1. வரையாடுகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ? மான்கள் குட்டிபோடுகிறதைக் கவனித்தாயோ?

1. Knowest thou the time when the wild goats of the rock bring forth? dost thou mark the calving of the hinds?

2. அவைகள் சினைப்பட்டிருந்து வருகிற மாதங்களை நீ எண்ணி, அவைகள் ஈனுங்காலத்தை அறிவாயோ?

2. Dost thou number the months that they fulfil? and knowest thou the time when they bring forth?

3. அவைகள் நொந்து குனிந்து தங்கள் குட்டிகளைப் போட்டு, தங்கள் வேதனைகளை நீக்கிவிடும்.

3. They bow themselves, they give birth to their young ones, they cast out their pains;

4. அவைகளின் குட்டிகள் பலத்து, வனத்திலே வளர்ந்து, அவைகளண்டைக்குத் திரும்ப வராமற்போய்விடும்.

4. Their young ones become strong, they grow up in the open field, they go forth, and return not unto them.

5. காட்டுக்கழுதையைத் தன்னிச்சையாய்த் திரியவிட்டவர் யார்? அந்தக் காட்டுக்கழுதையின் கட்டுகளை அவிழ்த்தவர் யார்?

5. Who hath sent out the wild ass free? and who hath loosed the bands of the onager,

6. அதற்கு நான் வனாந்தரத்தை வீடாகவும், உவர்நிலத்தை வாசஸ்தலமாகவும் கொடுத்தேன்.

6. Whose house I made the wilderness, and the salt plain his dwellings?

7. அது பட்டணத்தின் இரைச்சலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணி, ஓட்டுகிறவனுடைய கூக்குரலை மதிக்கிறதில்லை.

7. He laugheth at the tumult of the city, and heareth not the shouts of the driver;

8. அது மலைகளிலே தன் மேய்ச்சலைக் கண்டுபிடித்து, சகலவிதப் பச்சைப்பூண்டுகளையும் தேடித்திரியும்.

8. The range of the mountains is his pasture, and he searcheth after every green thing.

9. காண்டாமிருகம் உன்னிடத்தில் சேவிக்கச் சம்மதிக்குமோ? அது உன் முன்னணைக்கு முன்பாக இராத்தங்குமோ?

9. Will the buffalo be willing to serve thee, or will he lodge by thy crib?

10. படைச்சால்களை உழ நீ காண்டாமிருகத்தைக் கயிறுபோட்டு ஏரிலே பூட்டுவாயோ? அது உனக்கு இசைந்து பரம்படிக்குமோ?

10. Canst thou bind the buffalo with his cord in the furrow? or will he harrow the valleys after thee?

11. அது அதிக பெலமுள்ளதென்று நீ நம்பி அதினிடத்தில் வேலை வாங்குவாயோ?

11. Wilt thou put confidence in him, because his strength is great? and wilt thou leave thy labour to him?

12. உன் தானியத்தை அது உன்வீட்டில் கொண்டுவந்து, உன் களஞ்சியத்தில் சேர்க்கும் என்று நீ அதை நம்புவாயோ?

12. Wilt thou trust him to bring home thy seed, and gather it into thy threshing-floor?

13. தீக்குருவிகள் தங்கள் செட்டைகளை அசைவாட்டி ஓடுகிற ஓட்டம், நாரை தன் செட்டைகளாலும் இறகுகளாலும் பறக்கிறதற்குச் சமானமல்லவோ?

13. The wing of the ostrich beats joyously -- But is it the stork's pinion and plumage?

14. அது தன் முட்டைகளைத் தரையிலே இட்டு, அவைகளை மணலிலே அனலுறைக்க வைத்துவிட்டுப்போய்,

14. For she leaveth her eggs to the earth, and warmeth them in the dust,

15. காலால் மிதிபட்டு உடைந்துபோகும் என்பதையும், காட்டுமிருகங்கள் அவைகளை மிதித்துவிடும் என்பதையும் நினைக்கிறதில்லை.

15. And forgetteth that the foot may crush them, or that the beast of the field may trample them.

16. அது தன் குஞ்சுகள் தன்னுடையதல்லாததுபோல அவைகளைக்காக்காத கடினகுணமுள்ளதாயிருக்கும்; அவைகளுக்காக அதற்குக் கவலையில்லாதபடியினால் அது பட்ட வருத்தம் விருதாவாம்.

16. She is hardened against her young ones, as though they were not hers; her labour is in vain, without her concern.

17. தேவன் அதற்குப் புத்தியைக் கொடாமல், ஞானத்தை விலக்கிவைத்தார்.

17. For +God hath deprived her of wisdom, and hath not furnished her with understanding.

18. அது செட்டை விரித்து எழும்பும்போது, குதிரையையும் அதின்மேல் ஏறியிருக்கிறவனையும் அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

18. What time she lasheth herself on high, she scorneth the horse and his rider.

19. குதிரைக்கு நீ வீரியத்தைக் கொடுத்தாயோ? அதின் தொண்டையில் குமுறலை வைத்தாயோ?

19. Hast thou given strength to the horse? hast thou clothed his neck with the quivering mane?

20. ஒரு வெட்டுக்கிளியை மிரட்டுகிறதுபோல அதை மிரட்டுவாயோ? அதினுடைய நாசியின் செருக்கு பயங்கரமாயிருக்கிறது.

20. Dost thou make him to leap as a locust? His majestic snorting is terrible.

21. அது தரையிலே தாளடித்து, தன் பலத்தில் களித்து, ஆயுதங்களைத் தரித்தவருக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்படும்.

21. He paweth in the valley, and rejoiceth in [his] strength; he goeth forth to meet the armed host.

22. அது கலங்காமலும், பட்டயத்துக்குப் பின்வாங்காமலுமிருந்து, பயப்படுதலை அலட்சியம்பண்ணும்.

22. He laugheth at fear, and is not affrighted; neither turneth he back from before the sword.

23. அம்பறாத்தூணியும், மின்னுகிற ஈட்டியும், கேடகமும் அதின்மேல் கலகலக்கும்போது,

23. The quiver rattleth upon him, the glittering spear and the javelin.

24. கர்வமும் மூர்க்கமுங்கொண்டு தரையை விழுங்கிவிடுகிறதுபோல் அநுமானித்து, எக்காளத்தின் தொனிக்கு அஞ்சாமல் பாயும்.

24. He swalloweth the ground with fierceness and rage, and cannot contain himself at the sound of the trumpet:

25. எக்காளம் தொனிக்கும்போது அது நிகியென்று கனைக்கும்; யுத்தத்தையும், படைத்தலைவரின் ஆர்ப்பரிப்பையும், சேனைகளின் ஆரவாரத்தையும் தூரத்திலிருந்து மோப்பம்பிடிக்கும்.

25. At the noise of the trumpets he saith, Aha! and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.

26. உன் புத்தியினாலே ராஜாளி பறந்து, தெற்குக்கு எதிராகத் தன் செட்டைகளை விரிக்கிறதோ?

26. Doth the hawk fly by thine intelligence, [and] stretch his wings toward the south?

27. உன் கற்பனையினாலே கழுகு உயரப் பறந்து, உயரத்திலே தன் கூட்டைக் கட்டுமோ?

27. Doth the eagle mount up at thy command, and make his nest on high?

28. அது கன்மலையிலும், கன்மலையின் சிகரத்திலும், அரணான ஸ்தலத்திலும் தங்கி வாசம்பண்ணும். றல்.

28. He inhabiteth the rock and maketh his dwelling on the point of the cliff, and the fastness:

29. அங்கேயிருந்து இரையை நோக்கும்; அதின் கண்கள் தூரத்திலிருந்து அதைப் பார்க்கும்.

29. From thence he spieth out the prey, his eyes look into the distance;

30. அதின் குஞ்சுகள் இரத்தத்தை உறிஞ்சும்; பிணம் எங்கேயோ அங்கே கழுகு சேரும் என்றார்.

30. And his young ones suck up blood; and where the slain are, there is he.
