1. ராஜாவின் இருதயம் அப்சலோமின் மேல் இன்னும் தாங்கலாயிருக்கிறதைச் செருயாவின் குமாரன் யோவாப் கண்டு,

1. Forsothe Joab, the sone of Saruye, vndirstood, that the herte of the kyng was turned to Absolon;

2. அவன் தெக்கோவாவிலிருக்கிற புத்தியுள்ள ஒரு ஸ்தீரியை அழைத்து: நீ இழவு கொண்டாடுகிறவளைப்போல, துக்கவஸ்திரங்களை உடுத்திக்கொண்டு, எண்ணெய் பூசிக்கொள்ளாமல், இறந்து போனவனுக்காக நெடுநாள் துக்கிக்கிற ஸ்திரீயைப் போலக் காண்பித்து,

2. and he sente to Thecua, and took fro thennus a wise womman, and he seide to hir, Feyne thee to morene, and be thou clothid with clooth of duyl, and be thou anoyntid with oile, that thou be as a womman by morenynge `now in ful myche tyme a deed man.

3. ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய், அவரை நோக்கி: இன்ன இன்ன பிரகாரமாகச் சொல் என்று அவள் சொல்லவேண்டிய வார்த்தைகளை யோவாப் அவள் வாயிலே போட்டான்.

3. And thou schalt entre to the kyng, and thou schalt speke to hym siche wordis. Sotheli Joab puttide the wordis in hir mouth.

4. அப்படியே தெக்கோவா ஊராளான அந்த ஸ்திரீ ராஜாவோடே பேசப்போய், தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து வணங்கி: ராஜாவே, இரட்சியும் என்றாள்.

4. Therfor whanne the womman of Thecua hadde entrid to the kyng, sche felde bifor hym on the erthe, and worschipide, and seide, A! kyng, kepe me.

5. ராஜா அவளைப் பார்த்து: உனக்கு என்ன வேண்டும் என்றதற்கு, அவள்: நான் விதவையானவள், என் புருஷன் சென்றுபோனான்.

5. And the kyng seide to hir, What hast thou of cause? And sche answeride, Alas! Y am a womman widewe, for myn hosebonde is deed;

6. உமது அடியாளுக்கு இரண்டு குமாரர் இருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் இருவரும் வெளியிலே சண்டைபண்ணி, அவர்களை விலக்க ஒருவரும் இல்லாதபடியினால், ஒருவன் மற்றவனை அடித்துக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

6. and tweyne sones weren of thin handmayde, whiche debatiden ayens hem silf in the feeld, and `noon was that myyte forbede hem, and oon smoot `the tother, and killide hym.

7. வம்சத்தார் எல்லாரும் உம்முடைய அடியாளுக்கு விரோதமாய் எழும்பி, தன் சகோதரனைக் கொன்று போட்டவனை ஒப்பி; அவன் கொன்ற அவன் சகோதரனுடைய பிராணனுக்காக நாங்கள் அவனைக் கொன்றுபோடுவோம்; சுதந்தரவாளனாயினும் அவனையும் அழித்துப்போடுவோம் என்கிறார்கள். இப்படி என் புருஷனுக்குப் பேரும் நீதியும் பூமியின்மேல் வைக்கப்படாதபடிக்கு, எனக்கு இன்னும் மீதியாயிருக்கிற பொறியையும் அவித்துப்போட மனதாயிருக்கிறார்கள் என்றாள்.

7. And lo! al the kynrede risith ayens thin handmayde, and seith, Yyue thou hym that killide his brothir, that we sle hym for the lijf of his brother whom he killide, and that we do awei the eir; and thei seken to quenche my sparcle whych is lefte, that name dwelle not to myn hosebonde, and relikis, `ethir remenauntis, be not to him on erthe.

8. ராஜா அந்த ஸ்திரீயைப் பார்த்து: நீ உன் வீட்டுக்குப் போ, உன் காரியத்தைக் குறித்து உத்தரவு கொடுப்பேன் என்றான்.

8. And the kyng seide to the womman, Go in to thin hows, and Y schal comaunde for thee.

9. பின்னும் அந்தத் தெக்கோவாவூர் ஸ்திரீ ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, ராஜாவின் மேலும் அவர் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேலும் குற்றமில்லாதபடிக்கு, அந்தப் பழி என்மேலும் என் தகப்பன் வீட்டின்மேலும் சுமரக்கடவது என்றாள்.

9. And the womman of Thecua seide to the kyng, My lord the kyng, this wickidnesse be on me, and on the hows of my fadir; forsothe the kyng and his trone be innocent.

10. அதற்கு ராஜா: உனக்கு விரோதமாகப் பேசுகிறவனை என்னிடத்தில் கொண்டுவா; அப்பொழுது அவன் இனி உன்னைத் தொடாதிருப்பான் என்றான்.

10. And the kyng seide, Brynge thou hym to me, that ayenseith thee, and he schal no more adde that he touche thee.

11. பின்னும் அவள்: இரத்தப்பழி வாங்குகிறவர்கள் அழிம்பு செய்து, என் குமாரனை அதம்பண்ணப் பெருகிப்போகாதபடிக்கு, ராஜாவானவர் தம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை நினைப்பாராக என்றாள். அதற்கு ராஜா: உன் குமாரனுடைய மயிரில் ஒன்றாவது தரையில் விழுவதில்லை என்று கர்த்தரின் ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

11. And sche seide, The kyng haue mynde on his Lord God, and the nexte men of blood to take veniaunce be not multiplied, and `thei schulen not sle my sone. And the kyng seide, The Lord lyueth, for noon of the heeris of thi sone schal falle on the erthe.

12. அப்பொழுது அந்த ஸ்திரீ: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனோடே உமது அடியாள் ஒரு வார்த்தை சொல்ல உத்தரவாக வேண்டும் என்றாள். அவன்: சொல்லு என்றான்.

12. Therfor the womman seide, Thin handmayde speke a word to my lord the kyng. And the kyng seide, Speke thou.

13. அப்பொழுது அந்த ஸ்திரீ: பின்னை ஏன் தேவனுடைய ஜனத்திற்கு விரோதமாய் இப்படிப்பட்ட நினைவை நீர் கொண்டிருக்கிறீர், துரத்துண்ட தம்முடையவனை ராஜா திரும்ப அழைக்காததினாலே, ராஜா இப்பொழுது சொன்ன வார்த்தையினால் குற்றமுள்ளவரைப்போல் இருக்கிறார்.

13. And the womman seide, Whi `thouytist thou sich a thing ayens the puple of God? and the kyng spak this word, that he do synne, and brynge not ayen his sone cast out?

14. நாம் மரிப்பது நிச்சயம், திரும்பச் சேர்க்கக்கூடாதபடிக்கு, தரையிலே சுவறுகிற தண்ணீரைப்போல் இருக்கிறோம்; தேவன் ஜீவனை எடுத்துக்கொள்ளாமல், துரத்துண்டவன் முற்றிலும் தம்மை விட்டு விலக்கப்படாதிருக்கும் நினைவுகளை நினைக்கிறார்.

14. Alle we dyen, and as watris that schulen not turne ayen, we sliden in to erthe; and God nyl that a soule perische, but he withdrawith, and thenkith lest he perische outirly, which is cast awey.

15. இப்பொழுதும் நான் என் ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவோடே இந்த வார்த்தையைப் பேசவந்த முகாந்தரம் என்னவென்றால்: ஜனங்கள் எனக்குப் பயமுண்டாக்கினதினால், நான் ராஜாவோடே பேசவந்தேன்; ஒருவேளை ராஜா தமது அடியாளுடைய வார்த்தையின்படி செய்வார் என்று உமது அடியாளாகிய நான் நினைத்ததினாலும் வந்தேனே ஒழிய வேறில்லை.

15. Now therfor come thou, that Y speke to my lord the kyng this word, while the puple is present; and thin handmaide seide, Y schal speke to the kyng, if in ony maner the kyng do the word of his handmayde.

16. என்னையும் என் குமாரனையும் ஏகமாய் தேவனுடைய சுதந்தரத்திற்குப் புறம்பாக்கி, அழிக்க நினைக்கிற மனுஷனுடைய கைக்குத் தமது அடியாளை நீங்கலாக்கிவிடும்படிக்கு ராஜா கேட்பார்.

16. And the kyng herde the wordis, that he schulde delyuere his handmayde fro the hondis of alle men, that wolden do awei me, and my sone to gidere, fro the eritage of the Lord.

17. ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய வார்த்தை எனக்கு ஆறுதலாயிருக்கும் என்று உமது அடியாளாகிய நான் எண்ணினேன்; நன்மையையும் தீமையையும் கேட்கும்படி, ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் தேவனுடைய தூதனைப் போல இருக்கிறார்; இதற்காக உம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உம்மோடேக்கூட இருக்கிறார் என்றாள்.

17. Therfor thin hand mayde seie, that the word of my lord the kyng be maad as sacrifice, `that is, that the sentence youun of hym be plesaunt to God, as sacrifice plesith God; for as an aungel of the Lord, so is my lord the kyng, that he be not mouyd bi blessyng nether bi cursyng. Wherfor and thi Lord God is with thee.

18. அப்பொழுது ராஜா அந்த ஸ்திரீக்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: நான் உன்னிடத்தில் கேட்கும் காரியத்தை நீ எனக்கு மறைக்க வேண்டாம் என்றான். அதற்கு அந்த ஸ்திரீ, ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவர் சொல்வாராக என்றாள்.

18. And the kyng answeride, and seide to the womman, Hide thou not fro me the word which Y axe thee. And the womman seide to hym, Speke thou, my lord the kyng.

19. அப்பொழுது ராஜா: இதிலெல்லாம் யோவாப் உனக்கு உட்கையாய் இருக்கவில்லையா என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு ஸ்திரீ பிரதியுத்தரமாக, ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவன் சொன்னதற்கெல்லாம் வலது பக்கத்திலாவது இடது பக்கத்திலாவது விலகுவதற்கு ஒருவராலும் கூடாது என்று ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஜீவனைக் கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன்; உமது அடியானாகிய யோவாப் தான் இதை எனக்குக் கற்பித்து, அவனே இந்த எல்லா வார்த்தைகளையும் உமது அடியாளின் வாயிலே போட்டான்.

19. And the kyng seide, Whether the hond of Joab is with thee in alle these thingis? The womman answeride, and seide, Bi the helthe of thi soule, my lord the kyng, nether to the left side nether to the riyt side is ony thing of alle these thingis, whiche my lord the kyng spak. For thi seruaunt Joab hym silf comaundide to me, and he puttide alle these wordis in to the mouth of thin handmaide,

20. நான் இந்தக் காரியத்தை உபமானமாய்ப் பேசுகிறதற்கு உமது அடியானாகிய யோவாப் அதற்குக் காரணமாயிருந்தான்; ஆனாலும் தேசத்தில் நடக்கிறதையெல்லாம் அறிய, என் ஆண்டவனுடைய ஞானம் தேவதூதனுடைய ஞானத்தைப் போல் இருக்கிறது என்றாள்.

20. that Y schulde turne the figure of this word; for thi seruaunt Joab comaundide this thing. Forsothe thou, my lord the kyng, art wijs, as an aungel of God hath wisdom, that thou vnderstonde alle thingis on erthe.

21. அப்பொழுது ராஜா யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்கிறேன், நீ போய் அப்சலோம் என்னும் பிள்ளையாண்டானைத் திரும்ப அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவா என்றான்.

21. And the kyng seide to Joab, Lo! Y am plesid, and Y haue do thi word; therfor go thou, and ayen clepe thou the child Absolon.

22. அப்பொழுது யோவாப் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து வணங்கி, ராஜாவை வாழ்த்தி, ராஜா தமது அடியானுடைய வார்த்தையின்படி செய்ததினால், என் ஆண்டவனாகிய ராஜாவின் கண்களில் எனக்குத் தயைகிடைத்தது என்று இன்று உமது அடியானுக்குத் தெரியவந்தது என்றான்.

22. And Joab felde on his face to erthe, and worschipide, and blesside the kyng; and Joab seide, Thi seruaunt hath vndirstonde to dai, that Y foond grace in thin iyen, my lord the kyng, for thou hast do the word of thi seruaunt.

23. பின்பு யோவாப் எழுந்து, கேசூருக்குப் போய், அப்சலோமை எருசலேமுக்கு அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வந்தான்.

23. Therfor Joab roos, and yede in to Gessur, and brouyte Absolon in to Jerusalem.

24. ராஜா: அவன் என் முகத்தைப் பார்க்கவேண்டியதில்லை; தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப் போகட்டும் என்றான்; அப்படியே அப்சலோம் ராஜாவின் முகத்தைப் பார்க்காமல் தன் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போனான்.

24. Forsothe the kyng seide, Turne he ayen in to his hows, and se not he my face.

25. இஸ்ரவேலர் அனைவருக்குள்ளும் அப்சலோமைப்போல் சவுந்தரியமுள்ளவனும் மெச்சிக்கொள்ளப்பட்டவனும் இல்லை; உள்ளங்கால் தொடங்கி உச்சந்தலைமட்டும் அவனில் ஒரு பழுதும் இல்லாதிருந்தது.

25. Therfor Absolon turnede ayen in to his hows, and siy not the face of the kyng. Sotheli no man in al Israel was so fair as Absolon, and ful comeli; fro the step of the foot `til to the top, `no wem was in hym;

26. அவன் தன் தலைமயிர் தனக்குப் பாரமாயிருப்பதினால் வருஷாந்தரம் சிரைத்துக்கொள்ளுவான்; சிரைக்கும்போது, அவன் தலைமயிர் ராஜாவுடைய நிறையின்படி இருநூறு சேக்கல் நிறையாயிருக்கும்.

26. and in as myche as `he clippide more the heeris, bi so myche thei wexiden more; forsothe he was clippid onys in the yeer, for the heer greuede him. And whanne he clippide the heeris, he weiyide `the heeris of his heed bi twei hundrid siclis with comyn weiyte.

27. அப்சலோமுக்கு மூன்று குமாரரும், தாமார் என்னும் பேர்கொண்ட ஒரு குமாரத்தியும் பிறந்தார்கள்; இவள் ரூபவதியான பெண்ணாயிருந்தாள்.

27. Forsothe thre sones, and a douyter, Thamar bi name, of `excellent forme weren borun to Absolon.

28. அப்சலோம், ராஜாவின் முகத்தைக் காணாமலே, இரண்டு வருஷம் எருசலேமிலே குடியிருந்தான்.

28. And Absolon dwellide in Jerusalem twei yeer, and he siy not the face of the kyng.

29. ஆகையால் அப்சலோம் யோவாபை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் அனுப்பும்படி அழைப்பித்தான்; அவனோ அவனிடத்திற்கு வரமாட்டேன் என்றான்; இரண்டாம்விசையும் அவன் அழைத்தனுப்பினான்; அவன் வரமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

29. Therfor he sente to Joab, that he schulde sende hym to the kyng; which Joab nolde come to hym. And whanne he hadde sent the secounde tyme, and Joab nolde come,

30. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் வேலைக்காரரைப் பார்த்து: இதோ என் நிலத்திற்கு அருகே யோவாபின் நிலம் இருக்கிறது; அதிலே அவனுக்கு வாற்கோதுமை விளைந்திருக்கிறது; நீங்கள் போய் அதைத் தீக்கொளுத்திப் போடுங்கள் என்றான்; அப்படியே அப்சலோமின் வேலைக்காரர் அந்த நிலத்தை தீக்கொளுத்திப் போட்டார்கள்.

30. Absolon seide to hise seruauntis, Ye knowen the feeld of Joab bisidis my feeld hauynge ripe barli; therfor go ye, and brenne ye it with fier. Therfor the seruauntis of Absolon brenten the corn with fier. And the seruauntis of Joab camen with her clothis to-rent, and seiden, The seruauntis

31. அப்பொழுது யோவாப் எழுந்திருந்து, அப்சலோமிடத்தில் வீட்டிற்குள் போய், என்னுடைய நிலத்தை உம்முடைய வேலைக்காரர் தீக்கொளுத்திப்போட்டது என்ன என்று அவனைக் கேட்டான்.

31. of Absolon han brent the part of feeld bi fier. And Joab roos, and cam to Absolon in to his hows, and seide, Whi

32. அப்சலோம் யோவாபைப் பார்த்து: இதோ, நான் ஏன் கேசூரிலிருந்து வந்தேன்; நான் அங்கே இருந்துவிட்டால் நலம் என்று ராஜாவுக்குச் சொல்லும்படி உம்மை ராஜாவினிடத்தில் அனுப்புவதற்காக உம்மை இங்கே வரும்படி அழைப்பித்தேன்; இப்போதும் நான் ராஜாவின் முகத்தைப் பார்க்கட்டும்; என்மேல் குற்றமிருந்தால் அவர் என்னைக் கொன்றுபோடட்டும் என்றான்.

32. han thi seruauntis brent my corn bi fier? And Absolon answeride to Joab, Y sente to thee, and bisouyte that thou schuldist come to me, and that Y schulde sende thee to the kyng, that thou schuldist seie to hym, Whi cam Y fro Gessur? It was betere to me to be there; therfor Y biseche, that Y se the face of the kyng, that if he is myndeful of my wickidnesse, sle he me.

33. யோவாப் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போய், அதை அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தபோது, அப்சலோமை அழைப்பித்தான்; அவன் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, ராஜாவுக்கு முன்பாகத் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து வணங்கினான், அப்பொழுது ராஜா அப்சலோமை முத்தமிட்டான்.

33. Joab entride to the kyng, and telde to hym. And Absolon was clepid, and entryde to the kyng, and worschipide on the face of erthe bifor hym, and the kyng kisside Absolon.
