1. ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் யோர்தானைக் கடந்து தீர்ந்தபோது, கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி:

1. And when all the people were wholy gone ouer Iorden, (after the Lord had spoken vnto Ioshua, saying,

2. நீங்கள், ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரத்திற்கு ஒவ்வொருவராக ஜனங்களில் பன்னிரண்டுபேரைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு,

2. Take you twelue me out of the people, out of euery tribe a man,

3. இங்கே யோர்தானின் நடுவிலே ஆசாரியர்களின் கால்கள் நிலையாய் நின்ற இடத்திலே பன்னிரண்டு கற்களை எடுத்து, அவைகளை உங்களோடேகூட அக்கரைக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், நீங்கள் இன்று இரவில் தங்கும் ஸ்தானத்திலே அவைகளை வையுங்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடுங்கள் என்றார்.

3. And command you them, saying, Take you hence out of the middes of Iorden, out of the place where the Priestes stoode in a readinesse, twelue stones, which ye shall take away with you, and leaue them in the lodging where you shall lodge this night)

4. அப்பொழுது யோசுவா இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரில் ஒவ்வொரு கோத்திரத்திற்கு ஒவ்வொருவராக ஆயத்தப்படுத்தியிருந்த பன்னிரண்டுபேரை அழைத்து,

4. Then Ioshua called the twelue men, whome he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of euery tribe a man,

5. அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் யோர்தானின் மத்தியில் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோய், உங்களுக்குள்ளே ஒரு அடையாளமாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய கோத்திரங்களின் இலக்கத்திற்குச் சரியாக, உங்களில் ஒவ்வொருவன் ஒவ்வொரு கல்லைத் தன் தோளின்மேல் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போங்கள்.

5. And Ioshua said vnto them, Go ouer before the Arke of the Lord your God, euen through the middes of Iorden, and take vp euery man of you a stone vpon his shoulder according vnto the nomber of the tribes of the children of Israel,

6. நாளை இந்தக் கற்கள் ஏதென்று உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் உங்களைக் கேட்கும்போது,

6. That this may bee a signe among you, that whe your children shall aske their fathers in time to come, saying, What meane you by these stones?

7. நீங்கள்: கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாக யோர்தானின் தண்ணீர் பிரிந்துபோனதினால் அவைகள் வைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது; யோர்தானைக் கடந்துபோகிறபோது, யோர்தானின் தண்ணீர் பிரிந்துபோயிற்று; ஆகையால் இந்தக் கற்கள் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு என்றைக்கும் நினைப்பூட்டும் அடையாளம் என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றான்.

7. Then ye may answere them, That the waters of Iorden were cut off before the Arke of the couenant of the Lord: for when it passed through Iorden, the waters of Iorden were cut off: therefore these stones are a memoriall vnto the children of Israel for euer.

8. யோசுவா கட்டளையிட்டபடி இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் செய்து, கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவோடே சொன்னபடியே, இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருடைய கோத்திரங்களின் இலக்கத்திற்குச் சரியாகப் பன்னிரண்டு கற்களை யோர்தானின் நடுவில் எடுத்து, அவைகளைத் தங்களோடேகூட அக்கரைக்குக் கொண்டுபோய், தாங்கள் தங்கின இடத்திலே வைத்தார்கள்.

8. Then ye children of Israel did euen so as Ioshua had commanded, and tooke vp twelue stones out of the mids of Iorden as ye Lord had said vnto Ioshua, according to the nomber of the tribes of the children of Israel, and caried them away with them vnto the lodging, and layd them down there.

9. யோர்தானின் நடுவிலும் உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியைச் சுமந்த ஆசாரியரின் கால்கள் நின்ற இடத்திலே யோசுவா பன்னிரண்டு கற்களை நாட்டினான்; அவைகள் இந்நாள்மட்டும் அங்கே இருக்கிறது.

9. And Ioshua set vp twelue stones in the middes of Iorden, in the place where the feete of the Priests, which bare the Arke of the couenant stood, and there haue they continued vnto this day.

10. மோசே யோசுவாவுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டிருந்த எல்லாவற்றின்படியும் ஜனங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும்படி, கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டவையெல்லாம் செய்து முடியுமட்டும், பெட்டியைச் சுமக்கிற ஆசாரியர் யோர்தானின் நடுவே நின்றார்கள்; ஜனங்கள் தீவிரித்துக் கடந்துபோனார்கள்.

10. So the Priests, which bare ye Arke, stoode in the middes of Iorden, vntill euery thing was finished that ye Lord had comanded Ioshua to say vnto the people, according to all that Moses charged Ioshua: then the people hasted and went ouer.

11. ஜனமெல்லாம் கடந்துபோனபின்பு, கர்த்தருடைய பெட்டியும் கடந்தது; ஆசாரியர் ஜனத்துக்கு முன்பாகப் போனார்கள்.

11. When all the people were cleane passed ouer, the Arke of the Lord went ouer also, and the Priests before the people.

12. ரூபன் புத்திரரும் காத் புத்திரரும் மனாசேயின் பாதிக் கோத்திரத்தாரும் மோசே தங்களுக்குச் சொன்னபடியே அணியணியாய் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரருக்கு முன்பாகக் கடந்துபோனார்கள்.

12. And the sonnes of Reuben, and the sonnes of Gad, and halfe the tribe of Manasseh went ouer before the children of Israel armed, as Moses had charged them.

13. ஏறக்குறைய நாற்பதினாயிரம்பேர் யுத்த சன்னத்தராய் யுத்தம்பண்ணும்படி, கர்த்தருக்கு முன்பாக எரிகோவின் சமனான வெளிகளுக்குக் கடந்துபோனார்கள்.

13. Euen fourty thousand prepared for warre, went before the Lord vnto battel, into ye plaine of Iericho.

14. அந்நாளிலே கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவைச் சகல இஸ்ரவேலரின் கண்களுக்கு முன்பாகவும் மேன்மைப்படுத்தினார்; அவர்கள் மோசேக்குப் பயந்திருந்ததுபோல, அவனுக்கும், அவன் உயிரோடிருந்த நாளெல்லாம் பயந்திருந்தார்கள்.

14. That day the Lord magnified Ioshua in the sight of all Israel, and they feared him, as they feared Moses all dayes of his life.

15. கர்த்தர் யோசுவாவை நோக்கி:

15. And the Lord spake vnto Ioshua, saying,

16. சாட்சியின் பெட்டியைச் சுமக்கிற ஆசாரியர் யோர்தானிலிருந்து கரையேறும்படி அவர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிடு என்று சொன்னார்.

16. Commande the Priests that beare ye Arke of the testimonie, to come vp out of Iorden.

17. யோசுவா: யோர்தானிலிருந்து கரையேறி வாருங்கள் என்று ஆசாரியர்களுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டான்.

17. Ioshua therefore commanded the Priests, saying, Come ye vp out of Iorden.

18. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தருடைய உடன்படிக்கைப் பெட்டியைச் சுமக்கிற ஆசாரியர் யோர்தான் நடுவிலிருந்து ஏறி, அவர்கள் உள்ளங்கால்கள் கரையில் ஊன்றினபோது, யோர்தானின் தண்ணீர்கள் தங்களிடத்துக்குத் திரும்பி, முன்போல அதின் கரையெங்கும் புரண்டது.

18. And when the Priests that bare the Arke of the couenant of ye Lord were come vp out of the middes of Iorden, and assoone as the soles of the Priests feete were set on the dry land, the waters of Iorde returned vnto their place, and flowed ouer all the bankes thereof, as they did before.

19. இந்தப் பிரகாரமாக முதல் மாதம் பத்தாம் தேதியிலே ஜனங்கள் யோர்தானிலிருந்து கரையேறி, எரிகோவுக்குக் கீழெல்லையான கில்காலிலே பாளயமிறங்கினார்கள்.

19. So the people came vp out of Iorden the tenth day of the first moneth, and pitched in Gilgal, in the Eastside of Iericho.

20. அவர்கள் யோர்தானில் எடுத்துக்கொண்டுவந்த அந்தப் பன்னிரண்டு கற்களையும் யோசுவா கில்காலிலே நாட்டி,

20. Also the twelue stones, which they tooke out of Iorden, did Ioshua pitch in Gilgal.

21. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரை நோக்கி: நாளை உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் இந்தக் கற்கள் ஏதென்று தங்கள் பிதாக்களைக் கேட்கும்போது,

21. And he spake vnto ye childre of Israel, saying, When your children shall aske their fathers in time to come, and say, What meane these stones?

22. நீங்கள் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு அறிவிக்கவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால்: இஸ்ரவேலர் வெட்டாந்தரை வழியாய் இந்த யோர்தானைக் கடந்துவந்தார்கள்.

22. Then ye shall shew your children, and say, Israel came ouer this Iorden on dry land:

23. பூமியின் சகல ஜனங்களும் கர்த்தருடைய கரம் பலத்ததென்று அறியும்படிக்கும், நீங்கள் சகல நாளும் உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குப் பயப்படும்படிக்கும்,

23. For the Lord your God dryed vp ye waters of Iorden before you, vntill ye were gone ouer, as the Lord your God did the red Sea, which hee dryed vp before vs, till we were gone ouer,

24. உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்தின் தண்ணீரை நாங்கள் கடந்து தீருமட்டும் எங்களுக்கு முன்பாக வற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணினதுபோல, உங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் யோர்தானின் தண்ணீருக்கும் செய்து, அதை உங்களுக்கு முன்பாக நீங்கள் கடந்து தீருமளவும் வற்றிப்போகப்பண்ணினார் என்று அறிவிக்கக்கடவீர்கள் என்றான்.

24. That all the people of the worlde may know that the hand of the Lord is mightie, that ye might feare the Lord your God continually.
