1. இஸ்ரவேலே, கேள்: நீ இப்பொழுது யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, உன்னிலும் ஜனம் பெருத்ததும் பலத்ததுமான ஜாதிகளைத் துரத்தி, வானத்தையளாவிய மதில் சூழ்ந்த பெரிய பட்டணங்களைப் பிடித்து,

1. Hear, O Israel: You go this day across the Jordan to inherit nations greater and stronger than yourselves, cities great and walled up to heaven;

2. ஏனாக்கின் புத்திரராகிய பெரியவர்களும் நெடியவர்களுமான ஜனங்களைத் துரத்திவிடப்போகிறாய்; இவர்கள் செய்தியை நீ அறிந்து, ஏனாக் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாக நிற்பவன் யார் என்று சொல்லப்படுவதை நீ கேட்டிருக்கிறாய்.

2. a people great and many and tall, the sons of Anak, whom you know, and concerning whom you have heard [it said], Who can stand before the children of Anak?

3. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோகிறவர் என்பதை இன்று அறியக்கடவாய்; அவர் பட்சிக்கிற அக்கினியைப்போல அவர்களை அழிப்பார்; அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாக விழப்பண்ணுவார்; இவ்விதமாய்க் கர்த்தர் உனக்குச் சொன்னபடியே, நீ அவர்களைச் சீக்கிரமாய்த் துரத்தி, அவர்களை அழிப்பாய்.

3. And you shall know today, that the Lord your God, He shall go before your face; He is a consuming fire; He shall destroy them, and He shall turn them back before you, and shall destroy them quickly, as the Lord had said to you.

4. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்துகையில், நீ உன் இருதயத்திலே: என் நீதியினிமித்தம் இந்த தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளும்படி கர்த்தர் என்னை அழைத்துவந்தார் என்று சொல்லாயாக; அந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய ஆகாமியத்தினிமித்தமே கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடுகிறார்.

4. Speak not in your heart, when the Lord your God has destroyed these nations before your face, saying, For my righteousness the Lord brought me in to inherit this good land.

5. உன் நீதியினிமித்தமும் உன் இருதயத்தினுடைய உத்தமத்தினிமித்தமும் நீ அவர்கள் தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கும்படி பிரவேசிப்பதில்லை; அந்த ஜாதிகளுடைய ஆகாமியத்தினிமித்தமாகவும், ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்னும் உன் பிதாக்களுக்குக் கர்த்தர் ஆணையிட்டுச் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றும்படியாகவும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அவர்களை உனக்கு முன்பாகத் துரத்திவிடுகிறார்.

5. Not for your righteousness, nor for the holiness of your heart, do you go in to inherit their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations, the Lord shall destroy them from before you, and that He may establish the covenant, which the Lord swore to our fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

6. ஆகையால், உன் நீதியினிமித்தம் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்கு அந்த நல்ல தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கக் கொடார் என்பதை அறியக்கடவாய்; நீ வணங்காக் கழுத்துள்ள ஜனம்.

6. And you shall know this day, that [it is] not for your righteousnesses that the Lord your God gives to you this good land to inherit, for you are a stiff-necked people.

7. நீ வனாந்தரத்தில் உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குக் கடுங்கோபம் உண்டாக்கினதை நினை, அதை மறவாயாக; நீங்கள் எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்ட நாள் முதல், இவ்விடத்தில் வந்து சேருமட்டும், கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணினீர்கள்.

7. Remember, forget not, how much you provoked the Lord your God in the wilderness; from the day that you came forth out of Egypt, even till you came into this place, you continued to be disobedient toward the Lord.

8. ஒரேபிலும் நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்குக் கடுங்கோபம் உண்டாக்கினதினால், கர்த்தர் உங்களை அழிக்கத்தக்கதான உக்கிரங்கொண்டார்.

8. Also in Horeb you provoked the Lord, and the Lord was angry with you, to destroy you;

9. கர்த்தர் உங்களோடே பண்ணின உடன்படிக்கைப் பலகைகளாகிய கற்பலகைகளைப் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளும்படி நான் மலையில் ஏறினபோது, நாற்பதுநாள் இரவும் பகலும் மலையில் தங்கி அப்பம் புசியாமலும் தண்ணீர் குடியாமலும் இருந்தேன்.

9. when I went up into the mountain to receive the tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant, which the Lord made with you, and I was in the mountain forty days and forty nights, I ate no bread and drank no water.

10. அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய விரலினால் எழுதியிருந்த இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளைக் கர்த்தர் என்னிடத்தில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; சபை கூடியிருந்த நாளில் கர்த்தர் மலையிலே அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உங்களுடனே பேசின வார்த்தைகளின்படியே அவைகளில் எழுதியிருந்தது.

10. And the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them there had been written all the words which the Lord spoke to you in the mountain, in the day of the assembly.

11. And it came to pass after forty days and forty nights, [that] the Lord gave me the two tablets of stone, the tablets of the covenant.

12. கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: நீ எழுந்து, சீக்கிரமாய் இவ்விடம் விட்டு, இறங்கிப்போ; நீ எகிப்திலிருந்து அழைத்துக்கொண்டுவந்த உன் ஜனங்கள் தங்களைக் கெடுத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்; நான் அவர்களுக்கு விதித்த வழியை அவர்கள் சீக்கிரமாக விட்டு விலகி, வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட விக்கிரகத்தைத் தங்களுக்காக உண்டாக்கினார்கள் என்றார்.

12. And the Lord said to me, Arise, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you brought out of the land of Egypt have transgressed; they have gone aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them, and have made themselves a molten image.

13. பின்னும் கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: இந்த ஜனங்களைப் பார்த்தேன்; அது வணங்காக் கழுத்துள்ள ஜனம்.

13. And the Lord spoke to me, saying, I have spoken to you once and again, saying, I have seen this people, and behold, they are a stiff-necked people.

14. ஆகையால், நான் அவர்களை அழித்து, அவர்கள் பேரை வானத்தின் கீழ் அற்றுப்போகப்பண்ணும்படி, நீ என்னை விட்டுவிடு; அவர்களைப்பார்க்கிலும் உன்னைப் பலத்ததும் ஜனம் பெருத்ததுமான ஜாதியாக்குவேன் என்றார்.

14. And now I shall utterly destroy them, and I will blot out their name from under heaven, and will make of you a nation great and strong, and more numerous than this.

15. அப்பொழுது நான் திரும்பி மலையிலிருந்து இறங்கினேன், மலையானது அக்கினி பற்றி எரிந்துகொண்டிருந்தது; உடன்படிக்கையின் இரண்டு பலகைகளும் என் இரண்டு கைகளில் இருந்தது.

15. And I turned and went down from the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire to heaven; and the two tablets of the testimonies [were] in my two hands.

16. நான் பார்த்தபோது, நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பாவஞ்செய்து, வார்ப்பிக்கப்பட்ட கன்றுக்குட்டியை உங்களுக்கு உண்டாக்கி, கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு விதித்த வழியைச் சீக்கிரமாய் விட்டு விலகினதைக் கண்டேன்.

16. And when I saw that you had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made for yourselves a molten image, and had gone astray out of the way, which the Lord commanded you to keep;

17. அப்பொழுது நான் என் இரண்டு கைகளிலும் இருந்த அந்த இரண்டு பலகைகளையும் ஓங்கி எறிந்து, அவைகளை உங்கள் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாக உடைத்துப்போட்டேன்.

17. then I took hold of the two tablets, and cast them out of my hands, and broke them before you.

18. கர்த்தரைக் கோபப்படுத்துவதற்கு நீங்கள் அவருடைய சமுகத்தில் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்து நடப்பித்த உங்களுடைய சகல பாவங்கள் நிமித்தமும், நான் கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக முன்போல இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பது நாள் விழுந்து கிடந்தேன்; நான் அப்பம் புசிக்கவுமில்லை, தண்ணீர் குடிக்கவுமில்லை.

18. And I made my petition before the Lord as also at the first forty days and forty nights: I ate no bread and drank no water, on account of all your sins which you sinned in doing evil before the Lord God, to provoke Him.

19. கர்த்தர் உங்களை அழிக்கும்படி உங்கள்மேல் கொண்டிருந்த கோபத்திற்கும் உக்கிரத்திற்கும் பயந்திருந்தேன்; கர்த்தர் அந்த முறையும் என் மன்றாட்டைக் கேட்டார்.

19. And I was greatly terrified because of the wrath and anger, because the Lord was provoked with you utterly, to destroy you; yet the Lord hearkened to me at this time also.

20. ஆரோன் மேலும் கர்த்தர் மிகவும் கோபங்கொண்டு, அவனை அழிக்கவேண்டும் என்றிருந்தார்; அப்பொழுது ஆரோனுக்காகவும் விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினேன்.

20. And He was angry with Aaron to destroy him utterly, and I prayed for Aaron also at that time.

21. உங்கள் பாவக்கிரியையாகிய அந்தக் கன்றுக்குட்டியை நான் எடுத்து அக்கினியில் எரித்து, அதை நொறுக்கி, தூளாய்ப் போகுமட்டும் அரைத்து, அந்தத் தூளை மலையிலிருந்து ஓடுகிற ஆற்றிலே போட்டுவிட்டேன்.

21. And your sin which you had made, the calf, I took [it], and I burned it with fire, and pounded it and ground it down till it became fine; and it became like dust, and I cast the dust into the brook that descended from the mountain.

22. தபேராவிலும், மாசாவிலும், கிப்ரோத் அத்தாவாவிலும் கர்த்தருக்குக் கடுங்கோபம் உண்டாக்கினீர்கள்.

22. Also in the burning, and in the temptation, and at the Graves of Lust, you provoked the Lord.

23. நீங்கள் போய், நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் காதேஸ்பர்னேயாவிலிருந்து உங்களை அனுப்புகையிலும், நீங்கள் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விசுவாசியாமலும், அவருடைய சத்தத்துக்குச் செவிகொடாமலும், அவருடைய வாக்குக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கலகம்பண்ணினீர்கள்.

23. And when the Lord sent you forth from Kadesh Barnea, saying, Go up and inherit the land which I give to you, then you disobeyed the word of the Lord your God, and believed Him not, and hearkened not to His voice.

24. நான் உங்களை அறிந்த நாள் முதற்கொண்டு, நீங்கள் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாகக் கலகம் பண்ணுகிறவர்களாயிருந்தீர்கள்.

24. You were disobedient in the things relating to the Lord from the day in which He became known to you.

25. கர்த்தர் உங்களை அழிப்பேன் என்று சொன்னபடியினால், நான் முன்போல் கர்த்தரின் சமுகத்தில் இரவும் பகலும் நாற்பது நாள் விழுந்துகிடந்தேன்; அப்பொழுது நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கிப் பண்ணின விண்ணப்பமாவது:

25. And I prayed before the Lord forty days and forty nights, the number that I prayed [before], for the Lord said that He would utterly destroy you.

26. கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, தேவரீர் உம்முடைய மகத்துவத்தினாலே மீட்டு, பலத்த கையினால் எகிப்திலிருந்து கொண்டுவந்த உமது ஜனத்தையும், உமது சுதந்தரத்தையும் அழிக்காதிருப்பீராக.

26. And I prayed to God, and said, O Lord, King of gods, destroy not Your people and Your inheritance, whom You redeemed, whom You brought out of the land of Egypt with Your great power, and with Your strong hand, and with Your outstretched arm.

27. கர்த்தர் அவர்களுக்கு வாக்குத்தத்தம் பண்ணியிருந்த தேசத்தில் அவர்களைப் பிரவேசிக்கப்பண்ணக் கூடாமற்போனபடியினாலும், அவர்களை வெறுத்தபடியினாலும், அவர்களை வனாந்தரத்தில் கொன்றுபோடும்படிக்கே கொண்டுவந்தார் என்று நாங்கள் விட்டுப் புறப்படும்படி நீர் செய்த தேசத்தின் குடிகள் சொல்லாதபடிக்கு,

27. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Your servants, to whom You swore by Yourself: look not upon the hardness of heart of this people, and their wickedness, and their sins.

28. தேவரீர் இந்த ஜனங்களின் முரட்டாட்டத்தையும், இவர்கள் ஆகாமியத்தையும், இவர்கள் பாவத்தையும் பாராமல், உமது தாசராகிய ஆபிரகாம் ஈசாக்கு யாக்கோபு என்பவர்களை நினைத்தருளும்.

28. Lest the inhabitants of the land from which You brought us out speak, saying, Because the Lord could not bring them into the land of which He spoke to them, and because He hated them, has He brought them forth to slay them in the wilderness.

29. நீர் உமது மகா பலத்தினாலும், ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் புறப்படப்பண்ணின இவர்கள் உமது ஜனமும் உமது சுதந்தரமுமாயிருக்கிறார்களே என்று விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணினேன்.

29. And these [are] Your people and Your portion, whom You brought out of the land of Egypt with Your great strength, and with Your mighty hand, and with Your outstretched arm.
