1. கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

1. The LORD spoke to Moses,

2. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் நிமித்தம் மீதியானியரிடத்தில் பழிவாங்குவாயாக; அதன் பின்பு உன் ஜனத்தாரிடத்தில் சேர்க்கப்படுவாய் என்றார்.

2. 'Execute vengeance for the Israelites against the Midianites. After that, you will be gathered to your people.'

3. அப்பொழுது மோசே ஜனங்களை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் நிமித்தம் மீதியானியரிடத்தில் பழிவாங்கும்பொருட்டு, உங்களில் அவர்கள்மேல் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போகத்தக்கதாக மனிதரைப் பிரித்தெடுங்கள்.

3. So Moses spoke to the people, 'Equip some of your men for war. They will go against Midian to inflict the LORD's vengeance on them.

4. இஸ்ரவேலுடைய எல்லாக் கோத்திரங்களிலும் ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரத்தில் ஆயிரம்பேரை யுத்தத்திற்கு அனுப்பவேண்டும் என்றான்.

4. Send 1,000 men to war from each Israelite tribe.'

5. அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேலராகிய அநேகம் ஆயிரங்களில், ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரத்தில் ஆயிரமாயிரம் பேராகப் பன்னீராயிரம்பேர் யுத்தசன்னத்தராய் நிறுத்தப்பட்டார்கள்.

5. So 1,000 were recruited from each Israelite tribe out of the thousands in Israel-- 12,000 equipped for war.

6. மோசே அவர்களையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரின் குமாரன் பினெகாசையும் யுத்தத்திற்கு அனுப்புகையில், அவன் கையிலே பரிசுத்த தட்டுமுட்டுகளையும், தொனிக்கும் பூரிகைகளையும் கொடுத்து அனுப்பினான்.

6. Moses sent 1,000 from each tribe to war. They went with Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest, in whose care were the holy objects and signal trumpets.

7. They waged war against Midian, as the LORD had commanded Moses, and killed every male.

8. அவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோட்டதும் அன்றி, மீதியானியரின் ஐந்து ராஜாக்களாகிய ஏவி, ரேக்கேம், சூர், ஊர், ரேபா என்பவர்களையும் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள். பேயோரின் குமாரனாகிய பிலேயாமையும் பட்டயத்தினாலே கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

8. Along with the others slain by them, they killed the Midianite kings-- Evi, Rekem, Zur, Hur, and Reba, the five kings of Midian. They also killed Balaam son of Beor with the sword.

9. அன்றியும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் மீதியானியரின் ஸ்திரீகளையும் குழந்தைகளையும் சிறைபிடித்து, அவர்களுடைய மிருகஜீவன்களாகிய ஆடுமாடுகள் யாவையும், மற்ற ஆஸ்திகள் யாவையும் கொள்ளையிட்டு,

9. The Israelites took the Midianite women and their children captive, and they plundered all their cattle, flocks, and property.

10. Then they burned all the cities where the Midianites lived, as well as all their encampments,

11. தாங்கள் கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருளையும் தாங்கள் பிடித்த நரஜீவன் மிருகஜீவன் அனைத்தையும் சேர்த்து,

11. and took away all the spoils of war and the captives, both human and animal.

12. They brought the prisoners, animals, and spoils of war to Moses, Eleazar the priest, and the Israelite community at the camp on the plains of Moab by the Jordan [across from] Jericho.

13. மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் சபையின் பிரபுக்கள் எல்லாரும் அவர்களைச் சந்திக்கப் பாளயத்திற்கு வெளியே புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.

13. Moses, Eleazar the priest, and all the leaders of the community went to meet them outside the camp.

14. அப்பொழுது மோசே யுத்தத்திலிருந்து வந்த ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரும், நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவருமாகிய சேனாபதிகள்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு,

14. But Moses became furious with the officers, the commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, who were returning from the military campaign.

15. அவர்களை நோக்கி: ஸ்திரீகள் எல்லாரையும் உயிரோடே விட்டுவிட்டீர்களா?

15. Have you let every female live?' he asked them.

16. பேயோரின் சங்கதியிலே பிலேயாமின் ஆலோசனையினால் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாய்த் துரோகம்பண்ணக் காரணமாயிருந்தவர்கள் இவர்கள்தானே; அதினால் கர்த்தரின் சபையிலே வாதையும் நேரிட்டதே.

16. Yet they are the ones who, at Balaam's advice, incited the Israelites to unfaithfulness against the LORD in the Peor incident, so that the plague came against the LORD's community.

17. ஆகையால் குழந்தைகளில் எல்லா ஆண்பிள்ளைகளையும், புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறிந்த எல்லா ஸ்திரீகளையும் கொன்றுபோடுங்கள்.

17. So now, kill all the male children and kill every woman who has had sexual relations with a man,

18. ஸ்திரீகளில் புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறியாத எல்லாப் பெண்பிள்ளைகளையும் உங்களுக்காக உயிரோடே வையுங்கள்.

18. but keep alive for yourselves all the young females who have not had sexual relations.

19. பின்பு நீங்கள் ஏழுநாள் பாளயத்திற்குப் புறம்பே தங்குங்கள்; நரஜீவனைக் கொன்றவர்களும். வெட்டுண்டவர்களைத் தொட்டவர்களுமாகிய நீங்கள் யாவரும் மூன்றாம் நாளிலும் ஏழாம் நாளிலும் உங்களையும் உங்களால் சிறைபிடிக்கப்பட்டவர்களையும் சுத்திகரித்து,

19. You are to remain outside the camp for seven days. All of you and your prisoners who have killed a person or touched the dead are to purify yourselves on the third day and the seventh day.

20. அந்தப்படியே எல்லா வஸ்திரத்தையும், தோலால் செய்த கருவிகளையும், வெள்ளாட்டுமயிரினால் நெய்தவைகளையும், மரச்சாமான்களையும் சுத்திகரிக்கக்கடவீர்கள் என்றான்.

20. Also purify everything: garments, leather goods, things made of goat hair, and every article of wood.'

21. ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போய்வந்த படைவீரரை நோக்கி: கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட விதிப்பிரமாணம் என்னவென்றால்:

21. Then Eleazar the priest said to the soldiers who had gone to battle, 'This is the legal statute the LORD commanded Moses:

22. அக்கினிக்கு நிற்கத்தக்கவைகளாகிய பொன், வெள்ளி, வெண்கலம், இரும்பு, தகரம், ஈயம் ஆகிய இவைகளெல்லாம் சுத்தமாகும்படிக்கு,

22. Only the gold, silver, bronze, iron, tin, and lead--

23. அவைகளை அக்கினியிலே போட்டெடுக்கக்கடவீர்கள்; தீட்டுக்கழிக்கும் தண்ணீராலும் அவைகள் சுத்திகரிக்கப்படவேண்டும்; அக்கினிக்கு நிற்கத்தகாதவைகளையெல்லாம் தண்ணீரினால் சுத்தம் பண்ணக்கடவீர்கள்.

23. everything that can withstand fire-- put through fire, and it will be clean. It must still be purified with the purification water. Anything that cannot withstand fire, put through the water.

24. ஏழாம் நாளில் உங்கள் வஸ்திரங்களைத் தோய்க்கவேண்டும்; அப்பொழுது சுத்தமாயிருப்பீர்கள்; பின்பு நீங்கள் பாளயத்திற்குள் வரலாம் என்றான்.

24. On the seventh day wash your clothes, and you will be clean. After that you may enter the camp.'

25. கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

25. The LORD told Moses,

26. பிடித்துக்கொண்டு வரப்பட்ட மனிதரையும் மிருகங்களையும் நீயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் சபையினுடைய பிதாக்களாகிய தலைவரும் தொகை பார்த்து,

26. 'You, Eleazar the priest, and the family leaders of the community are to take a count of what was captured, human and animal.

27. கொள்ளையிடப்பட்டதை இரண்டு பங்காகப் பங்கிட்டு, யுத்தத்திற்குப் படையெடுத்துப்போனவர்களுக்கும் சபையனைத்திற்கும் கொடுங்கள்.

27. Then divide the captives between the troops who went out to war and the entire community.

28. மேலும் யுத்தத்திற்குப் போன படைவீரரிடத்தில் கர்த்தருக்காக மனிதரிலும் மாடுகளிலும் கழுதைகளிலும் ஆடுகளிலும் ஐந்நூற்றிற்கு ஒரு பிராணி வீதமாக பகுதி வாங்கி,

28. Set aside a tribute for the LORD from what belongs to the fighting men who went out to war: one out of [every] 500 humans, cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats.

29. அவர்களுடைய பாதிப்பங்கில் எடுத்து, கர்த்தருக்கு ஏறெடுத்துப்படைக்கும் படைப்பாக ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாருக்கு கொடுக்கவேண்டும்.

29. Take [the tribute] from their half and give [it] to Eleazar the priest as a contribution to the LORD.

30. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் பாதிப்பங்கிலோ மனிதரிலும், மாடுகள் கழுதைகள் ஆடுகளாகிய சகலவித மிருகங்களிலும், ஐம்பதிற்கு ஒன்று வீதமாய் வாங்கி, அவைகளைக் கர்த்தருடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தின் காவலைக்காக்கும் லேவியருக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றார்.

30. From the Israelites' half, take one out of every 50 from the people, cattle, donkeys, sheep, and goats, all the livestock, and give them to the Levites who perform the duties of the LORD's tabernacle.'

31. கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் செய்தார்கள்.

31. So Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the LORD commanded Moses.

32. படைவீரர் கொள்ளையிட்ட பொருளில், ஆறுலட்சத்து எழுபத்தையாயிரம் ஆடுகளும்,

32. The captives remaining from the plunder the army had taken totaled: 675,000 sheep and goats,

33. எழுபத்தீராயிரம் மாடுகளும்,

33. 72,000 cattle,

34. அறுபத்தோராயிரம் கழுதைகளும் மீதியாயிருந்தது.

34. 61,000 donkeys,

35. புருஷசம்யோகத்தை அறியாத ஸ்திரீகளில் முப்பத்தீராயிரம்பேர் இருந்தார்கள்.

35. and 32,000 people, all the females who had not had sexual relations with a man.

36. யுத்தஞ்செய்யப் போனவர்களுக்குக் கிடைத்த பாதிப்பங்கின் தொகையாவது: ஆடுகள் மூன்றுலட்சத்து முப்பத்தேழாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு.

36. The half portion for those who went out to war numbered: 337,500 sheep and goats,

37. இந்த ஆடுகளிலே கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தது அறுநூற்று எழுபத்தைந்து.

37. and the tribute to the LORD was 675 from the sheep and goats;

38. மாடுகள் முப்பத்தாறாயிரம்; அவைகளில் கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தது எழுபத்திரண்டு.

38. from the 36,000 cattle, the tribute to the LORD was 72;

39. கழுதைகள் முப்பதினாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு; அவைகளில் கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தது அறுபத்தொன்று.

39. from the 30,500 donkeys, the tribute to the LORD was 61;

40. நரஜீவன்கள் பதினாறாயிரம்பேர்; அவர்களில் கர்த்தருக்குப் பகுதியாக வந்தவர்கள் முப்பத்திரண்டு பேர்.

40. and from the 16,000 people, the tribute to the LORD was 32 people.

41. கர்த்தருக்கு ஏறெடுத்துப் படைக்கும் அந்தப் பகுதியை, மோசே கர்த்தர் தனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே. ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரிடத்தில் கொடுத்தான்.

41. Moses gave the tribute to Eleazar the priest as a contribution for the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

42. யுத்தம்பண்ணின பேர்களுக்கும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கும் மோசே பாதி பாதியாகப் பங்கிட்டதின்படியே சபையாருக்கு வந்த பாதிப்பங்காவது:

42. From the Israelites' half, which Moses separated from the men who fought,

43. ஆடுகளில் மூன்றுலட்சத்து முப்பத்தேழாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு,

43. the community's half was: 337,500 sheep and goats,

44. மாடுகளில் முப்பத்தாறாயிரம்,

44. 36,000 cattle,

45. கழுதைகளில் முப்பதினாயிரத்து ஐந்நூறு,

45. 30,500 donkeys,

46. நரஜீவன்களில் பதினாயிரம்பேருமே.

46. and 16,000 people.

47. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் பாதிப்பங்குக்கு வந்த இந்த நரஜீவன்களிலும் மிருகங்களிலும் மோசே ஐம்பதுக்கு ஒன்று வீதமாக, எடுத்து அவைகளைக் கர்த்தர் தனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடியே, கர்த்தருடைய வாசஸ்தலத்தின் காவலைக் காக்கிற லேவியருக்குக் கொடுத்தான்.

47. Moses took one out of [every] 50, selected from the people and the livestock from the Israelites' half. He gave them to the Levites who perform the duties of the LORD's tabernacle, as the LORD had commanded him.

48. பின்பு ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரும் நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவருமான சேனாபதிகள் மோசேயினிடத்தில் வந்து,

48. The officers who were over the thousands of the army, the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, approached Moses

49. உமது ஊழியக்காரராகிய நாங்கள் எங்கள் கையின் கீழிருக்கிற யுத்தமனிதரைத் தொகை பார்த்தோம்; அவர்களுக்குள்ளே ஒரு ஆளும் குறையவில்லை.

49. and told him, 'Your servants have taken a census of the fighting men under our command, and not one of us is missing.

50. ஆகையால், கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் எங்கள் ஆத்துமாக்களுக்காகப் பாவநிவிர்த்தி செய்யும்பொருட்டு, எங்களுக்குக் கிடைத்த பொற்பணிகளாகிய பாதசரங்களையும், அஸ்தகடகங்களையும், மோதிரங்களையும், காதணிகளையும், காப்புகளையும் கர்த்தருக்குக் காணிக்கையாகக் கொண்டுவந்தோம் என்றார்கள்.

50. So we have presented to the LORD an offering of the gold articles each man found-- armlets, bracelets, rings, earrings, and necklaces-- to make atonement for ourselves before the LORD.'

51. அப்பொழுது மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் சகலவித வேலைப்பாடான பணிதிகளான அந்தப் பொன்னாபரணங்களை அவர்களிடத்தில் வாங்கினார்கள்.

51. Moses and Eleazar the priest received from them all the articles made out of gold.

52. இப்படி ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களாலும் நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களாலும் கர்த்தருக்கு ஏறெடுத்துப் படைக்கும் காணிக்கையாகச் செலுத்தப்பட்ட பொன் முழுவதும் பதினாறாயிரத்து எழுநூற்று ஐம்பது சேக்கல் நிறையாயிருந்தது.

52. All the gold of the contribution they offered to the Lord, from the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, was 420 pounds.

53. யுத்தத்திற்குப் போன மனிதர் ஒவ்வொருவரும் தங்கள் தங்களுக்காக் கொள்ளையிட்டிருந்தார்கள்.

53. Each of the soldiers had taken plunder for himself.

54. அந்தப் பொன்னை மோசேயும் ஆசாரியனாகிய எலெயாசாரும் ஆயிரம் பேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களின் கையிலும், நூறு பேருக்குத் தலைவரானவர்களின் கையிலும் வாங்கி, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு ஞாபகக்குறியாக ஆசரிப்புக் கூடாரத்திலே கர்த்தருடைய சந்நிதியில் கொண்டுவந்து வைத்தார்கள்.

54. Moses and Eleazar the priest received the gold from the commanders of thousands and of hundreds and brought it into the tent of meeting as a memorial for the Israelites before the LORD.
