1. வெள்ளிக்கு விளைவிடம் உண்டு, பொன்னுக்குப் புடமிடும் ஸ்தலமுமுண்டு.

1. Surely there is a mine for the silver, and a place where they refine gold.

2. இரும்பு மண்ணிலிருந்து எடுக்கப்படும்; செம்பு கற்களில் உருக்கி எடுக்கப்படும்.

2. Iron is taken out of the earth, and bronze is melted out of the stone.

3. மனிதன் அந்தகாரத்திலும் மரண இருளிலும் இருக்கிற கற்களைக் கடையாந்தரமட்டும் ஆராய்ந்து தேடி, இருளுக்கும் அங்கே முடிவுண்டாக்குகிறான்.

3. He sets an end to darkness, and to every extremity He searches out the stones of darkness and the shadow of death.

4. கடக்கக்கூடாததும் நிலையாததுமான ஆறு எழும்பினாலும், உழைப்பாளியானவன் அதை மனுஷரால் வற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணிச் செல்லுகிறான்.

4. He opens a shaft far from the visitor; they are forgotten by man's foot; they hang far away from men, they swing to and fro.

5. பூமியின்மேல் ஆகாரம் விளையும்; அதின் கீழிடங்களிலிருக்கிறவைகளோ, அக்கினியால் மாறினது போலிருக்கும்.

5. As to the earth, out of it comes bread; and underneath it is turned up like fire.

6. அதின் கல்லுகளில் இந்திரநீலம் விளையும்; அதின் பொடியில் பொன்பொடிகளும் உண்டாயிருக்கும்.

6. Its stones are the place of sapphires; and it has dust of gold.

7. ஒரு வழியுண்டு, அது ஒரு பட்சிக்கும் தெரியாது; வல்லூறின் கண்ணும் அதைக் கண்டதில்லை;

7. There is a path which no bird knows, nor has the vulture's eye caught sight of it;

8. துஷ்டமிருகங்களின் கால் அதில் படவில்லை; சிங்கம் அதைக் கடந்ததில்லை.

8. the sons of pride have not walked on it, the lion has not passed by.

9. அவன் தன் கைகளைக் கற்பாறையின்மேல் நீட்டி, மலைகளை வேரோடே புரட்டுகிறான்.

9. He puts forth His hand on the flinty places; He overturns the mountains by the roots.

10. கன்மலைகளுக்குள்ளும் நீர்க்கால்களை வெட்டுகிறான்; அவன் கண் விலையுயர்ந்த எல்லாவற்றையும் காணும்.

10. He cuts out rivers among the rocks; and His eye sees every precious thing.

11. ஒரு துளியும் கசியாதபடி ஆறுகளை அடைக்கிறான்; மறைவிடத்திலிருக்கிறதை வெளிச்சத்திலே கொண்டுவருகிறான்.

11. He holds back the floods from overflowing; and the hidden thing, He brings to light.

12. ஆனாலும் ஞானம் கண்டெடுக்கப்படுவது எங்கே? புத்தி விளைகிற இடம் எது?

12. But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding?

13. அதின் விலை மனுஷனுக்குத் தெரியாது; அது ஜீவனுள்ளோருடைய தேசத்திலே அகப்படுகிறதில்லை.

13. Man does not know the price of it; nor is it found in the land of the living.

14. ஆழமானது: அது என்னிடத்தில் இல்லையென்கிறது; சமுத்திரமானதும், அது என்னிடத்தில் இல்லையென்கிறது.

14. The deep says, It is not in me; and the sea says, It is not in me.

15. அதற்கு ஈடாகத் தங்கத்தைக் கொடுக்கவும், அதற்குக் கிரயமாக வெள்ளியை நிறுக்கவும் கூடாது.

15. Pure gold cannot be given in its stead, and silver be weighed as its price.

16. ஓப்பீரின் தங்கமும், விலையேறப்பெற்ற கோமேதகமும், இந்திர நீலக்கல்லும் அதற்கு ஈடல்ல.

16. It cannot be weighed against the gold of Ophir, against precious onyx, or sapphire;

17. பொன்னும் பளிங்கும் அதற்கு ஒப்பல்ல; பசும்பொன்னாபரணங்களுக்கு அதை மாற்றக்கூடாது.

17. gold and the crystal cannot equal it, nor can it be exchanged for a vessel of fine gold.

18. பவளத்தையும் ஸ்படிகத்தையும் அத்தோடே ஒப்பிட்டுப் பேசலாகாது; முத்துகளைப்பார்க்கிலும் ஞானத்தின் விலை உயர்ந்தது.

18. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls; and the price of wisdom is above rubies.

19. எத்தியோப்பியாவின் புஷ்பராகம் அதற்கு நிகரல்ல; பசும்பொன்னும் அதற்குச் சரியல்ல.

19. The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it; it cannot be weighed against pure gold.

20. இப்படியிருக்க, ஞானம் எங்கேயிருந்து வரும்; புத்தி தங்கும் இடம் எங்கே?

20. From where then does wisdom come, and where is the place of understanding?

21. அது ஜீவனுள்ள சகலருடைய கண்களுக்கும் ஒளித்தும், ஆகாசத்துப்பறவைகளுக்கு மறைந்தும் இருக்கிறது.

21. Yea, it is hidden from the eyes of all living, and hidden from the birds of the heavens.

22. நாசமும், மரணமும், நாங்கள் எங்கள் காதுகளினாலேமாத்திரம் அதின் கீர்த்தியைக் கேட்டோம் என்கிறது.

22. The place of ruin and death say, We have heard the fame of it with our ears.

23. தேவனோ அதின் வழியை அறிவார், அதின் ஸ்தானம் அவருக்கே தெரியும்.

23. God understands the way of it, and He knows its place.

24. அவர் பூமியின் கடையாந்தரங்களைப் பார்த்து, வானங்களின்கீழ் இருக்கிறதையெல்லாம் காண்கிறார்.

24. For He looks to the end of the earth, and sees under all the heavens;

25. அவர் காற்றுக்கு அதின் நிறையை நியமித்து, ஜலத்துக்கு அதின் அளவைப் பிரமாணித்து,

25. making a weight for the winds, and measuring out the waters by measure.

26. மழைக்குத் திட்டத்தையும், இடிமுழக்கத்தோடே கூடிய மின்னலுக்கு வழியையும் ஏற்படுத்துகிறார்.

26. When He made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning to thunder;

27. அவர் அதைப் பார்த்துக் கணக்கிட்டார்; அதை ஆராய்ந்து ஆயத்தப்படுத்தி,

27. then He saw it, and declared it; He prepared it, yea, and searched it out.

28. மனுஷனை நோக்கி: இதோ, ஆண்டவருக்குப் பயப்படுவதே ஞானம்; பொல்லாப்பை விட்டு விலகுவதே புத்தி என்றார் என்று சொன்னான்.

28. And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to depart from evil is understanding!
