1. பின்பு கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி: ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய ஆசாரியர்களில் ஒருவனும் தன் ஜனத்தாரில் இறந்துபோன யாதொருவருக்காகத் தங்களைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்தலாகாதென்று அவர்களோடே சொல்.

1. THE LORD said to Moses, Speak to the priests [exclusive of the high priest], the sons of Aaron, and say to them that none of them shall defile himself for the dead among his people [by touching a corpse or assisting in preparing it for burial],

2. தன் தாயும், தன் தகப்பனும், தன் குமாரனும், தன் குமாரத்தியும், தன் சகோதரனும்,

2. Except for his near [blood] kin, for his mother, father, son, daughter, brother,

3. புருஷனுக்கு வாழ்க்கைப்படாமல் தன்னிடத்திலிருக்கிற கன்னியாஸ்திரீயான தன் சகோதரியுமாகிய தனக்கு நெருங்கிய இனமான இவர்களுடைய சாவுக்காகத் தீட்டுப்படலாம்.

3. And for his sister, a virgin, who is near to him because she has had no husband; for her he may be defiled.

4. தன் ஜனத்தாரில் பெரியவனாகிய அவன் வேறொருவருக்காகவும் தன்னைப் பரிசுத்தக்குலைச்சலாக்கித் தீட்டுப்படுத்தலாகாது.

4. He shall not even defile himself, being a [bereaved] husband [his wife not being his blood kin] or being a chief man among his people, and so profane himself.

5. அவர்கள் தங்கள் தலையை மொட்டையடிக்காமலும், தங்கள் தாடியின் ஓரங்களைச் சிரைத்துப்போடாமலும், தங்கள் தேகத்தைக் கீறிக்கொள்ளாமலும் இருப்பார்களாக.

5. The priests [like the other Israelite men] shall not shave the crown of their heads or clip off the corners of their beard or make any cuttings in their flesh.

6. தங்கள் தேவனுடைய நாமத்தைப் பரிசுத்தக் குலைச்சலாக்காமல் அவருக்கேற்ற பரிசுத்தராயிருப்பார்களாக; அவர்கள் கர்த்தரின் தகனபலிகளையும் தங்கள் தேவனுடைய அப்பத்தையும் செலுத்துகிறவர்களாதலால் பரிசுத்தராயிருக்கவேண்டும்.

6. They shall be holy to their God and not profane the name of their God; for they offer the offerings made by fire to the Lord, the bread of their God; therefore they shall be holy.

7. அவர்கள் தங்கள் தேவனுக்குப் பரிசுத்தமானவர்கள், ஆகையால் வேசியையாகிலும் கற்புக்குலைந்தவளையாகிலும் விவாகம்பண்ணார்களாக; தன் புருஷனாலே தள்ளப்பட்ட ஸ்திரீயையும் விவாகம்பண்ணார்களாக.

7. They shall not take a wife who is a harlot or polluted or profane or divorced, for [the priest] is holy to his God.

8. அவன் தேவனுடைய அப்பத்தைச் செலுத்துகிறபடியால் நீ அவனைப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்தவேண்டும்; உங்களைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்குகிற கர்த்தராகிய நான் பரிசுத்தராயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவனும் உனக்கு முன்பாகப் பரிசுத்தனாயிருப்பானாக.

8. You shall consecrate him therefore, for he offers the bread of your God; he shall be holy to you, for I the Lord Who sanctifies you am holy.

9. ஆசாரியனுடைய குமாரத்தி, வேசித்தனம்பண்ணி, தன்னைப் பரிசுத்தக்குலைச்சலாக்கினால், அவள் தன் தகப்பனையும் பரிசுத்தக் குலைச்சலாக்குகிறாள்; அவள் அக்கினியிலே சுட்டெரிக்கப்படக்கடவள்.

9. The daughter of any priest who profanes herself by playing the harlot profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire [after being stoned]. [Josh. 7:15, 25.]

10. தன் சகோதரருக்குள்ளே பிரதான ஆசாரியனாக தன் சிரசில் அபிஷேகதைலம் வார்க்கப்பட்டவனும், அவனுக்குரிய வஸ்திரங்களைத் தரிக்கும்படி பிரதிஷ்டை பண்ணப்பட்டவனுமாயிருக்கிறவன் எவனோ, அவன் தன் பாகையை எடுக்காமலும், தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொள்ளாமலும்,

10. But he who is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured and who is consecrated to put on the [sacred] garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose or rend his clothes [in mourning],

11. பிரேதம் கிடக்கும் இடத்தில் போகாமலும், தன் தகப்பனுக்காகவும் தன் தாய்க்காகவும் தன்னைத் தீட்டுப்படுத்திக்கொள்ளாமலும்,

11. Neither shall he go in where any dead body lies nor defile himself [by doing so, even] for his father or for his mother;

12. பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்திலிருந்து புறப்படாமலும் தன் தேவனுடைய பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலத்தைப் பரிசுத்தக் குலைச்சலாக்காமலும் இருப்பானாக; அவனுடைய தேவனின் அபிஷேகதைலம் என்னும் கிரீடம் அவன்மேல் இருக்கிறதே: நான் கர்த்தர்.

12. Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary nor desecrate or make ceremonially unclean the sanctuary of his God, for the crown or consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am the Lord.

13. கன்னிகையாயிருக்கிற பெண்ணை அவன் விவாகம்பண்ணவேண்டும்.

13. He shall take a wife in her virginity.

14. விதவையையானாலும் தள்ளப்பட்டவளையானாலும் கற்புக்குலைந்தவளையானாலும் வேசியையானாலும் விவாகம்பண்ணாமல், தன் ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே ஒரு கன்னிகையை விவாகம்பண்ணக்கடவன்.

14. A widow or a divorced woman or a woman who is polluted or profane or a harlot, these he shall not marry, but he shall take as his wife a virgin of his own people, [I Tim. 3:2-7; Tit. 1:7-9.]

15. அவன் தன் வித்தைத் தன் ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே பரிசுத்தக் குலைச்சலாக்காமல் இருப்பானாக; நான் அவனைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்குகிற கர்த்தர் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

15. That he may not profane or dishonor his children among his people; for I the Lord do sanctify the high priest.

16. பின்னும் கர்த்தர் மோசேயை நோக்கி:

16. And the Lord said to Moses,

17. நீ ஆரோனோடே சொல்லவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: உன் சந்ததியாருக்குள்ளே அங்கவீனமுள்ளவன் தலைமுறைதோறும் தேவனுடைய அப்பத்தைச் செலுத்தும்படி சேரலாகாது.

17. Say to Aaron, Any one of your sons in their successive generations who has any blemish, let him not come near to offer the bread of his God.

18. அங்கவீனமுள்ள ஒருவனும் அணுகலாகாது; குருடனானாலும், சப்பாணியானாலும், குறுகின அல்லது நீண்ட அவயவமுள்ளவனானாலும்,

18. For no man who has a blemish shall approach [God's altar to serve as priest], a man blind or lame, or he who has a disfigured face or a limb too long,

19. காலொடிந்தவனானாலும், கையொடிந்தவனானாலும்,

19. Or who has a fractured foot or hand,

20. கூனனானாலும், குள்ளனானாலும், பூவிழுந்த கண்ணனானாலும், சொறியனானாலும், அசறுள்ளவனானாலும், விதை நசுங்கினவனானாலும் அணுகலாகாது.

20. Or is a hunchback, or a dwarf, or has a defect in his eye, or has scurvy or itch, or scabs or skin trouble, or has damaged testicles.

21. ஆசாரியனாகிய ஆரோனின் சந்ததியாரில் அங்கவீனமுள்ள ஒருவனும் கர்த்தரின் தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்தச் சேரலாகாது; அவன் அங்கவீனமுள்ளவனாகையால், அவன் தேவனுடைய அப்பத்தைச் செலுத்தச் சேரலாகாது.

21. No man of the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a blemish and is disfigured or deformed shall come near [the altar] to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire. He has a blemish; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.

22. அவன் தன் தேவனுடைய அப்பமாகிய மகா பரிசுத்தமானவைகளிலும் மற்ற பரிசுத்தமானவைகளிலும் புசிக்கலாம்.

22. He may eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy and of the holy things,

23. ஆனாலும் அவன் அங்கவீனமுள்ளவனாகையால், அவன் என் பரிசுத்த ஸ்தலங்களைப் பரிசுத்தக் குலைச்சலாக்காதபடிக்குத் திரைக்குள்ளே போகாமலும் பலிபீடத்தண்டையில் சேராமலும் இருப்பானாக; நான் அவர்களைப் பரிசுத்தமாக்குகிற கர்த்தர் என்று சொல் என்றார்.

23. But he shall not come within the veil or come near the altar [of incense], because he has a blemish, that he may not desecrate and make unclean My sanctuaries and hallowed things; for I the Lord do sanctify them. [Heb. 7:28.]

24. மோசே இவைகளை ஆரோனோடும் அவன் குமாரரோடும் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அனைவரோடும் சொன்னான்.

24. And Moses told it to Aaron and to his sons and to all the Israelites.
