1. சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பெனாதாத் தன் சேனையையெல்லாம் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுபோய், சமாரியாவை முற்றிக்கைபோட்டு அதின்மேல் யுத்தம்பண்ணினான்; அவனோடேகூட முப்பதிரண்டு ராஜாக்கள் இருந்ததுமல்லாமல், குதிரைகளும் இரதங்களும் இருந்தது.

1. And Benadab ye kynge of Siria gathered all his power, & there were two & thirtie kynges wt him, & horses & charettes, and he wente vp, and layed sege vnto Samaria, & foughte agaynst it.

2. அவன் நகரத்திற்குள் இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபிடத்தில் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை அனுப்பி:

2. And he sent messaungers vnto Achab ye kynge of Israel in to ye cite, & caused to saye vnto him: Thus sayeth Benadab:

3. உன்னுடைய வெள்ளியும் உன்னுடைய பொன்னும் என்னுடையது; உன்னுடைய ஸ்திரீகளும் உன்னுடைய குமாரருக்குள் சமர்த்தராயிருக்கிறவர்களும் என்னுடையவர்கள் என்று பெனாதாத் சொல்லுகிறான் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

3. Thy syluer & thy golde is myne, and thy wyues & thy best children are myne also.

4. இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அதற்குப் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனே, உம்முடைய வார்த்தையின்படியே, நானும் எனக்கு உண்டான யாவும் உம்முடையவைகள்தான் என்று சொல்லியனுப்பினான்.

4. The kynge of Israel answered, & sayde: My lorde O kynge, euen as thou hast sayde, I am thine, and all that I haue.

5. அந்த ஸ்தானாபதிகள் திரும்பவும் வந்து: பெனாதாத் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால், உன் வெள்ளியையும், உன் பொன்னையும், உன் ஸ்திரீகளையும், உன் குமாரர்களையும் நீ எனக்குக் கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்று உமக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பினேனே.

5. And the messaungers came agayne, & sayde: Thus sayeth Benadab: For so moch as I haue sent vnto the, sayenge: Thy syluer & thy golde, thy wyues & thy childre

6. ஆனாலும் நாளை இந்நேரத்தில் என் ஊழியக்காரரை உன்னிடத்தில் அனுப்புவேன்; அவர்கள் உன் வீட்டையும் உன் ஊழியக்காரரின் வீடுகளையும் சோதித்து, உன் கண்ணுக்குப் பிரியமானவைகள் எல்லாவற்றையும் தங்கள் கைகளில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போவார்கள் என்றார் என்று சொன்னார்கள்.

6. shalt thou geue me, tomorow aboute this tyme wil I sende my seruautes vnto the, yt they maye serch thyne house and the houses of thy subiectes: & loke what pleasaunt thinge thou hast, yt shal they take in their handes, and cary it awaye.

7. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா, தேசத்தின் மூப்பரையெல்லாம் அழைப்பித்து: இவன் பொல்லாப்புத் தேடுகிற விதத்தைக் கவனித்துப் பாருங்கள்; என் ஸ்திரீகளையும், என் குமாரர்களையும், என் வெள்ளியையும், என் பொன்னையும் கேட்க, இவன் என்னிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பினபோது, நான் கொடுக்கமாட்டேன் என்று இவனுக்கு மறுக்கவில்லையே என்றான்.

7. So the kynge of Israel called all ye Elders of the lode, & sayde: Mark well & se, what myschefe this ma seketh: He sent vnto me for my wyues & children for syluer & golde, & I haue not sayde him naye.

8. அப்பொழுது சகல மூப்பரும் சகல ஜனங்களும் அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீர் அவனுக்குச் செவிகொடுக்கவும், அவனுக்குச் சம்மதிக்கவும் வேண்டாம் என்றார்கள்.

8. Then sayde all the Elders and all the people vnto him: Thou shalt not cosente ner agree vnto him.

9. அதினால் அவன் பெனாதாத்தின் ஸ்தானாபதிகளை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் ராஜாவாகிய என் ஆண்டவனுக்குச் சொல்ல வேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், நீர் முதல் விசை உமது அடியானுக்குச் சொல்லியனுப்பின யாவும் செய்வேன்; இந்தக் காரியத்தையோ நான் செய்யக்கூடாது என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்; ஸ்தானாபதிகள் போய், இந்த மறுமொழியை அவனுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.

9. And he spake vnto Benadabs messaugers, Saye vnto my lorde ye kynge: All ye thynges wherfore thou dyddest sende vnto me yi seruaunt at ye first, wil I do, but this can I not do. And ye messaungers wete, and tolde this againe.

10. அப்பொழுது பெனாதாத் அவனிடத்தில் ஆள் அனுப்பி: எனக்குப் பின் செல்லுகிற ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் கைக்கு ஒரு பிடியாவது வாரிக்கொள்ள சமாரியாவின் தூள் போதுமானதாயிருந்தால், தேவர்கள் அதற்குச் சரியாகவும் அதற்கு அதிகமாகவும் எனக்குச் செய்யக்கடவர்கள் என்று சொல்லச்சொன்னான்.

10. The sent Benadab vnto him sayege: The goddes do this and yt vnto me, yf the dust of Samaria shalbe ynough, for euery one of my people to brynge me an handfull therof.

11. அதற்கு இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா பிரதியுத்தரமாக; ஆயுதம் தரித்திருக்கிறவன், ஆயுதம் உரிந்து போடுகிறவனைப்போலப் பெருமைபாராட்டலாகாது என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

11. But ye kynge of Israel answered, & sayde: Tell him, Let not him yt putteth on ye harnes, make his boast like him yt hath put it of

12. பெனாதாத்தும், மற்ற ராஜாக்களும் கூடாரங்களிலே குடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், இந்த வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டு, தன் ஊழியக்காரரை நோக்கி: ஆயத்தம்பண்ணுங்கள் என்றான்; அப்படியே நகரத்தின்மேல் சண்டைசெய்ய ஆயத்தம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

12. Wha Benadab herde yt (eue as he was drynkinge wt the kynges in ye pauylion) he sayde vnto his seruautes: Set yor selues in araye. And they set the selues in araie against ye cite.

13. அப்பொழுது ஒரு தீர்க்கதரிசி இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவாகிய ஆகாபிடத்தில் வந்து: அந்த ஏராளமான ஜனக்கூட்டத்தையெல்லாம் கண்டாயா? இதோ, நானே கர்த்தர் என்று நீ அறியும்படி இன்றைக்கு அதை உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பேன் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

13. And beholde, there came a prophet vnto Achab ye kynge of Israel, & saide: Thus sayeth the LORDE: Hast thou sene all this greate multitude? Beholde, this daie wil I delyuer the in to yi hande, so yt thou shalt knowe, how yt I am ye LORDE.

14. யாரைக்கொண்டு என்று ஆகாப் கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அவன்: மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகரைக்கொண்டு என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்; பின்பு அவன், யுத்தத்தை யார் துவக்கவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டதற்கு; அவன், நீர்தான் என்றான்.

14. Achab sayde: By whom? He sayde: Thus sayeth the LORDE: Euen by the yonge men of the rulers of the londe. He sayde: Who shal order the battayl? He sayde: Thou.

15. அவன் மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகரை இலக்கம் பார்த்தான், அவர்கள் இருநூற்று முப்பதிரண்டுபேர்; அவர்களுப்பின்பு, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரராகிய சகல ஜனத்தின் இலக்கமும் பார்த்து ஏழாயிரம்பேர் என்று கண்டான்.

15. Then mustered he the yonge men of the rulers of the londe, & there were two hudreth and two and thirtie of them: & after the mustured he of the whole people of all the childre of Israel, seue thousande men,

16. அவர்கள் மத்தியான வேளையிலே வெளியே புறப்பட்டார்கள்; பெனாதாத்தும், அவனுக்கு உதவியாக வந்த முப்பத்திரண்டு ராஜாக்களாகிய மற்ற ராஜாக்களும், கூடாரங்களில் குடித்து வெறி கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

16. and they wente out in the noone daye. As for Benadab, he dranke and was dronken in the pauylion with the two & thirtie kynges which were come to helpe him.

17. மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகர் முன்தண்டாகப் புறப்படுகிறபோது, பெனாதாத் அனுப்பின மனுஷர்: சமாரியாவிலிருந்து மனுஷர் புறப்பட்டு வருகிறார்கள் என்று அவனுக்கு அறிவித்தார்கள்.

17. And the yonge men of the rulers of the londe wente forth first. Benadab sent forth, & they brought him worde, & sayde: There come men out of Samaria.

18. அப்பொழுது அவன்: அவர்கள் சமாதானத்திற்காகப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தாலும் அவர்களை உயிரோடே பிடியுங்கள்; அவர்கள் யுத்தத்திற்காகப் புறப்பட்டு வந்தாலும் அவர்களை உயிரோடே பிடியுங்கள் என்றான்.

18. He sayde: Take them alyue, whether they be come forth for peace, or for warre.

19. மாகாணங்களுடைய அதிபதிகளின் சேவகரான அவர்களும், அவர்கள் பின்னே வருகிற இராணுவமும், நகரத்திலிருந்து வெளியே வந்தபோது,

19. But whan the londe rulers yonge men were gone forth, and the hoost behynde them, euery one smote him yt came in his waye.

20. அவர்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு எதிர்ப்படுகிறவர்களை வெட்டினார்கள்; சீரியர் முறிந்தோடி போனார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேலர் அவர்களைத் துரத்தினார்கள்; சீரியாவின் ராஜாவாகிய பெனாதாத், குதிரையின் மேல் ஏறிச் சில குதிரை வீரரோடுங்கூடத் தப்பியோடிப்போனான்.

20. And the Sirians fled, and Israel folowed after them. And Benadab the kynge of Syria escaped with horses and horsme.

21. இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா புறப்பட்டு, குதிரைகளையும், இரதங்களையும் முறிய அடித்து, சீரியரில் மகா சங்காரம் உண்டாக வெட்டினான்.

21. And the kynge of Israel wente forth, and smote horses and charettes, and dyd a greate slaughter on the Syrians.

22. பின்பு அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசி இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து, அவனை நோக்கி: நீர் போய் உம்மைப் பலப்படுத்திக்கொண்டு, நீர் செய்யத்தக்கது இன்னதென்று கவனித்துப்பாரும்; மறுவருஷத்திலே சீரியாவின் ராஜா உமக்கு விரோதமாக வருவான் என்றான்.

22. Then came there a prophet vnto the kynge of Israel, and sayde vnto him: Go thy waye and strength the, and take hede, and loke well what thou doest: for whan the yeare is aboute, the kynge of Syria shall come agaynst the of the new.

23. சீரியாவின் ராஜாவுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் அவனைப் பார்த்து: அவர்களுடைய தேவர்கள் மலைத்தேவர்கள், அதினால் அவர்கள் நம்மை மேற்கொண்டார்கள்; நாம் அவர்களோடே சமபூமியிலே யுத்தம்பண்ணினால் நல்லது; அப்பொழுது அவர்களை மேற்கொள்வது நிச்சயம்.

23. For the kynge of ye Syrians seruauntes sayde vnto him: Their goddes are goddes of the mountaynes, therfore haue they gotten the victory. But let vs fyghte with them on the playne, and thou shalt se that we shal ouercome them.

24. அதற்காக நீர் செய்யவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், இந்த ராஜாக்கள் ஒவ்வொருவரையும் தங்கள் ஸ்தலத்திலிருந்து மாற்றி, அவர்களுக்குப் பதிலாகச் சேனாபதிகளை ஏற்படுத்தி;

24. Do thus, put awaye the kynges euery one from his place, and set dukes in their steades,

25. நீர் மடியக்கொடுத்த சேனைக்குச் சரியாய்ச் சேனையையும், அந்தக் குதிரைகளுக்குச் சரியாய்க் குதிரைகளையும், இரதங்களுக்குச் சரியாய் இரதங்களையும் இலக்கம் பார்த்துக்கொள்ளும்; பிற்பாடு சமபூமியிலே நாம் அவர்களோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணி, நிச்சயமாய் அவர்களை மேற்கொள்வோம் என்றார்கள்; அவன் அவர்கள் சொற்கேட்டு அப்படியே செய்தான்.

25. and appoynte the an hoost as was that which thou hast lost, & horses & charettes as the other were, and let vs fight agaynst the in the plaine, and thou shalt se that we shal haue the victory. He cosented vnto their voyce, and dyd so.

26. மறுவருஷத்திலே பெனாதாத் சீரியரை இலக்கம்பார்த்து, இஸ்ரவேலோடு யுத்தம்பண்ண ஆப்பெக்குக்கு வந்தான்.

26. Now whan the yeare was gone aboute, Benadab appoynted the Sirians, and wente vp towarde Aphek, to fighte agaynst Israel,

27. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரும் இலக்கம் பார்க்கப்பட்டு, தேவையானதைச் சம்பாதித்துக்கொண்டு, அவர்களை எதிர்க்கப்புறப்பட்டு, அவர்களுக்கு எதிரே இரண்டு சிறிய வெள்ளாட்டுக் கிடைகளைப்போலப் பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்; தேசம் சீரியரால் நிறைந்திருந்தது.

27. and the childre of Israel mustured, and prouyded them selues with vytailes, and wete to mete them, and pitched their tetes ouer against them, like two litle flockes of goates but the londe was full of the Syrians.

28. அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய மனுஷன் ஒருவன் வந்து, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்து: கர்த்தர் பள்ளத்தாக்குகளின் தேவனாயிராமல், மலைகளின் தேவனாயிருக்கிறார் என்று சீரியர் சொல்லியிருக்கிறபடியினால், நான் இந்த ஏராளமான ஜனக்கூட்டத்தையெல்லாம் உன் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தேன்; அதினால் நானே கர்த்தர் என்று நீங்கள் அறிவீர்கள் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

28. And there came a man of God, and sayde vnto the kynge of Israel: Thus sayeth the LORDE: Because the Syrians haue sayde, that the LORDE is a God of the moutaynes and not a God of the valleys, therfore haue I geuen all this greate heape in to thy handes, that ye maye knowe how that I am ye LORDE.

29. ஏழுநாளளவும் அவர்கள் முகமுகமாய்ப் பாளயமிறங்கியிருந்தார்கள்; ஏழாம் நாளில் யுத்தம் கலந்து, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் ஒரே நாளிலே சீரியரில் இலட்சம் காலாட்களை மடங்கடித்தார்கள்.

29. And they pitched their tentes right ouer agaynst them seuen dayes. But vpon ye seuenth daye they wente together in to the battayll: and the children of Israel smote of the Sirians an hundreth thousande fote men in one daye,

30. மீதியானவர்கள் ஆப்பெக் பட்டணத்திற்குள் ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அங்கே மீதியாயிருந்த இருபத்தேழாயிரம்பேரின்மேல் அலங்கம் இடிந்து விழுந்தது; பெனாதாத்தும் ஓடிப்போய் நகரத்திற்குள் புகுந்து, உள்ளறையிலே பதுங்கினான்.

30. and the remnaunt fled to Aphek in to the cite, and the wall fell vpon the other seuen and twenty thousande men. And Benadab fled also vnto the cite in to a litle chamber.

31. அப்பொழுது அவன் ஊழியக்காரர் அவனை நோக்கி: இதோ, இஸ்ரவேல் வம்சத்து ராஜாக்கள் தயவுள்ள ராஜாக்கள் என்று கேட்டிருக்கிறோம்; நாங்கள் இரட்டுகளை எங்கள் அரைகளில் கட்டி, கயிறுகளை எங்கள் தலைகளில் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் போவோம்; ஒருவேளை உம்மை உயிரோடே வைப்பார் என்று சொல்லி,

31. Then sayde his seruauntes vnto him: Beholde, we haue herde that the kynges of the house of Israel are mercifull kinges, Let vs therfore put sack cloth aboute oure loynes, and halters aboute oure neckes, & go forth to the kynge of Israel, peraduenture he shal let yi soule lyue.

32. இரட்டைத் தங்கள் அரைகளில் கட்டி, கயிறுகளைத் தங்கள் தலைகளில் சுற்றிக்கொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் வந்து: என்னை உயிரோடே வையும் என்று உமது அடியானாகிய பெனாதாத் விண்ணப்பம்பண்ணுகிறான் என்றார்கள். அதற்கு அவன், இன்னும் அவன் உயிரோடே இருக்கிறானா, அவன் என் சகோதரன் என்றான்.

32. And they put sack cloth aboute their loynes, and halters aboute their neckes, and came to the kynge of Israel, and sayde: Benadab thy seruaunt sayeth vnto the: O let my soule lyue. He sayde: yf he be yet alyue, he is my brother.

33. அந்த மனுஷர் நன்றாய்க் கவனித்து, அவன் வாயின் சொல்லை உடனே பிடித்து: உமது சகோதரனாகிய பெனாதாத் இருக்கிறான் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன்: நீங்கள் போய், அவனை அழைத்துக்கொண்டு வாருங்கள் என்றான்; பெனாதாத் அவனிடத்தில் வந்தபோது, அவனைத் தன் இரதத்தில் ஏற்றிக்கொண்டான்.

33. And the men toke him shortly at his worde, and expounded it for them selues and sayde: Yee Benadab is thy brother. He sayde: Come and brynge him. The wente Benadab forth vnto him, and he caused him to syt vpon the charet,

34. அப்பொழுது பெனாதாத் இவனைப்பார்த்து: என் தகப்பன் உம்முடைய தகப்பனார் கையிலே பிடித்த பட்டணங்களைத் திரும்பக் கொடுத்துவிடுகிறேன்; என் தகப்பன் சமாரியாவிலே செய்ததுபோல, நீரும் தமஸ்குவிலே வீதிகளை உண்டாக்கிக்கொள்ளலாம் என்றான். அதற்கு அவன், இந்த உடன்படிக்கை செய்து நான் உம்மை அனுப்பிவிடுகிறேன் என்று சொல்லி, அவனோடு உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணி அவனை அனுப்பிவிட்டான்.

34. and sayde vnto him: The cities that my father toke from thy father, wyl I geue the agayne. And make thou stretes for thyselfe at Damasco, as my father did at Samaria, so wyl I let the go with a bonde of peace. And he made a couenaunt with him, and let him go.

35. அப்பொழுது தீர்க்கதரிசிகளின் புத்திரரில் ஒருவன் கர்த்தருடைய வார்த்தையின்படி தன் தோழனை நோக்கி: நீ என்னை அடி என்றான்; அந்த மனுஷன் அவனைப்பார்த்து அடிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்.

35. Then spake there a man amonge the children of the prophetes vnto his neghboure by the worde of the LORDE: I praye the smite me. But he refused to smite him.

36. அப்பொழுது அவன் இவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ கர்த்தருடைய சத்தத்திற்குக் கீழ்ப்படியாமற் போனபடியால், இதோ, நீ என்னைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டுப் போனவுடனே ஒரு சிங்கம் உன்னைக் கொல்லும் என்றான்; அப்படியே இவன் அவனைவிட்டுப் புறப்பட்டவுடனே, ஒரு சிங்கம் இவனைக் கண்டு கொன்றுபோட்டது.

36. Then saide he vnto him, because thou hast not herkened vnto the voyce of the LORDE, beholde, therfore shall there a lyon smyte the, whan thou goest fro me. And whan he wente fro him, a lyon founde him, and slewe him.

37. அதின்பின் அவன் வேறொருவனைக் கண்டு: என்னை அடி என்றான்; அந்த மனுஷன், அவனைக் காயமுண்டாக அடித்தான்.

37. And he founde another man, and sayde: I praye the smyte me. And the man smote him, and wounded him,

38. அப்பொழுது அந்தத் தீர்க்கதரிசி போய், தன் முகத்தின்மேல் சாம்பலைப் போட்டு, வேஷமாறினவனாய் வழியிலே ராஜாவுக்காகக் காத்திருந்தான்.

38. Then wente the prophet, and stepte vnto the kynge by the waye syde, and altered his face with a?shes.

39. ராஜா அவ்வழியாய் வருகிறபோது, இவன் ராஜாவைப் பார்த்துக் கூப்பிட்டு: உமது அடியான் யுத்தத்தில் நின்றபோது, ஒருவன் விலகி, என்னிடத்தில் ஒருவனைக் கொண்டுவந்து, இந்த மனுஷனைப் பத்திரம்பண்ணு; இவன் தப்பிப்போனால் உன் பிராணன் அவன் பிராணனுக்கு ஈடாயிருக்கும், அல்லது ஒரு தாலந்து வெள்ளியை நீ கொடுக்கவேண்டும் என்றான்.

39. And whan the kynge wente by, he cried vpon ye kynge, and sayde: Thy seruaunt wente forth in to the battayll, and beholde, there wente one asyde, and broughte a man vnto me, and sayde: Kepe this ma: yf he be myssed, thy soule shall be in steade of his soule, or els thou shalt weye downe an hundreth weighte of syluer.

40. ஆனாலும் உமது அடியான் இங்கும் அங்கும் அலுவலாயிருக்கும்போது, அவன் போய்விட்டான் என்றான். இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அவனைப் பார்த்து: நீ சொன்ன தீர்ப்பின்படியே ஆகும் என்றான்.

40. And whyle thy seruaunt had here & there to do, he was awaye. The kynge of Israel sayde vnto him: It is thine owne iudgment, thou hast geuen it thyselfe.

41. அப்பொழுது அவன் சீக்கிரமாய்த் தன் முகத்தின் மேலிருக்கும் சாம்பலைத் துடைத்துவிட்டதினால், இஸ்ரவேலின் ராஜா அவன் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளில் ஒருவன் என்று அறிந்துகொண்டான்.

41. Then put he the a?shes from his face in all the haist. And the kynge of Israel knewe him, that he was one of the prophetes.

42. அப்பொழுது இவன் அவனை நோக்கி: சங்காரத்திற்கு நான் நியமித்த மனுஷனை உன் கையிலிருந்து தப்பிப்போகும்படி நீ விட்டபடியினால், உன் பிராணன் அவன் பிராணனுக்கு ஈடாகவும், உன் ஜனம் அவன் ஜனத்திற்கு ஈடாகவும் இருக்கும் என்று கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்றான்.

42. And he sayde vnto him: Thus sayeth the LORDE: Because thou hast let the damned man go, therfore shall thy soule be for his soule, and thy people for his people.

43. And the kynge of Israel departed vnto his house, beinge troubled in his mynde and full indignacion, and came to Samaria.
