1. THEN HE was praying in a certain place; and when He stopped, one of His disciples said to Him, Lord, teach us to pray, [just] as John taught his disciples.

2. அதற்கு அவர்: நீங்கள் ஜெபம்பண்ணும்போது: பரமண்டலங்களிலிருக்கிற எங்கள் பிதாவே, உம்முடைய நாமம் பரிசுத்தப்படுவதாக; உம்முடைய ராஜ்யம் வருவதாக; உம்முடைய சித்தம் பரமண்டலத்திலே செய்யப்படுகிறதுபோல பூமியிலேயும் செய்யப்படுவதாக;

2. And He said to them, When you pray, say: Our Father Who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come. Your will be done [held holy and revered] on earth as it is in heaven.

3. எங்களுக்கு வேண்டிய ஆகாரத்தை அன்றன்றும் எங்களுக்குத் தாரும்;

3. Give us daily our bread [food for the morrow].

4. எங்கள் பாவங்களை எங்களுக்கு மன்னியும்; நாங்களும் எங்களிடத்தில் கடன்பட்ட எவனுக்கும் மன்னிக்கிறோமே; எங்களைச் சோதனைக்குட்படப்பண்ணாமல், தீமையினின்று எங்களை இரட்சித்துக் கொள்ளும், என்று சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்.

4. 'And forgive us our sins, for also we ourselves forgive every [one] being indebted to us; and do not lead us into temptation,_but_ deliver us from evil [or, the evil [one]].''

5. And He said to them, 'Which of you* will have a friend and will go to him at midnight and say to him, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,

6. என் சிநேகிதன் ஒருவன் வழிப்பிரயாணமாய் என்னிடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறான், அவன்முன் வைக்கிறதற்கு என்னிடத்தில் ஒன்றுமில்லை, நீ மூன்று அப்பங்களை எனக்குக் கடனாகத் தரவேண்டும் என்று கேட்டுக்கொண்டான்.

6. since a friend came to me from a journey, and I do not have what I would set before him;'

7. வீட்டுக்குள் இருக்கிறவன் பிரதியுத்தரமாக: என்னைத் தொந்தரவு செய்யாதே, கதவு பூட்டியாயிற்று, என் பிள்ளைகள் என்னோடேகூடப் படுத்திருக்கிறார்கள், நான் எழுந்திருந்து, உனக்குத் தரக்கூடாது என்று சொன்னான்.

7. and that [one] answering from within shall say, 'Stop causing me troubles! The door has already been shut, and my young children are with me in bed. I am not able, having gotten up, to give to you.'

8. 'I say to you*, even if he will not give to him, having gotten up, because of him being a friend, yet because of his shameless persistence, having gotten up, he will give to him as much as he needs.

9. மேலும் நான் உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறதாவது: கேளுங்கள், அப்பொழுது உங்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படும்; தேடுங்கள், அப்பொழுது கண்டடைவீர்கள்; தட்டுங்கள், அப்பொழுது உங்களுக்குத் திறக்கப்படும்.

9. And_I_ say to you*, be asking, and it will be given to you*; be seeking, and you* will find; be knocking, and it will be opened to you*.

10. ஏனென்றால், கேட்கிறவன் எவனும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளுகிறான்; தேடுகிறவன் கண்டடைகிறான்; தட்டுகிறவனுக்குத் திறக்கப்படும்.

10. For every [one] asking receives, and the one seeking finds, and to the one knocking it will be opened.

11. உங்களில் தகப்பனாயிருக்கிற ஒருவனிடத்தில் மகன் அப்பங்கேட்டால், அவனுக்குக் கல்லைக் கொடுப்பானா? மீனைக்கேட்டால் மீனுக்குப் பதிலாய்ப் பாம்பைக் கொடுப்பானா?

11. Now which father [among] you*, [if] his son will ask [for] a loaf of bread, he will not give to him a stone, will he? Or also [if he asks for] a fish, he will not give to him a serpent instead of a fish, will he?

12. அல்லது முட்டையைக் கேட்டால், அவனுக்குத் தேளைக் கொடுப்பானா?

12. Or also if he asks [for] an egg, he will not give to him a scorpion, will he?

13. பொல்லாதவர்களாகிய நீங்கள் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு நல்ல ஈவுகளைக் கொடுக்க அறிந்திருக்கும்போது, பரமபிதாவானவர் தம்மிடத்தில் வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களுக்குப் பரிசுத்த ஆவியைக் கொடுப்பது அதிக நிச்சயம் அல்லவா என்றார்.

13. If you* then being evil know [how] to be giving good gifts to your* children, how much more will the Father of heaven [fig., your* heavenly Father] give [the] Holy Spirit to the ones asking Him?'

14. பின்பு அவர் ஊமையாயிருந்த ஒரு பிசாசைத் துரத்தினார். பிசாசு புறப்பட்டுப்போனபின்பு ஊமையன் பேசினான்; ஜனங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட்டார்கள்.

14. And He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. Then it happened, the demon having gone out, the mute [person] spoke, and the crowds marveled.

15. அவர்களில் சிலர்: இவன் பிசாசுகளின் தலைவனாகிய பெயெல்செபூலைக் கொண்டு பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்துகிறான் என்றார்கள்.

15. But some of them said, 'By Beelzebul [i.e. a Philistine deity, used as a name for the devil], ruler of the demons, He casts out demons.'

16. வேறு சிலர் அவரைச் சோதிக்கும்படி வானத்திலிருந்து ஒரு அடையாளத்தைக் காட்டவேண்டுமென்று அவரிடத்தில் கேட்டார்கள்.

16. But others, testing [Him], were seeking a sign from Him from heaven.

17. அவர்களுடைய சிந்தனைகளை அவர் அறிந்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: தனக்குத்தானே விரோதமாய்ப் பிரிந்திருக்கிற எந்த ராஜ்யமும் பாழாய்ப்போகும்; தனக்குத்தானே விரோதமாய்ப் பிரிந்திருக்கிற எந்த வீடும் விழுந்துபோகும்.

17. But knowing their thoughts,_He_ said to them, 'Every kingdom having been divided against itself is laid waste, and a house [divided] against a house falls.

18. சாத்தானும் தனக்குத்தானே விரோதமாய்ப் பிரிந்திருந்தால் அவன் ராஜ்யம் எப்படி நிலைநிற்கும்? இப்படியிருக்க, பெயெல்செபூலைக்கொண்டு நான் பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்துகிறேன் என்கிறீர்களே.

18. So if Satan also was divided against himself, how will his kingdom be made to stand? Because you* say [that] I am casting out demons by Beelzebul.

19. நான் பெயெல்செபூலினாலே பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்தினால், உங்கள் பிள்ளைகள் அவைகளை யாராலே துரத்துகிறார்கள்? ஆகையால், அவர்களே உங்களை நியாயந்தீர்க்கிறவர்களாயிருப்பார்கள்.

19. But if_I_ cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your* sons [fig., disciples] cast [them] out? For this reason they will be your* judges.

20. நான் தேவனுடைய விரலினாலே பிசாசுகளைத் துரத்துகிறபடியால், தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யம் உங்களிடத்தில் வந்திருக்கிறதே.

20. But if I cast out demons by the finger of God, in that case, the kingdom of God came upon you*.

21. ஆயுதந்தரித்த பலவான் தன் அரமனையைக்காக்கிறபோது, அவனுடைய பொருள் பத்திரப்பட்டிருக்கும்.

21. 'When the strong [man] having been fully armed is guarding his own palace, his possessions are in peace [fig., undisturbed].

22. அவனிலும் அதிக பலவான் வந்து, அவனை மேற்கொள்வானேயாகில், அவன் நம்பியிருந்த சகல ஆயுதவர்க்கத்தையும் பறித்துக்கொண்டு, அவனுடைய கொள்ளைப்பொருளைப் பங்கிடுவான்.

22. But when the [one] stronger than he, having come upon [him], overcomes him, he takes away his complete suit of armor in which he had relied on, and he distributes his spoils.

23. என்னோடே இராதவன் எனக்கு விரோதியாயிருக்கிறான், என்னோடே சேர்க்காதவன் சிதறடிக்கிறான்.

23. The [one] not with Me is against Me, and the [one] not gathering with Me scatters.

24. அசுத்த ஆவி ஒரு மனுஷனை விட்டுப்புறப்படும்போது, வறண்ட இடங்களில் அலைந்து, இளைப்பாறுதல் தேடியும் கண்டடையாமல்: நான் விட்டுவந்த என் வீட்டுக்குத் திரும்பிப்போவேன் என்று சொல்லி,

24. When the unclean [or, defiling] spirit goes out from the person, it goes through waterless places seeking rest, and not finding [any], it says, 'I will return to my house from where I came out.'

25. அதில் வரும்போது, அது பெருக்கி ஜோடிக்கப்பட்டிருக்கக் கண்டு,

25. And having come, it finds [it] having been swept and having been put in order.

26. திரும்பிப்போய், தன்னிலும் பொல்லாத வேறு ஏழு ஆவிகளைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டுவந்து, உட்புகுந்து, அங்கே குடியிருக்கும்; அப்பொழுது அந்த மனுஷனுடைய முன்னிலைமையிலும் அவன் பின்னிலைமை அதிக கேடுள்ளதாயிருக்கும் என்றார்.

26. Then it goes and takes along seven different spirits more evil [than] itself. And having come, they dwell there, and the last [state] of that person becomes worse [than] the first.'

27. அவர் இவைகளைச் சொல்லுகையில், ஜனக்கூட்டத்திலிருந்த ஒரு ஸ்திரீ அவரை நோக்கி: உம்மைச் சுமந்த கர்ப்பமும் நீர் பாலுண்ட முலைகளும் பாக்கியமுள்ளவைகளென்று சத்தமிட்டுச் சொன்னாள்.

27. Now it happened, while He [was] saying these [things], a certain woman from the crowd having raised [her] voice, said to Him, 'Happy [is] the womb, the one having carried You, and [the] breasts [from] which You nursed!'

28. அதற்கு அவர்: அப்படியானாலும், தேவனுடைய வார்த்தையைக் கேட்டு, அதைக் காத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களே அதிக பாக்கியவான்கள் என்றார்.

28. But He said, 'But rather, happy [are] the ones hearing the word of God and keeping [fig., obeying] [it]!'

29. ஜனங்கள் திரளாய்க் கூடிவந்திருக்கிறபொழுது அவர்: இந்தச் சந்ததியார் பொல்லாதவர்களாயிருக்கிறார்கள், அடையாளத்தைத் தேடுகிறார்கள்; ஆனாலும் யோனா தீர்க்கதரிசியின் அடையாளமேயன்றி வேறே அடையாளம் இவர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கப்படுவதில்லை.

29. Now [as] the crowds gathered even more, He began to be saying, 'This generation is evil. It seeks a sign, and a sign will not be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

30. யோனா நினிவே பட்டணத்தாருக்கு அடையாளமாயிருந்ததுபோல, மனுஷகுமாரனும் இந்தச் சந்ததிக்கு அடையாளமாயிருப்பார்.

30. 'For just as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Humanity be to this generation. [Jonah 1:17]

31. தென்தேசத்து ராஜஸ்திரீ சாலொமோனுடைய ஞானத்தைக் கேட்க பூமியின் எல்லைகளிலிருந்து வந்தாள்; இதோ, சாலொமோனிலும் பெரியவர் இங்கே இருக்கிறார்; ஆதலால் நியாயத்தீர்ப்பு நாளிலே அந்த ராஜஸ்திரீ இந்தச் சந்ததியாரோடெழுந்து நின்று, இவர்கள்மேல் குற்றஞ்சுமத்துவாள்.

31. [The] Queen of [the] South will be raised up in the judgment with the men of this generation and will condemn them, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And listen! [One] greater than Solomon [is] here!

32. யோனாவின் பிரசங்கத்தைக் கேட்டு நினிவே பட்டணத்தார் மனந்திரும்பினார்கள்; இதோ, யோனாவிலும் பெரியவர் இங்கே இருக்கிறார்; ஆதலால் நியாயத்தீர்ப்புநாளிலே நினிவே பட்டணத்தார் இந்தச் சந்ததியாரோடெழுந்து நின்று, இவர்கள்மேல் குற்றஞ்சுமத்துவார்கள்.

32. Men, Ninevites, will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it, because they repented at [or, because of] the proclamation of Jonah. And listen! [One] greater than Jonah [is] here! [Jonah 3:5]

33. ஒருவனும் விளக்கைக் கொளுத்தி, மறைவிடத்திலாவது, மரக்காலின் கீழேயாவது வைக்காமல், உள்ளே வருகிறவர்கள் வெளிச்சம்காணும்படி, அதை விளக்குத்தண்டின்மேல் வைப்பான்.

33. But no one having lit a lamp puts [it] in a hidden place [or, a cellar] nor under the basket,_but_ on the lamp-stand, so that the one coming in shall be seeing the light.

34. கண்ணானது சரீரத்தின் விளக்காயிருக்கிறது; உன் கண் தெளிவாயிருந்தால், உன் சரீரமுழுவதும் வெளிச்சமாயிருக்கும்; உன் கண் கெட்டதாயிருந்தால் உன் சரீரம் முழுவதும் இருளாயிருக்கும்.

34. The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore, when your eye is healthy, your whole body is also full of light. But when it is bad, your body is also dark.

35. ஆகையால் உன்னிலுள்ள வெளிச்சம் இருளாகாதபடிக்கு எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு.

35. Therefore, be watching out lest the light, the [one] in you, is darkness.

36. உன் சரீரம் ஒருபுறத்திலும் இருளடைந்திராமல் முழுவதும் வெளிச்சமாயிருந்தால், ஒரு விளக்கு தன் பிரகாசத்தினாலே உனக்கு வெளிச்சம் கொடுக்கிறதுபோல உன் சரீரமுழுவதும் வெளிச்சமாயிருக்கும் என்றார்.

36. So if your whole body is full of light, not having any part darkened, the whole will be full of light, like when the lamp by its brightness shall be giving you light.'

37. அவர் இப்படிப் பேசிக்கொண்டிருக்கையில், பரிசேயன் ஒருவன் தன்னுடனேகூட அவர் பகற்போஜனம்பண்ணவேண்டுமென்று அவரை வேண்டிக்கொண்டான்; அவர் போய்ப் பந்தியிருந்தார்.

37. Now while [He] [was] speaking, a certain Pharisee was asking Him that He should dine with him. So having entered, He reclined [to eat].

38. அவர் போஜனம்பண்ணுகிறதற்கு முன் கைகழுவாமலிருந்ததைப் பரிசேயன் கண்டு, ஆச்சரியப்பட்டான்.

38. But the Pharisee having seen, marveled that He was not first baptized [or, ceremonially washed] before the meal.

39. கர்த்தர் அவனை நோக்கி: பரிசேயராகிய நீங்கள் போஜனபானபாத்திரங்களின் வெளிப்புறத்தைச் சுத்தமாக்குகிறீர்கள், உங்கள் உள்ளமோ கொள்ளையினாலும் பொல்லாப்பினாலும் நிறைந்திருக்கிறது.

39. Then the Lord said to him, 'Now you*, the Pharisees, make the outside of the cup and of the wooden platter clean, but the inside of you* is full of violent greed and wickedness.

40. மதிகேடரே, வெளிப்புறத்தை உண்டாக்கினவர் உட்புறத்தையும் உண்டாக்கவில்லையோ?

40. Fools! The One having made the outside also made the inside, did He not?

41. உங்களுக்கு உண்டானவைகளில் பிச்சை கொடுங்கள், அப்பொழுது சகலமும் உங்களுக்குச் சுத்தமாயிருக்கும்.

41. Nevertheless, give the [things] being [or, what is] inside [as] charitable gifts. Then listen! All things are clean to you*.

42. பரிசேயரே, உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, நீங்கள் ஒற்தலாம் மருக்கொழுந்து முதலிய சகலவித பூண்டுகளிலும் தசமபாகம் கொடுத்து, நியாயத்தையும் தேவ அன்பையும் விட்டுவிடுகிறீர்கள்; இவைகளையும் செய்யவேண்டும், அவைகளையும் விடாதிருக்கவேண்டுமே.

42. _But_ how horrible it will be to you*, the Pharisees! Because you* tithe [i.e. give a tenth of] the mint and the rue [i.e. a scented herb] and every vegetable, and you* pass by [fig., overlook] the justice and the love of God. These [things] it is necessary to do, and those not to be neglecting.

43. பரிசேயரே, உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, ஜெப ஆலயங்களில் முதன்மையான ஆசனங்களையும், சந்தைகளில் வந்தனங்களையும் விரும்புகிறீர்கள்.

43. How horrible it will be to you*, the Pharisees! Because you* love the first seats [fig., most important places] in the synagogues and the greetings in the marketplaces.

44. மாயக்காரராகிய வேதபாரகரே, பரிசேயரே, உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, மறைந்திருக்கிற பிரேதக்குழிகளைப்போலிருக்கிறீர்கள், அவைகள்மேல் நடக்கிற மனுஷருக்கு அவைகள் தெரியாதிருக்கிறது என்றார்.

44. How horrible it will be to you*, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you* are like the unmarked tombs, and the people walking about above do not know [it].'

45. அப்பொழுது நியாயசாஸ்திரிகளில் ஒருவன் அவரை நோக்கி: போதகரே, நீர் இப்படிச் சொல்லுகிறதினால் எங்களையும் நிந்திக்கிறீரே என்றான்.

45. Then answering, one of the lawyers says to Him, 'Teacher, by saying these [things] You also insult us.'

46. அதற்கு அவர்: நியாயசாஸ்திரிகளே, உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, சுமக்க அரிதான சுமைகளை மனுஷர்மேல் சுமத்துகிறீர்கள்; நீங்களோ உங்கள் விரல்களில் ஒன்றினாலும் அந்தச் சுமைகளைத் தொடவும்மாட்டீர்கள்.

46. But He said, 'How horrible it will be to you* also, the lawyers! Because you* burden the people with hard to carry [fig., difficult] burdens, and you* yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your* fingers.

47. உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் கொலைசெய்த தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுக்குக் கல்லறைகளைக் கட்டுகிறீர்கள்.

47. 'How horrible it will be to you*! Because you* build the tombs of the prophets, but your* fathers killed them.

48. ஆகையால் உங்கள் பிதாக்களுடைய கிரியைகளுக்கு நீங்களும் உடன்பட்டவர்களென்று சாட்சியிடுகிறீர்கள்; எப்படியென்றால், உங்கள் பிதாக்கள் அவர்களைக் கொலைசெய்தார்கள், நீங்களோ அவர்களுக்குக் கல்லறைகளைக் கட்டுகிறீர்கள்.

48. Consequently, you* bear witness to and approve of the works of your* fathers, because_they_ indeed killed them, but you* build their tombs!

49. ஆதலால் தேவஞானமானது: நான் தீர்க்கதரிசிகளையும் அப்போஸ்தலர்களையும் அவர்களிடத்தில் அனுப்புவேன்; அவர்களில் சிலரைக் கொலைசெய்து, சிலரைத் துன்பப்படுத்துவார்கள்;

49. For this reason the wisdom of God also said, I will send to them prophets and apostles, and [some] of them they will kill, and [some] they will persecute,

50. ஆபேலின் இரத்தம்முதல் பலிபீடத்துக்கும் தேவாலயத்துக்கும் நடுவே கொலையுண்ட சகரியாவின் இரத்தம்வரைக்கும், உலகத்தோற்றமுதற்கொண்டு சிந்தப்பட்ட சகல தீர்க்கதரிசிகளுடைய இரத்தப்பழியும் இந்தச் சந்ததியினிடத்தில் கேட்கப்படத்தக்கதாக அப்படிச் செய்வார்கள் என்று சொல்லுகிறது.

50. so that the blood of all the prophets, the [blood] being shed from the laying of the foundation of the world, shall be charged against this generation,

51. நிச்சயமாகவே இந்தச் சந்ததியினிடத்தில் அது கேட்கப்படும் என்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன்.

51. from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zacharias, the one having perished between the altar and the house [of God]. Yes, I say to you*, it will be charged against this generation. [Gen 4:8; 2Chron 36:16]

52. நியாயசாஸ்திரிகளே, உங்களுக்கு ஐயோ, அறிவாகிய திறவுகோலை எடுத்துக்கொண்டீர்கள், நீங்களும் உட்பிரவேசிக்கிறதில்லை, உட்பிரவேசிக்கிறவர்களையும் தடைபண்ணுகிறீர்கள் என்றார்.

52. How horrible it will be to you*, the lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You* yourselves did not enter, and you* hindered the ones entering in.'

53. இவைகளை அவர்களுக்கு அவர் சொல்லுகையில், வேதபாரகரும் பரிசேயரும் அவர்மேல் குற்றஞ்சாட்டும்பொருட்டு, அவர் வாய்மொழியில் ஏதாகிலும் பிழை கண்டுபிடிக்கவேண்டும் என்று உபாயம்பண்ணி அவரை மிகவும் நெருக்கவும்,

53. Now while He [was] speaking these [things] to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly hostile towards [Him] and to be attacking Him with questions concerning many things,

54. அநேக காரியங்களைக்குறித்துப் பேசும்படி அவரை ஏவவும் தொடங்கினார்கள்.

54. laying in wait for Him, seeking to catch something out of His mouth [fig., to catch Him in something He might say], so that they should bring charges against Him.
