1. பின்பு நாம் திரும்பி, பாசானுக்குப் போகிற வழியாய்ப் போனோம்; பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓக் தன்னுடைய சகல ஜனங்களோடும் நம்மோடே எதிர்த்து யுத்தம்பண்ணும்படி புறப்பட்டு, எத்ரேயிக்கு வந்தான்.

1. 'Then we turned and proceeded toward Bashan. But Og, king of Bashan, advanced against us with all his people to give battle at Edrei.

2. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் என்னை நோக்கி: அவனுக்குப் பயப்படவேண்டாம்; அவனையும் அவனுடைய ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரையும் அவன் தேசத்தையும் உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்; எஸ்போனிலே குடியிருந்த எமோரியரின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனுக்கு நீ செய்தது போல, அவனுக்கும் செய்வாய் என்றார்.

2. The LORD, however, said to me, 'Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hand with all his people and his land. Do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon.'

3. அப்படியே நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓகையும் அவனுடைய சகல ஜனங்களையும் நம்முடைய கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவனுக்கு ஒருவரும் மீதியாயிராமற்போகுமட்டும் அவனை முறிய அடித்தோம்.

3. And thus the LORD, our God, delivered into our hands Og, king of Bashan, with all his people. We defeated him so completely that we left him no survivor.

4. அக்காலத்திலே அவனுடைய பட்டணங்களையெல்லாம் பிடித்தோம்; அவர்களிடத்தில் நாம் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளாத பட்டணம் இல்லை; பாசானிலிருந்த ஓகின் ராஜ்யமான அறுபது பட்டணங்களுள்ள அர்கோப் தேசம் முழுவதையும் பிடித்தோம்.

4. At that time we captured all his cities, none of them eluding our grasp, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan: sixty cities in all,

5. அந்தப் பட்டணங்களெல்லாம் உயர்ந்த மதில்களாலும் வாசல்களாலும் தாழ்ப்பாள்களாலும் அரணாக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது; அவைகள் அன்றி, மதிலில்லாத பட்டணங்களும் அநேகம்.

5. to say nothing of the great number of unwalled towns. All the cities were fortified with high walls and gates and bars.

6. அவைகளையும் சங்காரம்பண்ணினோம்; நாம் எஸ்போனின் ராஜாவாகிய சீகோனுக்குச் செய்ததுபோல, அந்த எல்லாப் பட்டணங்களிலுமுள்ள புருஷரையும் ஸ்திரீகளையும் பிள்ளைகளையும் சங்காரம்பண்ணினோம்.

6. As we had done to Sihon, king of Heshbon, so also here we doomed all the cities, with their men, women and children;

7. ஆனாலும் பட்டணங்களிலுள்ள ஆஸ்தியையும் சகல மிருகஜீவன்களையும் நமக்கென்று கொள்ளையிட்டோம்.

7. but all the livestock and the loot of each city we took as booty for ourselves.

8. இப்படியே யோர்தானுக்கு இப்புறத்திலுள்ள அர்னோன் நதிதொடங்கி, எர்மோன் மலைவரைக்குமுள்ள தேசத்தை நாம் அக்காலத்தில் எமோரியருடைய இரண்டு ராஜாக்களிடத்திலுமிருந்து பிடித்தோம்.

8. 'And so at that time we took from the two kings of the Amorites beyond the Jordan the territory from the Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon

9. சீதோனியர் எர்மோனைச் சீரியோன் என்கிறார்கள்; எமோரியரோ அதைச் சேனீர் என்கிறார்கள்.

9. (which is called Sirion by the Sidonians and Senir by the Amorites),

10. comprising all the cities of the plateau and all Gilead and all the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan including Salecah and Edrei.

11. மீந்திருந்த இராட்சதரில் பாசானின் ராஜாவாகிய ஓக் என்பவன் மாத்திரம் தப்பியிருந்தான்; இரும்பினாற் செய்த அவனுடைய கட்டில் மனிதருடைய கை முழத்தின்படியே, ஒன்பது முழ நீளமும் நாலு முழ அகலமுமாயிருந்தது; அது அம்மோன் புத்திரருடைய ரப்பாபட்டணத்தில் இருக்கிறதல்லவா?

11. (Og, king of Bashan, was the last remaining survivor of the Rephaim. He had a bed of iron, nine regular cubits long and four wide, which is still preserved in Rabbah of the Ammonites.)

12. அக்காலத்திலே சுதந்தரமாகப் பெற்றுக்கொண்ட தேசத்தை அர்னோன் நதியருகேயுள்ள ஆரோவேர் தொடங்கி, கீலேயாத் மலைநாட்டில் பாதியையும், அதிலிருக்கிற பட்டணங்களையும், ரூபனியருக்கும் காத்தியருக்கும் கொடுத்தேன்.

12. 'When we occupied the land at that time, I gave Reuben and Gad the territory from Aroer, on the edge of the Wadi Arnon, halfway up into the highlands of Gilead, with the cities therein.

13. கீலேயாத்தின் மற்றப் பங்கையும், ஓகின் ராஜ்யமாயிருந்த பாசான் முழுவதையும், மனாசேயின் பாதிக் கோத்திரத்துக்குக் கொடுத்ததும் அன்றி, இராட்சததேசமென்னப்பட்ட பாசானுக்குள்ளான அர்கோப் சீமை யாவையும் கொடுத்தேன்.

13. The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, the whole Argob region, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All this region of Bashan was once called a land of the Rephaim.

14. Jair, a Manassehite clan, took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and called it after his own name Bashan Havvoth-jair, the name it bears today.)

15. To Machir I gave Gilead,

16. and to Reuben and Gad the territory from Gilead to the Wadi Arnon-- including the wadi bed and its banks-- and to the Wadi Jabbok, which is the border of the Ammonites,

17. கின்னரேத் தொடங்கி அஸ்தோத் பிஸ்காவுக்குத் தாழ்வாய்க் கிழக்கே இருக்கிற உப்புக்கடலான சமனான வெளியின் கடல்மட்டும், யோர்தானின் எல்லைக்குள் அடங்கிய சமனான வெளியையும், ரூபனியருக்கும் காத்தியருக்கும் கொடுத்தேன்.

17. as well as the Arabah with the Jordan and its eastern banks from Chinnereth to the Salt Sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.

18. அக்காலத்திலே நான் உங்களை நோக்கி: உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்கு இந்த தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தார்; யுத்தஞ்செய்யத்தக்கவர்களாகிய நீங்கள் எல்லாரும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரான உங்கள் சகோதரருக்கு முன்னே ஆயுதபாணிகளாக நடந்துபோங்கள்.

18. 'At that time I charged them as follows: 'The LORD, your God, has given you this land as your own. But all you troops equipped for battle must cross over in the vanguard of your brother Israelites.

19. உங்கள் மனைவிகளும் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளும் உங்கள் ஆடுமாடுகளும் மாத்திரம் நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த உங்கள் பட்டணங்களில் இருக்கட்டும்; உங்களுக்குத் திரளான ஆடுமாடுகள் உண்டென்று அறிவேன்.

19. Only your wives and children, as well as your livestock, of which I know you have a large number, shall remain behind in the towns I have given you,

20. ஆனாலும் கர்த்தர் உங்களை இளைப்பாறப்பண்ணினதுபோல, உங்கள் சகோதரரையும் இளைப்பாறப்பண்ணி, யோர்தானுக்கு அப்புறத்தில் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் கொடுக்கிற தேசத்தைச் சுதந்தரித்துக்கொள்ளுமட்டும் நீங்கள் இருந்து, பின்பு அவரவர் நான் உங்களுக்குக் கொடுத்த உங்கள் சுதந்தரத்துக்குத் திரும்புவீர்களாக என்றேன்.

20. until the LORD has settled your kinsmen as well, and they too possess the land which the LORD, your God, will give them on the other side of the Jordan. Then you may all return to the possessions I have given you.'

21. அக்காலத்திலே நான் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி: உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் அந்த இரண்டு ராஜாக்களுக்கும் செய்தவைகளையெல்லாம் உன் கண்கள் கண்டது; நீ போய்ச் சேரும் எல்லா ராஜ்யங்களுக்கும் கர்த்தர் அப்படியே செய்வார்.

21. 'It was then that I instructed Joshua, 'Your eyes have seen all that the LORD, your God, has done to both these kings; so, too, will the LORD do to all the kingdoms which you will encounter over there.

22. அவர்களுக்குப் பயப்படீர்களாக; உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் தாமே உங்களுக்காக யுத்தம் பண்ணுவார் என்று சொன்னேன்.

22. Fear them not, for the LORD, your God, will fight for you.'

23. அக்காலத்திலே நான் கர்த்தரை நோக்கி:

23. 'And it was then that I besought the LORD,

24. கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவரே, நீர் உமது அடியேனுக்கு உமது மகத்துவத்தையும் உமது வல்லமையுள்ள கரத்தையும் காண்பிக்கத் தொடங்கினீர்; வானத்திலும் பூமியிலும் உம்முடைய கிரியைகளுக்கும் உம்முடைய வல்லமைகளுக்கும் ஒப்பாகச் செய்யத்தக்க தேவன் யார்?

24. 'O Lord GOD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and might. For what god in heaven or on earth can perform deeds as mighty as yours?

25. நான் கடந்துபோய் யோர்தானுக்கு அப்புறத்திலுள்ள அந்த நல்ல தேசத்தையும், அந்த நல்ல மலையையும், லீபனோனையும் பார்க்கும்படி உத்தரவு கொடுத்தருளும் என்று வேண்டிக்கொண்டேன்.

25. Ah, let me cross over and see this good land beyond the Jordan, this fine hill country, and the Lebanon!'

26. கர்த்தரோ உங்கள் நிமித்தம் என்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு, எனக்குச் செவிகொடாமல், என்னை நோக்கி: போதும், இனி இந்தக் காரியத்தைக்குறித்து என்னோடே பேசவேண்டாம்.

26. But the LORD was angry with me on your account and would not hear me. 'Enough!' the LORD said to me. 'Speak to me no more of this.

27. நீ பிஸ்காவின் கொடுமுடியில் ஏறி, உன் கண்களை மேற்கிலும் வடக்கிலும் தெற்கிலும் கிழக்கிலும் ஏறெடுத்து, உன் கண்களினாலே அதைப் பார்; இந்த யோர்தானை நீ கடந்து போவதில்லை.

27. Go up to the top of Pisgah and look out to the west, and to the north, and to the south, and to the east. Look well, for you shall not cross this Jordan.

28. நீ யோசுவாவுக்குக் கட்டளை கொடுத்து, அவனைத் திடப்படுத்திப் பலப்படுத்து; அவன் இந்த ஜனங்களுக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோய், அவனே நீ காணும் தேசத்தை அவர்களுக்குப் பங்கிட்டுக்கொடுப்பான் என்றார்.

28. Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he shall cross at the head of this people and shall put them in possession of the land you are to see.'

29. This was while we were in the ravine opposite Beth-peor.
