1. ராஜாவாகிய யெரொபெயாமின் பதினெட்டாம் வருஷத்தில் அபியா யூதாவின்மேல் ராஜாவாகி,

1. In the eighteenth year of [Israel's] King Jeroboam, Abijah became king over Judah;

2. மூன்று வருஷம் எருசலேமில் ராஜ்யபாரம்பண்ணினான்; கிபியா ஊரானாகிய ஊரியேலின் குமாரத்தியாகிய அவனுடைய தாயின் பேர் மிகாயாள்; அபியாவுக்கும் யெரொபெயாமுக்கும் யுத்தம் நடந்தது.

2. he reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Micaiah daughter of Uriel; [she was] from Gibeah. There was war between Abijah and Jeroboam.

3. அபியா தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட நாலுலட்சம்பேராகிய பராக்கிரம சேவகரின் இராணுவத்தாரை யுத்தத்திற்கு ஆயத்தம்பண்ணினான்; யெரொபெயாம் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட எட்டுலட்சம்பேராகிய பலத்த பராக்கிரமசாலிகளை அவனுக்கு எதிராக யுத்தத்திற்கு நிறுத்தினான்.

3. Abijah set his army of warriors in order with 400,000 choice men. Jeroboam arranged his mighty army of 800,000 choice men in battle formation against him.

4. அப்பொழுது அபியா எப்பிராயீம் மலைத்தேசத்திலுள்ள செமராயீம் என்னும் மலையின்மேல் ஏறி நின்று: யெரொபெயாமே, எல்லா இஸ்ரவேலரே, கேளுங்கள்.

4. Then Abijah stood on Mount Zemaraim, which is in the hill country of Ephraim, and said, 'Jeroboam and all Israel, hear me.

5. இஸ்ரவேலை என்றைக்கும் ஆளும் ராஜ்யபாரத்தை இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் தாவீதுக்கும் அவன் குமாரருக்கும் மாறாத உடன்படிக்கையாய்க் கட்டளையிட்டதை நீங்கள் அறியீர்களா?

5. Don't you know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingship over Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?

6. ஆகிலும் தாவீதின் குமாரனாகிய சாலொமோனின் ஊழியக்காரனான யெரொபெயாம் என்னும் நேபாத்தின் குமாரன் எழும்பி, தன் எஜமானுக்கு விரோதமாகக் கலகம்பண்ணினான்.

6. But Jeroboam son of Nebat, a servant of Solomon son of David, rose up and rebelled against his lord.

7. பேலியாளின் மக்களாகிய வீணர் அவனோடேகூடி, சாலொமோனின் குமாரனாகிய ரெகொபெயாம் அவர்களை எதிர்க்கக்கூடாமல் வாலவயதும் திடனற்ற மனதுமாயிருக்கையில், அவனுக்கு விரோதமாய்த் தங்களைப் பலப்படுத்திக்கொண்டார்கள்.

7. Then worthless and wicked men gathered around him to resist Rehoboam son of Solomon when Rehoboam was young, inexperienced, and unable to assert himself against them.

8. இப்போதும் தாவீதுடைய குமாரன் கையிலிருக்கிற கர்த்தருடைய ராஜ்யத்திற்கு விரோதமாக நீங்கள் பெலன் கொள்ளலாமென்று நினைக்கிறீர்கள்; நீங்கள் ஏராளமான கூட்டம்; யெரொபெயாம் உங்களுக்கு தேவர்களாக உண்டாக்கின பொன் கன்றுக்குட்டிகளும் உங்களிடத்தில் இருக்கிறதே.

8. 'And now you are saying you can assert yourselves against the LORD's kingdom in the hand of [one of] David's sons. You are a vast multitude and have with you the golden calves that Jeroboam made for you as gods.

9. நீங்கள் ஆரோனின் குமாரராகிய கர்த்தருடைய ஆசாரியரையும், லேவியரையும் தள்ளிவிட்டு, தேசாதேசங்களின் ஜனங்களைப்போல உங்களுக்கு ஆசாரியர்களை உண்டுபண்ணவில்லையோ? இளங்காளையினாலும், ஏழு கடாக்களினாலும், தன்னைப் பிரதிஷ்டையாக்கும்படி வருகிற எவனும் தெய்வம் அல்லாதவைகளுக்கு ஆசாரியனாகிறானே.

9. Didn't you banish the priests of the LORD, the descendants of Aaron and the Levites, and make your own priests like the peoples of [other] lands do? Whoever comes to ordain himself with a young bull and seven rams may become a priest of what are not gods.

10. எங்களுக்கோ கர்த்தரே தேவன்; நாங்கள் அவரைவிட்டு விலகவில்லை; கர்த்தருக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்கிற ஆசாரியர்கள் ஆரோனின் குமாரரும், பணிவிடை செய்கிறவர்கள் லேவியருமாமே.

10. But as for us, the LORD is our God. We have not abandoned Him; the priests ministering to the LORD are descendants of Aaron, and the Levites [serve] at their tasks.

11. அவர்கள் தினந்தோறும் கர்த்தருக்குச் சர்வாங்க தகனபலிகளையும் சுகந்த வாசனையான தூபத்தையும் செலுத்தி, காலையிலும், மாலையிலும், பரிசுத்தமான மேஜையின்மேல் சமுகத்தப்பங்களை அடுக்கிவைக்கிறதையும், பொன் குத்துவிளக்கையும் அதின் விளக்குகளைச் சாயங்காலந்தோறும் ஏற்றுகிறதையும் விசாரிக்கிறார்கள்; நாங்கள் எங்கள் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின் காவலைக் காக்கிறோம்; நீங்களோ அவரை விட்டு விலகினீர்கள்.

11. They offer a burnt offering and fragrant incense to the LORD every morning and every evening, and [they set] the rows of the bread [of the Presence] on the ceremonially clean table. They light the lamps of the gold lampstand every evening. We are carrying out the requirements of the LORD our God, while you have abandoned Him.

12. இதோ, தேவன் எங்கள் சேனாபதியாய் எங்களோடேகூட இருக்கிறார்; உங்களுக்கு விரோதமாகப் பூரிகைகளைப் பெருந்தொனியாய் முழக்குகிற ஆசாரியர்களும் இருக்கிறார்கள்; இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரே, உங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு விரோதமாக யுத்தஞ்செய்யாதேயுங்கள்; செய்தால் உங்களுக்குச் சித்திக்காது என்றான்.

12. Look, God and His priests are with us at our head. The trumpets are ready to sound the charge against you. Israelites, don't fight against the LORD God of your ancestors, for you will not succeed.'

13. யெரொபெயாம் அவர்களுக்குப் பின்னாக வரத்தக்கதாக ஒரு பதிவிடையைச் சுற்றிப்போகப் பண்ணினான்; அப்படியே அவர்கள் யூதாவுக்கு முன் இருந்தார்கள்; அந்தப் பதிவிடை அவர்களுக்குப்பின் இருந்தது.

13. Now Jeroboam had sent an ambush around to advance from behind them. So they were in front of Judah, and the ambush was behind them.

14. யூதா ஜனங்கள் திரும்பிப்பார்க்கிறபோது, முன்னும் பின்னும் யுத்தம் நடக்கிறதைக் கண்டு, கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிட்டார்கள்; ஆசாரியர்கள் பூரிகைகளை முழக்கினார்கள்.

14. Judah turned and discovered that the battle was in front of them and behind them, so they cried out to the LORD. Then the priests blew the trumpets,

15. and the men of Judah raised the battle cry. When the men of Judah raised the battle cry, God routed Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

16. இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் யூதாவுக்கு முன்பாக முறிந்தோடினார்கள்; தேவன் அவர்களை இவர்கள் கையில் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தார்.

16. So the Israelites fled before Judah, and God handed them over to them.

17. அபியாவும் அவனுடைய ஜனங்களும் அவர்களில் மகா சங்காரம்பண்ணினார்கள்; தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட ஐந்துலட்சம்பேர் இஸ்ரவேலில் வெட்டுண்டு விழுந்தார்கள்.

17. Then Abijah and his people struck them with a mighty blow, and 500,000 choice men of Israel were killed.

18. அப்படியே இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் அக்காலத்திலே தாழ்த்தப்பட்டார்கள்; யூதா புத்திரரோ தங்கள் பிதாக்களின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரைச் சார்ந்துகொண்டதினால் மேற்கொண்டார்கள்.

18. The Israelites were subdued at that time. The Judahites succeeded because they depended on the LORD, the God of their ancestors.

19. அபியா யெரொபெயாமைப் பின்தொடர்ந்து, அவனுக்கு உண்டான பட்டணங்களாகிய பெத்தேலையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும், எஷானாவையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும், எப்பெரோனையும் அதின் கிராமங்களையும் பிடித்தான்.

19. Abijah pursued Jeroboam and captured [some] cities from him: Bethel and its villages, Jeshanah and its villages, and Ephron and its villages.

20. அப்புறம் அபியாவின் நாட்களில் யெரொபெயாம் பலங்கொள்ளமாட்டாதேபோய், கர்த்தர் அவனை அடித்ததினால் மரணமடைந்தான்.

20. Jeroboam no longer retained his power during Abijah's reign; ultimately, the LORD struck him and he died.

21. அபியா பலத்துப்போனான்; அவன் பதினாலு ஸ்திரீகளை விவாகம்பண்ணி, இருபத்திரண்டு குமாரரையும் பதினாறு குமாரத்திகளையும் பெற்றான்.

21. However, Abijah grew strong, acquired 14 wives, and fathered 22 sons and 16 daughters.

22. அபியாவின் மற்றக் கிரியைகளும், அவன் நடபடிகளும் அவன் வர்த்தமானங்களும், தீர்க்கதரிசியாகிய இத்தோவின் சரித்திரத்தில் எழுதியிருக்கிறது.
