1. ராஜாவாகிய சாலொமோன், பார்வோனின் குமாரத்தியை நேசித்ததுமல்லாமல், மோவாபியரும், அம்மோனியரும், ஏதோமியரும், சீதோனியரும், ஏத்தியருமாகிய அந்நிய ஜாதியாரான அநேகம் ஸ்திரீகள்மேலும் ஆசைவைத்தான்.

1. But, King Solomon, loved many foreign women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, Hittites:

2. கர்த்தர் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் அவர்களண்டைக்கும் அவர்கள் உங்களண்டைக்கும் பிரவேசிக்கலாகாது; அவர்கள் நிச்சயமாய்த் தங்கள் தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றும்படி உங்கள் இருதயத்தைச் சாயப்பண்ணுவார்கள் என்று சொல்லியிருந்தார்; சாலொமோன் அவர்கள்மேல் ஆசைவைத்து, அவர்களோடு ஐக்கியமாயிருந்தான்.

2. out of the nations concerning whom Yahweh had said unto the sons of Israel Ye shall not go in unto them, and, they, shall not come in unto you, surely they will turn aside your heart after their gods. Unto these, did Solomon cleave in love.

3. அவனுக்குப் பிரபுக்கள் குலமான எழுநூறு மனையாட்டிகளும், முந்நூறு மறுமனையாட்டிகளும் இருந்தார்கள்; அவனுடைய ஸ்திரீகள் அவன் இருதயத்தை வழுவிப்போகப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

3. So it came to pass that he had seven hundred wives who were princesses, and three hundred concubines, and, his wives, turned aside, his heart.

4. சாலொமோன் வயது சென்றபோது, அவனுடைய மனைவிகள் அவன் இருதயத்தை அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்றும்படி சாயப்பண்ணினார்கள்; அதினால் அவனுடைய இருதயம் அவன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் இருதயத்தைப்போல, தன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரோடே உத்தமமாயிருக்கவில்லை.

4. Yea it came to pass, in the old age of Solomon, that, his wives, turned aside his heart after other gods, his heart therefore was not sound with Yahweh his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5. சாலொமோன் சீதோனியரின் தேவியாகிய அஸ்தரோத்தையும், அம்மோனியரின் அருவருப்பாகிய மில்கோமையும் பின்பற்றினான்.

5. And Solomon went after Ashtoreth, goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom, the abomination of the Ammonites.

6. சாலொமோன் தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதைப்போல கர்த்தரைப் பூரணமாய்ப் பின்பற்றாமல், கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குப் பொல்லாப்பானதைச் செய்தான்.

6. Thus Solomon did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, and went not fully after Yahweh, as did David his father.

7. அப்பொழுது சாலொமோன் எருசலேமுக்கு எதிரான மலையிலே மோவாபியரின் அருவருப்பாகிய காமோசுக்கும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் அருவருப்பாகிய மோளோகுக்கும் மேடையைக் கட்டினான்.

7. Then, did Solomon build a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the sons of Ammon;

8. இப்படியே தங்கள் தேவர்களுக்குத் தூபங்காட்டிப் பலியிடுகிற அந்நிய ஜாதியாரான தன் ஸ்திரீகள் எல்லாருக்காகவும் செய்தான்.

8. and, thus, did he for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and offered sacrifices unto their gods.

9. ஆகையால் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சாலொமோனுக்கு இரண்டு விசை தரிசனமாகி, அந்நிய தேவர்களைப் பின்பற்ற வேண்டாம் என்று கட்டளையிட்டிருந்தும், அவன் கர்த்தரை விட்டுத் தன் இருதயத்தைத் திருப்பி,

9. Therefore did Yahweh shew himself angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned aside from Yahweh God of Israel, who had appeared unto him twice;

10. அவர் கற்பித்ததைக் கைக்கொள்ளாமற்போனதினால் கர்த்தர் அவன்மேல் கோபமானார்.

10. and had been giving command to him concerning this thing, that he should not go away after other gods, but he had not taken heed unto that which Yahweh had commanded.

11. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் சாலொமோனை நோக்கி: நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட என் உடன்படிக்கையையும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் நீ கைக்கொள்ளாமற்போய் இந்தக் காரியத்தைச் செய்தபடியினால், ராஜ்யபாரத்தை உன்னிடத்திலிருந்து பிடுங்கி, அதை உன் ஊழியக்காரனுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன்.

11. Wherefore Yahweh said unto Solomon Forasmuch as this hath come to pass with thee, and thou hast not heeded my covenant and my statutes, which I charged upon thee, I will, rend, the kingdom away from thee, and will give it unto a servant of thine.

12. ஆகிலும் உன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதினிமித்தம், நான் அதை உன் நாட்களிலே செய்வதில்லை; உன் குமாரனுடைய கையினின்று அதைப் பிடுங்குவேன்.

12. Notwithstanding, in thine own days, will I not do it, for the sake of David thy father, out of the hand of thy son, will I rend it.

13. ஆனாலும் ராஜ்யம் முழுவதையும் நான் பிடுங்காமல், என் தாசனாகிய தாவீதினிமித்தமும், நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட எருசலேமினிமித்தமும், ஒரு கோத்திரத்தை நான் உன் குமாரனுக்குக் கொடுப்பேன் என்றார்.

13. Howbeit, all the kingdom, will I not rend away, one tribe, will I give unto thy son, for the sake of David my servant, and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.

14. கர்த்தர் ஏதோமியனாகிய ஆதாத் என்னும் ஒரு விரோதியைச் சாலொமோனுக்கு எழுப்பினார்; இவன் ஏதோமிலிருந்த ராஜகுலமானவன்.

14. And Yahweh raised up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite, of the seed of the king, was he, in Edom.

15. தாவீது ஏதோமில் இருக்கும்போது படைத்தலைவனாகிய யோவாப் ஏதோமிலுள்ள ஆண்மக்களையெல்லாம் சங்கரித்து, வெட்டுண்டவர்களை அடக்கம்பண்ணப்போனான்.

15. And it came to pass, when David was dealing with Edom, and Joab general of the army went up to bury the slain, and had smitten every male in Edom,

16. அவர்களையெல்லாம் சங்கரிக்குமளவும், தானும் இஸ்ரவேல் அனைத்தும் அங்கே ஆறுமாதம் இருக்கும்போது,

16. for, six months, did Joab remain there, with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom,

17. ஆதாதும் அவனோடேகூட அவன் தகப்பனுடைய ஊழியக்காரரில் சில ஏதோமியரும் எகிப்திற்குப்போக ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; ஆதாத் அப்பொழுது ஒரு சிறுபிள்ளையாயிருந்தான்.

17. that Hadad fled, he and certain men of Edom of the servants of his father, with him, to go into Egypt, Hadad being a little boy.

18. அவர்கள் மீதியானிலிருந்து எழுந்து, பாரானுக்குச் சென்று, பாரானிலே சில மனுஷரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, எகிப்திற்குப் பார்வோன் என்னும் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவினிடத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்; அவன் இவனுக்கு ஒரு வீடு கொடுத்து, இவனுக்கு ஆகாரத்தைத் திட்டம்பண்ணி, நிலத்தையும் கொடுத்தான்.

18. So they arose out of Midian, and came into Paran, and took certain men with them out of Paran, and came into Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave him a house, and, food, appointed him, and, land, did give unto him.

19. ஆதாதுக்குப் பார்வோனின் கண்களில் மிகுந்த தயை கிடைத்தபடியினால், அவன் ராஜஸ்திரீயாகிய தாப்பெனேஸ் என்னும் தன் மனைவியின் சகோதரியை அவனுக்கு விவாகஞ்செய்துகொடுத்தான்.

19. And Hadad found great favour in the eyes of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife, the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.

20. தாப்பெனேசின் சகோதரியாகிய இவள் அவனுக்குக் கேனுபாத் என்னும் ஒரு குமாரனைப் பெற்றாள்; அவனைத் தாப்பெனேஸ் பார்வோனின் வீட்டிலே வளர்த்தாள்; அப்படியே கேனுபாத் பார்வோனின் வீட்டில் அவனுடைய குமாரருடன் இருந்தான்.

20. And the sister of Tahpenes bare to him Genubath his son, and Tahpenes weaned him, in the house of Pharaoh, and so it came about, that Genubath was of the household of Pharaoh, among the sons of Pharaoh.

21. தாவீது தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்தான் என்றும், படைத்தலைவனாகிய யோவாப் இறந்துபோனான் என்றும், எகிப்திலே ஆதாத் கேள்விப்பட்டபோது, ஆதாத் பார்வோனை நோக்கி: நான் என் சுயதேசத்துக்குப் போக என்னை அனுப்பவேண்டும் என்றான்.

21. And, when, Hadad, heard in Egypt, that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab general of the army was dead, Hadad said unto Pharaoh, Let me go, that I may take my journey unto mine own land.

22. அதற்குப் பார்வோன்: இதோ, நீ உன் சுயதேசத்துக்குப்போக விரும்புகிறதற்கு, என்னிடத்தில் உனக்கு என்ன குறைவு இருக்கிறது என்றான்; அதற்கு அவன்: ஒரு குறைவும் இல்லை; ஆகிலும் என்னை அனுப்பிவிடவேண்டும் என்றான்.

22. Then said Pharaoh unto him But what hast thou been lacking with me, that lo! thou art seeking to take thy journey unto thine own land? And he said Nothing, howbeit, let me go.

23. எலியாதாவின் குமாரனாகிய ரேசோன் என்னும் வேறொரு விரோதியை தேவன் எழுப்பினார்; இவன் தன் ஆண்டவனாகிய ஆதாதேசர் என்னும் சோபாவின் ராஜாவை விட்டு ஓடிப்போய்,

23. And God raised up against him an adversary, Rezon son of Eliada, who had fled from Hadadezer king of Zobah, his lord;

24. தாவீது சோபாவில் உள்ளவர்களைக் கொன்றுபோடுகையில், அவன் தன்னோடே சில மனுஷரைச் சேர்த்துக் கொண்டு, அந்தக் கூட்டத்திற்குத் தலைவனானான்; இவர்கள் தமஸ்குவுக்குப் போய், அங்கே குடியிருந்து, தமஸ்குவில் ஆண்டார்கள்.

24. and he gathered unto him men, and became captain of a band when David slew them of Zobah , then went they to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.

25. ஆதாத் பொல்லாப்புச் செய்ததுமல்லாமல், ரேசோன் சாலொமோனுடைய நாளெல்லாம் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு விரோதியாகி, சீரியாவின்மேல் ராஜாவாயிருந்து, இஸ்ரவேலைப் பகைத்தான்.

25. Thus became he an adversary unto Israel, all the days of Solomon, this, is the mischief which Hadad did, so then, he abhorred Israel, when he reigned over Syria.

26. சேரேதா ஊரிலுள்ள எப்பிராயீம் மனுஷனாகிய நேபாத்தின் குமாரன் யெரொபெயாம் என்னும் சாலொமோனின் ஊழியக்காரனும் ராஜாவுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கையெடுத்தான்; அவனுடைய தாய் செரூகாள் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு விதவை.

26. Jeroboam also, son of Nebat, an Ephrathite from Zeredah, whose, mother's name, was Zeruah, a widow woman, he being servant to Solomon, lifted up a hand against the king.

27. அவன் ராஜாவுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கையெடுத்த முகாந்தரம் என்னவென்றால், சாலொமோன் மில்லோவைக்கட்டி, தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதுடைய நகரத்தின் இடிந்துபோன இடங்களைப் பழுது பார்த்தபோது,

27. And, this, was the cause that he lifted up a hand against the king, Solomon, built Millo, he closed up of the of David his father. the breach city

28. யெரொபெயாம் என்பவன் பராக்கிரமசாலியாயிருந்தான்; அவன் காரியசமர்த்தனான வாலிபன் என்று சாலொமோன் கண்டு, யோசேப்பு வம்சத்தாரின் காரியத்தையெல்லாம் அவன் விசாரிப்புக்கு ஒப்புவித்தான்.

28. Now, the man Jeroboam, being an able Solomon observed his servant, that he man, was, one to execute a work, so he gave him oversight of all the charge of the house of Joseph.

29. அக்காலத்திலே யெரொபெயாம் எருசலேமிலிருந்து வெளியே போகிறபோது, சீலோனியனான அகியா என்னும் தீர்க்கதரிசி புதுச்சால்வையைப் போர்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்து, வழியிலே அவனைக் கண்டான்; இருவரும் வயல்வெளியிலே தனித்திருக்கையில்,

29. And it came to pass, at that time, when, Jeroboam, went forth out of Jerusalem, that there met him Ahijah the Shilonite, the prophet, in the way, he having wrapped himself about with a new mantle; and, they two, were by themselves, in the field.

30. அகியா தான் போர்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்த புதுச்சால்வையைப் பிடித்து, அதைப் பன்னிரண்டு துண்டாகக் கிழித்துப்போட்டு,

30. Then Ahijah laid hold of the new mantle, that was upon him, and rent it into twelve pieces;

31. யெரொபெயாமை நோக்கி: பத்துத்துண்டுகளை எடுத்துக்கொள்; இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சொல்லுகிறது என்னவென்றால்: இதோ, நான் ராஜ்யபாரத்தைச் சாலொமோனுடைய கையிலிருந்து எடுத்துக் கிழித்து, உனக்குப் பத்துக் கோத்திரங்களைக் கொடுப்பேன்.

31. and said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten places, for Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel Behold me! about to rend the kingdom, out of the hand of Solomon, and I will give unto thee ten tribes:

32. ஆனாலும் என் தாசனாகிய தாவீதுக்காகவும், நான் இஸ்ரவேல் கோத்திரங்களில் எல்லாம் தெரிந்துகொண்ட எருசலேம் நகரத்துக்காகவும், ஒரு கோத்திரம் அவனுக்கு இருக்கும்.

32. Howbeit, one tribe, shall he retain, for the sake of my servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city that I have chosen, out of all the tribes of Israel:

33. அவர்கள் என்னைவிட்டு, சீதோனியரின் தேவியாகிய அஸ்தரோத்தையும், மோவாபியரின் தேவனாகிய காமோசையும், அம்மோன் புத்திரரின் தேவனாகிய மில்கோமையும் பணிந்துகொண்டு, அவன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதைப்போல என் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையாய் இருக்கிறதைச் செய்யவும், என் கட்டளைகளையும் என் நியாயங்களையும் கைக்கொள்ளவும், அவர்கள் என் வழிகளில் நடவாமற்போனபடியினால் அப்படிச் செய்வேன்.

33. Because they have forsaken me, and bowed themselves down to Ashtoreth, goddess of the Zidonians, to Chemosh, god of the Moabites, and to Milcom, god of the sons of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, by doing what is right in mine eyes, even my statutes and my regulations, like David his father.

34. ஆனாலும் ராஜ்யபார முழுவதையும் நான் அவன் கையிலிருந்து எடுத்துப்போடுவதில்லை; நான் தெரிந்துகொண்டவனும், என் கற்பனைகளையும் என் கட்டளைகளையும் கைக்கொண்டவனுமான என் தாசனாகிய தாவீதினிமித்தம், அவன் உயிரோடிருக்கும் நாளெல்லாம் அவனை அதிபதியாக வைப்பேன்.

34. Yet will I not take all the kingdom out of his hand, but will suffer him to be, leader, all the days of his life, for the sake of David my servant, whom I chose, who kept my commandments and my statutes.

35. ஆனாலும் ராஜ்யபாரத்தை அவன் குமாரன் கையிலிருந்து எடுத்து, அதிலே பத்துக் கோத்திரங்களை உனக்குத் தருவேன்.

35. But I will take the kingdom out of the hand of his son, and will give it to thee, even the ten tribes.

36. என் நாமம் விளங்கும்படிக்கு, நான் தெரிந்துகொண்ட நகரமாகிய எருசலேமிலே என் சமுகத்தில் என் தாசனாகிய தாவீதுக்கு எந்நாளும் ஒரு விளக்கு இருக்கத்தக்கதாக, அவன் குமாரனுக்கு ஒரு கோத்திரத்தைக் கொடுப்பேன்.

36. Nevertheless, go his son, will I give one tribe, to the end there may remain a lamp unto David my servant always before me, in Jerusalem, the city that I have chosen for myself, to put my Name there.

37. நீ உன் மனவிருப்பத்தின்படி ஆண்டுகொண்டு, இஸ்ரவேலின்மேல் ராஜாவாய் இருப்பதற்காக நான் உன்னைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டேன்.

37. But, thee, will I take, and thou shalt reign over all that thy soul could desire, and thou shalt be king over Israel.

38. நான் உனக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டதையெல்லாம் நீ கேட்டுக் கைக்கொண்டு, நீ என் வழிகளில் நடந்து, என் தாசனாகிய தாவீது செய்ததுபோல, என் கட்டளைகளையும் என் கற்பனைகளையும் கைக்கொள்ளும்படிக்கு என் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்கிறதுண்டானால், நான் உன்னோடிருந்து, நான் தாவீதுக்குக் கட்டினதுபோல உனக்கும் நிலையான வீட்டைக் கட்டி இஸ்ரவேலை உனக்குத் தருவேன்.

38. So shall it be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I shall command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that which is right in mine eyes, by keeping my statutes and my commandments, as did David my servant, then will I be with thee, and will build thee an assured house, as I have built for David, and will give unto thee, Israel.

39. இப்படி நான் இந்தக் காரியத்தினிமித்தம் தாவீதின் சந்ததியைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்துவேன்; ஆகிலும் எந்நாளும் அப்படியிராது என்று சொன்னான்.

39. Thus will I humiliate the seed of David, because of this; yet not for ever.

40. அதினிமித்தம் சாலொமோன் யெரொபெயாமைக் கொல்ல வகைதேடினான்; யெரொபெயாம் எழுந்து, எகிப்திற்குச் சீஷாக் என்னும் எகிப்தின் ராஜாவினிடத்தில் ஓடிப்போய், சாலொமோன் மரணமடையுமட்டும் எகிப்தில் இருந்தான்.

40. When therefore Solomon sought to put, Jeroboam, to death, Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and remained in Egypt, until the death of Solomon.

41. சாலொமோனின் மற்ற நடபடிகளும், அவன் செய்தவை அனைத்தும், அவனுடைய ஞானமும், சாலொமோனுடைய நடபடிப் புஸ்தகத்தில் அல்லவோ எழுதியிருக்கிறது.

41. Now, the rest of the story of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are, they, not written in the book of the records of Solomon?

42. சாலொமோன் எருசலேமிலே இஸ்ரவேலையெல்லாம் அரசாண்ட நாட்கள் நாற்பது வருஷம்.

42. Now, the days which Solomon reigned in Jerusalem, over all Israel, were forty years.

43. சாலொமோன் தன் பிதாக்களோடே நித்திரையடைந்து, தன் தகப்பனாகிய தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம்பண்ணப்பட்டான்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய ரெகொபெயாம் அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

43. So then Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father, and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
