1. இஸ்ரவேலை ஆசீர்வதிப்பதே கர்த்தருக்குப் பிரியம் என்று பிலேயாம் கண்டபோது, அவன் முந்திச் செய்து வந்ததுபோல நிமித்தம் பார்க்கப் போகாமல், வனாந்தரத்திற்கு நேராகத் தன் முகத்தைத் திருப்பி,

1. And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.

2. தன் கண்களை ஏறெடுத்து, இஸ்ரவேல் தன் கோத்திரங்களின்படியே பாளயமிறங்கியிருக்கிறதைப் பார்த்தான்; தேவஆவி அவன்மேல் வந்தது.

2. And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

3. அப்பொழுது அவன் தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: பேயோரின் குமாரனாகிய பிலேயாம் சொல்லுகிறதாவது, கண் திறக்கப்பட்டவன் உரைக்கிறதாவது,

3. And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

4. தேவன் அருளும் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, சர்வவல்லவரின் தரிசனத்தைக் கண்டு தாழவிழும்போது, கண்திறக்கப்பட்டவன் விளம்புகிறதாவது,

4. He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

5. யாக்கோபே, உன் கூடாரங்களும், இஸ்ரவேலே, உன் வாசஸ்தலங்களும் எவ்வளவு அழகானவைகள்!

5. How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!

6. அவைகள் பரவிப்போகிற ஆறுகளைப்போலவும், நதியோரத்திலுள்ள தோட்டங்களைப்போலவும், கர்த்தர் நாட்டின சந்தனமரங்களைப்போலவும், தண்ணீர் அருகே உள்ள கேதுரு விருட்சங்களைப்போலவும் இருக்கிறது.

6. As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river's side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.

7. அவர்களுடைய நீர்ச்சால்களிலிருந்து தண்ணீர் பாயும்; அவர்கள் வித்து திரளான தண்ணீர்களில் பரவும்; அவர்களுடைய ராஜா ஆகாகைப் பார்க்கிலும் உயருவான்; அவர்கள் ராஜ்யம் மேன்மையடையும்.

7. He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.

8. தேவன் அவர்களை எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்; காண்டாமிருகத்துக்கொத்த பெலன் அவர்களுக்கு உண்டு; அவர்கள் தங்கள் சத்துருக்களாகிய ஜாதிகளைப் பட்சித்து, அவர்கள் எலும்புகளை நொறுக்கி, அவர்களைத் தங்கள் அம்புகளாலே எய்வார்கள்.

8. God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.

9. சிங்கம்போலவும் துஷ்ட சிங்கம்போலவும் மடங்கிப் படுத்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களை எழுப்புகிறவன் யார்? உங்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கிறவன் ஆசீர்வதிக்கப்பட்டவன், உங்களைச் சபிக்கிறவன் சபிக்கப்பட்டவன் என்றான்.

9. He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.

10. அப்பொழுது பாலாக் பிலேயாமின்மேல் கோபம் மூண்டவனாகி, கையோடே கைதட்டி, பிலேயாமை நோக்கி: என் சத்துருக்களைச் சபிக்க உன்னை அழைத்தனுப்பினேன்; நீயோ இந்த மூன்றுமுறையும் அவர்களை ஆசீர்வதிக்கவே ஆசீர்வதித்தாய்.

10. And Balak's anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.

11. ஆகையால் உன் இடத்துக்கு ஓடிப்போ; உன்னை மிகவும் கனம்பண்ணுவேன் என்றேன்; நீ கனமடையாதபடிக்குக் கர்த்தர் தடுத்தார் என்றான்.

11. Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.

12. அப்பொழுது பிலேயாம் பாலாகை நோக்கி: பாலாக் எனக்குத் தன் வீடு நிறைய வெள்ளியும் பொன்னும் கொடுத்தாலும், நான் என் மனதாய் நன்மையாகிலும் தீமையாகிலும் செய்கிறதற்குக் கர்த்தரின் கட்டளையை மீறக்கூடாது; கர்த்தர் சொல்வதையே சொல்வேன் என்று,

12. And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,

13. நீர் என்னிடத்திற்கு அனுப்பின ஸ்தானாபதிகளிடத்தில் நான் சொல்லவில்லையா?

13. If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?

14. இதோ, நான் என் ஜனத்தாரிடத்திற்குப் போகிறேன்; பிற்காலத்திலே இந்த ஜனங்கள் உம்முடைய ஜனங்களுக்குச் செய்வது இன்னதென்று உமக்குத் தெரிவிப்பேன் வாரும் என்று சொல்லி,

14. And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.

15. அவன் தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: பேயோரின் குமாரன் பிலேயாம் சொல்லுகிறதாவது, கண் திறக்கப்பட்டவன் உரைக்கிறதாவது,

15. And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:

16. தேவன் அருளும் வார்த்தைகளைக் கேட்டு, உன்னதமானவர் அளித்த அறிவை அறிந்து, சர்வவல்லவரின் தரிசனத்தைக் கண்டு, தாழவிழும்போது, கண் திறக்கப்பட்டவன் விளம்புகிறதாவது;

16. He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:

17. அவரைக் காண்பேன், இப்பொழுது அல்ல; அவரைத் தரிசிப்பேன், சமீபமாய் அல்ல; ஒரு நட்சத்திரம் யாக்கோபிலிருந்து உதிக்கும், ஒரு செங்கோல் இஸ்ரவேலிலிருந்து எழும்பும்; அது மோவாபின் எல்லைகளை நொறுக்கி, சேத்புத்திரர் எல்லாரையும் நிர்மூலமாக்கும்.

17. I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

18. ஏதோம் சுதந்தரமாகும், சேயீர் தன் சத்துருக்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகும்; இஸ்ரவேல் பராக்கிரமஞ்செய்யும்.

18. And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.

19. யாக்கோபிலிருந்து தோன்றும் ஒருவர் ஆளுகை செய்வார்; பட்டணங்களில் மீதியானவர்களை அழிப்பார் என்றான்.

19. Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.

20. மேலும், அவன் அமலேக்கைப் பார்த்து, தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: அமலேக்கு முந்தியெழும்பினவன்; ஆனாலும் அவன் முடிவில் முற்றிலும் நாசமாவான் என்றான்.

20. And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.

21. அன்றியும் அவன் கேனியனைப் பார்த்து, தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: உன் வாசஸ்தலம் அரணிப்பானது; உன் கூட்டைக் கன்மலையில் கட்டினாய்.

21. And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.

22. ஆகிலும் கேனியன் அழிந்துபோவான்; அசூர் உன்னைச் சிறைபிடித்துக்கொண்டுபோக எத்தனை நாள் செல்லும் என்றான்.

22. Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.

23. பின்னும் அவன் தன் வாக்கியத்தை எடுத்துரைத்து: ஐயோ, தேவன் இதைச்செய்யும்போது யார் பிழைப்பான்;

23. And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!

24. சித்தீமின் கரைதுறையிலிருந்து கப்பல்கள் வந்து, அசூரைச் சிறுமைப்படுத்தி, ஏபேரையும் வருத்தப்படுத்தும்; அவனும் முற்றிலும் அழிந்துபோவான் என்றான்.

24. And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.

25. பின்பு பிலேயாம் எழுந்து புறப்பட்டு, தன் இடத்திற்குத் திரும்பினான்; பாலாகும் தன் வழியே போனான்.

25. And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.
