1. யோவாஸ் ராஜாவாகிறபோது ஏழு வயதாயிருந்து, நாற்பது வருஷம் எருசலேமில் அரசாண்டான்; பெயெர்செபா பட்டணத்தாளான அவன் தாயின் பேர் சிபியாள்.

1. Ioas was seuen yeare olde whan he was made kynge, and reigned fortie yeare at Ierusale. His mothers name was Zibea of Berseba.

2. ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவின் நாளெல்லாம் யோவாஸ் கர்த்தரின் பார்வைக்குச் செம்மையானதைச் செய்தான்.

2. And Ioas dyd that which was right in the sight of the LORDE, as longe as Ioiada the prest lyued.

3. அவனுக்கு யோய்தா இரண்டு ஸ்திரீகளை விவாகஞ்செய்து கொடுத்தான்; அவர்களால் குமாரரையும் குமாரத்திகளையும் பெற்றான்.

3. And Ioiada gaue him two wiues, & he begat sonnes & doughters.

4. அதற்குப்பின்பு கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் புதுப்பிக்க யோவாஸ் விருப்பங்கொண்டான்.

4. Afterwarde deuysed Ioas to renue the house of the LORDE,

5. அவன் ஆசாரியரையும் லேவியரையும் கூடிவரச்செய்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் யூதா பட்டணங்களுக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போய், உங்கள் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை வருஷாவருஷம் பழுதுபார்க்கிறதற்கு, இஸ்ரவேலெங்கும் பணம் சேகரியுங்கள்; இந்தக் காரியத்தைத் தாமதமில்லாமல் செய்யுங்கள் என்றான்; ஆனாலும் லேவியர் தாமதம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

5. & gathered together the prestes and Leuites, & sayde vnto the: Go forth vnto all the cities of Iuda, & gather the money of all Israel, to repayre ye house of God yearly, and do it righte soone: but the Leuites made no haist.

6. அப்பொழுது ராஜா யோய்தா என்னும் தலைவனை அழைப்பித்து: சாட்சியின் வாசஸ்தலத்துக்குக் கொடுக்க, கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே கட்டளையிட்ட வரியை யூதாவினிடத்திலும், எருசலேமியரிடத்திலும், இஸ்ரவேல் சபையாரிடத்திலும் வாங்கி வருகிறதற்கு, லேவியரை நீர் விசாரியாமற்போனதென்ன?

6. Then the kynge called Ioiada the pryncipall, and sayde vnto him: Why lokest thou not vnto the Leuites, yt they bringe in from Iuda and Ierusalem, the colleccion which Moses the seruaunt of the LORDE appoynted to be gathered amoge Israel for the Tabernacle of witnes?

7. அந்தப் பொல்லாத ஸ்திரீயாகிய அத்தாலியாளுடைய மக்கள் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பலவந்தமாய்த் திறந்து, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலுள்ள பிரதிஷ்டை பண்ணப்பட்டவைகளையெல்லாம் பாகால்களுக்காகச் செலவு பண்ணிப்போட்டார்களே என்றான்.

7. For yt vngodly Athalia & hir sonnes haue waisted the house of God: and all that was halowed for the house of the LORDE, haue they bestowed on Baalim.

8. அப்பொழுது ராஜாவின் சொற்படி ஒரு பெட்டியை உண்டாக்கி, அதைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்து வாசலுக்குப் புறம்பே வைத்து,

8. Then commaunded the kynge to make a chest, and to set it without at the intraunce of the house of the LORDE:

9. கர்த்தரின் தாசனாகிய மோசே வனாந்தரத்தில் இஸ்ரவேலுக்குக் கட்டளையிட்ட வரியைக் கர்த்தருக்குக் கொண்டுவாருங்கள் என்று யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் பறைசாற்றுவித்தார்கள்.

9. & caused it to be proclamed in Iuda and Ierusale, that they shulde bringe in to the LORDE, the colleccio, which Moses the seruaut of God appointed vnto Israel in ye wildernes.

10. அப்பொழுது எல்லாப் பிரபுக்களும் எல்லா ஜனங்களும் சந்தோஷமாய்க் கொண்டு வந்து பெட்டி நிறைய அதிலே போட்டார்கள்.

10. The were all ye rulers glad, & so were all ye people, & brought it, and cast it in to the chest, tyll it was full.

11. வெகுபணம் உண்டென்று கண்டு, லேவியர் கையால் அந்தப் பெட்டி ராஜாவின் விசாரிப்புக்காரர் அண்டையிலே கொண்டுவரப்படும்போது, ராஜாவின் சம்பிரதியும் பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய விசாரிப்புக்காரனும் வந்து, பெட்டியிலிருக்கிறதைக் கொட்டியெடுத்து, அதைத் திரும்ப அதின் ஸ்தானத்திலே வைப்பார்கள்; இப்படி நாளுக்கு நாள் செய்து மிகுந்த பணத்தைச் சேர்த்தார்கள்.

11. And whan the tyme was yt the Leuites shulde brynge the Arke at ye kinges comaundement (whan they sawe yt there was moch money therin) then came the kinges scrybe, & he yt was appoynted of the chefe prest, and emptyed the chest, and caried it againe in to his place. Thus dyd they euery daye, so that they gathered moch money together.

12. அதை ராஜாவும் யோய்தாவும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தின் வேலையை விசாரிக்கும் ஊழியக்காரர் கையிலே கொடுத்தார்கள்; அதினால் அவர்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் புதுப்பிக்கும்படி கல்தச்சரையும், தச்சரையும், கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தைப் பழுதுபார்க்கும்படி கொற்றரையும் கன்னாரையும் கூலிக்கு அமர்த்திக்கொண்டார்கள்.

12. And ye kinge & Ioiada gaue it vnto ye workmasters of ye house of the LORDE, and they hired masons & carpenters to repayre the house of ye LORDE, and men that coulde worke in yron and brasse, to repayre the house of ye LORDE.

13. அப்படி வேலையை விசாரிக்கிறவர்கள் தங்கள் கையினாலே வேலையை நடந்தேறப்பண்ணி, தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை அதின் முந்தின சீருக்குக் கொண்டுவந்து அதைப் பலப்படுத்தினார்கள்.

13. And the labourers wrought, so that ye repairinge in ye worke wente forwarde thorow their hande, and they set the house of God in his bewtye, and made it stronge.

14. அதை முடித்துத் தீர்ந்தபின்பு, மீந்த பணத்தை ராஜாவுக்கும் யோய்தாவுக்கும் முன்பாகக் கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; அதினாலே கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தில் செய்யப்படும் பணிமுட்டுகளையும், ஆராதனை பலி முதலியவைகளுக்கு வேண்டிய பணிமுட்டுகளையும், கலசங்களையும், பொற்பாத்திரங்களையும், வெள்ளிப்பாத்திரங்களையும் பண்ணுவித்தான்; யோய்தாவின் நாளெல்லாம் நித்தம் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளைச் செலுத்திவந்தார்கள்.

14. And whan they had perfourmed this, they brought the resydue of the money before the kynge and Ioiada, wherof there were made vessels for the house of the LORDE, vessels for the ministracion and burntofferinge, spones and ornamentes of golde and siluer. And they offred burntofferynges allwaye in the house of the LORDE, as longe as Ioiada lyued.

15. யோய்தா தீர்க்காயுசுள்ளவனாய் முதிர்வயதில் மரித்தான்; அவன் மரணமடைகிறபோது நூற்றுமுப்பது வயதாயிருந்தான்.

15. And Ioiada waxed olde, and had lyued longe ynough, and dyed, & was an hundreth and thirtie yeare olde whan he dyed:

16. அவன் தேவனுக்காகவும் அவருடைய ஆலயத்திற்காகவும் இஸ்ரவேலுக்கு நன்மை செய்தபடியினால், அவனைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் ராஜாக்களண்டையிலே அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்.

16. and they buried him in the cite of Dauid, amonge the kynges, because he had done good vnto Israel, and towarde God & his house.

17. யோய்தா மரணமடைந்தபின்பு யூதாவின் பிரபுக்கள் வந்து, ராஜாவைப் பணிந்துகொண்டார்கள்; அப்பொழுது ராஜா அவர்களுக்குச் செவிகொடுத்தான்.

17. And after the death of Ioiada, came the rulers in Iuda, and worshipped the kynge. Then consented the kynge vnto the.

18. அப்படியே அவர்கள் தங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்தை விட்டுவிட்டு, தோப்பு விக்கிரகங்களையும் சிலைகளையும் சேவித்தார்கள்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் செய்த இந்தக் குற்றத்தினிமித்தம் யூதாவின்மேலும் எருசலேமின்மேலும் கடுங்கோபம் மூண்டது.

18. And they forsoke the house of the LORDE God of their fathers, and serued ye groues and ymages. Then came ye wrath of the LORDE vpo Iuda and Ierusalem because of this trespace of theirs.

19. அவர்களைத் தம்மிடத்திற்குத் திரும்பப்பண்ணக் கர்த்தர் அவர்களிடத்திலே தீர்க்கதரிசிகளை அனுப்பினார்; அவர்கள் ஜனங்களைத் திடச்சாட்சியாகக் கடிந்து கொண்டார்கள்; ஆனாலும் அவர்கள் செவிகொடுக்கவில்லை.

19. Yet sent he prophetes vnto the, yt they shulde turne vnto the LORDE, & they testified vnto the: but they wolde not heare.

20. அப்பொழுது தேவனுடைய ஆவி ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவின் குமாரனான சகரியாவின்மேல் இறங்கினதினால், அவன் ஜனத்திற்கு எதிரே நின்று: நீங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய கற்பனைகளை மீறுகிறது என்ன? இதினால் நீங்கள் சித்திபெறமாட்டீர்கள் என்று தேவன் சொல்லுகிறார்; நீங்கள் கர்த்தரை விட்டுவிட்டதினால் அவர் உங்களைக் கைவிடுவார் என்றான்.

20. And the sprete of God came vpon Zachary the sonne of Ioiada the prest, which stode ouer ye people, & sayde vnto the: Thus sayeth God: Wherfore do ye transgresse the comaundementes of the LORDE, which shall not be to yor prosperite: for ye haue forsaken ye LORDE, therfore shal he forsake you.

21. அதினால் அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணி, கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயப்பிராகாரத்தில் ராஜாவினுடைய கற்பனையின்படி அவனைக் கல்லெறிந்து கொன்றார்கள்.

21. Neuertheles they conspyred agaynst him, & stoned him at ye kynges comaundement in ye courte of the house of the LORDE.

22. அப்படியே அவனுடைய தகப்பனாகிய யோய்தா தனக்குச் செய்த தயையை ராஜாவாகிய யோவாஸ் நினையாமல் அவனுடைய குமாரனைக் கொன்று போட்டான்; இவன் சாகும்போது: கர்த்தர் அதைப் பார்ப்பார், அதைக் கேட்பார் என்றான்.

22. And Ioas ye kinge thought not on the mercy yt Ioiada his father had done for him, but slewe his sonne. Notwithstondinge wha he dyed, he sayde: The LORDE shal loke vpon it, and requyre it.

23. மறுவருஷத்திலே சீரியாவின் சேனைகள் அவனுக்கு விரோதமாக யூதாவிலும் எருசலேமிலும் வந்து, ஜனத்திலிருக்கிற பிரபுக்களையெல்லாம் அழித்து, கொள்ளையிட்ட அவர்கள் உடைமைகளையெல்லாம் தமஸ்குவின் ராஜாவுக்கு அனுப்பினார்கள்.

23. And whan the yeare was gone aboute, ye power of the Syrians wente vp, & came to Iuda & Ierusalem, and destroyed the rulers in the people, and sent all the spoiles of them vnto Damascon.

24. சீரியாவின் சேனை சிறுகூட்டமாய் வந்திருந்தாலும், அவர்கள் தங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரை விட்டுவிட்டபடியினால், கர்த்தர் மகா பெரிய சேனையை அவர்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்; அவர்கள் யோவாசுக்கு தண்டனை செய்தார்கள்.

24. For the power of the Syrians came but with a fewe men, yet gaue ye LORDE a very greate power in to their hande: because they had forsaken ye LORDE God of their fathers. They executed iudgment also vpon Ioas.

25. அவர்கள் அவனை மகா வேதனைக்குள்ளானவனாக விட்டுப்போனார்கள்; அவர்கள் புறப்பட்டுப்போனபின்பு, அவனுடைய ஊழியக்காரர் ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தாவுடைய குமாரரின் இரத்தப்பழியினிமித்தம், அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்க் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணி, அவன் படுக்கையிலே அவனைக் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்; செத்துப்போன அவனைத் தாவீதின் நகரத்தில் அடக்கம்பண்ணினார்கள்; ஆனாலும் ராஜாக்களின் கல்லறைகளில் அவனை வைக்கவில்லை.

25. And whan they departed fro him, they lefte him in greate sicknesses. Neuertheles his seruauntes conspyred against him (because of the bloude of the childre of Ioiada the prest) & slewe him vpo his bed, & he dyed, and they buryed him in the cite of Dauid, but not amonge the sepulcres of the kynges.

26. அவனுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கட்டுப்பாடுபண்ணினவர்கள், அம்மோனிய ஸ்திரீயான சீமாத்தின் குமாரனாகிய சாபாத்தும், மோவாப் ஸ்திரீயான சிம்ரீத்தின் குமாரனாகிய யோசபாத்துமே.

26. They that conspyred against him, were these: Sabad ye sonne of Simeath the Ammonitisse, and Iosabad the sonne of Simrith the Moabitisse.

27. அவன் குமாரரைப்பற்றியும், அவன்மேல் சுமந்த பெரிய பாரத்தைப்பற்றியும், தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை அவன் பலப்படுத்தினதைப்பற்றியும் ராஜாக்களின் புஸ்தகமான சரித்திரத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது; அவன் குமாரனாகிய அமத்சியா அவன் ஸ்தானத்தில் ராஜாவானான்.

27. As for his sonnes, and the summe that was gathered vnder him, and the buyldinge of the house of God beholde, they are wrytten in the storye in the boke of the kynges. And Amasias his sonne was kynge in his steade.
