1. அதற்குப்பின்பு யோபு தன் வாயைத்திறந்து, தான் பிறந்த நாளைச் சபித்து,

1. After this Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.

2. வசனித்துச் சொன்னது என்னவென்றால்:

2. And Job said:

3. நான் பிறந்தநாளும் ஒரு ஆண்பிள்ளை உற்பத்தியாயிற்றென்று சொல்லப்பட்ட இராத்திரியும் அழிவதாக.

3. Let the day perish on which I was born, and the night that said, 'A man is conceived.'

4. அந்த நாள் அந்தகாரப்படுவதாக; தேவன் உயரத்திலிருந்து அதை விசாரியாமலும், ஒளி அதின்மேல் பிரகாசியாமலும்,

4. Let that day be darkness! May God above not seek it, nor light shine upon it.

5. அந்தகாரமும் மரணஇருளும் அதைக் கறைப்படுத்தி, மப்பு அதை மூடி, மந்தாரநாளின் பயங்கரங்கள் அதை அருக்களிப்பாக்குவதாக.

5. Let gloom and deep darkness claim it. Let clouds dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

6. அந்த இராத்திரியை அந்தகாரம் பிடிப்பதாக; வருஷத்தின் நாட்களில் அது சந்தோஷப்படுகிற நாளாயிராமலும் மாதங்களின் கணக்கிலே அது வராமலும் போவதாக.

6. That night- let thick darkness seize it! Let it not rejoice among the days of the year; let it not come into the number of the months.

7. அந்த இராத்திரி தனிமையாயிருப்பதாக; அதிலே கெம்பீரசத்தம் இல்லாமற்போவதாக.

7. Behold, let that night be barren; let no joyful cry enter it.

8. நாளைச் சபிக்கிறவர்களும், லிவியாதானை எழும்பப்பண்ணத்தக்கவர்களும், அதைச் சபிப்பார்களாக.

8. Let those curse it who curse the day, who are ready to rouse up Leviathan.

9. அதின் அஸ்தமனகாலத்தில் தோன்றிய நட்சத்திரங்கள் இருண்டு, அது எதிர்பார்த்திருந்த வெளிச்சம் உண்டாகாமலும், விடியற்காலத்து வெளுப்பை அது காணாமலும் இருப்பதாக.

9. Let the stars of its dawn be dark; let it hope for light, but have none, nor see the eyelids of the morning,

10. நான் இருந்த கர்ப்பத்தின் வாசலை அது அடைக்காமலும், என் கண்கள் காண்கிற வருத்தத்தை மறைத்துவிடாமலும் இருந்ததே.

10. because it did not shut the doors of my mother's womb, nor hide trouble from my eyes.

11. நான் கர்ப்பத்தில்தானே அழியாமலும், கர்ப்பத்திலிருந்து புறப்படுகிறபோதே சாகாமலும் போனதென்ன?

11. Why did I not die at birth, come out from the womb and expire?

12. என்னை ஏந்திக்கொள்ள மடியும், நான் பாலுண்ண ஸ்தனங்களும் உண்டாயிருந்ததென்ன?

12. Why did the knees receive me? Or why the breasts, that I should nurse?

13. அப்படியில்லாதிருந்தால், அசையாமல்கிடந்து அமர்ந்திருந்து,

13. For then I would have lain down and been quiet; I would have slept; then I would have been at rest,

14. பாழ்நிலங்களில் தங்களுக்கு மாளிகையைக் கட்டின பூமியின் ராஜாக்களோடும் மந்திரிமார்களோடும்,

14. with kings and counselors of the earth who rebuilt ruins for themselves,

15. அல்லது, பொன்னை உடையவர்களும், தங்கள் வீடுகளை வெள்ளியினால் நிரப்பினவர்களுமான பிரபுக்களோடுங்கூட நான் இப்பொழுது தூங்கி இளைப்பாறுவேனே.

15. or with princes who had gold, who filled their houses with silver.

16. அல்லது, வெளிப்படாத முதிராப்பிண்டம்போலவும், வெளிச்சத்தைக் காணாத சிசுக்கள்போலவும் இருப்பேனே.

16. Or why was I not as a hidden stillborn child, as infants who never see the light?

17. துன்மார்க்கருடைய தொந்தரவு அங்கே ஓய்ந்திருக்கிறது; பெலனற்று விடாய்த்துப்போனவர்கள் அங்கே இளைப்பாறுகிறார்கள்.

17. There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary are at rest.

18. கட்டுண்டிருந்தவர்கள் அங்கே ஏகமாக அமைந்திருக்கிறார்கள்; ஒடுக்குகிறவனுடைய சத்தம் அங்கே கேட்கப்படுகிறதில்லை.

18. There the prisoners are at ease together; they hear not the voice of the taskmaster.

19. சிறியவனும் பெரியவனும் அங்கே சரியாயிருக்கிறார்கள்; அடிமை தன் எஜமானுக்கு நீங்கலாயிருக்கிறான்.

19. The small and the great are there, and the slave is free from his master.

20. மரணத்துக்கு ஆசையாய்க் காத்திருந்து, புதையலைத் தேடுகிறதுபோல அதைத் தேடியும் அடையாமற்போகிறவர்களும்,

20. Why is light given to him who is in misery, and life to the bitter in soul,

21. பிரேதக்குழியைக் கண்டுபிடித்ததினால் மிகவும் களிகூர்ந்து,
வெளிப்படுத்தின விசேஷம் 9:6

21. who long for death, but it comes not, and dig for it more than for hidden treasures,

22. அதற்காகச் சந்தோஷப்படுகிற நிர்ப்பாக்கியருமாகிய இவர்களுக்கு வெளிச்சமும், மனச்சஞ்சலமுள்ள இவர்களுக்கு ஜீவனும் கொடுக்கப்படுகிறதினால் பலன் என்ன?

22. who rejoice exceedingly and are glad when they find the grave?

23. தன் வழியைக் காணக்கூடாதபடிக்கு, தேவனால் வளைந்துகொள்ளப்பட்டவனுக்கு வெளிச்சத்தினால் பலன் என்ன?

23. Why is light given to a man whose way is hidden, whom God has hedged in?

24. என் போஜனத்துக்கு முன்னே எனக்குப் பெருமூச்சு உண்டாகிறது; என் கதறுதல் வெள்ளம்போல் புரண்டுபோகிறது.

24. For my sighing comes instead of my bread, and my groanings are poured out like water.

25. நான் பயந்த காரியம் எனக்கு நேரிட்டது; நான் அஞ்சினது எனக்கு வந்தது.

25. For the thing that I fear comes upon me, and what I dread befalls me.

26. எனக்குச் சுகமுமில்லை, இளைப்பாறுதலுமில்லை, அமைதலுமில்லை; எனக்குத் தத்தளிப்பே நேரிட்டது.

26. I am not at ease, nor am I quiet; I have no rest, but trouble comes.'
