறையிருப்பான தேசத்திலே உம்மை நோக்கிக் கெஞ்சி,

37. If they think about it in the land where they have been taken, and are sorry for their sins and turn away from them and pray to You in the land where they have been taken, saying, `We have sinned. We have been bad and have done wrong.'

38. தாங்கள் சிறைகளாகக் கொண்டுபோகப்பட்ட தங்கள் சிறையிருப்பான தேசத்திலே, தங்கள் முழு இருதயத்தோடும் தங்கள் முழு ஆத்துமாவோடும் உம்மிடத்தில் திரும்பி, தேவரீர் தங்கள் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தங்கள் தேசத்திற்கும், தேவரீர் தெரிந்துகொண்ட இந்த நகரத்திற்கும், உம்முடைய நாமத்திற்கு நான் கட்டின இந்த ஆலயத்திற்கும் நேராக உம்மை நோக்கி விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினால்,

38. If they come back to You with all their heart and soul in the land where they have been taken and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers and toward the city You have chosen and toward the house I have built for Your name,

39. உம்முடைய வாசஸ்தலமாகிய பரலோகத்திலிருக்கிற தேவரீர் அவர்கள் விண்ணப்பத்தையும் ஜெபங்களையும் கேட்டு, அவர்கள் நியாயத்தை விசாரித்து, உமக்கு விரோதமாய்ப் பாவஞ்செய்த உம்முடைய ஜனத்திற்கு மன்னித்தருளும்.

39. then hear from heaven where You live. Hear their prayer and what they ask for, and help them. Forgive Your people who have sinned against You.

40. இப்போதும் என் தேவனே, இந்த ஸ்தலத்திலே செய்யப்படும் விண்ணப்பத்திற்கு உம்முடைய கண்கள் திறந்தவைகளும், உம்முடைய செவிகள் கவனிக்கிறவைகளுமாயிருப்பதாக.

40. Now, O my God, I ask You, let Your eyes be open and let Your ears listen to the prayer given in this place.

41. தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, உம்முடைய தாபர ஸ்தலத்திற்கு தேவரீர் உமது வல்லமை விளங்கும் பெட்டியுடன் எழுந்தருளும்; தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, உமது ஆசாரியர் இரட்சிப்பைத் தரித்து, உம்முடைய பரிசுத்தவான்கள் நன்மையிலே மகிழ்வார்களாக.

41. Now rise up, O Lord God. Go to Your resting place, You and the special box of Your power. O Lord God, let Your religious leaders be dressed in saving power. Let those who belong to You be filled with joy in what is good.

42. தேவனாகிய கர்த்தாவே, நீர் அபிஷேகம்பண்ணினவனின் முகத்தைப் புறக்கணியாமல், உம்முடைய தாசனாகிய தாவீதுக்கு வாக்குத்தத்தம்பண்ணின கிருபைகளை நினைத்தருளும் என்றான்.

42. O Lord God, do not turn away the face of Your chosen one. Remember Your loving-kindness to Your servant David.'
