1. தீருவின் ராஜாவாகிய ஈராம் தாவீதினிடத்தில் ஸ்தானாபதிகளையும், அவனுக்கு ஒரு வீட்டைக் கட்டுகிறதற்குக் கேதுரு மரங்களையும், தச்சரையும், கல்தச்சரையும் அனுப்பினான்.

1. Now Hiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and timber of cedars with masons and carpenters to build him a house.

2. கர்த்தர் தன்னை இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாகத் திடப்படுத்தி, இஸ்ரவேல் என்னும் தம்முடைய ஜனத்தினிமித்தம் தன்னுடைய ராஜ்யத்தை மிகவும் உயர்த்தினார் என்று தாவீது அறிந்துகொண்டான்.

2. And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high because of His people Israel.

3. எருசலேமிலே தாவீது பின்னும் அநேக ஸ்திரீகளை விவாகம்பண்ணி, பின்னும் குமாரரையும் குமாரத்திகளையும் பெற்றான்.

3. And David took more wives at Jerusalem; and David begot more sons and daughters.

4. எருசலேமிலே அவனுக்குப் பிறந்த குமாரரின் நாமங்களாவன: சம்முவா, சோபாப், நாத்தான், சாலொமோன்,

4. Now these are the names of his children whom he had in Jerusalem: Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Solomon,

5. இப்கார், எலிசூவா, எல்பெலேத்,

5. and Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpelet,

6. நோகா, நெப்பேக், யப்பியா,

6. and Nogah, and Nepheg, and Japhia,

7. எலிஷாமா, பெலியாதா, எலிப்பெலேத் என்பவைகள்.

7. and Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphelet.

8. தாவீது சமஸ்த இஸ்ரவேலின்மேலும் ராஜாவாக அபிஷேகம்பண்ணப்பட்டதைப் பெலிஸ்தர் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, பெலிஸ்தர் எல்லாரும் தாவீதைத் தேடும்படி வந்தார்கள்; அதைத் தாவீது கேட்டபோது அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாகப் புறப்பட்டான்.

8. And when the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel, all the Philistines went up to seek David. And David heard of it and went out against them.

9. பெலிஸ்தர் வந்து ரெப்பாயீம் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே பரவியிருந்தார்கள்.

9. And the Philistines came and spread themselves in the Valley of Rephaim.

10. பெலிஸ்தருக்கு விரோதமாகப் போகலாமா, அவர்களை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பீரா என்று தாவீது தேவனைக் கேட்டபோது, கர்த்தர்: போ, அவர்களை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்றார்.

10. And David inquired of God, saying, 'Shall I go up against the Philistines? And wilt Thou deliver them into mine hand?' And the LORD said unto him, 'Go up; for I will deliver them into thine hand.'

11. அவர்கள் பாகால்பிராசீமுக்கு வந்தபோது, தாவீது அங்கே அவர்களை முறிய அடித்து: தண்ணீர்கள் உடைந்தோடுகிறதுபோல, தேவன் என் கையினால் என் சத்துருக்களை உடைந்தோடப்பண்ணினார் என்றான்; அதினிமித்தம் அந்த ஸ்தலத்திற்குப் பாகால்பிராசீம் என்னும் பேரிட்டார்கள்.

11. So they came up to Baalperazim, and David smote them there. Then David said, 'God hath broken in upon mine enemies by mine hand like the breaking forth of waters.' Therefore they called the name of that place Baalperazim [that is, A place of breaches].

12. அங்கே அவர்கள் தங்கள் தெய்வங்களைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; தாவீது கற்பித்தபடி அவைகள் அக்கினியாலே சுட்டெரிக்கப்பட்டன.

12. And when they had left their gods there, David gave a commandment, and they were burned with fire.

13. பெலிஸ்தர் மறுபடியும் வந்து அந்தப் பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே இறங்கினார்கள்.

13. And the Philistines yet again spread themselves abroad in the valley.

14. அப்பொழுது தாவீது திரும்ப தேவனிடத்தில் விசாரித்ததற்கு, தேவன் நீ அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னாலே போகாமல், அவர்களுக்குப் பக்கமாய்ச் சுற்றி, முசுக்கட்டைச் செடிகளுக்கு எதிரேயிருந்து, அவர்கள்மேல் பாய்ந்து,

14. Therefore David inquired again of God, and God said unto him, 'Go not up after them; turn away from them and come upon them opposite the mulberry trees.

15. முசுக்கட்டைச் செடிகளின் நுனிகளிலே செல்லுகிற இரைச்சலை நீ கேட்கும்போது, யுத்தத்திற்குப் புறப்படு; பெலிஸ்தரின் பாளயத்தை முறிய அடிக்க, தேவன் உனக்கு முன்னே புறப்பட்டிருப்பார் என்றார்.

15. And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle; for God has gone forth before thee to smite the host of the Philistines.'

16. தேவன் தனக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியே தாவீது செய்தபோது, பெலிஸ்தரின் இராணுவத்தைக் கிபியோன் துவக்கிக் காசேர்மட்டும் முறிய அடித்தார்கள்.

16. David therefore did as God commanded him; and they smote the host of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

17. அப்படியே தாவீதின் கீர்த்தி சகல தேசங்களிலும் பிரசித்தமாகி, அவனுக்குப் பயப்படுகிற பயத்தைக் கர்த்தர் சகல ஜாதிகளின்மேலும் வரப்பண்ணினார்.

17. And the fame of David went out into all lands, and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.
