1. பலவானே, பொல்லாப்பில் ஏன் பெருமைபாராட்டுகிறாய்? தேவனுடைய கிருபை எந்நாளுமுள்ளது.

1. To the Chief Musician. A skillful song, or a didactic or reflective poem. [A Psalm] of David, when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, David has come to the house of Ahimelech. WHY BOAST you of mischief done against the loving-kindness of God [and the godly], O mighty [sinful] man, day after day?

2. நீ கேடுகளைச் செய்ய எத்தனம்பண்ணுகிறாய், கபடுசெய்யும் உன் நாவு தீட்டப்பட்ட சவரகன் கத்தியைப்போல் இருக்கிறது.

2. Your tongue devises wickedness; it is like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

3. நன்மையைப்பார்க்கிலும் தீமையையும், யாதார்த்தம் பேசுகிறதைப்பார்க்கிலும் பொய்யையும் விரும்புகிறாய். (சேலா)

3. You love evil more than good, and lying rather than to speak righteousness, justice, and right. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

4. கபடமுள்ள நாவே, சங்கரிக்கும் சகல வார்த்தைகளையும் நீ விரும்புகிறாய்;

4. You love all destroying and devouring words, O deceitful tongue.

5. தேவன் உன்னை என்றென்றைக்கும் இராதபடி அழித்துப்போடுவார்; அவர் உன்னைப் பிடித்து, உன் வாசஸ்தலத்திலிருந்து பிடுங்கி, நீ ஜீவனுள்ளோர் தேசத்தில் இராதபடிக்கு உன்னை நிர்மூலமாக்குவார். (சேலா)

5. God will likewise break you down and destroy you forever; He will lay hold of you and pluck you out of your tent and uproot you from the land of the living. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

6. நீதிமான்கள் அதைக்கண்டு பயந்து, அவனைப்பார்த்து நகைத்து:

6. The [uncompromisingly] righteous also shall see [it] and be in reverent fear and awe, but about you they will [scoffingly] laugh, saying,

7. இதோ, தேவனைத் தன் பெலனாக எண்ணாமல், தன் செல்வப்பெருக்கத்தை நம்பி, தன் தீவினையில் பலத்துக்கொண்ட மனுஷன் இவன்தான் என்பார்கள்.

7. See, this is the man who made not God his strength (his stronghold and high tower) but trusted in and confidently relied on the abundance of his riches, seeking refuge and security for himself through his wickedness.

8. நானோ தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தில் பச்சையான ஒலிவமரத்தைப் போலிருக்கிறேன், தேவனுடைய கிருபையை என்றென்றைக்கும் நம்பியிருக்கிறேன்.

8. But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God; I trust in and confidently rely on the loving-kindness and the mercy of God forever and ever.

9. நீரே இதைச் செய்தீர் என்று உம்மை என்றென்றைக்கும் துதித்து, உமது நாமத்திற்குக் காத்திருப்பேன்; உம்முடைய பரிசுத்தவான்களுக்கு முன்பாக அது நலமாயிருக்கிறது.

9. I will thank You and confide in You forever, because You have done it [delivered me and kept me safe]. I will wait on, hope in and expect in Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your saints (Your kind and pious ones).
