1. மோசே இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரையும் அழைப்பித்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: இஸ்ரவேலரே, நான் இன்று உங்கள் காதுகள் கேட்கச் சொல்லும் கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் கேளுங்கள்; நீங்கள் அவைகளின்படியே செய்யும்படிக்கு அவைகளைக் கற்றுக் கைக்கொள்ளக்கடவீர்கள்.

1. And Moses sent for all Israel, and said to them, Give ear, O Israel, to the laws and the decisions which I give you today, and give attention to them so that you may keep and do them.

2. நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் ஓரேபிலே நம்மோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணினார்.

2. The Lord our God made an agreement with us in Horeb.

3. அந்த உடன்படிக்கையைக் கர்த்தர் நம்முடைய பிதாக்களுடன் பண்ணாமல், இந்நாளில் இங்கே உயிரோடிருக்கிற நம்மெல்லாரோடும் பண்ணினார்.

3. The Lord did not make this agreement with our fathers but with us, who are all living and present here today.

4. கர்த்தர் மலையிலே அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து முகமுகமாய் உங்களோடே பேசினார்.

4. The word of the Lord came to you face to face on the mountain, out of the heart of the fire,

5. கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையை உங்களுக்கு அறிவிக்கும்படி, அக்காலத்திலே நான் கர்த்தருக்கும், உங்களுக்கும் நடுவாக நின்றேன்; நீங்கள் அக்கினிக்குப் பயந்து மலையில் ஏறாமல் இருந்தீர்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்:

5. (I was between the Lord and you at that time, to make clear to you the word of the Lord: because, through fear of the fire, you did not go up the mountain;) saying,

6. உன்னை அடிமைத்தன வீடாகிய எகிப்துதேசத்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணின உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நானே.

6. I am the Lord your God, who took you out of the land of Egypt, out of the prison-house.

7. என்னையன்றி உனக்கு வேறே தேவர்கள் உண்டாயிருக்க வேண்டாம்.

7. You are to have no other gods but me.

8. மேலே வானத்திலும், கீழே பூமியிலும், பூமியின்கீழ்த் தண்ணீரிலும் உண்டாயிருக்கிறவைகளுக்கு ஒப்பான ஒரு சுரூபத்தையாகிலும் யாதொரு விக்கிரகத்தையாகிலும் நீ உனக்கு உண்டாக்கவேண்டாம்.

8. You may not make for yourselves an image in the form of anything in heaven or on earth or in the waters under the earth:

9. நீ அவைகளை நமஸ்கரிக்கவும் சேவிக்கவும் வேண்டாம்; உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தராயிருக்கிற நான் எரிச்சலுள்ள தேவனாயிருந்து, என்னைப் பகைக்கிறவர்களைக் குறித்து பிதாக்களுடைய அக்கிரமத்தைப் பிள்ளைகளிடத்தில் மூன்றாம், நான்காம் தலைமுறைமட்டும் விசாரிக்கிறவராயிருக்கிறேன்.

9. You may not go down on your faces before them or give them worship: for I, the Lord your God, am a God who will not give his honour to another; and I will send punishment on the children for the wrongdoing of their fathers, to the third and fourth generation of my haters;

10. என்னிடத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்து, என் கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களுக்கோ ஆயிரம் தலைமுறைமட்டும் இரக்கஞ்செய்கிறவராயிருக்கிறேன்.

10. And I will have mercy through a thousand generations on those who have love for me and keep my laws.

11. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருடைய நாமத்தை வீணிலே வழங்காதிருப்பாயாக; கர்த்தர் தம்முடைய நாமத்தை வீணிலே வழங்குகிறவனைத் தண்டியாமல் விடார்.

11. You are not to make use of the name of the Lord your God for an evil purpose; whoever takes the Lord's name on his lips for an evil purpose will be judged as a sinner by the Lord.

14. But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; on that day do no work, you or your son or your daughter, or your man-servant or your woman-servant, or your ox or your ass or any of your cattle, or the man from a strange country who is living among you; so that your man-servant and your woman-servant may have rest as well as you.

15. நீ எகிப்து தேசத்தில் அடிமையாயிருந்தாய் என்றும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன்னை அவ்விடத்திலிருந்து வல்லமையுள்ள கரத்தினாலும் ஓங்கிய புயத்தினாலும் புறப்படப்பண்ணினார் என்றும் நினைப்பாயாக; ஆகையால் ஓய்வு நாளை ஆசரிக்க உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டார்.

15. And keep in mind that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the Lord your God took you out of that land by his strong hand and his stretched-out arm: for this reason the Lord has given you orders to keep the Sabbath day.

16. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்திலே உன் நாட்கள் நீடித்திருப்பதற்கும், நீ நன்றாயிருப்பதற்கும், உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, உன் தகப்பனையும் உன் தாயையும் கனம்பண்ணுவாயாக.

16. Give honour to your father and your mother, as you have been ordered by the Lord your God; so that your life may be long and all may be well for you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.

17. Do not put anyone to death without cause.

20. பிறனுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லாதிருப்பாயாக.

20. Do not give false witness against your neighbour;

21. பிறனுடைய மனைவியை இச்சியாதிருப்பாயாக; பிறனுடைய வீட்டையும், அவனுடைய நிலத்தையும், அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரனையும், அவனுடைய வேலைக்காரியையும், அவனுடைய எருதையும், அவனுடைய கழுதையையும், பின்னும் பிறனுக்குள்ள யாதொன்றையும் இச்சியாதிருப்பாயாக என்றார்.

21. Or let your desire be turned to your neighbour's wife, or his house or his field or his man-servant or his woman-servant or his ox or his ass or anything which is your neighbour's.

22. இந்த வார்த்தைகளைக் கர்த்தர் மலையிலே அக்கினியிலும் மேகத்திலும் காரிருளிலும் இருந்து உங்கள் சபையார் எல்லாரோடும் மகா சத்தத்துடனே சொன்னார்; அவைகளோடு ஒன்றும் கூட்டாமல், அவைகளை இரண்டு கற்பலகைகளில் எழுதி, என்னிடத்தில் கொடுத்தார்.

22. These words the Lord said to all of you together on the mountain, out of the heart of the fire, out of the cloud and the dark, with a great voice: and he said no more; he put them in writing on the two stones of the law and gave them to me.

23. மலை அக்கினியாய் எரிகையில் இருளின் நடுவிலிருந்து உண்டான சத்தத்தை நீங்கள் கேட்டபோது, கோத்திரத் தலைவரும் மூப்பருமாகிய நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் என்னிடத்தில் வந்து:

23. And after hearing the voice which came out of the dark while the mountain was burning with fire, all the heads of your tribes and your chiefs came to me,

24. இதோ, நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் நமக்குத் தம்முடைய மகிமையையும் தம்முடைய மகத்துவத்தையும் காண்பித்தார்; அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து உண்டான அவருடைய சத்தத்தையும் கேட்டோம்; தேவன் மனுஷனோடே பேசியும், அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கிறதை இந்நாளிலே கண்டோம்.

24. And said, The Lord has let us see his glory and his power, and his voice has come to us out of the fire: today we have seen that a man may go on living even after hearing the voice of God.

25. இப்பொழுது நாங்கள் சாவானேன்? இந்தப் பெரிய அக்கினி எங்களைப் பட்சிக்குமே; நாங்கள் இன்னும் நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் சத்தத்தைக் கேட்போமாகில் சாவோம்.

25. Why then is death to be our fate? For if the voice of the Lord our God comes to us any more, death will overtake us, and we will be burned up in this great fire.

26. நாங்கள் கேட்டதுபோல, அக்கினியின் நடுவிலிருந்து பேசுகிற ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய சத்தத்தை மாம்சமானவர்களில் யாராவது கேட்டு உயிரோடிருந்தது உண்டோ?

26. For what man is there in all the earth, who, hearing the voice of the living God as we have, out of the heart of the fire, has been kept from death?

27. நீரோ சமீபித்துப்போய், நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்வதையெல்லாம் கேட்டு, நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்வதையெல்லாம் நீரே எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லவேண்டும்; நாங்கள் கேட்டு, அதின்படியே செய்வோம் என்றீர்கள்.

27. Do you go near: and after hearing everything which the Lord our God has to say, give us an account of all he has said to you, and we will give ear, and do it.

28. நீங்கள் என்னோடே பேசுகையில், கர்த்தர் உங்கள் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி; இந்த ஜனங்கள் உன்னோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டேன்; அவர்கள் சொன்னது எல்லாம் நன்றாய்ச் சொன்னார்கள்.

28. Then the Lord, hearing your words to me, said to me, The words which this people have said to you have come to my ears: what they have said is well said.

29. அவர்களும் அவர்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் என்றென்றைக்கும் நன்றாயிருக்கும்படி, அவர்கள் எந்நாளும் எனக்குப் பயந்து, என் கற்பனைகளையெல்லாம் கைக்கொள்வதற்கேற்ற இருதயம் அவர்களுக்கு இருந்தால் நலமாயிருக்கும்.

29. If only they had such a heart in them at all times, so that they might go in fear of me and keep my orders and that it might be well for them and for their children for ever!

30. நீ போய்: உங்கள் கூடாரங்களுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போங்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொல்.

30. Now say to them, Go back to your tents.

31. நீயோ இங்கே என்னிடத்தில் நில்; நான் அவர்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுக்கும் தேசத்தில் அவர்கள் செய்யும்படி நீ அவர்களுக்குப் போதிக்கவேண்டிய சகல கற்பனைகளையும் கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் உனக்குச் சொல்லுவேன் என்றார்.

31. But as for you, keep your place here by me, and I will give you all the orders and the laws and the decisions which you are to make clear to them, so that they may do them in the land which I am giving them for their heritage.

32. உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியே செய்ய சாவதானமாயிருங்கள்; வலதுபுறம் இடதுபுறம் சாயாதிருப்பீர்களாக.

32. Take care, then, to do whatever the Lord your God has given you orders to do; let there be no turning away to the right hand or to the left.

33. நீங்கள் சுதந்தரிக்கும் தேசத்திலே பிழைத்து சுகித்து நீடித்திருக்கும்படி, உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு விதித்த வழிகளெல்லாவற்றிலும் நடக்கக்கடவீர்கள்.

33. Go on walking in the way ordered for you by the Lord your God, so that life may be yours and it may be well for you, and your days may be long in the land of your heritage.
