1. பெலிஸ்தர் யுத்தம் பண்ணுகிறதற்குத் தங்கள் சேனைகளைச் சேர்த்து, யூதாவிலுள்ள சோக்கோவிலே ஒருமித்துக் கூடி, சோக்கோவுக்கும் அசெக்காவுக்கும் நடுவே இருக்கிற எபேஸ்தம்மீமிலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்.

1. Nowe the Philistims gathered their armies to battell, and came together to Shochoh, which is in Iudah, and pitched betweene Shochoh and Azekah, in the coast of Dammim.

2. சவுலும் இஸ்ரவேல் மனுஷரும் ஒருமித்துக் கூடி, ஏலா பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே பாளயமிறங்கி, பெலிஸ்தருக்கு எதிராக யுத்தத்திற்கு அணிவகுத்து நின்றார்கள்.

2. And Saul, and the men of Israel assembled, and pitched in the valley of Elah, and put themselues in battell araie to meete the Philistims.

3. பெலிஸ்தர் அந்தப்பக்கத்தில் ஒரு மலையின்மேலும், இஸ்ரவேலர் இந்தப்பக்கத்தில் ஒரு மலையின்மேலும் நின்றார்கள்; அவர்களுக்கு நடுவே பள்ளத்தாக்கு இருந்தது.

3. And the Philistims stoode on a mountaine on the one side, and Israel stoode on a mountaine on the other side: so a valley was betweene them.

4. அப்பொழுது காத் ஊரானாகிய கோலியாத் என்னும் பேருள்ள ஒரு வீரன் பெலிஸ்தரின் பாளயத்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டு வந்து நடுவே நிற்பான்; அவன் உயரம் ஆறு முழமும் ஒரு ஜாணுமாம்.

4. Then came a man betweene them both out of the tents of the Philistims, named Goliath of Gath: his height was sixe cubites and an hande breadth,

5. அவன் தன் தலையின்மேல் வெண்கலச் சீராவைப் போட்டு, ஒரு போர்க்கவசம் தரித்துக்கொண்டிருப்பான்; அந்தக் கவசத்தின் நிறை ஐயாயிரம் சேக்கலான வெண்கலமாயிருக்கும்.

5. Aud had an helmet of brasse vpon his head, and a brigandine vpon him: and the weight of his brigandine was fiue thousand shekels of brasse.

6. அவன் தன் கால்களிலே வெண்கலக்கவசத்தையும் தன் தோள்களின்மேல் வெண்கலக் கேடகத்தையும் தரித்திருப்பான்.

6. And he had bootes of brasse vpon his legs, and a shield of brasse vpon his shoulders.

7. அவனுடைய ஈட்டித்தாங்கு நெசவுக்காரரின் படைமரத்தின் கனதியும் அவன் ஈட்டியின் அலகு அறுநூறு சேக்கல் இரும்புமாயிருக்கும்; பரிசை பிடிக்கிறவன் அவனுக்கு முன்னாக நடப்பான்.

7. And the shaft of his speare was like a weauers beame: and his speare head weyed sixe hundreth shekels of yron: and one bearing a shielde went before him.

8. அவன் வந்து நின்று, இஸ்ரவேல் சேனைகளைப் பார்த்துச் சத்தமிட்டு, நீங்கள் யுத்தத்திற்கு அணிவகுத்து நிற்கிறது என்ன? நான் பெலிஸ்தன் அல்லவா? நீங்கள் சவுலின் சேவகர் அல்லவா? உங்களில் ஒருவனைத் தெரிந்து கொள்ளுங்கள், அவன் என்னிடத்தில் வரட்டும்.

8. And he stoode, and cried against the hoste of Israel, and saide vnto them, Why are yee come to set your battell in aray? am not I a Philistim, and you seruaunts to Saul? chuse you a man for you, and let him come downe to me.

9. If he be able to fight with me, and kill me, then wil we be your seruants: but if I ouercome him, and kill him, then shall yee be our seruants, and serue vs.

10. பின்னும் அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தன்: நான் இன்றையதினம் இஸ்ரவேலுடைய சேனைகளை நிந்தித்தேன்; நாம் ஒருவரோடு ஒருவர் யுத்தம்பண்ண ஒருவனை விடுங்கள் என்று சொல்லிக்கொண்டு வருவான்.

10. Also the Philistim saide, I defie the hoste of Israel this day: giue mee a man, that we may fight together.

11. சவுலும் இஸ்ரவேலர் அனைவரும் அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனுடைய வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, கலங்கி மிகவும் பயப்பட்டார்கள்.

11. When Saul and all Israel heard those wordes of the Philistim, they were discouraged, and greatly afraide.

12. தாவீது என்பவன் யூதாவிலுள்ள பெத்லெகேம் ஊரானாகிய ஈசாய் என்னும் பேருள்ள எப்பிராத்திய மனுஷனுடைய குமாரனாயிருந்தான்; ஈசாயுக்கு எட்டுக் குமாரர் இருந்தார்கள்; இவன் சவுலின் நாட்களிலே மற்ற ஜனங்களுக்குள்ளே வயது சென்ற கிழவனாய் மதிக்கப்பட்டான்.

12. Nowe this Dauid was the sonne of an Ephrathite of Beth-lehem Iudah, named Ishai, which had eight sonnes: and this man was taken for an olde man in the daies of Saul.

13. ஈசாயினுடைய மூன்று மூத்த குமாரர் சவுலோடேகூட யுத்தத்திற்குப் போயிருந்தார்கள்; யுத்தத்திற்குப் போயிருந்த அவனுடைய மூன்று குமாரரில் மூத்தவனுக்கு எலியாப் என்றும், இரண்டாங்குமாரனுக்கு அபினதாப் என்றும், மூன்றாங்குமாரனுக்குச் சம்மா என்றும் பேர்.

13. And the three eldest sonnes of Ishai went and followed Saul to the battel: and the names of his three sonnes that went to battell, were Eliab the Eldest, and the next Abinadab, and the thirde Shammah.

14. தாவீது எல்லாருக்கும் இளையவன்; மூத்தவர்களாகிய அந்த மூன்று பேரும் சவுலோடேகூடப் போயிருந்தார்கள்.

14. So Dauid was the least: and the three eldest went after Saul.

15. தாவீது சவுலைவிட்டுத் திரும்பிப் போய் பெத்லெகேமிலிருக்கிற தன் தகப்பனுடைய ஆடுகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.

15. Dauid also went, but hee returned from Saul to feede his fathers sheepe in Beth-lehem.

16. அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தன் காலையிலும் மாலையிலும் நாற்பது நாள் வந்துவந்து நிற்பான்.

16. And the Philistim drew neere in the morning, and euening, and continued fourtie daies.

17. ஈசாய் தன் குமாரனாகிய தாவீதை நோக்கி: உன் சகோதரருக்கு இந்த ஒரு மரக்கால் வறுத்த பயற்றையும், இந்தப் பத்து அப்பங்களையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு, பாளயத்திலிருக்கிற உன் சகோதரரிடத்தில் ஓட்டமாய்ப் போய்,

17. And Ishai said vnto Dauid his sone, Take nowe for thy brethren an Ephah of this parched corne, and these ten cakes, and runne to the hoste to thy brethren.

18. இந்தப் பத்துப் பால்கட்டிகளை ஆயிரம்பேருக்கு அதிபதியானவனிடத்தில் கொடுத்து, உன் சகோதரர் சுகமாயிருக்கிறார்களா என்று விசாரித்து, அவர்களிடத்தில் அடையாளம் வாங்கிக்கொண்டுவா என்றான்.

18. Also carie these ten fresh cheeses vnto the captaine, and looke howe thy brethren fare, and receiue their pledge.

19. அப்பொழுது சவுலும், அவர்களும், இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும், ஏலா பள்ளத்தாக்கிலே பெலிஸ்தரோடு யுத்தம்பண்ணிக்கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

19. (Then Saul and they, and all the men of Israel were in the valley of Elah, fighting with the Philistims)

20. தாவீது அதிகாலையில் எழுந்து, ஆடுகளைக் காவலாளி வசமாய் விட்டு, ஈசாய் தனக்குக் கற்பித்தபடியே எடுத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், இரதங்கள் இருக்கிற இடத்திலே வந்தான்; சேனைகள் அணிவகுத்து நின்று, யுத்தத்திற்கென்று ஆர்ப்பரித்தார்கள்.

20. So Dauid rose vp earely in the morning, and left the sheepe with a keeper, and tooke and went as Ishai had commanded him, and came within the compasse of the hoste: and the hoste went out in araie, and shouted in the battell.

21. இஸ்ரவேலரும் பெலிஸ்தரும் ஒருவருக்கு எதிராக ஒருவர் அணிவகுத்துக் கொண்டிருந்தார்கள்.

21. For Israel and the Philistims had put themselues in araie, armie against armie.

22. அப்பொழுது தாவீது: தான் கொண்டுவந்தவைகளை இறக்கி, ரஸ்துக்களைக் காக்கிறவன் வசமாக வைத்துவிட்டு, சேனைக்குள் ஓடி, தன் சகோதரரைப் பார்த்து: சுகமாயிருக்கிறீர்களா என்று கேட்டான்.

22. And Dauid left the things, which hee bare, vnder the handes of the keeper of the cariage, and ranne into the hoste, and came, and asked his brethren howe they did.

23. அவன் இவர்களோடே பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், இதோ, காத் ஊரானாகிய கோலியாத் என்னும் பேருள்ள அந்தப் பெலிஸ்த வீரன் பெலிஸ்தரின் சேனைகளிலிருந்து எழும்பிவந்து நின்று, முன் சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளையே சொன்னான்; அதைத் தாவீது கேட்டான்.

23. And as hee talked with them, beholde, the man that was betweene the two armies, came vp, (whose name was Goliath ye Philistim of Gath) out of the armie of the Philistims, and spake such woordes, and Dauid heard them.

24. இஸ்ரவேலர் எல்லாரும் அந்த மனுஷனைக் காணும்போது மிகவும் பயப்பட்டு, அவன் முகத்துக்கு விலகி ஓடிப்போவார்கள்.

24. And all the men of Israel, when they sawe the man, ranne away from him, and were sore afraied.

25. அந்நேரத்திலே இஸ்ரவேலர்: வந்து நிற்கிற அந்த மனுஷனைக் கண்டீர்களா, இஸ்ரவேலை நிந்திக்க வந்து நிற்கிறான்; இவனைக் கொல்லுகிறவன் எவனோ, அவனை ராஜா மிகவும் ஐசுவரியவானாக்கி, அவனுக்குத் தம்முடைய குமாரத்தியைத் தந்து, அவன் தகப்பன் வீட்டாருக்கு இஸ்ரவேலிலே சர்வமானியம் கொடுப்பார் என்றார்கள்.

25. For euery man of Israel saide, Sawe yee not this man that commeth vp? euen to reuile Israel is he come vp: and to him that killeth him, wil the king giue great riches, and will giue him his daughter, yea, and make his fathers house free in Israel.

26. அப்பொழுது தாவீது தன்னண்டையிலே நிற்கிறவர்களைப் பார்த்து, இந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனைக் கொன்று இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு நேரிட்ட நிந்தையை நீக்குகிறவனுக்கு என்ன செய்யப்படும்; ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய சேனைகளை நிந்திக்கிறதற்கு விருத்தசேதனம் இல்லாத இந்த பெலிஸ்தன் எம்மாத்திரம் என்றான்.

26. Then Dauid spake to the men that stoode with him, and sayde, What shall be done to the man that killeth this Philistim, and taketh away the shame from Israel? for who is this vncircumcised Philistim, that he shoulde reuile the hoste of the liuing God?

27. அதற்கு ஜனங்கள்: அவனைக் கொல்லுகிறவனுக்கு இன்ன இன்னபடி செய்யப்படும் என்று முன் சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளையே அவனுக்குச் சொன்னார்கள்.

27. And the people answered him after this maner, saying, Thus shall it be done to the man that killeth him.

28. அந்த மனுஷரோடே அவன் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கிறதை அவன் மூத்த சகோதரனாகிய எலியாப் கேட்டபோது, அவன் தாவீதின்மேல் கோபங்கொண்டு: நீ இங்கே வந்தது என்ன? வனாந்தரத்திலுள்ள அந்தக் கொஞ்ச ஆடுகளை நீ யார் வசத்தில் விட்டாய்? யுத்தத்தைப் பார்க்க அல்லவா வந்தாய்? உன் துணிகரத்தையும், உன் இருதயத்தின் அகங்காரத்தையும் நான் அறிவேன் என்றான்.

28. And Eliab his eldest brother heard when he spake vnto the men, and Eliab was verie angrie with Dauid, and sayde, Why camest thou downe hither? and with whome hast thou left those fewe sheepe in the wildernesse? I knowe thy pride and the malice of thine heart, that thou art come downe to see the battell.

29. அதற்குத் தாவீது: நான் இப்பொழுது செய்தது என்ன? நான் வந்ததற்கு முகாந்தரம் இல்லையா என்று சொல்லி,

29. Then Dauid sayde, What haue I nowe done? Is there not a cause?

30. அவனை விட்டு, வேறொருவனிடத்தில் திரும்பி, அந்தப்பிரகாரமாகவே கேட்டான்; ஜனங்கள் முன்போலவே உத்தரவு சொன்னார்கள்.

30. And hee departed from him into the presence of another, and spake of the same maner, and the people answered him according to the former woordes.

31. தாவீது சொன்ன வார்த்தைகளை அவர்கள் கேட்டு, அதைச் சவுலின் சமுகத்தில் அறிவித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவன் அவனை அழைப்பித்தான்.

31. And they that heard the wordes which Dauid spake, rehearsed them before Saul, which caused him to be brought.

32. தாவீது சவுலை நோக்கி: இவனிமித்தம் ஒருவனுடைய இருதயமும் கலங்க வேண்டியதில்லை; உம்முடைய அடியானாகிய நான் போய், இந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனோடே யுத்தம்பண்ணுவேன் என்றான்.

32. So Dauid saide to Saul, Let no mans heart faile him, because of him: thy seruant wil goe, and fight with this Philistim.

33. அப்பொழுது சவுல் தாவீதை நோக்கி: நீ இந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனோடே எதிர்த்து யுத்தம்பண்ண உன்னால் ஆகாது; நீ இளைஞன், அவனோ தன் சிறுவயது முதல் யுத்தவீரன் என்றான்.

33. And Saul sayde to Dauid, Thou art not able to goe against this Philistim to fight with him: for thou art a boye, and he is a man of warre from his youth.

34. தாவீது சவுலைப்பார்த்து: உம்முடைய அடியான் என் தகப்பனுடைய ஆடுகளை மேய்த்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறபோது, ஒரு விசை ஒரு சிங்கமும் ஒரு விசை ஒரு கரடியும் வந்து, மந்தையிலிருக்கிற ஒரு ஆட்டைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டது.

34. And Dauid answered vnto Saul, Thy seruant kept his fathers sheepe, and there came a lyon, and likewise a beare, and tooke a sheepe out of the flocke,

35. நான் அதைத் தொடர்ந்துபோய், அதை அடித்து, அதை அதின் வாய்க்குத் தப்புவித்தேன்; அது என்மேல் பாய்ந்தபோது, நான் அதின் தாடியைப் பிடித்து, அதை அடித்துக் கொன்று போட்டேன்.

35. And I went out after him and smote him, and tooke it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by the beard, and smote him, and slue him.

36. அந்தச் சிங்கத்தையும் அந்தக் கரடியையும் உம்முடைய அடியானாகிய நான் கொன்றேன்; விருத்தசேதனமில்லாத இந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனும் அவைகளில் ஒன்றைப் போல இருப்பான்; அவன் ஜீவனுள்ள தேவனுடைய சேனைகளை நிந்தித்தானே என்றான்.

36. So thy seruaunt slue both the lyon, and the beare: therefore this vncircumcised Philistim shall be as one of them, seeing hee hath railed on the hoste of the liuing God.

37. பின்னும் தாவீது: என்னைச் சிங்கத்தின் கைக்கும் கரடியின் கைக்கும் தப்புவித்த கர்த்தர் இந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனுடைய கைக்கும் தப்புவிப்பார் என்றான்; அப்பொழுது சவுல் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: போ, கர்த்தர் உன்னுடனேகூட இருப்பாராக என்றான்.

37. Moreouer Dauid sayd, The Lord that deliuered me out of the pawe of the lyon, and out of the paw of the beare, he wil deliuer me out of the hand of this Philistim. Then Saul sayd vnto Dauid, Go, and the Lord be with thee.

38. சவுல் தாவீதுக்குத் தன் வஸ்திரங்களை உடுத்துவித்து வெண்கலமான ஒரு சீராவை அவன் தலையின்மேல் போட்டு, ஒரு கவசத்தையும் அவனுக்குத் தரிப்பித்தான்.

38. And Saul put his rayment vpon Dauid, and put an helmet of brasse vpon his head, and put a brigandine vpon him.

39. அவனுடைய பட்டயத்தை தாவீது தன் வஸ்திரங்கள்மேல் கட்டிக்கொண்டு, அதிலே அவனுக்குப் பழக்கமில்லாததினால் நடந்து பார்த்தான்; அப்பொழுது தாவீது சவுலை நோக்கி: நான் இவைகளைப் போட்டுக்கொண்டு போகக்கூடாது; இந்த அப்பியாசம் எனக்கு இல்லை என்று சொல்லி, அவைகளைக் களைந்துபோட்டு,

39. Then girded Dauid his sword vpon his rayment, and began to go: for he neuer proued it: and Dauid sayde vnto Saul, I can not goe with these: for I am not accustomed. wherefore Dauid put them off him.

40. தன் தடியைக் கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, ஆற்றிலிருக்கிற ஐந்து கூழாங்கல்லுகளைத் தெரிந்தெடுத்து, அவைகளை மேய்ப்பருக்குரிய தன்னுடைய அடைப்பப்பையிலே போட்டு, தன் கவணைத் தன் கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டு, அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனண்டையிலே போனான்.

40. Then tooke he his staffe in his hand, and chose him fiue smoothe stones out of a brooke, and put them in his shepheards bagge or skrippe, and his sling was in his hand, and he drewe neere to the Philistim.

41. பெலிஸ்தனும் நடந்து, தாவீதண்டைக்குக் கிட்டி வந்தான்; பரிசையைப் பிடிக்கிறவன் அவனுக்கு முன்னாக நடந்தான்.

41. And the Philistim came and drew neere vnto Dauid, and the man that bare the shielde went before him.

42. பெலிஸ்தன் சுற்றிப்பார்த்து: தாவீதைக் கண்டு, அவன் இளைஞனும் சவுந்தரிய ரூபமான சிவந்த மேனியுள்ளவனுமாயிருந்தபடியினால், அவனை அசட்டைபண்ணினான்.

42. Now when the Philistim looked about and saw Dauid, he disdeined him: for he was but yong, ruddie, and of a comely face.

43. பெலிஸ்தன் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: நீ தடிகளோடே என்னிடத்தில் வர நான் நாயா என்று சொல்லி, அவன் தன் தேவர்களைக்கொண்டு தாவீதைச் சபித்தான்.

43. And the Philistim sayde vnto Dauid, Am I a dog, that thou commest to me with staues? And the Philistim cursed Dauid by his gods.

44. பின்னும் அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தன் தாவீதைப் பார்த்து: என்னிடத்தில் வா; நான் உன் மாம்சத்தை ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளுக்கும் காட்டு மிருகங்களுக்கும் கொடுப்பேன் என்றான்.

44. And the Philistim sayd to Dauid, Come to me, and I will giue thy flesh vnto the foules of the heauen, and to the beastes of the field.

45. அதற்குத் தாவீது: பெலிஸ்தனை நோக்கி: நீ பட்டயத்தோடும், ஈட்டியோடும், கேடகத்தோடும் என்னிடத்தில் வருகிறாய்; நானோ நீ நிந்தித்த இஸ்ரவேலுடைய இராணுவங்களின் தேவனாகிய சேனைகளுடைய கர்த்தரின் நாமத்திலே உன்னிடத்தில் வருகிறேன்.

45. Then sayd Dauid to the Philistim, Thou commest to me with a sword, and with a speare, and with a shield, but I come to thee in the Name of the Lord of hostes, the God of the hoste of Israel, whom thou hast rayled vpon.

46. இன்றையதினம் கர்த்தர் உன்னை என் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார்; நான் உன்னைக் கொன்று, உன் தலையை உன்னை விட்டு வாங்கி, பெலிஸ்தருடைய பாளயத்தின் பிணங்களை இன்றையதினம் ஆகாயத்துப் பறவைகளுக்கும், பூமியின் காட்டு மிருகங்களுக்கும் கொடுப்பேன்; அதனால் இஸ்ரவேலில் தேவன் ஒருவர் உண்டு என்று பூலோகத்தார் எல்லாரும் அறிந்துகொள்ளுவார்கள்.

46. This day shall the Lord close thee in mine hand, and I shall smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I wil giue the carkeises of the hoste of the Philistims this daye vnto the foules of the heauen, and to the beasts of the earth, that all the world may know that Israel hath a God,

47. கர்த்தர் பட்டயத்தினாலும் ஈட்டியினாலும் இரட்சிக்கிறவர் அல்ல என்று இந்த ஜனக்கூட்டமெல்லாம் அறிந்து கொள்ளும்; யுத்தம் கர்த்தருடையது; அவர் உங்களை எங்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்பார் என்றான்.

47. And that all this assembly may know, that the Lord saueth not with sworde nor with speare (for the battel is the Lords) and he will giue you into our handes.

48. அப்பொழுது அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தன் எழும்பி, தாவீதுக்கு எதிராகக் கிட்டி வருகையில், தாவீது தீவிரமாய் அந்தச் சேனைக்கும் அந்தப் பெலிஸ்தனுக்கும் எதிராக ஓடி,

48. And when the Philistim arose to come and drawe neere vnto Dauid, Dauid hasted and ran to fight against the Philistim.

49. தன் கையை அடைப்பத்திலே போட்டு, அதிலிருந்து ஒரு கல்லை எடுத்து, கவணிலே வைத்துச் சுழற்றி, பெலிஸ்தனுடைய நெற்றியிலே பட எறிந்தான்; அந்தக் கல் அவன் நெற்றியில் பதிந்து போனதினால், அவன் தரையிலே முகங்குப்புற விழுந்தான்.

49. And Dauid put his hande in his bagge, and tooke out a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistim in his forehead, that the stone sticked in his forehead, and he fell groueling to the earth.

50. இவ்விதமாகத் தாவீது ஒரு கவணினாலும் ஒரு கல்லினாலும் பெலிஸ்தனை மேற்கொண்டு, அவனை மடங்கடித்து, அவனைக் கொன்று போட்டான்; தாவீதின் கையில் பட்டயம் இல்லாதிருந்தது.

50. So Dauid ouercame the Philistim with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistim, and slew him, when Dauid had no sword in his hand.

51. ஆகையால் தாவீது பெலிஸ்தனண்டையில் ஓடி அவன்மேல் நின்று, அவன் பட்டயத்தை எடுத்து, அதை அதின் உறையிலிருந்து உருவி, அவனைக்கொன்று அதினாலே அவன் தலையை வெட்டிப்போட்டான்; அப்பொழுது தங்கள் வீரன் செத்துப்போனான் என்று பெலிஸ்தர் கண்டு, ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.

51. Then Dauid ranne, and stood vpon the Philistim, and tooke his sword and drew it out of his sheath, and slewe him, and cut off his head therewith. So whe the Philistims saw, that their champion was dead, they fled.

52. அப்பொழுது இஸ்ரவேலரும் யூதா மனுஷரும் எழும்பி, ஆர்ப்பரித்து, பள்ளத்தாக்கின் எல்லைமட்டும், எக்ரோனின் வாசல்கள்மட்டும், பெலிஸ்தரைத் துரத்தினார்கள்; சாராயீமின் வழியிலும், காத் பட்டணமட்டும், எக்ரோன் பட்டணமட்டும், பெலிஸ்தர் வெட்டுண்டு விழுந்தார்கள்.

52. And the men of Israel and Iudah arose, and shouted, and followed after the Philistims, vntill they came to the valley, and vnto the gates of Ekron: and the Philistims fell downe wounded by the way of Shaaraim, euen to Gath and to Ekron.

53. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் பெலிஸ்தரை மூர்க்கமாய்த் துரத்தின பிற்பாடு, திரும்பி வந்து, அவர்களுடைய பாளயங்களைக் கொள்ளையிட்டார்கள்.

53. And the children of Israel returned from pursuing the Philistims, and spoyled their tents.

54. தாவீது பெலிஸ்தனுடைய தலையை எடுத்து, அதை எருசலேமுக்குக் கொண்டு வந்தான்; அவன் ஆயுதங்களையோ தன் கூடாரத்திலே வைத்தான்.

54. And Dauid tooke the head of ye Philistim, and brought it to Ierusalem, and put his armour in his tent.

55. தாவீது பெலிஸ்தனுக்கு எதிராகப் புறப்பட்டுப் போகிறதைச் சவுல் கண்டபோது, அவன் சேனாபதியாகிய அப்னேரைப் பார்த்து: அப்னேரே, இந்த வாலிபன் யாருடைய மகன் என்று கேட்டான்; அதற்கு அப்னேர்: ராஜாவே, எனக்குத் தெரியாது என்று உம்முடைய ஜீவனைக்கொண்டு சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றான்.

55. When Saul sawe Dauid go forth against the Philistim, he sayd vnto Abner the captaine of his hoste, Abner, whose sonne is this yong man? and Abner answered, As thy soule liueth, O King, I can not tell.

56. அப்பொழுது ராஜா: அந்தப் பிள்ளையாண்டான் யாருடைய மகன் என்று விசாரி என்றான்.

56. Then the King sayde, Enquire thou whose sonne this yong man is.

57. தாவீது பெலிஸ்தனைக் கொன்று திரும்புகையில், அப்னேர் அவனைச் சவுலுக்கு முன்பாக அழைத்துக்கொண்டு போய்விட்டான்; பெலிஸ்தனுடைய தலை அவன் கையில் இருந்தது.

57. And when Dauid was returned from the slaughter of the Philistim, then Abner tooke him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistim in his hand.

58. அப்பொழுது சவுல்: வாலிபனே, நீ யாருடைய மகன் என்று அவனைக்கேட்டதற்கு, தாவீது: நான் பெத்லெகேம் ஊரானாயிருக்கிற உம்முடைய அடியானாகிய ஈசாயின் மகன் என்றான்.

58. And Saul sayde to him, Whose sonne art thou, thou yong man? And Dauid answered, I am the sonne of thy seruant Ishai the Bethlehemite.
