1. ஏழாம் வருஷத்திலே யோய்தா திடன்கொண்டு, நூறுபேருக்கு அதிபதிகளாகிய எரோகாமின் குமாரன் அசரியாவையும், யோகனானின் குமாரன் இஸ்மவேலையும், ஓபேதின் குமாரன் அசரியாவையும், ஆதாயாவின் குமாரன் மாசெயாவையும், சிக்ரியின் குமாரன் எலிஷாபாத்தையும் தன் உடன்படிக்கைக்கு உட்படுத்தினான்.

1. In the seventh year, Jehoiada made himself strong, and made an agreement with the captains of hundreds, Azariah, the son of Jeroham, Ishmael, the son of Jehohanan, Azariah, the son of Obed, Maaseiah, the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat, the son of Zichri.

2. அவர்கள் யூதாவிலே சுற்றித்திரிந்து, யூதாவின் பட்டணங்களிலெல்லாம் இருக்கிற லேவியரையும், இஸ்ரவேலுடைய பிதாக்களின் வம்சத்தலைவரையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு எருசலேமுக்கு வந்தார்கள்.

2. And they went through Judah, getting together the Levites and the heads of families in Israel from all the towns of Judah, and they came to Jerusalem.

3. அந்தச் சபையார் எல்லாரும் தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தில் ராஜாவோடே உடன்படிக்கை செய்தார்கள்; யோய்தா அவர்களை நோக்கி: இதோ, கர்த்தர் தாவீதின் குமாரரைக்குறித்துச் சொன்னபடியே ராஜாவின் குமாரன் ராஜாவாக வேண்டும்.

3. And all the people made an agreement with the king in the house of God. And he said to them, Truly, the king's son will be king, as the Lord has said about the sons of David.

4. நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டிய காரியம் என்னவென்றால், இவ்வாரத்தில், முறைப்படி வருகிற ஆசாரியரும் லேவியருமான உங்களில் மூன்றில் ஒருபங்கு ஒலிமுகவாசல்களையும்,

4. This is what you are to do: let a third of you, of the priests and Levites, who come in on the Sabbath, keep the doors;

5. மூன்றில் ஒரு பங்கு ராஜாவின் அரமனையையும், மூன்றில் ஒருபங்கு அஸ்திபார வாசலையும் காக்கவும், ஜனங்களெல்லாம் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயப் பிராகாரங்களில் இருக்கவும் வேண்டும்.

5. And a third are to be stationed at the king's house; and a third at the doorway of the horses: while all the people are waiting in the open spaces round the house of the Lord.

6. ஆசாரியரும் லேவியரில் ஊழியம் செய்கிறவர்களும் தவிர, ஒருவரும் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்குள் பிரவேசிக்கவேண்டாம்; அவர்களே உட்பிரவேசிப்பார்களாக; அவர்கள் பரிசுத்தமாக்கப்பட்டவர்கள்; ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் கர்த்தருடைய காவலைக் காப்பார்களாக.

6. But let no one come into the house of the Lord but only the priests and those of the Levites who have work to do there; they may go in for they are holy; but the rest of the people are to keep the orders of the Lord.

7. லேவியர் அவரவர் தங்கள் ஆயுதங்களைத் தங்கள் கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டவர்களாய், ராஜாவைச் சுற்றிலும் வரிசையாய் நின்றுகொண்டிருக்கவேண்டும்; ஆலயத்துக்குட்படுகிற எவனும் கொலைசெய்யப்படக்கடவன்; ராஜா உட்பிரவேசிக்கிறபோதும் வெளியே புறப்படுகிறபோதும் நீங்கள் அவரோடே இருங்கள் என்றான்.

7. And the Levites are to make a circle round the king, every man being armed; and any man who comes into the house is to be put to death; you are to keep with the king when he comes in and when he goes out.

8. ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா கட்டளையிட்டபடியெல்லாம் லேவியரும் யூதா கோத்திரத்தார் அனைவரும் செய்து, அவரவர் அவ்வாரத்து முறைப்படி வருகிறவர்களும், முறை தீர்ந்து போகிறவர்களுமான தம்தம் மனுஷரைக் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு போனார்கள்; வகுப்புகள் பிரிந்துபோக ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா உத்தரவு கொடுக்கவில்லை.

8. So the Levites and all Judah did as Jehoiada the priest had given them orders: every one took with him his men, those who were to come in and those who were to go out on the Sabbath; for Jehoiada had not sent away the divisions.

9. தாவீது ராஜா தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தில் வைத்திருந்த ஈட்டிகளையும் கேடகங்களையும் பரிசைகளையும் ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா நூறுபேருக்கு அதிபதியினிடத்தில் கொடுத்து,

9. Then Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and body-covers which had been King David's and which were kept in the house of God.

10. அவரவர் தங்கள் ஆயுதங்களைக் கையிலே பிடித்துக்கொண்டவர்களாய் ஆலயத்தின் வலது பக்கந்தொடங்கி, ஆலயத்தின் இடதுபக்கமட்டும், பலிபீடத்திற்கும் ஆலயத்திற்கும் எதிரே ராஜாவைச் சுற்றிலும் நிற்க ஜனங்களையெல்லாம் நிறுத்தினான்.

10. And he put all the people in position, every man with his instruments of war in his hand, from the right side of the house to the left, by the altar and the house and all round the king.

11. பின்பு ராஜகுமாரனை வெளியே கொண்டுவந்து, கிரீடத்தை அவன்மேல் வைத்து, சாட்சியின் ஆகமத்தை அவன் கையிலே கொடுத்து, அவனை ராஜாவாக்கினார்கள்; யோய்தாவும் அவன் குமாரரும் அவனை அபிஷேகம்பண்ணி, ராஜா வாழ்க என்றார்கள்.

11. Then they made the king's son come out, and they put the crown on his head and gave him the arm-bands and made him king: and Jehoiada and his sons put the holy oil on him and said, Long life to the king.

12. ஜனங்கள் ஓடிவந்து, ராஜாவைப் புகழுகிற சத்தத்தை அத்தாலியாள் கேட்டபோது, அவள் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்கு ஜனங்களிடத்தில் வந்து,

12. Now Athaliah, hearing the noise of the people running and praising the king, came to the people in the house of the Lord:

13. இதோ, நடையிலுள்ள தன்னுடைய தூணண்டையிலே ராஜா நிற்கிறதையும், ராஜாவண்டையில் நிற்கிற பிரபுக்களையும், எக்காளம் ஊதுகிறவர்களையும், தேசத்து ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் சந்தோஷப்பட்டு எக்காளங்கள் ஊதுகிறதையும், கீதவாத்தியங்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு பாடகரும் சங்கீதத்தலைவரும் துதிக்கிறதையும் கண்டாள்; அப்பொழுது அத்தாலியாள் தன் வஸ்திரங்களைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: துரோகம் துரோகம் என்று கூவினாள்.

13. And looking, she saw the king in his place by the pillar at the doorway, and the captains and the horns by his side; and all the people of the land were giving signs of joy and sounding the horns; and the makers of melody were playing on instruments of music, taking the chief part in the song of praise. Then Athaliah, violently parting her robes, said, Broken faith, broken faith!

14. ஆசாரியனாகிய யோய்தா இராணுவத்தலைவராகிய நூறுபேருக்கு அதிபதிகளானவர்களை வெளியே அழைத்து, அவர்களை நோக்கி: இவளை வரிசைக்குப்புறம்பே கொண்டுபோங்கள்; இவளைப் பின்பற்றுகிறவனைப் பட்டயத்தால் வெட்டிப்போடுங்கள் என்றான். கர்த்தரின் ஆலயத்திலே அவளைக் கொன்றுபோடாதேயுங்கள் என்று ஆசாரியன் சொல்லியிருந்தான்.

14. Then Jehoiada the priest gave orders to the captains of hundreds who had authority over the army, saying, Take her outside the lines, and let anyone who goes after her be put to death with the sword. For the priest said, Let her not be put to death in the house of the Lord.

15. அவர்கள் அவளுக்கு இடமுண்டாக்கினபோது, அவள் ராஜாவின் அரமனையிலிருக்கிற குதிரைகளின் வாசலுக்குள் பிரவேசிக்கும் இடமட்டும் போனாள்; அங்கே அவளைக் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

15. So they put their hands on her, and she went to the king's house by the doorway of the king's horses; and there she was put to death.

16. அப்பொழுது யோய்தா தாங்கள் கர்த்தருடைய ஜனமாயிருக்கும்படிக்கு, தானும் சகல ஜனங்களும் ராஜாவும் உடன்படிக்கை பண்ணிக்கொள்ளும்படி செய்தான்.

16. And Jehoiada made an agreement between the Lord and all the people and the king, that they would be the Lord's people.

17. அப்பொழுது ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் பாகாலின் கோவிலுக்குப் போய், அதை இடித்து, அதின் பலிபீடங்களையும், அதின் விக்கிரகங்களையும் தகர்த்து, பாகாலின் பூசாசாரியாகிய மாத்தானைப் பலிபீடங்களுக்கு முன்பாகக் கொன்றுபோட்டார்கள்.

17. Then all the people went to the house of Baal and had it pulled down, and its altars and images broken up; and Mattan, the priest of Baal, they put to death before the altars.

18. தாவீது கட்டளையிட்டபிரகாரம் சந்தோஷத்தோடும் சங்கீதத்தோடும் கர்த்தரின் சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளை மோசேயின் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியே செலுத்தத்தக்கதாக. யோய்தா கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்தை விசாரிக்கும் உத்தியோகங்களைத் தாவீது கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்துக்கென்று பகுத்து வைத்த லேவியரான ஆசாரியர்களின் கையில் ஒப்புவித்து,

18. And Jehoiada put the work and the care of the house of the Lord into the hands of the priests and the Levites, who had been grouped in divisions by David to make burned offerings to the Lord, as it is recorded in the law of Moses, with joy and song as David had said.

19. யாதொரு காரியத்தினால் தீட்டுப்பட்டவன் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திற்குள் பிரவேசியாதபடிக்கு, அதின் வாசல்களுக்குக் காவலாளரை நிறுத்தினான்.

19. And he put door-keepers at the doors of the Lord's house, to see that no one who was unclean in any way might come in.

20. நூறுபேருக்கு அதிபதிகளையும், பெரியவர்களையும், ஜனத்தை ஆளுகிறவர்களையும், தேசத்து சமஸ்த ஜனங்களையும் கூட்டிக்கொண்டு, ராஜாவைக் கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலிருந்து இறங்கப்பண்ணி, உயர்ந்த வாசல்வழியாய் ராஜ அரமனைக்குள் அழைத்து வந்து அரசாளும் சிங்காசனத்தின்மேல் ராஜாவை உட்காரப்பண்ணினார்கள்.

20. Then he took the captains of hundreds and the chiefs and the rulers of the people and all the people of the land, and they came down with the king from the house of the Lord through the higher doorway into the king's house, and put the king on the seat of the kingdom.

21. தேசத்து ஜனங்களெல்லாரும் மகிழ்ந்தார்கள்; அத்தாலியாளைப் பட்டயத்தால் கொன்றபின்பு நகரம் அமரிக்கையாயிற்று.

21. So all the people of the land were glad and the town was quiet, for they had put Athaliah to death with the sword.
