1. தாவீது ஆயிரம்பேருக்குத் தலைவரோடும் நூறுபேருக்குத் தலைவரோடும் சகல அதிபதிகளோடும் ஆலோசனைபண்ணி,

1. David talked with each of his officers. He wanted to get their advice. Some of them were commanders of thousands of men. Others were commanders of hundreds.

2. இஸ்ரவேல் சபையையெல்லாம் நோக்கி: உங்களுக்குச் சம்மதியும் நம்முடைய தேவனாகிய கர்த்தருக்குச் சித்தமுமாயிருந்தால், இஸ்ரவேலின் தேசங்களிலெல்லாம் இருக்கிற நம்முடைய மற்றச் சகோதரரும், அவர்களோடே தங்கள் வெளிநிலங்களில் இருக்கிற ஆசாரியரும் லேவியரும் நம்மோடே கூடும்படிக்கு நாம் சீக்கிரமாய் அவர்களிடத்துக்கு ஆள் அனுப்பி,

2. David spoke to the whole community of Israel. He said, 'Let's send word to the rest of our people no matter how far away they live. They live in all of the territories of Israel. Let's also send word to the priests and Levites who are with them in their towns and grasslands. Let's invite everyone to come and join us. Let's do it if it seems good to you and if that's what the Lord our God wants.

3. நமது தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைத் திரும்ப நம்மிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டு வருவோமாக; சவுலின் நாட்களில் அதைத் தேடாதேபோனோம் என்றான்.

3. Let's bring the ark of our God back here to us. We didn't use it to ask God for advice during the whole time Saul was king.'

4. இந்தக் காரியம் சகல ஜனத்தின் பார்வைக்கும் செம்மையாயிருந்தபடியால், சபையார் எல்லாரும் அப்படியே செய்வோம் என்றார்கள்.

4. So that's what the whole community agreed to do. It seemed right to them.

5. அப்படியே தேவனுடைய பெட்டியைக் கீரியாத்யாரீமிலிருந்து கொண்டுவரும்படி, தாவீது எகிப்தைச் சேர்ந்த சீகோர் நதிதுவக்கி ஆமாத்தின் எல்லைமட்டுமுள்ள இஸ்ரவேலையெல்லாங்கூட்டி,

5. David gathered all of the people together. They came from the area between the Shihor River in Egypt and Lebo Hamath. They came to bring the ark of God from Kiriath Jearim to Jerusalem.

6. கேருபீன்களின் நடுவே வாசம்பண்ணுகிற கர்த்தராகிய தேவனுடைய நாமம் தொழுதுகொள்ளப்படுகிற அவருடைய பெட்டியை யூதாவிலிருக்கிற கீரியாத் யாரீமுக்கடுத்த பாலாவிலிருந்து கொண்டுவரும்படிக்கு, அவனும் இஸ்ரவேலர் அனைவரும் அவ்விடத்திற்குப் போனார்கள்.

6. David went to Baalah of Judah. The whole community of Israel went with him. Baalah is also called Kiriath Jearim. All of the people went there to get the ark of God the Lord. He sits on his throne between the cherubim. The ark is named after the Lord.

7. அவர்கள் தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை அபினதாபின் வீட்டிலிருந்து ஒரு புது ரதத்தின்மேல் ஏற்றிக்கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்; ஊசாவும் அகியோவும் ரதத்தை நடத்தினார்கள்.

7. The ark of God was placed on a new cart. Then it was moved from Abinadab's house. Uzzah and Ahio were guiding it.

8. தாவீதும் சகல இஸ்ரவேலரும் தங்கள் முழு பலத்தோடும் தேவனுக்கு முன்பாகச் சுரமண்டலங்களையும் தம்புருகளையும் மேளங்களையும் கைத்தாளங்களையும் பூரிகைகளையும் சேவித்து மகிழ்ச்சியாய் ஆடிப்பாடினார்கள்.

8. David was celebrating with all his might in the sight of God. So was the whole community of Israel. All of them were singing songs. They were also playing harps, lyres, tambourines, cymbals and trumpets.

9. அவர்கள் கீதோனின் களமட்டும் வந்தபோது, மாடுகள் இடறினபடியினால், ஊசா பெட்டியைப் பிடிக்கத் தன் கையை நீட்டினான்.

9. They came to the threshing floor of Kidon. The oxen nearly fell there. So Uzzah reached out his hand to hold the ark steady.

10. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் ஊசாவின்மேல் கோபம் மூண்டவராகி, அவன் தன் கையை பெட்டியண்டைக்கு நீட்டினதினிமித்தம் அவனை அடித்தார்; அங்கே அவன் தேவசமுகத்தில் செத்தான்.

10. Then the Lord's anger burned against Uzzah. He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So Uzzah died there in front of God.

11. அப்பொழுது கர்த்தர் ஊசாவை அடித்ததினிமித்தம் தாவீது விசனப்பட்டு, அந்த ஸ்தலத்திற்கு இந்நாள் மட்டும் வழங்கிவருகிற பேரேஸ் ஊசா என்னும் பேரிட்டு,

11. David was angry because the Lord's burning anger had broken out against Uzzah. That's why the place is still called Perez Uzzah to this very day.

12. அன்றையதினம் தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து: தேவனுடைய பெட்டியை நான் என்னிடத்துக்குக் கொண்டுவருவது எப்படியென்று சொல்லி,

12. David was afraid of God that day. He asked, 'How can I ever bring the ark of God back here to me?'

13. பெட்டியைத் தன்னிடத்தில் தாவீதின் நகரத்திலே கொண்டுவராமல், அதைக் கித்தியனாகிய ஓபேத் ஏதோமின் வீட்டிலே சேர்த்தான்.

13. So he didn't take the ark to be with him in the City of David. Instead, he took it to the house of Obed-Edom. Obed-Edom was from Gath.

14. தேவனுடைய பெட்டி ஓபேத் ஏதோமின் வீட்டிலே அவனிடத்தில் மூன்று மாதம் இருக்கையில், கர்த்தர் ஓபேத் ஏதோமின் வீட்டையும் அவனுக்கு உண்டான எல்லாவற்றையும் ஆசீர்வதித்தார்.

14. The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom. It stayed in his house for three months. And the Lord blessed his family. He also blessed everything that belonged to him.
