1. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கடந்து தீருமளவும், கர்த்தர் யோர்தானின் தண்ணீரை அவர்களுக்கு முன்பாக வற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணினதை, யோர்தானுக்கு மேல்கரையில் குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் சகல ராஜாக்களும், சமுத்திரத்தருகே குடியிருந்த கானானியரின் சகல ராஜாக்களும் கேட்டதுமுதற்கொண்டு, அவர்கள் இருதயம் கரைந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாக சோர்ந்துபோனார்கள்.

1. When all the Amorite kings west of the Jordan and the Canaanite kings along the seacoast heard how GOD had stopped the Jordan River before the People of Israel until they had crossed over, their hearts sank; the courage drained out of them just thinking about the People of Israel.

2. அக்காலத்திலே கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: நீ கருக்கான கத்திகளை உண்டாக்கி, திரும்ப இரண்டாம்விசை இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணு என்றார்.

2. At that time GOD said to Joshua, 'Make stone knives and circumcise the People of Israel a second time.'

3. அப்பொழுது யோசுவா கருக்கான கத்திகளை உண்டாக்கி, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை ஆர்லோத் மேட்டிலே விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணினான்.

3. So Joshua made stone knives and circumcised the People of Israel at Foreskins Hill.

4. யோசுவா இப்படி விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணின முகாந்தரம் என்னவென்றால்: எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட சகல ஆண்மக்களாகிய யுத்த புருஷர் எல்லாரும் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபின்பு, வழியில் வனாந்தரத்திலே மாண்டுபோனார்கள்.

4. This is why Joshua conducted the circumcision. All the males who had left Egypt, the soldiers, had died in the wilderness on the journey out of Egypt.

5. எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட எல்லா ஜனங்களும் விருத்தசேதனம் பண்ணப்பட்டிருந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டபின்பு, வழியில் வனாந்தரத்திலே பிறந்த சகல ஜனங்களும் விருத்தசேதனம் பண்ணப்படாதிருந்தார்கள்.

5. All the people who had come out of Egypt, of course, had been circumcised, but all those born in the wilderness along the way since leaving Egypt had not been.

6. கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாமற்போன எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட யுத்தபுருஷரான யாவரும் மாளுமட்டும், இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் நாற்பதுவருஷம் வனாந்தரத்தில் நடந்து திரிந்தார்கள்; கர்த்தர் எங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கும்படி அவர்கள் பிதாக்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்ட பாலும் தேனும் ஓடுகிற தேசத்தை அவர்கள் காண்பதில்லை என்று கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு ஆணையிட்டிருந்தார்.

6. The fact is that the People of Israel had walked through that wilderness for forty years until the entire nation died out, all the men of military age who had come out of Egypt but had disobeyed the call of GOD. GOD vowed that these would never lay eyes on the land GOD had solemnly promised their ancestors to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.

7. But their children had replaced them. These are the ones Joshua circumcised. They had never been circumcised; no one had circumcised them along the way.

8. ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் விருத்தசேதனம்பண்ணப்பட்டுத் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, அவர்கள் குணமாகுமட்டும் தங்கள்தங்கள் இடத்திலே பாளயத்தில் தரித்திருந்தார்கள்.

8. When they had completed the circumcising of the whole nation, they stayed where they were in camp until they were healed.

9. கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: இன்று எகிப்தின் நிந்தையை உங்கள்மேல் இராதபடிக்குப் புரட்டிப்போட்டேன் என்றார்; அதனால் அந்த ஸ்தலம் இந்நாள்வரைக்கும் கில்கால் என்னப்படுகிறது.

9. GOD said to Joshua, 'Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt.' That's why the place is called The Gilgal. It's still called that.

10. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கில்காலில் பாளயமிறங்கியிருந்து, மாதத்தின் பதினாலாம் தேதி அந்திநேரத்திலே எரிகோவின் சமனான வெளிகளிலே பஸ்காவை ஆசரித்தார்கள்.

10. The People of Israel continued to camp at The Gilgal. They celebrated the Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the month on the plains of Jericho.

11. பஸ்காவின் மறுநாளாகிய அன்றையதினம் அவர்கள் தேசத்தினுடைய தானியத்தாலாகிய புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பங்களையும் சுட்ட கதிர்களையும் புசித்தார்கள்.

11. Right away, the day after the Passover, they started eating the produce of that country, unraised bread and roasted grain.

12. அவர்கள் தேசத்தின் தானியத்திலே புசித்த மறுநாளிலே மன்னா பெய்யாமல் ஒழிந்தது; அதுமுதல் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு மன்னா இல்லாமற்போய், அவர்கள் கானான்தேசத்துப் பலனை அந்த வருஷத்தில்தானே புசித்தார்கள்.

12. And then no more manna; the manna stopped. As soon as they started eating food grown in the land, there was no more manna for the People of Israel. That year they ate from the crops of Canaan.

13. பின்னும் யோசுவா எரிகோவின் வெளியிலிருந்து தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்துப் பார்க்கும்போது, இதோ, ஒருவர் அவனுக்கு எதிரே நின்றார்; உருவின பட்டயம் அவர் கையில் இருந்தது; யோசுவா அவரிடத்தில் போய்: நீர் எங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவரோ, எங்கள் சத்துருக்களைச் சேர்ந்தவரோ என்று கேட்டான்.

13. And then this, while Joshua was there near Jericho: He looked up and saw right in front of him a man standing, holding his drawn sword. Joshua stepped up to him and said, 'Whose side are you on--ours or our enemies'?'

14. அதற்கு அவர்: அல்ல, நான் கர்த்தருடைய சேனையின் அதிபதியாய் இப்பொழுது வந்தேன் என்றார்; அப்பொழுது யோசுவா தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்து பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவரை நோக்கி: என் ஆண்டவர் தமது அடியேனுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்று கேட்டான்.

14. He said, 'Neither. I'm commander of GOD's army. I've just arrived.' Joshua fell, face to the ground, and worshiped. He asked, 'What orders does my Master have for his servant?'

15. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய சேனையின் அதிபதி யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: உன் கால்களிலிருக்கிற பாதரட்சைகளைக் கழற்றிப்போடு, நீ நிற்கிற இடம் பரிசுத்தமானது என்றார்; யோசுவா அப்படியே செய்தான்.

15. GOD's army commander ordered Joshua, 'Take your sandals off your feet. The place you are standing is holy.' Joshua did it.
