1. These are the lands which the people of Israel received in the land of Canaan. They were given to them as a gift by Eleazar the religious leader, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers' houses of the families of the people of Israel.

2. ஒன்பதரைக் கோத்திரங்களுக்கும் சுதந்தரமாகப் பங்கிட்டார்கள்.

2. Their share was decided upon by drawing names, as the Lord told Moses, for the nine families and the half-family group.

3. மற்ற இரண்டரைக் கோத்திரங்களுக்கும் மோசே யோர்தானுக்கு அப்புறத்திலே சுதந்தரம் கொடுத்திருந்தான்; லேவியருக்கு மாத்திரம் அவர்கள் நடுவே சுதந்தரம் கொடுக்கவில்லை.

3. For Moses had given land to the two families and the half-family group east of the Jordan. But he did not give land to the Levites among them.

4. மனாசே எப்பிராயீம் என்னும் யோசேப்பின் புத்திரர் இரண்டு கோத்திரங்களானார்கள்; ஆதலால் அவர்கள் லேவியருக்கு தேசத்திலே பங்குகொடாமல், குடியிருக்கும்படி பட்டணங்களையும், அவர்களுடைய ஆடுமாடுகள் முதலான சொத்துக்காக வெளிநிலங்களையுமாத்திரம் அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்தார்கள்.

4. Because the sons of Joseph were two families, Manasseh and Ephraim. And they did not give part of the land to the Levites. They only gave them cities to live in, with fields for their animals and whatever they had.

5. கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கட்டளையிட்டபடி இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் செய்து, தேசத்தைப் பங்கிட்டார்கள்.

5. The people of Israel did just as the Lord had told Moses. They divided the land.

6. அப்பொழுது யூதாவின் புத்திரர் கில்காலிலே யோசுவாவினிடத்தில் வந்தார்கள்; கேனாசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேப் அவனை நோக்கி: காதேஸ்பர்னெயாவிலே கர்த்தர் என்னைக்குறித்தும் உம்மைக்குறித்தும் தேவனுடைய மனுஷனாகிய மோசேயோடே சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நீர் அறிவீர்.

6. Then the sons of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, 'You know what the Lord said to Moses the man of God about you and me in Kadesh-barnea.

7. தேசத்தை வேவுபார்க்கக் கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே என்னைக் காதேஸ்பர்னெயாவிலிருந்து அனுப்புகிறபோது, எனக்கு நாற்பது வயதாயிருந்தது; என் இருதயத்திலுள்ளபடியே அவருக்கு மறுசெய்தி கொண்டு வந்தேன்.

7. I was forty years old when the Lord's servant Moses sent me from Kadesh-barnea to spy out the land. I returned with news for him as it was in my heart.

8. ஆனாலும் என்னோடேகூட வந்த என் சகோதரர் ஜனத்தின் இருதயத்தைக் கரையப்பண்ணினார்கள்; நானோ என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றினேன்.

8. My brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people weak with fear. But I followed the Lord my God with all my heart.

9. அந்நாளிலே மோசே: நீ என் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை உத்தமமாய்ப் பின்பற்றினபடியினால், உன் கால் மிதித்த தேசம் உனக்கும் உன் பிள்ளைகளுக்கும் என்றைக்கும் சுதந்தரமாயிருக்கக்கடவது என்று சொல்லி ஆணையிட்டார்.

9. So Moses promised on that day, 'For sure the land where your foot has stepped will be a gift to you and your children forever. Because you have followed the Lord my God with all your heart.'

10. இப்போதும், இதோ, கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடியே என்னை உயிரோடே காத்தார்; இஸ்ரவேலர் வனாந்தரத்தில் சஞ்சரிக்கையில், கர்த்தர் அந்த வார்த்தையை மோசேயோடே சொல்லி இப்போது நாற்பத்தைந்து வருஷமாயிற்று; இதோ, இன்று நான் எண்பத்தைந்து வயதுள்ளவன்.

10. Now see, the Lord has let me live, as He said, these forty-five years since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel walked in the desert. Today I am eighty-five years old.

11. மோசே என்னை அனுப்புகிற நாளில், எனக்கு இருந்த அந்தப் பெலன் இந்நாள் வரைக்கும் எனக்கு இருக்கிறது; யுத்தத்திற்குப் போக்கும் வரத்துமாயிருக்கிறதற்கு அப்போது எனக்கு இருந்த பெலன் இப்போதும் எனக்கு இருக்கிறது.

11. I am as strong today as I was the day Moses sent me. I am as strong now as I was then, for war, or for anything.

12. ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அந்நாளிலே சொன்ன இந்த மலைநாட்டை எனக்குத்தாரும்; அங்கே ஏனாக்கியரும், அரணிப்பான பெரிய பட்டணங்களும் உண்டென்று நீர் அந்நாளிலே கேள்விப்பட்டீரே; கர்த்தர் என்னோடிருப்பாரானால், கர்த்தர் சொன்னபடி, அவர்களைத் துரத்திவிடுவேன் என்றான்.

12. So now give me this hill country the Lord spoke about on that day. For you heard then that big powerful men were there, with strong cities with high walls. If the Lord will be with me, I will drive them out just as the Lord said.'

13. அப்பொழுது யோசுவா: எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேபை ஆசீர்வதித்து, எபிரோனை அவனுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தான்.

13. So Joshua prayed that God would favor him. And he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for his share.

14. ஆதலால் கேனாசியனான எப்புன்னேயின் குமாரனாகிய காலேப் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை உத்தமமாய் பின்பற்றினபடியினால், இந்நாள்மட்டும் இருக்கிறபடி, எபிரோன் அவனுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாயிற்று.

14. Hebron became the land of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day. Because he followed the Lord God of Israel with all his heart.

15. முன்னே எபிரோனுக்குக் கீரியாத் அர்பா என்று பேரிருந்தது; அர்பா என்பவன் ஏனாக்கியருக்குள்ளே பெரிய மனுஷனாயிருந்தான்; யுத்தம் ஓய்ந்ததினால் தேசம் அமைதலாயிருந்தது.

15. The name of Hebron had been Kiriath-arba. For Arba was the most powerful among the big powerful men. Then the land had rest from war.
