1. லிவியாதானை தூண்டிலினால் பிடிக்கக்கூடுமோ? அதின் நாக்கை நீ விடுகிற கயிற்றினாலே பிடிக்கக்கூடுமோ?

1. CAN YOU draw out the leviathan (the crocodile) with a fishhook? Or press down his tongue with a cord?

2. அதின் மூக்கை நார்க்கயிறு போட்டுக் கட்டக்கூடுமோ? குறட்டினால் அதின் தாடையை உருவக் குத்தக்கூடுமோ?

2. Can you put a rope into his nose? Or pierce his jaw through with a hook or a spike?

3. அது உன்னைப் பார்த்து அநேக விண்ணப்பஞ்செய்யுமோ? உன்னை நோக்கி இச்சகவார்த்தைகளைச் சொல்லுமோ?

3. Will he make many supplications to you [begging to be spared]? Will he speak soft words to you [to coax you to treat him kindly]?

4. அது உன்னோடே உடன்படிக்கைபண்ணுமோ? அதைச் சதாகாலமும் அடிமைகொள்வாயோ?

4. Will he make a covenant with you to take him for your servant forever?

5. ஒரு குருவியோடே விளையாடுகிறதுபோல், நீ அதனோடே விளையாடி, அதை நீ உன் பெண்மக்களண்டையிலே கட்டிவைப்பாயோ?

5. Will you play with [the crocodile] as with a bird? Or will you put him on a leash for your maidens?

6. கூட்டாளிகள் அதைப் பிடிக்கப் பிரயத்தனப்பட்டு, அதை வியாபாரிகளுக்குப் பங்கிடுவார்களோ?

6. Will traders bargain over him? Will they divide him up among the merchants?

7. நீ அதின் தோலை அநேக அம்புகளினாலும், அதின் தலையை எறிவல்லையங்களினாலும் எறிவாயோ?

7. Can you fill his skin with harpoons? Or his head with fishing spears?

8. அதின்மேல் உன் கையைப்போடு, யுத்தத்தை நினைத்துக்கொள்; இனி அப்படிச் செய்யத் துணியமாட்டாய்.

8. Lay your hand upon him! Remember your battle with him; you will not do [such an ill-advised thing] again!

9. இதோ, அதைப் பிடிக்கலாம் என்று நம்பினவன் மோசம்போய், அதைப் பார்த்தவுடனே விழுவான் அல்லவோ?

9. Behold, the hope of [his assailant] is disappointed; one is cast down even at the sight of him!

10. அதை எழுப்பத்தக்க தைரியவான் இல்லாதிருக்க, எனக்கு முன்பாக நிற்பவன் யார்?

10. No one is so fierce [and foolhardy] that he dares to stir up [the crocodile]; who then is he who can stand before Me [the beast's Creator, or dares to contend with Me]?

11. தனக்குப் பதில்கொடுக்கப்படும்படி, முந்தி எனக்குக் கொடுத்தவன் யார்? வானத்தின் கீழுள்ளவைகள் எல்லாம் என்னுடையவைகள்.

11. Who has first given to Me, that I should repay him? Whatever is under the whole heavens is Mine. [Therefore, who can have a claim against God, God Who made the unmastered crocodile?] [Rom. 11:35.]

12. அதின் அங்கங்களும், அதின் வீரியமும், அதின் உடல் இசைவின் நேர்த்தியும் இன்னதென்று நான் சொல்லாமல் மறைக்கமாட்டேன்.

12. I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, nor his mighty strength, nor his goodly frame.

13. அது மூடியிருக்கிற அதின் போர்வையைக் கிளப்பக்கூடியவன் யார்? அதின் இரண்டு தாடைகளின் நடுவே கடிவாளம் போடத்தக்கவன் யார்?

13. Who can strip off [the crocodile's] outer garment? [Who can penetrate his double coat of mail?] Who shall come within his jaws?

14. அதின் முகத்தின் கதவைத் திறக்கக்கூடியவன் யார்? சுற்றிலுமிருக்கிற அதின் பற்கள் பயங்கரமானவைகள்.

14. Who can open the doors of his [lipless] mouth? His [extended jaws and bare] teeth are terrible round about.

15. முத்திரைப் பதிப்புப்போல அழுத்தங்கொண்டு அடர்த்தியாயிருக்கிற அதின் பரிசைகளின் அரணிப்பு மகா சிறப்பாயிருக்கிறது.

15. His scales are [the crocodile's] pride, [for his back is made of rows of shields] shut up together [as with] a tight seal;

16. அவைகள் நடுவே காற்றும் புகமாட்டாத நெருக்கமாய் அவைகள் ஒன்றோடொன்று இணைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது.

16. One is so near to another that no air can come between them.

17. அவைகள் ஒன்றோடொன்று ஒட்டிக்கொண்டு இணைபிரியாமல் பிடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கிறது.

17. They are joined one to another; they stick together so that they cannot be separated.

18. அது தும்முகையில் ஒளி, வீசும், அதின் கண்கள் அருணோதயத்தின் புருவங்களைப்போல் இருக்கிறது.

18. His sneezings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the [reddish] eyelids of the dawn.

19. அதின் வாயிலிருந்து எரிகிற பந்தங்கள் புறப்பட்டு, அக்கினிப்பொறிகள் பறக்கும்.

19. Out of his mouth go burning torches, [and] sparks of fire leap out.

20. கொதிக்கிற சட்டியிலும் கொப்பரையிலும் இருந்து புறப்படுகிறதுபோல, அதின் நாசிகளிலிருந்து புகை புறப்படும்.

20. Out of his nostrils goes forth smoke, as out of a seething pot over a fire of rushes.

21. அதின் சுவாசம் கரிகளைக்கொளுத்தும், அதின் வாயிலிருந்து ஜூவாலை புறப்படும்.

21. His breath kindles coals, and a flame goes forth from his mouth.

22. அதின் கழுத்திலே பெலன் குடிகொண்டிருக்கும்; பயங்கரம் அதற்குமுன் கூத்தாடும்.

22. In [the crocodile's] neck abides strength, and terror dances before him.

23. அதின் உடற்கூறுகள், அசையாத கெட்டியாய் ஒன்றொடொன்று ஒட்டிக்கொண்டிருக்கும்.

23. The folds of his flesh cleave together; they are firm upon him, and they cannot shake [when he moves].

24. அதின் நெஞ்சு கல்லைப்போலவும், ஏந்திரத்தின் அடிக்கல்லைப்போலவும் கெட்டியாயிருக்கும்.

24. His heart is as firm as a stone, indeed, as solid as a nether millstone.

25. அது எழும்பும்போது பலசாலிகள் அஞ்சி பயத்தினால் மயங்கித் திகைப்பார்கள்.

25. When [the crocodile] raises himself up, the mighty are afraid; because of terror and the crashing they are beside themselves.

26. அதைத் தாக்குகிறவனுடைய பட்டயம், ஈட்டி, வல்லையம், கவசம், ஒன்றும் அதற்குமுன் நிற்காது.

26. Even if one strikes at him with the sword, it cannot get any hold, nor does the spear, the dart, or the javelin.

27. அது இரும்பை வைக்கோலாகவும், வெண்கலத்தை உளுத்த மரமாகவும் எண்ணும்.

27. He counts iron as straw and bronze as rotten wood.

28. அம்பு அதைத் துரத்தாது; கவண்கற்கள் அதற்குத் துரும்பாகும்.

28. The arrow cannot make [the crocodile] flee; slingstones are treated by him as stubble.

29. அது பெருந்தடிகளைத் தாளடிகளாக எண்ணி, ஈட்டியின் அசைவை இகழும்.

29. Clubs [also] are counted as stubble; he laughs at the rushing and the rattling of the javelin.

30. அதின் கீழாகக் கூர்மையான கற்கள் கிடந்தாலும், அது சேற்றின்மேல் ஓடுகிறதுபோலக் கருக்கான அவைகளின்மேலும் ஓடும்.

30. His underparts are like sharp pieces of broken pottery; he spreads [grooves like] a threshing sledge upon the mire.

31. அது ஆழத்தை உலைப்பானையைப்போல் பொங்கப்பண்ணி, கடலைத் தைலம்போலக் கலக்கிவிடும்.

31. He makes the deep boil like a pot; he makes the sea like a [foaming] pot of ointment.

32. அது தனக்குப் பின்னாகப் பாதையைத் துலங்கப்பண்ணும்; ஆழமானது வெளுப்பான நரையைப்போல் விளங்கும்.

32. [His swift darting] makes a shining track behind him; one would think the deep to be hoary [with foam].

33. பூமியின்மேல் அதற்கு ஒப்பானது ஒன்றுமில்லை; அது நிர்ப்பயமாயிருக்க உண்டுபண்ணப்பட்டது.

33. Upon earth there is not [the crocodile's] equal, a creature made without fear and he behaves fearlessly.

34. அது மேட்டிமையானதையெல்லாம் அற்பமாய் எண்ணுகிறது; அது அகங்காரமுள்ள ஜீவன்களுக்கெல்லாம் ராஜாவாயிருக்கிறது என்றார்.

34. He looks all mighty [beasts of prey] in the face [without terror]; he is monarch over all the sons of pride. [And now, Job, who are you who dares not arouse the unmastered crocodile, yet who dares resist Me, the beast's Creator, to My face? Everything under the heavens is Mine; therefore, who can have a claim against God?]
