1. சிலநாள் சென்றபின்பு, சிம்சோன் கோதுமை அறுக்கிற நாட்களில் ஒரு வெள்ளாட்டுக்குட்டியை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, தன் பெண்சாதியைக் காணப்போய்: நான் என் பெண்சாதியினிடத்தில் அறைவீட்டிற்குள் போகட்டும் என்றான்; அவள் தகப்பனோ, அவனை உள்ளேபோக ஒட்டாமல்:

1. But within a while after, in the time of wheate haruest, Samson visited his wife with a kid, saying, I wil go in to my wife into the chamber: but her father would not suffer him to goe in.

2. நீ அவளை முற்றிலும் பகைத்துவிட்டாய் என்று நான் எண்ணி, அவளை உன் சிநேகிதனுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிட்டேன்; அவள் தங்கை அவளைப்பார்க்கிலும் அழகானவள் அல்லவா, அவளுக்குப் பதிலாக இவள் உனக்கு இருக்கட்டும் என்று சொன்னான்.

2. And her father sayde, I thought that thou hadst hated her: therefore gaue I her to thy companion. Is not her yonger sister fayrer then shee? take her, I pray thee, in stead of the other.

3. அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன்: நான் பெலிஸ்தருக்குப் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்தாலும், என்மேல் குற்றமில்லை என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்லி,

3. Then Samson saide vnto them, Nowe am I more blamelesse then the Philistims: therefore will I doe them displeasure.

4. புறப்பட்டுப்போய், முந்நூறு நரிகளைப் பிடித்து, பந்தங்களை எடுத்து, வாலோடே வால் சேர்த்து, இரண்டு வால்களுக்கும் நடுவே ஒவ்வொரு பந்தத்தை வைத்துக்கட்டி,

4. And Samson went out, and tooke three hundreth foxes, and tooke firebrands, and turned them taile to taile, and put a firebrand in ye middes betweene two tailes.

5. பந்தங்களைக் கொளுத்தி, பெலிஸ்தரின் வெள்ளாண்மையிலே அவைகளை ஓடவிட்டு, கதிர்க்கட்டுகளையும் வெள்ளாண்மையையும் திராட்சத்தோட்டங்களையும் ஒலிவத்தோப்புக்களையும் சுட்டெரித்துப்போட்டான்.

5. And when he had set the brandes on fire, he sent them out into the standing corne of the Philistims, and burnt vp both the rickes and the standing corne with the vineyardes and oliues.

6. இப்படிச் செய்தவன் யார் என்று பெலிஸ்தர் கேட்கிறபோது, திம்னாத்தானுடைய மருமகனாகிய சிம்சோன்தான்; அவனுடைய பெண்சாதியை அவனுடைய சிநேகிதனுக்குக் கொடுத்துவிட்டபடியால் அப்படிச் செய்தான் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தர் போய், அவளையும் அவள் தகப்பனையும் அக்கினியால் சுட்டெரித்தார்கள்.

6. Then the Philistims sayde, Who hath done this? And they answered, Samson the sonne in law of the Timnite, because hee had taken his wife, and giuen her to his companion. Then the Philistims came vp and burnt her and her father with fire.

7. அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் இப்படிச் செய்தபடியால் நான் உங்கள் கையிலே பழிவாங்கினாலொழிய இளைப்பாறேன் என்று சொல்லி,

7. And Samson saide vnto them, Though yee haue done this, yet wil I be auenged of you, and then I wil cease.

8. அவர்களைச் சின்னபின்னமாகச் சங்காரம்பண்ணி, பின்பு போய், ஏத்தாம் ஊர்க் கன்மலைச் சந்திலே குடியிருந்தான்.

8. So hee smote them hippe and thigh with a mightie plague: then hee went and dwelt in the top of the rocke Etam.

9. அப்பொழுது பெலிஸ்தர் போய், யூதாவிலே பாளயமிறங்கி, லேகி என்கிற வெளியிலே பரவியிருந்தார்கள்.

9. Then the Philistims came vp, and pitched in Iudah, and were spred abroad in Lehi.

10. நீங்கள் எங்களுக்கு விரோதமாக வந்தது என்ன என்று யூதா மனுஷர் கேட்டதற்கு, அவர்கள்: சிம்சோன் எங்களுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, நாங்களும் அவனுக்குச் செய்யும்படி அவனைக் கட்டுகிறதற்காக வந்தோம் என்றார்கள்.

10. And the men of Iudah sayde, Why are yee come vp vnto vs? And they answered, To binde Samson are we come vp, and to do to him as hee hath done to vs.

11. அப்பொழுது யூதாவிலே மூவாயிரம்பேர் ஏத்தாம் ஊர்க் கன்மலைச் சந்திற்குப் போய்: பெலிஸ்தர் நம்மை ஆளுகிறார்கள் என்று தெரியாதா? பின்னை ஏன் எங்களுக்கு இப்படிச் செய்தாய் என்று சிம்சோனிடத்தில் சொன்னார்கள். அதற்கு அவன்: அவர்கள் எனக்குச் செய்தபடியே நானும் அவர்களுக்குச் செய்தேன் என்றான்.

11. Then three thousande men of Iudah went to the top of the rocke Etam, and sayde to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistims are rulers ouer vs? Wherefore then hast thou done thus vnto vs? And he answered them, As they did vnto me, so haue I done vnto them.

12. அப்பொழுது அவர்கள்: உன்னைக்கட்டி, பெலிஸ்தர் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்க வந்திருக்கிறோம் என்றார்கள். அதற்குச் சிம்சோன்: நீங்களே என்மேல் விழுகிறதில்லை என்று எனக்கு ஆணையிடுங்கள் என்றான்.

12. Againe they sayd vnto him, Wee are come to binde thee, and to deliuer thee into the hande of the Philistims. And Samson sayde vnto them, Sweare vnto me, that yee will not fall vpon me your selues.

13. அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நாங்கள் உன்னை இறுகக்கட்டி, அவர்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்போமே அல்லாமல், உன்னைக் கொன்றுபோடமாட்டோம் என்று சொல்லி, இரண்டு புதுக் கயிறுகளாலே அவனைக் கட்டி, கன்மலையிலிருந்து கொண்டுபோனார்கள்.

13. And they answered him, saying, No, but we will bynde thee and deliuer thee vnto their hande, but we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two newe cordes, and brought him from the rocke.

14. அவன் லேகிவரைக்கும் வந்து சேர்ந்தபோது, பெலிஸ்தர் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய் ஆரவாரம் பண்ணினார்கள். அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய ஆவி அவன்மேல் பலமாய் இறங்கினதினால், அவன் புயங்களில் கட்டியிருந்த கயிறுகள் நெருப்புப்பட்ட நூல்போலாகி, அவன் கட்டுகள் அவன் கைகளை விட்டு அறுந்துபோயிற்று.

14. When hee came to Lehi, the Philistims shouted against him, and the Spirite of the Lord came vpon him, and the cordes that were vpon his armes, became as flaxe that was burnt with fire: for the bandes loosed from his handes.

15. உடனே அவன் ஒரு கழுதையின் பச்சைத் தாடையெலும்பைக் கண்டு, தன் கையை நீட்டி அதை எடுத்து, அதினாலே ஆயிரம்பேரைக் கொன்றுபோட்டான்.

15. And he found a new iawebone of an asse, and put forth his hand, and caught it, and slewe a thousand men therewith.

16. அப்பொழுது சிம்சோன்: கழுதையின் தாடையெலும்பினால் குவியல் குவியலாகப் பட்டுக்கிடக்கிறார்கள், கழுதையின் தாடையெலும்பினால் ஆயிரம்பேரைக் கொன்றேன் என்றான்.

16. Then Samson sayd, With the iaw of an asse are heapes vpon heapes: with the iawe of an asse haue I slaine a thousand men.

17. அப்படிச் சொல்லித் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, தன் கையில் இருந்த தாடையெலும்பை எறிந்துவிட்டு, அவ்விடத்திற்கு ராமாத்லேகி என்று பேரிட்டான்.

17. And when he had left speaking, hee cast away the iawebone out of his hande, and called that place, Ramath-Lehi.

18. அவன் மிகவும் தாகமடைந்து, கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டு: தேவரீர் உமது அடியேன் கையினால் இந்தப் பெரிய இரட்சிப்பைக் கட்டளையிட்டிருக்க, இப்பொழுது நான் தாகத்தினால் செத்து, விருந்தசேதனம் இல்லாதவர்கள் கையிலே விழவேண்டுமோ என்றான்.

18. And he was sore a thirst, and called on the Lord, and sayde, Thou hast giuen this great deliuerance into the hand of thy seruaunt: and nowe shall I dye for thirst, and fall into the handes of the vncircumcised?

19. அப்பொழுது தேவன் லேகியிலுள்ள பள்ளத்தைப் பிளக்கப்பண்ணினார்; அதிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் ஓடிவந்தது; அவன் குடித்தபோது அவன் உயிர் திரும்ப வந்தது, அவன் பிழைத்தான்; ஆனபடியால் அதற்கு எந்நக்கோரி என்று பேரிட்டான்; அது இந்நாள்வரையும் லேகியில் இருக்கிறது.

19. Then God brake the cheeke tooth, that was in the iawe, and water came thereout: and when he had drunke, his Spirit came againe, and he was reuiued: wherefore the name therof is called, Enhakkore, which is in Lehi vnto this day.

20. அவன் பெலிஸ்தரின் நாட்களில் இஸ்ரவேலை இருபது வருஷம் நியாயம் விசாரித்தான்.

20. And hee iudged Israel in the dayes of the Philistims twentie yeeres.
