1. அதன்பின்பு, அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் ராஜாவாகிய நாகாஸ் மரித்து, அவன் குமாரன் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

1. And after this dyed Nahas ye kynge of the childre of Ammon, and his sonne was kynge in his steade.

2. அப்பொழுது தாவீது: ஆனூனின் தகப்பனாகிய நாகாஸ் எனக்குத் தயவு செய்ததுபோல, நானும் அவன் குமாரனாகிய இவனுக்குத் தயவுசெய்வேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவன் தகப்பனுக்காக அவனுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்ல ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பினான்; தாவீதின் ஊழியக்காரர் ஆனூனுக்கு ஆறுதல் சொல்ல அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் தேசத்திலே வந்தபோது,

2. Then sayde Dauid: I wil do mercy vpon Hanun the sonne of Nahas, for his father dyd mercy vpon me: and so he sent messaungers to comforte him ouer his father. And wha Dauids seruauntes came in to the londe of the children of Ammon vnto Hanun to comforte him,

3. அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் பிரபுக்கள் ஆனூனைப் பார்த்து: தாவீது ஆறுதல் சொல்லுகிறவர்களை உம்மிடத்தில் அனுப்பினது, உம்முடைய தகப்பனைக் கனம்பண்ணுகிறதாய் உமக்குத் தோன்றுகிறதோ? தேசத்தை ஆராயவும், அதைக் கவிழ்த்துப்போடவும், உளவுபார்க்கவும் அல்லவோ, அவன் ஊழியக்காரர் உம்மிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

3. the prynces of the children of Ammon sayde vnto Hanun: Thinkest thou that Dauid honoureth thy father in thy sighte, that he hath sent coforters vnto the? Yee his seruauntes are come vnto the, to search and to ouerthrowe, and to spye out the londe.

4. அப்பொழுது ஆனூன்: தாவீதின் ஊழியக்காரரைப் பிடித்து, அவர்கள் தாடியைச் சிரைத்து, அவர்களுடைய வஸ்திரங்களை இருப்பிடமட்டும் வைத்துவிட்டு, மற்ற பாதியைக் கத்தரித்துப்போட்டு, அவர்களை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

4. Then toke Hanun the seruauntes of Dauid, and shoue them, & cut the halfe of their garmentes of, eue by the loynes, & so let the go.

5. அந்த மனுஷர் வருகையில், அவர்கள் செய்தி தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டது; அப்பொழுது அந்த மனுஷர் மிகவும் வெட்கப்பட்டபடியினால், அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக ராஜா ஆட்களை அனுப்பி: உங்கள் தாடி வளருமட்டும் நீங்கள் எரிகோவிலிருந்து, பிற்பாடு வாருங்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

5. And they wente their waye, & sent men to tell Dauid. Neuertheles he sent to mete them (for ye men were put to greate shame) and the kynge sayde: Abyde at Iericho, tyll youre beerdes be growne, and then come agayne.

6. அம்மோன் புத்திரர் தாங்கள் தாவீதுக்கு அருவருப்பானதைக் கண்டபோது, ஆனூனும் அம்மோன் புத்திரரும் மெசொப்பொத்தாமியாவிலும் மாக்காசோபா என்னும் சீரியரின் தேசத்திலுமிருந்து தங்களுக்கு இரதங்களும் குதிரை வீரரும் கூலிக்கு வரும்படி ஆயிரம் தாலந்து வெள்ளி அனுப்பி,

6. Whan the childre of Ammon sawe, that they stynked in ye sighte of Dauid, both Hanun and the children of Ammon sent a thousande taletes of syluer, to hyre charettes and horsmen out of Mesopotamia, out of Maecha and out of Zoba:

7. முப்பத்தீராயிரம் இரதங்களையும், மாக்காவின் ராஜாவையும், அவன் ஜனத்தையும் கூலிப்படையாக அழைப்பித்தான்; இவர்கள் வந்து, மேதேபாவுக்கு முன்புறத்திலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்; அம்மோன் புத்திரரும் தங்கள் பட்டணங்களிலிருந்து கூடிக்கொண்டு யுத்தம்பண்ணவந்தார்கள்.

7. and hyred two and thirtie thousande charettes, & ye kynge of Maecha with his people, which came & pitched their tentes before Medba. And the children of Ammon gathered them selues together out of their cities, and came to the battayll.

8. அதைத் தாவீது கேட்டபோது, யோவாபையும் பலசாலிகளின் இராணுவம் முழுவதையும் அனுப்பினான்.

8. Whan Dauid herde that, he sent Ioab thither with all the hoost of the men of armes.

9. அம்மோன் புத்திரர் புறப்பட்டுவந்து, பட்டணத்து வாசலண்டையில் அணிவகுத்தார்கள்; வந்த ராஜாக்கள் தனித்து வெளியிலே போருக்கு ஆயத்தமாய் நின்றார்கள்.

9. And the childre of Ammon were gone forth, and prepared them selues to the battayll before the gate of the cite. But the kynges yt were come, kepte them asyde in the felde.

10. யுத்த இராணுவங்களின் முகப்புத் தனக்கு முன்னும் பின்னும் இருக்கிறதை யோவாப் கண்டு, அவன் இஸ்ரவேலிலே தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட அனைவரிலும் ஒரு பங்கைப் பிரித்தெடுத்து, அதைச் சீரியருக்கு எதிராக நிறுத்தி,

10. Now wha Ioab sawe that the battayll was agaynst him both before and behynde, he chose of all the best yonge men in Israel, and prepared him selfe agaynst ye Syrians.

11. மற்ற ஜனத்தை அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கு எதிராகப் போருக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்தி, தன் சகோதரனாகிய அபிசாயிக்கு ஒப்புவித்து, அவனை நோக்கி:

11. As for ye residue of the people, he put them vnder the hande of Abisai his brother, that they shulde prepare them selues agaynst the children of Ammon,

12. என்னைப்பார்க்கிலும் சீரியர் பலங்கொண்டால் நீ எனக்குத் துணைநில்; உன்னைப்பார்க்கிலும் அம்மோன் புத்திரர் பலங்கொண்டால் நான் உனக்குத் துணை நிற்பேன்.

12. and he sayde: Yf ye Syrias be to mightie for me, helpe thou me: but yf the childre of Ammon be to stroge for ye, I shall helpe the:

13. தைரியமாயிரு; நாம் நம்முடைய ஜனத்திற்காகவும், நமது தேவனுடைய பட்டணங்களுக்காகவும் திடன்கொண்டிருக்கக்கடவோம்; கர்த்தர் தமது பார்வைக்கு நலமானதைச் செய்வாராக என்றான்.

13. take a good corage vnto the, and let vs quyte oure selues manly for oure people and for the cities of oure God: neuertheles the LORDE do what pleaseth him.

14. பின்பு யோவாபும் அவனோடிருந்த ஜனமும் சீரியரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணச் சேர்ந்தார்கள்; அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடினார்கள்.

14. And Ioab made him forth with ye people that was with him, to fighte agaynst ye Syrians: & they fled before him.

15. சீரியர் முறிந்தோடுகிறதை அம்மோன் புத்திரர் கண்டபோது, அவர்களும் அவன் சகோதரனாகிய அபிசாயிக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடிப் பட்டணத்திற்கு உட்பட்டார்கள்; யோவாப் திரும்ப எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தான்.

15. And whan the children of Ammon sawe yt the Syrians fled, they fled also before Abisai his brother, and wente in to the cite. And Ioab came to Ierusalem.

16. தாங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக முறிய அடிக்கப்பட்டதைக் கண்டபோது, அவர்கள் நதிக்கு அப்புறத்திலிருக்கிற சீரியரை வரவழைத்தார்கள்; ஆதாரேசரின் படைத்தலைவனாகிய சோப்பாக் அவர்களுக்கு முன்னாலே நடந்துபோனான்.

16. But whan the Syrians sawe that they were smytte before Israel, they sent messaungers, and broughte forth ye Syrians which were beyonde the water. And Sophach the chefe captayne of Hadad Eser wente before them.

17. அது தாவீதுக்கு அறிவிக்கப்பட்டபோது, அவன் இஸ்ரவேலையெல்லாம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, யோர்தானைக் கடந்து, அவர்களுக்குச் சமீபமாய் வந்தபோது, அவர்களுக்கு எதிராக இராணுவங்களை நிறுத்தினான்; தாவீது சீரியருக்கு எதிராக இராணுவங்களைப் போருக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுத்தினபின் அவனோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

17. Wha this was tolde Dauid, he gathered all Israel together, and wente ouer Iordane. And whan he came at them, he set ye battayll in araye agaynst them. And Dauid prepared him selfe to ye battayll agaynst ye Syrians, & they foughte with him:

18. சீரியர் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடினார்கள்; தாவீது சீரியரில் ஏழாயிரம் இரதங்களின் மனுஷரையும், நாற்பதினாயிரம் காலாட்களையும் கொன்று, படைத்தலைவனாகிய சோப்பாக்கையும் கொன்றான்.

18. but ye Syrias fled before Israel. And Dauid slewe of the Syrians seuen thousande charettes, & fortye thousande fote men. And Sophach the chefe captayne slewe he also.

19. தாங்கள் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு முன்பாக முறிய அடிக்கப்பட்டதை ஆதாரேசரின் சேவகர் கண்டபோது, அவர்கள் தாவீதோடே சமாதானம்பண்ணி, அவனைச் சேவித்தார்கள்; அப்புறம் அம்மோன் புத்திரருக்கு உதவிசெய்ய சீரியர் மனதில்லாதிருந்தார்கள்.

19. And whan Hadad Esers seruauntes sawe that they were smytte before Israel, they made peace wt Dauid & his seruauntes. And the Syrians wolde helpe the childre of Ammon nomore.
