1. புத்தியுள்ள ஸ்திரீ தன் வீட்டைக் கட்டுகிறாள்; புத்தியில்லாத ஸ்திரீயோ தன் கைகளினால் அதை இடித்துப்போடுகிறாள்.

1. The wise woman builds her house, but the foolish tears it down with her own hands.

2. நிதானமாய் நடக்கிறவன் கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிறான்; தன் வழிகளில் தாறுமாறானவனோ அவரை அலட்சியம்பண்ணுகிறான்.

2. Those who walk uprightly fear the LORD, but one who is devious in conduct despises him.

3. மூடன் வாயிலே அவன் அகந்தைக்கேற்ற மிலாறுண்டு; ஞானவான்களின் உதடுகளோ அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்றும்.

3. The talk of fools is a rod for their backs, but the lips of the wise preserve them.

4. எருதுகளில்லாத இடத்தில் களஞ்சியம் வெறுமையாயிருக்கும்; காளைகளின் பெலத்தினாலோ மிகுந்த வரத்துண்டு.

4. Where there are no oxen, there is no grain; abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.

5. மெய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரன் பொய்சொல்லான்; பொய்ச்சாட்சிக்காரனோ பொய்களை ஊதுகிறான்.

5. A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness breathes out lies.

6. பரியாசக்காரன் ஞானத்தைத் தேடியும் கண்டுபிடியான்; புத்தியுள்ளவனுக்கோ அறிவு லேசாய்வரும்.

6. A scoffer seeks wisdom in vain, but knowledge is easy for one who understands.

7. மூடனுடைய முகத்துக்கு விலகிப்போ; அறிவுள்ள உதடுகளை அங்கே காணாய்.

7. Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not find words of knowledge.

8. தன் வழியைச் சிந்தித்துக்கொள்வது விவேகியின் ஞானம்; மூடர்களுடைய வஞ்சனையோ மூடத்தனம்.

8. It is the wisdom of the clever to understand where they go, but the folly of fools misleads.

9. மூடர் பாவத்தைக்குறித்துப் பரியாசம்பண்ணுகிறார்கள்; நீதிமான்களுக்குள்ளே தயை உண்டு.

9. Fools mock at the guilt offering, but the upright enjoy God's favor.

10. இருதயத்தின் கசப்பு இருதயத்திற்கே தெரியும்; அதின் மகிழ்ச்சிக்கு அந்நியன் உடந்தையாகான்.

10. The heart knows its own bitterness, and no stranger shares its joy.

11. துன்மார்க்கனுடைய வீடு அழியும்; செம்மையானவனுடைய கூடாரமோ செழிக்கும்.

11. The house of the wicked is destroyed, but the tent of the upright flourishes.

12. மனுஷனுக்குச் செம்மையாய்த் தோன்றுகிற வழி உண்டு; அதின் முடிவோ மரணவழிகள்.

12. There is a way that seems right to a person, but its end is the way to death.

13. நகைப்பிலும் மனதுக்குத் துக்கமுண்டு; அந்த மகிழ்ச்சியின் முடிவு சஞ்சலம்.

13. Even in laughter the heart is sad, and the end of joy is grief.

14. பின்வாங்கும் இருதயமுள்ளவன் தன் வழிகளிலேயும், நல்ல மனுஷனோ தன்னிலே தானும் திருப்தியடைவான்.

14. The perverse get what their ways deserve, and the good, what their deeds deserve.

15. பேதையானவன் எந்த வார்த்தையையும் நம்புவான்; விவேகியோ தன் நடையின்மேல் கவனமாயிருக்கிறான்.

15. The simple believe everything, but the clever consider their steps.

16. ஞானமுள்ளவன் பயந்து தீமைக்கு விலகுகிறான்; மதியீனனோ மூர்க்கங்கொண்டு துணிகரமாயிருக்கிறான்.

16. The wise are cautious and turn away from evil, but the fool throws off restraint and is careless.

17. முற்கோபி மதிகேட்டைச் செய்வான்; துர்ச்சிந்தனைக்காரன் வெறுக்கப்படுவான்.

17. One who is quick-tempered acts foolishly, and the schemer is hated.

18. பேதையர் புத்தியீனத்தைச் சுதந்தரிக்கிறார்கள்; விவேகிகளோ அறிவினால் முடிசூட்டப்படுகிறார்கள்.

18. The simple are adorned with folly, but the clever are crowned with knowledge.

19. தீயோர் நல்லோருக்கு முன்பாகவும், துன்மார்க்கர் நீதிமான்களுடைய வாசற்படிகளிலும் குனிவதுண்டு.

19. The evil bow down before the good, the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20. தரித்திரன் தனக்கடுத்தவனாலும் பகைக்கப்படுகிறான்; ஐசுவரியவானுக்கோ அநேக சிநேகிதருண்டு.

20. The poor are disliked even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends.

21. பிறனை அவமதிக்கிறவன் பாவஞ்செய்கிறான்; தரித்திரனுக்கு இரங்குகிறவனோ பாக்கியமடைவான்.

21. Those who despise their neighbors are sinners, but happy are those who are kind to the poor.

22. தீமையை யோசிக்கிறவர்கள் தவறுகிறார்களல்லவோ? நன்மையை யோசிக்கிறவர்களுக்கோ கிருபையும் சத்தியமுமுண்டு.

22. Do they not err that plan evil? Those who plan good find loyalty and faithfulness.

23. சகல பிரயாசத்தினாலும் பிரயோஜனமுண்டு; உதடுகளின் பேச்சோ வறுமையை மாத்திரம் தரும்.

23. In all toil there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

24. ஞானிகளுக்கு முடி அவர்கள் செல்வம்; மூடரின் மதியீனம் மூடத்தனமே.

24. The crown of the wise is their wisdom, but folly is the garland of fools.

25. மெய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லுகிறவன் உயிர்களை இரட்சிக்கிறான்; வஞ்சனைக்காரனோ பொய்களை ஊதுகிறான்.

25. A truthful witness saves lives, but one who utters lies is a betrayer.

26. கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுகிறவனுக்குத் திடநம்பிக்கை உண்டு; அவன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் அடைக்கலம் கிடைக்கும்.

26. In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and one's children will have a refuge.

27. கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படுதல் ஜீவஊற்று; அதினால் மரணக்கண்ணிகளுக்குத் தப்பலாம்.

27. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, so that one may avoid the snares of death.

28. ஜனத்திரட்சி ராஜாவின் மகிமை; ஜனக்குறைவு தலைவனின் முறிவு.

28. The glory of a king is a multitude of people; without people a prince is ruined.

29. நீடிய சாந்தமுள்ளவன் மகாபுத்திமான்; முற்கோபியோ புத்தியீனத்தை விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறான்.

29. Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but one who has a hasty temper exalts folly.

30. சொஸ்தமனம் உடலுக்கு ஜீவன்; பொறாமையோ எலும்புருக்கி.

30. A tranquil mind gives life to the flesh, but passion makes the bones rot.

31. தரித்திரனை ஒடுக்குகிறவன் அவனை உண்டாக்கினவரை நிந்திக்கிறான்; தரித்திரனுக்குத் தயைசெய்கிறவனோ அவரைக் கனம்பண்ணுகிறான்;

31. Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker, but those who are kind to the needy honor him.

32. துன்மார்க்கன் தன் தீமையிலே வாரிக்கொள்ளப்படுவான்; நீதிமானோ தன் மரணத்திலே நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவன்.

32. The wicked are overthrown by their evildoing, but the righteous find a refuge in their integrity.

33. புத்திமானுடைய இருதயத்தில் ஞானம் தங்கும்; மதியீனரிடத்தில் உள்ளதோ வெளிப்படும்.

33. Wisdom is at home in the mind of one who has understanding, but it is not known in the heart of fools.

34. நீதி ஜனத்தை உயர்த்தும்; பாவமோ எந்த ஜனத்துக்கும் இகழ்ச்சி.

34. Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

35. ராஜாவின் தயை விவேகமுள்ள பணிவிடைக்காரன் மேலிருக்கும்; அவனுடைய கோபமோ இலச்சையுண்டாக்குகிறவன் மேலிருக்கும்.

35. A servant who deals wisely has the king's favor, but his wrath falls on one who acts shamefully.
